On the road for work and found this Thai/Japanese place close to the hotel. Nice exterior and quiet ambiance. The menu is 40% Thai I would estimate, 60% Japanese. I ordered spring rolls, which were fried. Although they confirmed they were fresh rolls. No biggy, still tasty. Also ordered Thai samurai fried rice and red curry chicken. Very tasty. Especially the red curry was super flavorful. Full of Rich flavor and. Loads of veggies and meat. A 5 stars for that dish. Definitely worth it's money. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because of the Tuna Crudo appetizer. I've been to Thai Samurai a handful of times and normally only get the crudo and occasionally a seaweed salad and another sushi roll. The Tuna Crudo is legit. Everything else.. ehh.. This last visit, we had the Spring Rolls & Crab rangoon for apps. Both were cold and not very appetizing. I decided to try something different (wish I hadn't) and ordered the orange chicken. What even is that? It's the absolute worst - could not even eat it. Another cold dish with zero flavor and chewy chicken. Not like any orange chicken I've ever had...should have taken a pic for a warning. :) Bummer.. Good thing I had the tuna crudo or I would have left hungry. This is a small Thai and sushi place in MJ. Our first time being here, we waited a while at the front to be sat. Nice inside, the restaurant is decorated very nicely, a little dark, but overall really nice! The menu is extensive, so many options and different things to try. It took quite a while to get our food, and my husbands food came much later than the rest of our food. My daughter ordered two different sushi rolls and loved them, the presentation was great. I ordered the beef pad thai and it was great! The presentation was well done in a metal bowl and the flavor was awesome! My husband got a beef bento box and the beef was high quality rib eye and cooked perfectly! Many non-sushi dishes on the menu. Open daily, lunch and dinner. We enjoyed plate of Spicy Edamame and appetizer of Veggie Gyoza (5 pieces) with dipping sauce. Starter was a nicely chilled martini. I counted 12 brewskies on tap...something for everyone. 16 ozs pours. Enjoyed entrees of 12-piece Sashimi served with small ginger dressing house salad and miso soup, and Thai Massaman Curry (with coconut milk, onions, carrots, and potatoes topped with peanuts). Wanted to love it but it fell flat. We ordered take out and the portion sizes were good. But the tom kha soup was mostly coconut and didn't have any depth of flavor. We ordered this as pick up and just generally did not like any of the flavors. We got the orange chicken. The orange sauce was separate which I appreciate because it keeps the food from getting all soggy but it was terrible. Like they failed to cut the acidity at all or it was rancid. It was way too much. The broccoli was done right so I guess there is that. The fried rice all tasted the same. No variety just one mushy of meaty flavor. This place was really good - phenomenal crab fried rice. We had to ask for a waiter after about 10 minutes which was slight frustrating. The atmosphere is really cool, with ample seating. We ordered the appetizer platter, wonton soup, thai basil pork and chicken lettuce wraps. The soup was filled with broccoli (??) and no wontons, the chicken lettuce wrap conglomeration was burnt and dry, the basil pork was cold, dry and had no flavor at all. It was inedible. We called to complain, was told we would get a call back. We called again 5 minutes before they closed, spoke to a "manager", who told us they can do nothing unless we bring the food back to the restaurant. Seriously?? What establshment does that? But the next day we returned everything. They did issue a partial credit. Unsure how they arrived at that. Did they taste the food? Examine the ingredients? Not sure but we are done with this place. I've eaten here quite a few times over the years. It's been consistently very good. I believe they have a few more restaurants in different locations. I have only visited the Mt. Juliet location. They make the Sushi in the front of the house where you can see the chef's prepare it. The interior is fresh and clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful with questions about the menu. You might have questions about the menu because the menu is divided between Thai dishes and Japanese dishes. I recommend that you look at the menu online before you go and kinda get an idea of what you want to eat. The food comes out in a timely manner. Visited June 8, 2023. This restaurant is in Mt Juliet, a 30m drive give or take from Nashville and Murfreesboro. The nearest interstate is 440. As for parking, they are located in Providence (a Marketplace of various restaurants, shops, and entertainment) therefore there's plenty of parking. I came for dinner with a friend and my 3 y/o around 8PM. The food service was fast but our lady server could have been better. At a bare minimum, she was at least dutiful. I've been here multiple times and found the service was better in past encounters. Many servers do their best to be attentive even when not assigned to your table. The atmosphere is casual, pleasant, designed with nice accent walls, large East Asian wall prints (tastefully done), and equipped with a full liquor and sushi bar! I'ld say 3 stars for the wonton noodles because the pork was actually quite dry and didn't equate to the price. However, everything else ordered was terrific and the sushi during our visit was great quality! I recommend the Avocado bomb if you like avocado & tuna. It's literally half an avocado stuffed with tuna marinated in their house made sauce. The restroom was fancy! The toilet, sink, and napkin dispenser were wave sensor activated. I noticed a display screen in there too but I didn't interact with it. I assume it's to display promotions. Sadly I didn't find a changing table for the parents with young babies. I don't recall what all the tables styles were, mostly booths that holds 4-6. I think they can accommodate groups in sections. Outdoor seating is an option too. Zowie! I drool just thinking about the Massaman curry at this place (you gotta try it if you never have, but be warned... you might not even notice anything else on the menu once you do). It's rare to find a place that stands out with both sushi and Thai food. But this is your place if you like both. Oh my gosh... you have to try the flaming items. It's quite a spectacle. And wow! I am from MI but my boyfriend lives in Mount Juliet and I am absolutely obsessed with Thai Samurai! It is a mandatory stop every time I come down to see him. Their Drunken Noodles and spring rolls are to die for. The service is always exceptional and insanely quick! If they are busy, you are welcome to eat at the bar as well. The food is still very good, but the prices have gone up exponentially, in some cases close to double, and they got rid of the kids menu, which when you have very young kids is an issue. We also had albacore nagiri which was delish and two rolls... the zombie and the Hawaiian. Hawaiian was ok, no complaints, but the zombie was delish- it was my husband's and I ate half of it lol. The tonkotsu ramen broth is perfection. If you like ramen noodles, the portion of noodles is massive; personally it was too short on amount of broth for my liking, and $4 for extra broth. I love coming here for sushi like oh my God that salmon it's just so good .so I work at a sushi Japanese restaurant before and I'm too used to the quality of hight grade fish and this is literally the only place I can go eat sushi of this quality and for the price.I love their Bangkok boat noodle soup too, it'just remind me of back home Thailand so much and is hands-down, my family favorite spot for lunch. Wow! I LOVE thai food and was craving it today. I'm not familiar with the area, so I trusted my fellow yelpers who led me to Thai Samurai and I'm so glad I did. Everything exceeded my expectations... including the spring rolls! Seriously some of the best Thai food I've had. My husband and I each got a soup; I had miso and he had wonton. The broths were incredible. They added broccoli and cabbage to the wonton soup which I've never seen before, but it truly elevated the soup! We split the pad see ew w/ chicken and grubbed HARD. They were pretty busy when we went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. They still didn't fail to check up on us. Food wise: it wasn't bad at all! They make their own iced coffee. A lot of Thai restaurants don't do that. Drinks were served in cute mason mugs. Their lard na wasn't bad. What brought me here was the Bangkok boat noodles. 1st time I came here I ordered online and picked up the food. It was good but I really didn't want to do my review based on it so I decided to go sit and eat there. They were really busy the night I went for take out so I was glad when I got there, I was glad I ordered to go. They place was noisy and it wasn't pleasant to be there in my opinion. They don't have a well thought host/ess entry so when people come they are cramped in the already cramped area of the bar next to it. I decided to go later at night and they were not busy do it was enjoyable to eat there. Both times I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. Both times it was good. It was definitely hotter at the restaurant but not as hot as I thought it was going to be. The egg rolls were shoos but same, not as hot as if they were freshly out of the fryer. Never judge a shopping center Thai/sushi place by its cover! This place has become one of my wife's and I favorites! The food, the drinks, the casual vibe, we love it all. Our last visit here had us ordering a completely different array of menu items than we normally do. We got the ahi tower, the Agedashi Tofu, tempura veggies, and the wasabi martini. The Ahi tower, was showcasing just the hits! Spicy raw tuna, avocado, spicy crab mix, topped with spicy mayo, sweet soy, honey wasabi mayo, crunchy flakes, masago, scallions, and furikake. Phew, so many good things! The Agedashi Tofu was my favorite item of the night. Crispy fried tofu swimming in a delicious tempura sauce. I wanted to slurp up that broth!
