This is a review of the newer Hermitage location. It's pretty tiny with a small sushi bar, about 5 4-tops and a long family style table. It appears that the husband and wife team are the only people working. The husband rolls the sushi and the wife deals with the tables and soups. The menu is 99% sushi. They have a wide variety of rolls and the prices are very reasonable. You get a form and a pen and mark down what you want, and the woman comes and picks it up. There is also a separate menu that describes each roll. I heard the kimchi is delicious. It was $7.95 for an order of it. After living in South Korea, where kimchi is always sent to the table as a side at no cost, paying almost twice as much as the cost of the seaweed salad for a side of kimchi did not sit well with me. We didn't order the kimchi. The miso soup was good. The seafood salad was good. The taste of the rolls was solid, but execution needs some work. Most of the rolls were not sealed well so they unrolled as you picked them up. Also they were cut very unevenly. As in, one slice would be a half an inch, the next would be 1 inch tall. I've never seen such inconsistencies. There is a huge sign that says BYOB, but then on the menu there is a line item for byobing. $5. Is that per person? Per table? Per drink? I don't know- but if they don't have a license to serve alcohol- I'm not sure why they think customers should have to pay to drink that their restaurant. There was a man at the table next to us who had a few cans of beer on the table, and they didn't even offer to put the extras in the fridge. Seems like a verrrry lame claw to make profit off of them investing nothing in a liquor license. The worst part about this place is the way you leave smelling. They have a big pot of oil where they deep fry some rolls. I didn't particularly notice a smell when we walked in, but when I got home I noticed my clothes smelled like fry oil. That smell is so repulsive to me. I changed my clothes, and even the next morning my hair had that smell. For this reason alone I would not eat here again. There are a lot of great sushi restaurants in the area, but sadly this is not one of them in my opinion.

Don't miss this place! Hard to see from road but The food is perfection. Sushi is fresh and delicious. Korean dishes are legit. The owners are the best. Can't recommend enough!

This place is great all around. Very hole in the wall, authentic sushi -- run by a husband and wife duo. The husband is behind the sushi bar and the wife was running the rest of the show which doesn't equate for the best service and timing (along with them having to keep up with to go orders, as well). Although, Mrs. Lee was doing the best she could on a busy Friday night! We waited for about an hour and half for our food. I loved that we were able to bring our own wine and drinks in. The rolls were delicious, all the food was fresh and tasty! Rolls we had: Titan, Playboy, 007, Chef's Special, and Kentrucky. Cannot go wrong with any of them. My brother had the ramen and he said it was incredible. We enjoyed our meal, but we all agreed we would try and do takeout next time instead of eating inside just because of the wait. Great place to eat good and support local, though!

Up front, salmon nigiri. Beyond, spicy yellowtail and Alaska Roll. Then L to R, rainbow roll, crystal roll and tuna lover.

The kind of sushi place nashville needs. No frills. BYOB. Great quality ingredients. Decent prices. You simply cannot beat it! I felt at home here and will absolutely be back.

Great food and service! But need better ventilation for fried foods. Heavy grease smell.

We started off with a round of champagne and a bottle of red wine for dinner. We tried a variety of dishes since we were told that the set up is family style: Hamachi Crudo: 10/10 one of the best I've ever had! Super fresh and the sauce paired well with it. Bluefin Tune Crudo: 8/10 It was really fresh and well prepared, but I've had better elsewhere. I typically prefer bluefin tuna sashimi or nigiri anyway. Tuna Crispy Rice: 9/10 This was such a fun and delicious way to eat spicy tuna! All of the seasonings made it packed full of flavor. Tomahawk Ribeye 9/10: This was insanely tender, and well seasoned. Tip: ask for lemon wedges to sprinkle some lemon juice on it--thank me later. Broccolini 8/10: well prepared, and I loved the lemongrass garlic chili that topped it East Side Shrimp 7/10: These were well cooked and well seasoned. Loved the salad placed underneath it. Wagyu Tartare 8/10: It was well prepared and loved that it's paired with nori and rice. Wished it had a bit more punch to it in terms of seasoning. Crab Fried Rice 8/10: this was delicious but still say it's a solid 8. Beautifully prepared! Korean Hot Wings 2.5/10: I could tell that it was well cooked, but it was insanely salty; it was practically inedible. Hurricane Fries 9/10: These were so delicious! You are immediately hit with the smell of truffle, which made my mouth water. Packed with flavor! Brussels 7/10: These were well roasted, but the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking. I highly recommend trying this place out!

By the bar we got to see some of the dishes being made. Great date night spot. Limited parking. This is a tapas spot and our serve did a good job recommending how many dishes to get. The only reason Noko is not getting 5 stars is because the server said that they would time out the dishes for us, so it was best to place our entire order all at once. However, we got 3 dishes and then it took about 30 minutes for other two to come out. Maybe we were eating too fast but felt like we were waiting a while for our food. The food itself was absolutely delicious. There was nothing we ordered that I did not like. Some favorites include the burnt ends lettuce wraps and Korean chicken wings. The Sando, shrimp and tuna crispy rice was also spectacular. The tuna was so flavorful and refreshing on the tuna crispy rice. The sauce of the east side shrimp really makes the dish. I'm not a huge shrimp person but this was really good. This is a must go to spot in Nashville and would definitely want to come back.

Adapted to fit high paced lifestyle of New York nights, it takes the idea of meticulous preparation and condenses it into a rapid experience that cuts the line between an omakase and a classic sushi dinner. At the same time, it's entertaining, sexy and fun. Sure, the time constraints will not generate the best tasting sushi ever, but it will be hard to leave disappointed for the price paid. The speakeasy-like vibe is a sharp contrast to any formal omakase experience and the founders managed to create this price point by finding unused storage spaces or other cheap backrooms that could be turned into this concept. Thus, a brilliant way to cut costs and allow the customer to get a better deal. One area where the establishment should do a bit better is the staff, in particular those greeting and getting guests sat. There needs to be polish and organization, instead of cold interactions that one might expect at a Chinese buffet. It was a bit sporadic getting that figured out and did not feel welcoming at all. Despite that, the sushi tasting set was excellent and the time constant allows guests to plan out the rest of the night without making the meal the only thing. In other words, pretty cool.

I have lucked out twice, once even getting a duo, so not impossible, but not easy. When you enter, you walk into a small bar area, where you can order a cocktail or two. I opted for the Shibuyu Nights, which had a slight coffee note on top of the whisky and bourbon. At the prescribed time, you are led into the omekase and the experience begins. Cue fanfare music now. I figured if I was going to try, it needed to be at a place that knew what they were doing. James our sushi chef, definitely knew what he was doing.
