Best subs around BY FAR. I always get the torpedo. Everything is always so fresh!!!!!

I went here for the first time today, and I'll definitely be coming back! It's a small shop with a cute interior and decent parking. The owner (unfortunately, I didn't get his name) is very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, and it is a good portion as well! We got the "devil dog", the "fire the hole", and "u-boat" fries. 10/10 would recommend. While waiting for our food, the owner spoke with us about his past being from a military family and his experiences being a restaurant owner. It's refreshing to go somewhere and feel the love and passion someone has for their restaurant. You can tell he genuinely cares about quality and customer satisfaction. read more

The food is great and they're not stingy with the meat. The Sloppy Ssilor sub is a corned beef pastrami with a Russian dressing and what a delight! The Sloppy Cheese Steak is another go to / to be honest I can never decide and eat half of each snd tske the rest to work. I had The Quarterdeck today for the first time - packed with ham and I had it all the way with tomato lettuce pickle. They're slso known for their various French fries, milk shakes and burgers, As you look at the menu items' names the nautical theme is obvious as you might expect from US Navy vets. First time here, found it on yelp searching in the area I was going to. Outside it's a small grey and black building, next to the laundry mat. I was craving a Reuben, so ordered a sloppy sailer. It was a Great sandwich, only thing that would have made it better is if it was served on marble Rye and toasted. The owner was cool and polite. The only recommendation I would give at the moment, except the marble Rye for the Reuben, would be to put an open sign in the left window, honestly when I pulled up I wasn't sure if it was open. Some ladies were getting a shake when I was in there, they said the shakes were really good but I didn't get one. I finally got a chance to try Sloppy Sailors today through DoorDash. To give you the bottom line right up front,... WAY OVERRATED. I was highly disappointed. I ordered the Torpedo--which is essentially an Italian sub, The Chief--which is a burger, and vanilla milkshake. Not one item is anything I would ever order again. The Chief Burger - the patty was a hefty piece of meat, right on the verge of too thick. I could taste some light seasoning on the patty which I appreciated, but it could have been doubled. The patty was overcooked and dry, and the sandwich overall was very dry. Mine was missing any lubricating condiments. This burger was in desperate need of some mayonnaise or ketchup or more cheese or something to give it juiciness as a person who really loves smashburgers, this patty was really too thick and it was packed to tightly... It made it feel like it was heavy and sitting in your stomach, like a rock versus being a lighter more airy and tender type of patty. The top bun was sesame seeded, but dried out like it had been exposed to a heat lamp for too long (the bottom bun was fine). The Torpedo - this is an essentially an Italian with only two meats... Just ham and salami. It had all the right fixings for an Italian sub, and it matched the menu description; however, it just did not come together very well in my opinion. First of all the bread was thick and hard-ish (especially the top bread), making it hard to chew. I removed the top breads, and put the two bottoms together to make this easier to eat and cut out a few carbs at the same time. Lastly the Vanilla Milkshake - I had such high hopes for this based on reviews I had seen about it being a "real" milkshake, not from a mix, the time it took to make one etc. and alas, this too was a disappointment. Milkshake has hardly any vanilla flavor, and it was 75% foam -the effect you get when you overblend incorporating too much air and the shake had no body to it at all. It essentially dissipates on your tongue immediately without giving you the mouthfeel and satisfaction of the creaminess or even the coldness that one would expect from a milkshake. I took three sips from three different levels/areas of the cup to give this its best chance, but ultimately it was a two thumbs down experience. All in all, I deeply regret that I spent $35 having this meal DoorDashed to me... What a waste. I would still encourage anyone reading this review to try the restaurant for yourself, perhaps I caught them on a bad day. To give context, it was a rainy day, which perhaps means that There were more people using DoorDash than normal, and maybe they didn't get to make their food at the normal level of quality that they typically do, but I definitely caught them on a bad day or overall they are just overrated. Not sure which one and I doubt that I will try anything from them again. I tried my best to give them a decent opportunity to be great, trying something from a few different areas of the menu--nothing too exotic or complex--and every single item was a miss for me. read more

Wow! Thank goodness I didn't pass this up. Tiny sandwich shop, but I am telling you. It is worth the stop! And a local favorite! First when you walk in you see the back wall menu. Love that they have an array of selection from burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, specialty fries and shakes. I will definitely come back and try the shakes. Ordered the "Sloppy Sailor" come on folks look at my pics. It's juicy and fresh, and they pack it! No wonder it a local favorite! And you know what's awesome is on Wednesday's they have discounts for First Responders! And did I mention veteran owned! I will definitely come again and try one of their "Sloppy Fries" and Shake. My sandwich, Sloppy Sailor, was delicious and no skimping on the fillings. The service was friendly and amazing.

This is the second time that my boyfriend and I stopped into Sloppy Sailors and it did not disappoint! Last visit, we got the USS Destroyer and took it to the beach and it was delicious with a great amount of meat and toppings. This time we opted for a burger and a sandwich and both were incredible! The owner was extremely kind and hardworking and even gave us a free water while we waited for our food. The actual storefront is tucked away and quaint but well maintained and has a great military/navy theme throughout. Will definitely be returning to support such a great local business! read more

I tried the Sloppy Sailor sub, which is a corned beef reuben sandwich. It was excellent! The owner was very nice and engaging. I will definitely return on Saturdays when I am in the area. I've passed this place plenty (I live in OV) and decided to give it a try this afternoon. Glad I did; and ordered the Sloppy Sailor and I can see why it's the namesake sandwich. I didn't get pictures because I was so hungry and it smelled so good. It totally delivered on my need to consume vast amounts of meats. This sandwich was stuffed, to the point of earning its sloppy moniker...but not overstuffed as to becoming a mess. There was a great meat to bread ratio and the other flavors came through as well. Welcome to the neighborhood Sloppy Sailors! It was close to closing time so it was not busy inside. My sandwich was made and delivered very quickly. I could see where placing a call-ahead order would be best during a lunch rush, as I imagine their close proximity to the base keeps them busy during the week. Will come again! read more

Great service great conversation very friendly relatable host in there. I got the sloppy sailor sub and a canned drink. I think the price was very reasonable compared to what I normally pay at a franchise and I could tell the ingredients were fresh. It was a very nice to eat. I had sort of a throwback lunch just kind of sitting out on the curb and frankly that's what I needed and I think I'll be back. Had a catering opportunity at work for 30 people so I stopped by and spoke to Tony; the owner who helped me get a plan together. He was very friendly, offered many different options for sandwich trays and helped me figure out the right amount and what to order. The event went off without a hitch and everyone wanted to know where I got the delicious subs. Great place to eat and catering is not a problem. Tony had the order ready and even provided plates, napkins and dressing for the salads.
