A family owned restaurant with amazing service that makes you feel like you're at home. All 6 of us finished our entire plate. I have never written a review for a restaurant before but I felt compelled to after this experience. And even after finishing my entire plate, Miss V offered some of her lemon blueberry pudding, which in the least exaggerated way felt like a kiss on the cheek. I highly, HIGHLY recommend the pancakes and "Blues Browns" especially with peppers and onions. I wish I had some photos to share but I ate too fast to take any!

It's hard to describe, but you can sense the warmth before your food even arrives. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and I immediately noticed the thoughtfully chosen portraits on the walls that added so much character to the space. I ordered the fried fish with potatoes and eggs, along with a mango smoothie. The fried fish was the stamp of approval for me it was so good that I already know I have to come back and try more items on the menu. The mango smoothie, blended with pineapple, was fresh, smooth, and absolutely delicious. I arrived right when they opened and was seated immediately, but by the time I left, there was already a line of people waiting for a table. That alone says a lot. Happy Cafe is the kind of place that leaves an impression. Great food, genuine hospitality, and an atmosphere that feels like home. I highly recommend it.

I chose the Becca Burger, without mushrooms and their Steak Diablo Fries. They make everything fresh, to order with fresh ingredients. The burger was clearly freshly hand-packed, the jalapeños were freshly sliced, not pickled. Since they make it all fresh, you might wait a few minutes longer than the typical burger joint, but that's fine considering the amazing eats you're about to enjoy. My burger came out looking beautiful and it was definitely sitting tall! The flavor was excellent! Meat was great too!! I definitely liked having their chipotle mayo on it!! Those steak Diablo fries were incredibly tasty, with a nice kick, but sooo much more flavor than heat! The fries themselves were great, perfectly crispy and tasty, but adding all those toppings truly made it special! Service was nice... I had a few questions and she was helpful with the answers. Lastly, they have birch beer here, which I loved! Highly recommend stopping in for a great burger and fries experience!!

Unfortunately, today's experience was completely different. There were only two people waiting for food when we arrived, and after ordering, we waited over an hour without receiving our food. We finally had to inquire about our order, and a few minutes later it was ready. Sadly, the food wasn't nearly as good as it was during our last visit. Between the long wait and the disappointing food, we all ended up eating about half of our meals and tossing the rest. It's disappointing because we had such a great experience here just a few months ago. Based on today's experience, we would not recommend this place. Hopefully this was just an off day, but unfortunately, it was not the experience we had hoped for.

I ordered the meatball grinder with provolone, and it might be the best grinder I've had since moving to Virginia--hands down. The bread was absolutely top tier--toasted perfectly with the ideal mix of crunch and softness. The meatballs were flavorful, the provolone was melted just right, and everything held together beautifully. The only note I'd give is the sauce--it was a little heavy for my taste. Next time, I'll ask for light sauce, and I know it'll be perfect. My coworkers all ordered salads, and WOW--they're massive. Fresh, crisp, and definitely worth trying on my next visit. Presentation was on point, and everyone was raving about theirs. Overall, this place is definitely going on my repeat list. Quick service, generous portions, and flavors that hit. Greater Grinders = Greater Lunch. Sidenote, have lots of lots of napkins meatball grinder gets very messy because of the sauce Sorry I didn't get a lot of pictures. I just ordered takeout and my coworker picked it up.

Every time I see a "Philly Cheese Steak" menu item, I understand what u will get is not the cheesesteak I grew up on. That's okay. I'm not a die hard purist. I generally, however, don't order one. Hangry's, though, they had a Mexican Cheese Steak. That was .. interesting. I ordered one. Gentle reader, it was a really good steak sandwich. Great blend of flavors, cheese was creamy and yum. Truck staff were awesome, friendly and fun to talk with. They had quite a task feeding several hundred hungry warriors, mages, alchemists, bards and rogues. My only suggestion for improvement is one I make often with newcomers to the glory of the cheesesteak: you need a roll with good structure that absorbs the ingredients without falling apart. One with a serious crust and soft interior. Amorosos. Paganos. That kind. I would definitely order from their food truck again and I'd visit their restaurant next time I'm in the area.

We ended up here after leaving another spot because we were craving a BBQ pork bánh mì,…read morespecifically the red pork kind. This place looked like it specialized in bánh mì, so we figured we'd give it a shot. The shop itself is really cute, and they also have boba drinks, which pulled me in because I love boba. I ordered a Thai milk tea along with our sandwiches. That's kind of where things went downhill. The tea tasted really artificial...like, not something I've had before, and the color was off too. It was also super sweet. My boyfriend tried it and said the same thing. For food, we split two sandwiches: he got the marinated pork and I got the roasted pork. The roasted pork was honestly disappointing--almost all fat. I get that pork has some fat, but this was excessive. Most pieces were barely meat, and the texture was just not good. I ended up picking around it just to eat something. The marinated pork was actually pretty solid. But since the other sandwich was such a miss, we basically ended up eating a marinated pork and what felt like a veggie sandwich. Overall, I think we'll keep looking for other spots when we're in the mood for bánh mì.

SandFiddler's Cafe Off Shore Drive…read more I stop by SandFiddler's Cafe whenever I bring somebody to the Ocean View Medical and Dental Clinic. While I wait, I grab a cup of coffee and something to eat. Most of the time it's breakfast, but I've tried a few different things here and the food never disappoints. I've had the Crabby Benedict, the Sand Fiddler Special (eggs, meat, pancakes, toast, coffee), and one time I had a burger with beef, hash browns, eggs, cheese, and onions - loaded up and really good. The food always comes out hot, filling, and full of flavor. Even the pancakes, which at first looked like they might be the frozen kind, turned out to be homemade with little touches that let you know they care. The coffee's solid too - not that bitter Starbucks taste, just smooth and easy to drink. What I really enjoy is the cook in the back. Every time I come in, he's singing along with the music. He's got a nice voice and it sets a good vibe - not too loud, just happy. Having worked in restaurants myself, I know when the staff is enjoying themselves, it makes the whole place better. You can feel it in the food and the atmosphere. The café is clean, with artwork on the walls (for sale), plus bags and t-shirts since this area gets touristy in the summer. The waitresses are always kind and helpful - I even saw one go the extra mile helping a man who was having trouble get his food out to the car. That stuck with me. The guy at the register isn't the most smiley, but he does his job, no complaints. Overall, SandFiddler's is just a good, comfortable spot to eat. Not too loud, friendly people, and good food that fills you up. If you're in the area or don't mind a short drive, it's worth checking out.
