After the experience I had at the Eden Prairie Smashburger today, I felt compelled to share how one person's genuine kindness and professionalism can completely turn a day around. I came in with my seven-year-old son after an incredibly grueling day of cleaning out my mother's house, as she just passed away a few days ago. Between the heavy grief and battling the subarctic Minnesota temperatures, I was feeling completely overwhelmed. Our order taker was Oliver, and we struck up a wonderful, genuine conversation. He asked where I was from, and I shared that while I live in Los Angeles now, I'm originally from here and am a Wayzata High School graduate. It turns out Oliver is a current Wayzata student! As an alum, it was so great to connect with him, but the experience went far beyond just small talk. After taking our order, Oliver looked at me and said, "You know, because you came out in this weather, we're just going to comp your meal tonight." I hadn't mentioned a word about my loss or how hard the day had been. This wasn't about him reacting to my story; it was just a spontaneous, kind gesture based on a genuine human interaction. I literally started crying "good tears" right there because it was exactly the kind of niceness I needed. A Stellar Representative Oliver is an absolute professional and a stellar representative for the Smashburger brand: Expert Knowledge: He was incredibly educated about the menu and other locations, offering fantastic suggestions. The Perfect Face of the Business: He is exactly the kind of front-forward facing person any owner would want representing their brand. Bright Future: He embodies a level of maturity and ethos that ensures he is going to go very far in life. The Food On top of the incredible service, the food was spot on. The burgers and fries were great, and the vanilla shake was delicious--the perfect treat for my son. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for great food and even better people. The staff was disinterested at best. The person taking my order seemed very distracted and kept asking me if I wanted what I just told her I wanted. I did not receive all that I ordered, my food came out in 3 waves after I informed them that I was missing several items. The food must have sat for a bit as it was no longer hot. Cleanliness was a 7 out of a 10. I will not return. read more

Please take this review with a grain of salt. My company catered his got out office. My burger and tater tots were both cold. I'm sure it was no fault of the company. The chicken strips only came with ranch for dipping. I wish there was more variety in the sauces. Again I think my experience would have been better if it was fresh. read more

I added cheese which should have cost extra and the guy that took the order comped that which is not a big deal but during this time of covid19 it was super sweet considering sales have to be down. Well, I'd love to give a local fast food burger place a better star rating. But, I have not had the burgers. I did however order Regular Fries and a Large Fountain drink. Good fries, and the drink was NOT watered down. BUT - One problem. My order was only about 6 1/2 dollars, and somehow I got charged a little over 15. I even tipped the guy at the register 3 bucks in cash personally. I have called several times, to no avail, and somehow it's literally impossible to get the 10 dollars (or close to it that I was over-charged) refunded. I apparently need my receipt, which almost no person in the world would keep one like that, the exact time, and date to get a refund. It's been 10 days. I know the food industry, and my name, card info, exact balance, time and date with precisely what I ordered is in their system. It has to be. This has been industry standard for over 25 years. The one thing I am fearing is getting $10 credit for a place I will never eat at, and especially now never will. I know it's only ~$10, but right now I need every single dime I can muster. Not give it to a franchise. My total came out to $18.66. I could go get a superior burger and a decent pint of beer for that at a way better place. read more

We waited for our food an hour and the place wasn't even busy. I ordered the pickle spears and got soggy salty pickle fries, even the waitress was confuse by the look of the pickles because she said that earlier she had served them and they were spears. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was a patty and not a wing. The waffles and pancakes were soooooo salty. They use too much salt on everything. read more

Haven't tried a Smashburger before and it really wasn't too bad. Just ok though. I got a burger, their special fries (yum!), and a milkshake ($6 with no whipped cream or cherry). We had to wait 15+ minutes for our order and everything didn't seem super fresh. The milkshake was not blended the best. For what we paid, I'm not sure if we will be back soon. read more

First of all, let's start with the crap service. I don't need you to be all peppy and extra talkative, that doesn't matter to me. But I do expect to be treated kindly and like a normal human being when I enter your establishment. The second we walked in, the cashier immediately treated us as if we were a bothersome. He didn't greet us, most definitely didn't smile, didn't even make any eye contact whatsoever, or even just speak respectfully to us. There were zero customers inside besides me and my boyfriend so we weren't holding up the line by any means. I asked a simple question and he ignored me and continued to stare blankly into space. We were originally going to dine in, but the horrible service ruined our appetites so we asked if we could get our orders to go. We tried to find a table to sit at while we waited for our food and every single table was filthy and greasy. I didn't even know such filth was allowed in restaurants. It was every single table and chair covered in some type of grease, used napkins, or food smeared which clearly tells me they don't clean the restaurant daily. Aside from the rude cashier and nasty, filthy restaurant, let's talk about the food.. this too was absolutely repulsive. Our burgers were soggy and flavorless. We honestly just threw them away after a few bites. I will insert a photo of the haystack onions we ordered. Idk why I didn't think to double check the bag before leaving, but when we took them out of the bag, we realized they didn't even fill it up half way. I got like 1/4 portion of onions. The photo posted is exactly how I took them out of the bag, no extra onion rings fallen out into the bag, it's literally what we got. The fries were super stale. Threw those all away too. Overall, just don't go here. There is a reason why nobody was inside during normal lunch hours. Eden Prairie Smashburger, you've gotta do better. 0/5 stars. Don't believe my order was fresh and made to order Burger was a double bacon cheeseburger. It was dry and and the bacon was overcooked. The Onion ring was old and there was only one of them and the rosemary fries. Just we're not really fresh and soft. We are disappointed. I think I would have been better off. Everyone I know raved about Smashburger. Me - "What's a Smashburger?" OK, so NOW I get what all the hype is about. Let's just say, a day does not go by without me craving those Smash Fries. The garlic, the olive oil, the sprinkles of fresh rosemary... a truly addictive combination. Now let's get to the burger itself. It's smashed. It's a smashing success. It too didn't disappoint. I went with a BBQ, bacon, cheese - I dunno, I was on a diet. Just kidding! But it did have a lot of goodness on it. I asked for it protein style (yeah, I'm from California and we don't eat carbs, sorry) and they delightfully wrapped it in fresh lettuce for me. The gentleman who brought it to my table noticed there wasn't BBQ sauce on it and hurried to get me some. I love attention to detail like that! The servers were welcoming and friendly. I overstayed my welcome engrossed in a James Patterson novel, and they were super friendly about it. I am planning a trip back to Minnesota in February and guess what's on my list? SMASHBURGER! I used to prefer this location, but as other reviewers have noted this place has changed. I generally come here with my son after school and on our way to a weekly evening activity, so, 5:45-ish and there is only one person taking orders. It seems severely understaffed for peak dinner time business. You wait and wait and wait. Tonight was no different in that respect but they also only gave me part of my order...I had to remind them about the shake and the other burger... Long story shorter, we drove away and find out they got his burger wrong. So I drove back after dropping him off at his activity. I was given the correct burger for him (and, to the manager's credit) a voucher for a free entree and side. I got to my car and was going to eat my sandwich (Spinach cuc. goat cheese w/ chicken) and I open it to find there was no cheese on it. So I went in *again*. They were very apologetic, but this is the second time (visit) in a row that they've gotten my order wrong and tonight it was all messed up. They are also *severely* understaffed at the peak dinner time. Crazy that they have only one person taking orders. Ugh. The food is flavorful, but I hate terrible service! 7/22/20 update Food remains tasty but service is very challenged. I placed an order on the app for curbside pickup. Worst Smashburger that I have ever had, and I am (was) a huge Smashburger fan. When the locations I normally go to closed during pandemic, I drove out of my way to satisfy my Smashburger cravings. What I got did not even come close to the standards of past Smashburgers. My single burger consisted of a thin, dry, hard meat patty (I use the term "patty" loosely here), certainly not the juicy meat I expected. Thick slabs of onions, impossible to bite through. The lettuce was non existent. If there was ANY sauce at all, I couldn't tell. Same thing for my husband's burger. We didn't even finish the burgers. Did the Smashburger downgrade their food to save money due to pandemic?? Is it just this Smashburger that makes these burgers that aren't even recognizable as Smashburgers that I've had at other locations. And you took malts off the menu. read more

Ate here tonight, cleanliness and service could use improvement. Tables were very dirty. No one touching food was wearing gloves. They were out of ranch at the counter so shorted our haystack onions with a 1/4 full ramekin. Haystacks were way too greasy. Then when our chicken tenders came, there was no ranch that we specifically asked for. I went up and waited a few minutes for ranch while the employees discussed where more was. There was an empty bottle sitting in the hot window. The girl cleaning the floors and previously working the food window was inattentive and unfriendly. Maybe she should have gotten ranch from the cooler since that was her job working food prep. Picking up on some laziness. I tipped but that didn't seem to matter to anyone besides who took my order. My experience is from a to go order that my office made. We ordered from here because my coworker strongly recommended it. I ordered a burger and some fries. I was very impressed with the juiciness of the burger and how well the buns kept in the taste. It was a messy burger but very very yummy. The fries were good too. I tried the regular smashburger fries but then taste tested the buffalo ones. Really wished I got those. Note to self to do that next time. Can definitely order ahead of time and pick up. Horrible experience at Smashburger in Eden Prairie, MN. Hungry for a malt and burger so we tried Smashburger for first time. I ordered pickup and arrived at exact pickup time. I called my wife on way home and told her to heat the oven because the bag was cold. Burgers and fries were not even warm when I got home 5 minutes after my pickup time. To be honest, I only stop here for lunch when I have a coupon. You can usually find a BOGO coupon in the local paper or some sort of online deal. The burgers and fries are good - but sooo salty. One time I saw someone in the restaurant layering on even more salt, ew. On our most recent visit, it was a quiet vibe around 2pm for a late lunch, and what seemed to be the manager was very kind and helpful. Smash Burger is delicious! Soft buns, crispy onions and lettuce matched with flavorful tomatoes is a marriage made in heaven. Instead of French fries, I opted for a side salad; It was a LARGE portion of fresh mixed greens, onions, lettuce and tomato you can also add a protein! The dining area was clean and quiet, the service was fast and friendly. I would definitely recommend this particular restaurant! *Note: "everything" includes sauteed onions and mushrooms. This was our go-to burger spot since they opened, but things have changed. Last 3 times over 2 months the burgers were very over-cooked- far beyond "food safety" well done. Culver's seems to get this right, here not so much. You pay good money to eat here- the burger should be a step above regular fast food. Should have some juiciness right? The burgers seemed to have shrunk as well. Food worker cleaning the tables asked how things were, and we mentioned we were disappointed, he apologized, but that was it. The turkey burger & regular burger we ordered were perfect. The smash fries are soooo good! The restaurant was clean & the manager was very friendly & helpful explaining the different options to us. OK Family's favorite restaurant and trust me that is saying alot. Tried both their chicken and burgers...Both were tasty. Environment was clean and comfortable. Will try the patio next time as the weather is getting better. Give the Chicken a try they pound it flat and it tastes delicious. They also serve beer with your meal which is a nice touch. read more
