I got the grilled chicken, made with lettuce, tomato & guacamole. Hubby got a classic burger & haystack onions. Chicken looked nice & large, sticking out of the bun. I tried to tear off the excess so my husband could taste the chicken. I could not tear it. Even with a knife I could not get through the gristle in that portion of the chicken. Kind of put me off the rest. My husband's burger looked small & boring (to be fair, he said it was ok); the haystack barely filled half the container, was soaked in grease & looked like it should have spent a lot more time in the fryer. For a chain Smashburger is pretty darned good! I'm really torn between five guys and smashburger, they both have their highlights. #1 I like that Smashburger has some burgers pre-created, like the BBQ bacon burger, you don't have to put a lot of thought into it! #2 the fries here are very unique but good, the rosemary is a nice compliment to their flavor, I do prefer the five guys fries though! #3 I like that they bring your food to your table and bus the trays when you're done, that's a nice touch! my first negative experience here tonight. -5 for finding a dead fly under my girlfriend's burger. +0 for the staff/management responding well. i'm not in this to take advantage of the system, so i didn't ask for specific compensation. on the flip side, management didn't offer specific compensation, either. i'll continue the rest of the review fairly... +1 for great service. the lady at the counter was especially great, even before the dead fly incident. -1 for asking for a tip right after i order. feels like sucker-punch... +1 for good burger. of the city's "gourmet" burger choices, i prefer smash burger (especially over EO burger). +1 for great fries. the rosemary is a nice touch. +1 for good fried pickles. i've had better, but i couldn't stop eating them, either. i'm tempted to recommend a different smash burger location to you, but chances are that you'll be just fine if you visit this one. i'll likely still return, even perhaps to this location. read more

There is a review for this place that says overhyped, this is true, hearing about this place it sounded like a great burger joint with quality burgers and awesome fries to accompany it. Your expectations seem too high when you walk inside. Then smash burger, rather than smashing the burger, smashes your expectations when you experience the food; greasy shiny, oily, fries and a not horrible, but very dull flavored burger. read more

I was pretty sceptical at first when I went here. The first time the bun was way too dry and the burger was way overdone... but after trying various Smash Burger locations repeatedly I've come to the conclusion that it's the best fast/fast-casual burger place available in the area. I like 5 Guys, but this is better... especially with the Buckeye Burger and its fried pepper rings... plus the buns are better quality and hold together much better. I recommend it. read more

My fiance and I love Smashburger. We went to this location last night for dinner with some friends. For a friday night, it was pretty empty. Most of the surrounding restaurants had lines out their doors. We walked right up to a deserted counter and ordered. I always recommend the Buckeye burger to people. It is really delicious - with cheddar cheese and no mayo. But it comes with fried banana peppers, onion straws, lettuce, tomato, american cheese, and mayo. Get the smashfries. If it were socially acceptable, I'd probably just sit and eat 37 orders of these fries. So good with the rosemary and olive oil. I have not personally had anything other than their burgers but a friend got a chicken sandwich and said it was really good as well. I always tell people to try Smashburger. It IS a little pricey for an almost fastfood burger but it's worth it. For a burger, fries, and drink you will probably spend close to $12. read more

Ridiculously expensive! When i got my smash chicken avocado club back to the hotel to eat it, I noticed its not smashed at all. Actually, its just a really thin piece of shaved chicken beast. Then to literally top it off, they take a sandwich that should be relatively healthy and smear it with TWO layers of mayo! News flash! I just ordered from this location- this being the very first time I've tried this place. The food arrived on time- but was cold (no huge deal we just threw it in the microwave). As I was cutting my burger in half, my boyfriend already started eating his burger. His burger was RAW all the center of the patty ! We checked his other burger and also mine, again, all very undercooked. I then called the smash burger on Miller lane and was speaking to an employee who was extremely rude. So we then asked to speak to the manager. When the manager got on the phone he IMMEDIATELY had an attitude and said his employee said WE were the ones being rude and the manager argued with my boyfriend on the phone for several minutes and didn't even let my boyfriend tell him how HIS employee was "handling" the situation. Terrible first experience will NOT be eating here again. Now I have to bring the burgers to the store in the morning to dispute whether a refund is necessary. read more

The whole family loves Smashburger. We stop in almost weekly.The staff is awesome and speedy. Hamburgers are always done perfectly and the condiments are always fresh. The fried pickles are really good as an appetizer. Tuesday's are family night and kids eat free with paid adult entree. I would definitely recommend. read more

I have been to quite a few burger joints in my days. While it was a little different experience than most I didn't get the hype. The burger was not juicy in the least and to me that's what makes a good burger. I ordered a bacon cheddar barbecue burger and smash fries. Okay this honestly blew me away. I had heard about Smashburger a few times but I was happily surprised. Everything about my cheeseburger was perfection. I got a classic with cheddar cheese and added a fried egg. The egg bun was marvelous and held up perfectly. The fried egg and patty was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The pickles were hearty and a nice addition. All the veggies were fresh and satisfactory. I also got some fries and tater tots which were both wonderful. I was very pleased that my meal wasn't horribly greasy considering everything I ordered. I will definitely be back as soon as I can. Only complaint is there isn't a location close to my house! 10/10. read more

This is the 3rd smashburger I have been to and will NEVER return to this location. No issues and only great things to say about the other locations. Our shakes came 10 minutes after the burgers. At that time the burgers were cold. The to go cup was only filled 1/2 way to the top. I was told that is what you get because I did not have whip cream. Wow you pay $4.50 for a half cup of whip cream????? I don't mind paying for a great shake when I get a full cup. The manager then proceeded to put the cup on a scale. I don't care how much it weighs!!! Who pays full price for half of a drink??? Next time I will drive the extra miles for the one in Miamisburg OH. read more

We were passing through Dayton on our way home on Sunday morning around 10:30 AM (they open at 10:00). We went in and saw an employee asleep in one of the booths. We proceeded to the front of the restaurant to place our order, but there was no one around. Could not see or hear anyone in the kitchen. We waited for a good 10 minutes and did not see one person! Okay I LOVE Smashburger but this location needs some serious help. Our group of hungry vegetarians were told, after ordering, that they were out of veggie burgers. One in our party kindly sacrificed himself to Chipotle, so the other two could enjoy the last remaining black bean burgers - or so we were told. After processing the order (which came out quite wrong) and subsequent refund for lack of veggie burgers, we were told that they did in fact have remaining black bean burgers elsewhere - it's just that they didn't know where to find them. They tried to make it up to us in - you guessed it - more black bean burgers - but it was too little, too many incorrect veggie burgers. Top it off with a manager who couldn't count and a lackadaisical staff (instead of the buffalo and blue cheese ordered), and I think next time we'll hit Red Robin for our Greater Dayton area veggie burger fix. This was recommended to me recently so I decided to try it yesterday for dinner. The food gets 5 stars from me. I got the spicy jalapeño black bean burger, a regular order of sweet potato fries, and a nutter butter milkshake with malt. The fries were very delicious and fresh. Crisp on the outside while soft on the inside. The shake was very thick and the taste was excellent. The portions for the regular order of sweet potato fries and the shake was great. Enough to satisfy but not enough to stuff you uncomfortably. My burger was very good and they didn't skimp on the toppings. It was quite spicy but the avocado soothed the burn. For my meal that seemed to be freshly prepared the wait was only about 5 minutes. Now for why overall I only gave 4 stars: I wished to use online ordering since I was short on time but couldn't because it wouldn't take my coupon, so I think they need to work on their online ordering. The shake was a perfect size but the price was a bit steep for what it is. The shake was almost as much as the burger. Total meal was almost $11 and that's with $2 off coupon that you can get by signing up for their emails. I recommend it and I will go again but may leave off the shake. Next time I will try to dine in to see how that experience is. read more

Stopped in on way home from vacation. Very pleasant and helpful people working. The ice machine broke so they went and got more ice at carry out. I wanted to order my shake later but they said I could order it and they'd just make it later. The lady at the register suggested the chocolate Oreo shake and man was she right! That was one good shake! The burger I got was the BBQ and bacon burger and I added an egg. What a great burger! I like it better than Five Guys. read more
