Let me start by saying that Smashburger is in competition with Five Guys, not Burger King. Both atmosphere and price are in the same realm as Five Guys. I had the Double Bacon Smash. It was juicy -- actually dripping juices -- hot and tasty. The toppings were fresh and it was delicious. The menu is more like a restaurant in that they offer pre-designed sandwiches -- classic, avocado-bacon, mushroom -- with standard toppings. Additional toppings are available at additional prices. I suspect you can substitute certain toppings, like switching the type of cheese, without an extra charge. The service at this location was friendly and efficient. read more

First time today. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with the burger. It seemed a bit small to me, I prefer a thick juicy slab of meat instead of a flat flavorless piece of meat......Sad to say, I prefer a Wendy's burger than this. Smash Fries were the only thing that would want me to return. Garlic truffle fries with a burger, can't beat that. The egg-bun was pretty good but like I mentioned the burger itself was pretty small. I lost count as to the number of times I pigged out at Smashburger while I was working in Chesapeake for 3 weeks, but however many it was, it wasn't enough! I created my own burger each time (I'm very picky) and each was perfect! Each was just as I had requested. With my complicated orders, that's saying something! I tried the sweet potato fries and the onion strings. Both were really good. I do have to say the sauce for the onion strings ... SUCKED! It was bitter. I imean, REALLY bitter. It needs some tweaking. I opted for ketchup to finish off the onion strings. The staff? Totally cool! Very friendly group of workers. I will say, the place is a bit on the SMALL side. Had to wait more than 20 minutes for a table. Oh, that's 20 minutes AFTER my food was ready. So, there's that. But overall, great place, great experience, great food. I happened to be looking for Firehouse Subs and a few doors down from there I ran into Smashburger on the day before Christmas Eve 2020. The lady behind the counter was perfect for the job...she described the burgers as I asked about them and she was so warm and kind. My receipt indicated her name is Kyla. I purchased the "Spicy Baja Double Smash". She was kind enough to offer me a small military discount as well. The burgers are small and there was almost no guacamole on it but I liked the heat from the jalapeño peppers. I've noticed the Hardees "Cheddar and Prime Rib Burger" is about $3 dollars cheaper, much larger, much tastier (actually seasoned) and even the bun is good. This is an update. Burgers were crispy and black on bottom. They got our order wrong 3 times. I swear I'm not exaggerating! 3x! My husband, my son, and I each got our burgers 15 mins apart. The fries were cold, super oily, and disgusting. My receipt shows I ordered at 6:11pm. I got my food at 7:20. To top it off, my burger was still wrong. The manager did not come out once to apologize. People started leaving in droves and I still tried to be polite. My family and I come here a lot. Like, a lot. It's one of our favorite places to go because the food is always amazing. I love that they have Brussels sprouts on their menu and my husband is obsessed with the sweet potato smash fries. We came last week for dinner, after not eating there in the few weeks prior, and the customer service has taken a huge turn for the better! It was never bad, just mediocre, but fit for the type of place that it is. I was very impressed by their attentiveness on this visit last week and felt the need to comment on it. I've been here 4 times now and the food and service is always good. The service is quick efficient and friendly. The food comes out hot and fresh and always delivers. I've had the Monarch and the Triple Double Pub Burger when I've come in and each have been fantastic. Also you can't go wrong with the Smashfries/Smashtots or sweet potato fries. Everything is a little pricey and there are combos. We had two burgers, two sides and one drink and the total was $26-28. I was excited to see a new burger and fries option in South Hampton Roads, as quality options have been limited, so I gave it three tries. On my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised by their app giving credit not only for the subtotal spent, but also tax paid, rounded up. The burger and fries were good, if not amazing, but the size a bit small. Second visit: I took a friend for the BOGO special they had. After both of us speaking at length with the cashier about using their app offer, I received my food without a problem. My burger tasted good. My friend did not receive his second burger; neither did his receipt show he ordered, nor did the two employees who came to talk to us fix his missing burger situation. Third visit: This time, the person who took our orders did enter the discount available that week correctly. However, for some reason none of the particulars of our burger order appeared on our receipts, as they had in previous visits. For a change, my friend received his order accurately, but my burger arrived with multiple incorrect ingredients I did not order. The cashier insisted I had ordered what I did not when I brought up my food and complained. My replacement burger was dry. When my corrected order arrived, the same cashier who brought it was silent, not making eye contact, not waiting to see if my order replacement was correct, neither asking nor saying anything. I try to be fair in my reviews, and emphasize food quality over other factors. Everything was delicious. This was the best mushroom & Swiss burger I've had in a really long time. Get back to my office ready to smash (pun intended) only to find that they just threw everything into a bowl. So no lettuce wrap. And absolutely, positively, NO MAYONNAISE!!!!! No mayonnaise on either 'bowl'!! Totally disappointed. I spotted the sign as we were heading to another restaurant. My husband and I are burger aficionados. We were impressed. Good soda, right carbonation to syrup ratio. Good tea, just not sweetened. I tried this place in San Diego and it was really good. This location in greenbrier is new so I wanted to give it a try. The staff was friendly and attentive. When you order they give you a number to put at your table and the staff delivers your food to you. They will also help clear your table as well. I got the classic smash burger and that was pretty good. I also ordered the smash fries. I thought the smash fries could use more olive oil, rosemary, and garlic like they claim to have in it.
