We decided to grab dinner at Smashburger after the Houston Auto & Boat Show, and it turned out to be a pretty solid choice. The burgers were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The shake wasn't overly sweet and had just the right thickness for both my friend and me. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned, which definitely hit the spot. Service was fast both when ordering and when our food was brought to the table. That said, a few tables could have used a quick wipe-down before new customers sat, which slightly took away from the experience. The ambiance was laid-back and perfect for a quick, casual dine-in. Overall, great burgers and decent service--just a bit more attention to cleanliness would make it even better. I'd come back again if I'm ever in the area. read more

We enjoyed our visit to Smashburger. The Smoked bacon brisket bacon burger was pretty good but not great. The smash tots were very good. The grilled brussel sprouts were very good. The chicken tenders were slightly overcooked. The peanut butter shake may have been the star. I still had some money cover in my Smashburger gift card and decided to use the rest of it for dinner. I got a single patty all American Smashburger with smash fries. The burger was actually so solid for a normal burger. It was cooked perfectly and paired really well with the fries. Situated in a a sleepy mini strip corner along Main, this Smashburger is probably the location with the most mileage. Given the proximity to NRG stadium, it's a safe assumption that a big core of their patrons are tourists or are living near to the Med Center. Despite a limited parking lot, the location is bigger than it looks. There is a decent amount of indoor seating and a cramped but dedicated outdoor area. There have been numerous maintenance issues that have plagued the place from non-working AC to a faulty front door that doesn't close properly. The bathrooms are mid to foul and sometimes the tables aren't all that clean. Fast food usually implies the food is the highlight, but that hasn't been the case. The onion rings, tots, and fries are always a tinge too greasy. On a burger front, it's been inconsistent: floppy without the crisp of the patty or too much crisp and the patty is a puck. The milkshakes are always sweeter side, which will get brownie points from the kids and the sugar addicts. Service like anything has its up and downs. I've encountered the number of lackadaisical and apathetic staff but have also met some nice people at the counter. Lately they haven't been great at getting through to crowds so waits are bound to happen. It's not all misery: the AC issues are corrected, water cups are still provided for free, and the discounts are applied for active military and families on Wednesday. This location sits on Main St adjacent to Kroger, it's a little tucked away in a corner spot, but you can't miss that red and white "Smashburger" sign. They offer everything from your classic burger to hotdogs, fries, tater tots and shakes. Though a bit on the pricier side for what nay be considered fast food, it's more of a casual dining spot. The food is fresh and made to order. I went with a BBQ bacon single cheeseburger with the tots to-go, and at almost $16 it may not have looked like much in terms of portion, considering what I paid, but it did hit the spot. Parking in this area can be a little tight, but not too bad. There's plenty of seating inside this vibey place, and they offer a side outside patio with limited shade so keep that in mind on a hot day. Considering they are making the food fresh, it may not be served up fast but it is served up right. Shout out to Anthony (General Manager) who took my order, he was very kind and welcoming standing ready to assist, he even brought my to-go order out directly to me once it was done. 50 minutes till close and they shut the lights off on me while I'm standing at the register ordering some food. At first I wasn't sure what was going on. They laughed in the back so I asked the guy at the register what's going on and he said oh they do that to scare customers away when it's late. I typically visit this location once a month. They opened at 11am the day of my visit and that's when I went. It wasn't busy since they were just opening for the day, so it was difficult for me to understand how my burger was rare inside! The burgers are thin, so they shouldn't be too difficult to cook them thoroughly. I did show an employee as they came by my table but nothing was done about it. Smashburger used to be a step above fast-food burgers. Being one of the few places offer a black bean patty, I was excited to try it again after several years. I don't know if I had a case of bad luck and picked a bad location, or if Smashburger has declined in quality, but it's been a while since I've had a truly terrible burger. The black bean patty was undercooked and too moist, making the whole thing fall apart. They left off the bacon that was supposed to come on it (instead, there was a long, blonde hair somewhere between the patty and bun). The smash tots were too greasy. My chocolate shake barely tasted sweet, let alone like chocolate. I think I've sworn Smashburger off for good. read more

This place has the slowest service ever. We ordered one burger for a member of our family, while others went to other restaurants in the mall. It took over an hour to get this burger. Everyone else had their food from other restaurants, came back to our vehicle, and were finished eating for 25 minutes. We missed our attraction. Oh my gosh I love smash burgers! I think it's cheaper and more for filling to get the double Smash burger instead of the single. They have excellent service and vitamin water which is awesome because I don't drink soda and can't drink carbonated drinks. Pretty hidden gem located near the TMC area of Houston. One of the biggest surprises were their fries because it is seasoned with rosemary. That was a refreshing taste. Staff was friendly, burger was huge and yummy. Only complaint would be the sprite exploded whenever I opened it up. read more

Overall ok experience - nothing particularly bad, but a few misses kept it from being good. I ordered the original crispy chicken sandwich with a side of the crispy Brussels. The chicken was a bit over cooked - too dry and almost hard. The brussel sprouts on the other hand were only crispy on the outer layer - the pieces were too large to cook all the way though so the bases tasted almost raw. They had good seasoning, so I think if they had been cut in smaller pieces they would have been great. read more

The food is not bad (only reason why it's not one star), but the service is problematic. The cashiers often have no clue about the promotions that are being offered, or how to implement the promotions (such as if you get some Smash Cash). Then they treat you like a criminal for trying to use these promotions when it's their fault for not knowing how to implement it. I've also occasionally had the order made wrong. Price is also on the more expensive side for fast food. read more
