Good burgers and fries. A fast food style burger restaurant with simple food. I didn't try a shake as pushing my bill over $20 for lunch was pushing my limit. Please beware of the many (over 20) 5 star suspect reviews. Yelp reviews from non customers are unfortunate and give customers a false impression. This is a small business which resembles 5 guys very closely. It serves almost the identical menu. I do think 5 guys pricing has gotten too high so I appreciate a bit lower price point. $25 for a burger, fries and a shake. I don't think it's appropriate to ask for a tip, especially having the minimum tip amount show as 15%. I also didn't appreciate the look I got for not giving a tip for taking my order. I asked for Smasher style with extra lettuce, extra tomatoes, extra pickles on my burger. Didn't get the extra. Patty was pretty bland. The burger as a whole was nothing special. Smashed Patties are no better than regular patties. The fries were limp and overly salted. The shake was too sweet. If you going to sell shakes, you need to provide the appropriate sized straws. Your straws are smaller than standard straws. UPDATE I was very impressed that both the manager and owner reached out to me and asked for another chance. I appreciated the owner took the time to listen to what I had to say. So here is my honest second review. Initially I gave the restaurant a 2 star rating because of the above. I've changed that review for the following reasons: The burger was actually very good. Honestly, tasted completely different than the first time. The patty was well seasoned and I could taste the richness of the cheese. The double patty burger is a good size as well. I'm still not a big fan of the fries but that doesn't mean others won't like it. Maybe I just don't like fresh cut fries since I'm not the biggest fan of In and Out Fries either. I did not try a shake this time. It was too sweet for me the first time and wasn't ready to try again. Maybe the other flavors aren't as sweet? I'll try another flavor next time. The main item is the burger and I thought it was good. If they continue to make all burgers the same way, they should do well. Most impressive was that they cared. Keep it up. My wife and I just tried Smashers and it was GREAT! My wife went with the single Smasher burger and I went with the Original Smasher! We also got milkshakes one chocolate and vanilla and one strawberry milkshake. I have to say it was all delicious and the burgers with Smashers sauce is amazing. We loved we could pick our toppings including jalapeños and the fries ARE ADDICTIVE! This place is right off North Hampton BLVD by the Norfolk Outlets next to Chick-fil-A so it easy to get to. The service is SUPER FAST and the staff is very friendly. The Ambiance is amazing as well it is a nice burger spot to sit and enjoy your meal with your family or a nice little lunch or dinner. Smashers is another of my go-to burger joints in Virginia Beach. Located at the entrance of the Norfolk Outlet Mall, Smashers burgers, fries, grilled onions and other veggie condiments, and Smasher Sauce are all fresh. Another nice compliment are the buns. They don't disintegrate while you're enjoying your burger. My wife's a Single Smashers fan and I'm an Original Smashers fan. Double angus beef patties with that awesome crust all the way 'round and that Smashers Sauce. Burger Heaven. Service is always friendly and helpful if it's your first time there. Smashers is also a great burger joint for families. Concrete floor, metal chairs and simple tables. A minivan full of little leaguers couldn't damage this place. So the burger was good, if I was in the area again I would stop by if I had a hankering for the food. I don't think the service is bad but there was an instance when I asked if that was all the fries we got for a large. The cashier looked at me and gave me a side eye which could be taken two ways. It could have meant that you're right that was too little and you should get more or it could've meant yes that's all you get. Either way it was very uncomfortable. So the fry guy's answer was sure I can give you more, which was great but he only gave like 6 pieces of fries. For 4.99 for fries I'm expecting more than a kids fries, it felt very stingy. I love this place and the manager and staff is amazing and you can right off the top tell that they were raised by amazing parents!!! My husband and I have been homeless for a while- although you wouldn't be able to tell, Kris is one of the managers and he is there every time we stop in, however, one day we were starving and we were unable to pay and he was more than happy to help. Little did he know- I cried my eyes out praying and thanking him and the parents who raised that young man! Heart of gold! I love each and every staff there!!!! A carbon copy of Five Guys. As soon as you walk in it smells exactly the same, the menu looks exactly the same, the prices are pretty high/the same- minus the free peanuts. Upon order to delivery of said order took over 20minutes. We almost thought our order was lost in transit by how long it took them to get it out. The place looked fully staffed with at least 4 people in the back. They need to add an intercom for calling out orders, they play music, combined with the fans(a welcome respite from the heat) means employees have to shout at the top of their lungs to be heard over the noise. Once the food comes though, all issues are acceptable because this place is quite tasty and a notch above five guys! The portion size of the original smash burger is very large and combined with fries should satisfy almost all palates. Had the single smash with small fry. $13. The meal was tasty. The burger was seasoned and had a good soft texture. Not crispy like most other smash burgers I've had. Not sure if that is by design. The bun was likely brioche, soft and fresh. I liked shoe string fries. The two downsides were they were all 1 inch long and overly salty. I was even warned by the hotel person that the fries were salty, but I like them that way. But this was over salted. Next time light salt. If I stay at the Hilton I will be back.
