Our first visit to Sushi Circle was one of those dining experiences that reminds you why great hospitality matters just as much as great food. We stopped in on a rainy Saturday afternoon a little before 4:00 PM after reading the Yelp reviews. We hadn't eaten all day and honestly weren't paying much attention to the time. When we walked in, we were the only customers in the restaurant. What we didn't realize until we were nearly finished with our meal was that the restaurant didn't actually open until 4:00 PM. Mr. Lee, the owner, never mentioned it once. Instead, he greeted us with a warm smile and welcomed us as if we were longtime regulars. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare and immediately set the tone for an exceptional experience. The food absolutely lived up to the reviews. The kimchi was outstanding--fresh, flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. Every sushi roll we ordered was beautifully prepared and incredibly tasty. Hint don't skip the brown sauce! But the star of the meal was the Bulgogi Roll. I had never tried one before, and now I can't imagine visiting Sushi Circle without ordering it. The combination of tender, well marinated beef and other flavors was unforgettable and unlike anything I've had at other sushi restaurants. Between the outstanding food and Mr. Lee's kindness, it's easy to see why Sushi Circle has built such a loyal following. Our first visit felt less like dining at a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home. We'll definitely be back, and next time I'll be ordering the Bulgogi Roll first. read more

I wanted to try this place and came in on New Year's Day 2026. One guy was working the entire place. The sushi chef took the order, brought the drinks and everything. Thumbs up to him. I got a variety of things to share with my party. The food was good and timely. I very much appreciated the hard work this lone sushi chef was doing. two other parties came in and he helped them all. This is a review of the newer Hermitage location. It's pretty tiny with a small sushi bar, about 5 4-tops and a long family style table. It appears that the husband and wife team are the only people working. The husband rolls the sushi and the wife deals with the tables and soups. The menu is 99% sushi. They have a wide variety of rolls and the prices are very reasonable. You get a form and a pen and mark down what you want, and the woman comes and picks it up. There is also a separate menu that describes each roll. I heard the kimchi is delicious. It was $7.95 for an order of it. After living in South Korea, where kimchi is always sent to the table as a side at no cost, paying almost twice as much as the cost of the seaweed salad for a side of kimchi did not sit well with me. We didn't order the kimchi. The miso soup was good. The seafood salad was good. The taste of the rolls was solid, but execution needs some work. Most of the rolls were not sealed well so they unrolled as you picked them up. Also they were cut very unevenly. As in, one slice would be a half an inch, the next would be 1 inch tall. I've never seen such inconsistencies. There is a huge sign that says BYOB, but then on the menu there is a line item for byobing. $5. Is that per person? Per table? Per drink? I don't know- but if they don't have a license to serve alcohol- I'm not sure why they think customers should have to pay to drink that their restaurant. There was a man at the table next to us who had a few cans of beer on the table, and they didn't even offer to put the extras in the fridge. Seems like a verrrry lame claw to make profit off of them investing nothing in a liquor license. The worst part about this place is the way you leave smelling. They have a big pot of oil where they deep fry some rolls. I didn't particularly notice a smell when we walked in, but when I got home I noticed my clothes smelled like fry oil. That smell is so repulsive to me. I changed my clothes, and even the next morning my hair had that smell. For this reason alone I would not eat here again. There are a lot of great sushi restaurants in the area, but sadly this is not one of them in my opinion. read more

This place is great all around. Very hole in the wall, authentic sushi -- run by a husband and wife duo. The husband is behind the sushi bar and the wife was running the rest of the show which doesn't equate for the best service and timing (along with them having to keep up with to go orders, as well). Although, Mrs. Lee was doing the best she could on a busy Friday night! We waited for about an hour and half for our food. I loved that we were able to bring our own wine and drinks in. The rolls were delicious, all the food was fresh and tasty! Rolls we had: Titan, Playboy, 007, Chef's Special, and Kentrucky. Cannot go wrong with any of them. My brother had the ramen and he said it was incredible. We enjoyed our meal, but we all agreed we would try and do takeout next time instead of eating inside just because of the wait. They used to be located in East Nashville and much to our delight they moved to hermitage! Husband and wife own and run this little gem. She makes her own kimchi from her garden, and and its soooooo good! The sushi is absolutely delicious, so fresh and huge portions. One of the BEST sushi places in town. The owners were very sweet and attentive and the small intimate setting felt just right. The sushi itself was good! I don't eat fish (so take this review maybe with a grain of salt??), so I ordered the veggie combo roll and have no complaints. My boyfriend (loves sushi) really enjoyed their Philadelphia roll and salmon roll. The smoked salmon in the philly roll was all sorts of perfect (even I braved it to sample it). WARNING: NOT AUTHENTIC JAPANESE RESTAURANT The ramen that I ordered was simply Korean INSTANT NOODLES. The menu is misleading and deceiving. NOT RAMEN. OWNERS, CALL IT WHAT IT IS AND PUT "KOREAN INSTANT NOODLES" INSTEAD. The contents are questionable and they are like the stuff you would find in instant noodles (dehydrated carrots and questionable meats - see pics). I am very familiar with Korean instant noodles because I used to eat this stuff in college. Asked hostess/server/co-owner(?) if I could adjust the spice level...sorry, only non-spicy and 1 level spicy. RED FLAG. CAN'T believe they would charge $9.95 for a bag of instant noodles and call it RAMEN with an egg and 2 stale tempura shrimp. Were the tempura from a frozen package too?? The broth in ramen is cooked for HOURS (usually over 10hrs) and the bone broth has so many health benefits. The "broth" in this bowl of "ramen" is simply processed bouillon. My mouth felt so dry and tongue felt like sandpaper...that's a sign of poor ingredients and your body is responding to it. The worst "ramen" I've ever had, however, it's super yummy if you're into instant noodles with egg drop soup and paying $9.95 plus tax and tips for it. read more

Great low key stop! The owner and his wife are the *sweetest* hosts-- pushed this to 4.5. Miso soup is the best we have had in a long while, including some swanky spots in Miami and NYC-- it's richer, mushrooms, almost too hot which is the only way soup should be served Sushi was solid-- salmon was our favorite. Very nice sushi spot. Ate here at 6:15 on a Friday evening for our anniversary and had the place completely to ourselves, not by design of course. Owner said they get busier later at night. Started with miso soup (above average and solid) followed by the dragon roll, playboy roll, and yellow tail nigiri. I LOVED the fact that he fried the tempura fresh on each order. Most places do this ahead of time and simply broil it before placing inside the roll. This changes everything! Second round was salmon & avacodo roll along with the rainbow roll. $58 with just drinking water. That's totally fair considering we were choosing the more expensive rolls. The basic rolls are $5 - $7 and the specialty rolls are $11 - 14. Would most definitely go back! read more
