We used to be frequent patrons of the Culver City Smashburger, with our favorite burger being the truffle mushroom. We moved away from the area and today's trip was our first day back to a Smashburger location in almost a decade. Boy, the menu is really limited here! I ordered for takeout and only the classic smash with and without bacon was available. The burger itself was fine, and the patty was still juicy. But there was nothing special in terms of the sauce or toppings. The rosemary fries were subpar compared to before, with essentially no rosemary seasoning. I am hoping the poor experience was solely because of location & maybe they just ran out of ingredients for the night. I am browsing the Smashburger website, and it looks like they still sell the truffle mushroom burger. And there is actually a location near me! First off, it's annoying that when you go to a Lakers game, your options are Yard House, Smashburger, Lazy Dog Cafe, and some "fancy" sushi place. It's downtown L.A. and this is the best they can do? Obviously I blame much of this on Karen Bass and her dirty predecessor, Eric Garcetti. Shame on these filthy democrats--no offense, obviously. I digress. My Smashburger was okay. It was obviously smashed and falling out of the bun. Seating was limited, but we found a tiny table with stools, which offered zero lumbar support after a 2-hour drive to Crypto.com arena. Smashburger is a chain. This one is our favorite. Located at LA Live in Downtown LA it is filled with excitement and fun. Now, it is always crowded but the line moves fast and you will be fine. We love to eat there before a show at Crypto Arena (their food is awful by the way) which is right down the street and part of LA Live. The prices are fair and they have a good selection. Parking is in a public lot for a fee, there is really no way to avoid that. The service is super friendly and they are pretty quick. They are especially patient considering I have never seen it without a line out the door. The place is very cute with nice seating inside and out. It is kept very clean. The selection is nice. We love all their burgers and they also have great fries. We often get one of their salads and they are always fresh and crisp. I love that they have milk and their hand made milk shacks are super. They have chicken burgers that may grandson loves. I like their crispy Brussel sprouts. Their sweet potato waffle fries are good are very good, but who am I kidding, they are not healthy, just get what you love and for me that is their French fries and tater tots. I stepped in, saw dozens of people who had already paid standing around waiting for food, no one in the kitchen, no one running out orders, and a decently long line of people waiting to order, too with no one to help them... The only reason why it gets one star is because of the food. Service was not great due to the cashier (Joselin). They were rude, and very short when we had questions. At one point my friend asked a question and they put their hands up as if they were saying "look at the menu." I understand that a rush of people has just come in after the Lenny Pearce show, but as part of customer service (and I have worked food service) they should have been more professional. It was a Tuesday evening, around 6:30 pm, so we didn't have to wait in a long line to order. So, the food is good. Given it's location, it's pricey for a burger but it's good. We ordered a double-double smashburger, a grilled chicken, and a cheese burger. We also ordered regular fries, sweet potato fries, and tater tots, which were a winner! They're seasoned with rosemary and something else. Given how empty it was, the staff was very helpful (and patient while we ordered) and our food was out within 15 minutes. I'm not sure why the menu is only posted on the wall- it would be helpful for accessibility reasons, I'd they could have menus at each of the POSs. I came here before going to see a concert at the novo. There was no wait which was nice and plenty of seating. I got the cheeseburger and fries and they were very tasty. The fries were hot and the burger had great flavor. The service was fast but I was sad there was no ice in the soda machine. I did however enjoy that they had Coke Zero.
