My family put in an online order today. We ordered a bacon classic crispy, BBQ Bacon Turkey double, Bacon classic double, and a classic turkey single. We got there at 830 like the order said it would be ready but when we got there they told us that the turkey burgers were frozen and they didn't have any for our order. So I asked if I could get chicken instead of Turkey and they said that is fine. So I waited another 20 minutes of waiting they finally had my items ready. We took them home and the two "turkey" burgers that they made into chicken for us were made completely wrong. So my wife called the store to let them know and the person that answered was very rude to my wife. She then passed the phone over to me and I tried talking this guy and he tried to talk to me about my order and he was very passive aggressive. Saying things like "that's not what your order said" or "you only had one turkey burger on your order". Until I was able to get him to look up the order. He then saw that I was right and there was 2 turkey burgers. I felt very disrespected. I was being honest with him but he was acting like I was a liar on the phone. Once I finally had him realize what is going on he said he would get us a refund, but I just wanted it corrected so my wife and son could eat their dinner. So he said he would make them and we could come pick them up. My wife went to pick up the phone and she had one of the worst experiences ever with a company. But when she got one of the sandwiches were still made wrong and she had to have him fix that one too. He was nothing but rude to my wife from the moment she was there. When she arrived he still wanted to argue with me instead of just fixing the problem. She was talked down to, made to feel like trash and the people in the back were talking bad about her and calling her names. But since there wasn't anyone in there she heard every word. I don't want to repeat any of these words as they are not appropriate but this can NOT stand. You do NOT call anyone those names. This cant be okay. They finally made the sandwiches and brought them out to her and she asked if there were fries with her sandwich that she ordered as she wasn't able to eat since she went to pick up the fries and they gave her crap about that. But we ordered fries and sweet potato fries. When she asked for the the sweet potato fries, they said that we didn't order any. The person we spoke to was Shy (spelling?). He NEEDS to be talked to they way they handle a situation. They handled it completely wrong! I would love to hear from someone about this situation, as I am furious about this. My question is, why didn't they call me to let me know they didn't have any turkey burgers? They had my number and could have easily called me to let me know they were out and we could have discussed it before i got to the store and had to wait another 20 minutes. Or remove them from the online menu so you cant order them. Will not be back as they management needs taught what is wrong and what is right. read more

Normally, I enjoy Smashburger. I love a good burger and some french fries! However, today was not a good experience, and I am very upset about it actually. My fiance arrived at the Miller Lane location at 1:10pm and ordered food. The order apparently was made and put in the window, but was never called out or handed out to him. He didn't receive our food until 1:50p, and that is because he walked up to the service window and grabbed the bag with his name on it. The manager saw this and stopped him, which then he informed them he has waited over 40 minutes for this food. They offered to either remake the food or just set aside a free meal voucher for him later. The problem is, we still got ice cold food and pretty much nothing else out of it, since they only offered ONE free meal when he had ordered TWO meals! I will not be ordering smashburger again unless I am dining in, as then I can watch the food some up! TERRIBLE! Absolutely TERRIBLE! read more

First impression: An odd setup. You have to make your way around to the back where the registers are. Not clean. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and there were only six other customers. Fries and junk under a bunch of booths and tables. To their credit, they did start vacuuming with a little zoom broom. After reading some reviews, I opted for chicken instead of the burger. Mushroom and Swiss chicken sandwich - ended up being kind of greasy, just like the burger reviews. They could've stood to put a few more mushrooms on the thing.. Tasted ok after I blotted off the few pools of grease with a few napkins. Fried pickles - Holy SALTY. I like my salt, but these were just too much. Rosemary fries - Came out glistening with oil and grease. I dumped them on to a few napkins and watched as the napkins soaked up the oil. Once drained, I did like the taste. Strawberry shake - Average. Tasted really artificial. Chick-fil-a shakes are much better. Service was fine. It's a fast food burger joint, I didn't expect much. Will I return? Only if it is Sunday and Chick-fil-a isn't open AND I need my grease fix. read more

Overhyped. Heard many great things, my wife and step-son both love it and having read positive stuff on yelp I was looking forward to my first visit. Boy was I disappointed. I ordered the avocado club big burger and smash fries. The burger was pure grease - literally every bite was like doing a shot of hot beef flavored oil - it was all I could taste, rendering the rest of the ingredients utterly superfluous, and the bun little more than a grease soaked sponge. I'm happy to pay a premium for fresh ingredients and forgive the cutesy marketing fluff they use to highlight what makes them different, but selling based on quality and freshness only works when you can taste the difference. To me, smashburger tasted no better than the usual greasy fare from Hardee's or Wendy's. read more

After our first visit in which the food was good, but service was terrible, we finally made the trek back to Smash Burger. It was a Saturday evening before 6pm and the place was PACKED. As in no available seats, and a fairly long line to place your order. Considering the place was dead during our first visit and we had terrible service, I didn't have too high expectations when the place was so busy. However, to my surprise, it was shades better! Hubby was able to get us a seat and I ordered for us. Our food was brought to our table promptly piping hot, and the entire order was correct! Everything was delicious, and we inhaled it all. Who doesn't love fresh burgers. Not just beef but also spicy black bean!!!!!! Can only speak for the spicy black bean burger. I could definitely tell that this was not a frozen patty mass produced. The beans were fresh and the sandwich was large. They used the right amount of heat to make it spicy and smoky all at the same time. YUMMY. There was so much I had to take the rest home. The only reason I have to give 2-3 stars is because the fried pickles were way too salty. Salty pickles fried in salty batter. There goes the sodium allowance for the next three days. It was ridiculous. We couldn't finish them. Please work on that because we love fried pickles. So other ppl in our party had a regular burger, buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. It was okay. The layout was strange to me. When you go in you halfway expect to be seated, because the menus are at the front door. But you are actually supposed to walk to the back and order. The burger was good, I got the avocado blt and fried pickles. I enjoyed both. The staff was okay the server asked if I wanted mine with beef or chicken. So I was in Ohio for reasons undisclosed at this time, and boy, i was hungry but had no idea where to eat. Yes Yelp! recommended me to Smash Burgers for my affinity of all things meaty and I loved everything about it. Similar or akin to Burger 21, they have a nice selection of Burgeries and I went with the Buckeye Burger and it was very delish. Run-on sentences may be a problem with my reviews but that's because it was one long thoughtful experience (nice save, Tommy T). They have a few locations around there so you cant miss it. I was overwhelmed by all of the food on Miller Lane, but really needed something fast, but also gluten free. It was really exciting to me to be able to get a burger with a gluten free bun! It was actually really good. Of course, I had to get the smash fries, because rosemary and olive oil belong on potatoes. And I'm a sucker for peanut butter milkshakes so it ended up being a big win! It was kind of expensive for just one person, but I think if I would've opted to not get the extra yummies, it would've been less than $8! I used to think Smashburger was "irrelevant" with all of the other great places around, but I'm pleased to know I can get a burger to go and not worry about gluten or going hungry. read more

Do not order the BBQ Ranch salad as it was an overpriced bowl of spring mix with some seriously salty onion rings, tomato and cheese. They forgot the bacon and you have to pay $2 more to add chicken or some other protein. I come to find this out after I got this to go and called the store when I got home to tell them they forgot the chicken and bacon. I really like this place. The burgers are tasty and juicy. I get the original smash with cheese and it is really good. It reminds me of the greasy griddle burgers you used to get at the bowling ally in my home town. Just yummy! Another pro of this place are the sides. I love the fried pickles and shoe string onions; a major plus in my book. You can compare this to other places all you want, but it's truly a different and tasty experience. Burgers: Better than average. Fries: Blah! At best. At about $5-$6 a burger I feel like I'm getting a good value. They're juicy and the have an abundance of toppings. You can build your own or opt for lettuce wrap if you choose to go bun-free. The fries are not that great. I've never been a fan of shoe string fries. They're the same as you would find at Steak And Shake. Their unique rosemary & oil fries were oily and gross. Watch for BOGO burger coupons in their website. Goodness gracious! I got the truffle burger and veggie frites - yummy yum yum! How places like McD's and BK stay in business when there are Smashburgers around is a mystery! We went at 2pm on a Saturday, no line and our choice of tables. But I could totally see how this place could be very busy, Food was fast and too hot to eat right away. My only, very minor, complaint was the booth was uncomfortable and I almost tripped over the table support trying to get out. So next time we'll sit at chairs. The burger was a bit salty, but the smash fries, and crispy brussel sprouts were amazing! Theyre shakes are really good too. Eat avacado ranch black bean burger and sweet potato fries. Burger patty was good--bigger than bun. Good quality veggie burger; but couldn't noticed ranch taste and was light on avacado. Probably the worst fast dining in the area. We ate here for the first time this week and were pretty disappointed in the food. I had the truffle and Swiss burger with sweet potato fries and my fiancé had the triple double burger, fries and a chocolate shake. My burger was so greasy that I had to use five napkins to squish the grease out before eating. My fiancé's triple double sounds and looks like a big burger in the menu but the burgers were really tiny. There was a lot of cheese but again the grease overruled the whole sandwich. The worst part was the chocolate shake. My fiancé drank it against my wishes but it smelled and tasted like spoiled, rotten milk. We can cross this restaurant off the list for good. read more

I am really disappointed. I called this location to ask if they are participating in a $45 smashpass program. (You can read about it at smashpass dot smashburger dot com.) The general manager of the Miller Lane location said she doesn't know anything about it. I called another Dayton location and they were aware of it, but wasn't sure if they could accept it. So I called smashburger's corporate office in Denver to see if the program was really an offer as other OH locations (as well as many other franchises across the nation) were participating (just not Dayton). And, the corporate office confirmed it. To give them the webpage and just to help, I called back the Miller Lane general manager who informed me that even the owner of the store doesn't know anything about it and that the owner said it was fake. It clearly is not a fake program, but I have no idea why this particular Dayton smash location seems blind to it or why the general manager was so difficult; It was like she just wanted to be defensive. Bizarre! In any case, I like smashburger, but will definitely not visit this specific location. Who needs the aggravation when all I was trying to do was help?
