Very very dissapointed with Smarty Pants... I came in one night with a group of people who were usuals who kept ranting about how great Smarty Pants was but boy was i dissapointed. So i ordered the bbq chiken sandwich with NO BACON, after repeating it about 3 times i thought my server got the idea that i did not want bacon... when she came to our table she brought 2 sandwiches, one with bacon and without... so she says. It turned out that both sandwiches had bacon, reason why i was so upset was because i DO NOT eat pork! They remade my sandwich so that was cool but in the end the best thing they did to me not charge me for gratuity,,, great right! Not even! The least they could have done was put it on the house since it was there fault for messing up my order. We had a couple shots and asked for pineapple backs but we never got em even after asking for the 2 times, it wasn't even busy at the time so i dont see how you forget to grab chasers. overall food was good minus the bacon, but the service was really poor, i hope when you go u dont get the same server as we did. read more

I like sammies and the ones here are pretty good. The girlfriend and I had the pit boss and ms piggy. We had a side of each. The pit boss was pretty good. Melted cheese bacon and ham with a hint of tang from the pepper-chine. Themselves piggy was alright, the pork was tasty but the BBQ sauce they use was a little too sour for my tasting. The bread for these sandwiches are delicious. For the sides, we got slaw and potato salad. The potato salad was not the most amazing I have had but it was pretty good. The slaw was tasty but was missing something to make it really stand out. I want to come back to try all their other sandwiches and their eggs benidict. Those things look really amazing. read more

Dingy, dive-y and dicey. But with Seattle as a backdrop, a place like Smarty Pants turns out to be another place where even the vegan types can change the menu to suit their needs. One of the only motorcycle "themed" bars in Seattle, this tucked away hole in GTown will please those searching for a place to hide. Enjoy the open air patio in the back, motorcycle art on the walls and the slight smell of wet "something" in the air. The food menu ranges with the typical bar eats. But again, swap out Field Roast for pork roast and satisfy you veggie needs. As a rider, if you're looking for a place to call home, it's no Bob's Java Hut (Minneapolis) but it will do. I have been going to Smarty Pants for a while but haven't written a review. They're good is awesome. I found a salad they do and can't stop eating it. Normally I'd get a sandwich, but The Chopper salad is SOOOOO good!! Oh and go for breakfast on weekends. My mouth is watering thinking about their Troublemaker Pileup. I want to love Smarty Pants. I really do. I love the food (especially the Veggie Chili and Chopper Salad!) I love the atmosphere. But I had one bad lunch experience that left a bad -- or should I say --No taste in my mouth. One Friday a group of 6 co-workers decided we would walk to Smarty Pants on our lunch break. It was 11:30-ish, sort of busy. My group was promptly seated and we ordered our drinks & food after about 5 minutes. 1/2 hour passes and still no food. Or drinks. We track down and gently remind our harried waitress about us . In return she sighs & huffs as she brings or drinks out. 1 hour passes. Still no sign or update of food or waitress. Our lunch hour is over so on our way out we tell her "never mind, please cancel order" and that we left drink money on the table. She tells us how much we suck as we walk out the door and that our food is almost ready! No offer to pack it up. Just f this and F that. I love you Smarty Pants, but I just can't get past this. 5 starts for great food and cool place, 1 star for lousy experience that has scarred me forever. read more

I had a vegetable sandwich from this place (I'm not a vegetarian). I wanted something light so I didn't go for the meaty sandwiches, which by the descriptions sounded pretty tasty. The sandwich itself is $8 and there is an option to add "field roast" or fake meat for +$1.25. I'm not a fan of fake meat because it is too salty for me so I opted just to get the vegetable sandwich, after all I've had quite a few tasty ones from various restaurants. However, the waitress did tell me that the field roast is "very good" so maybe you should get it if you are a vegetarian trying to get a sandwich at this place. The most flavourful part of my sandwich was the bread ... which was okay (not spectacular tasting bread). This sandwich could have had so much potential.... instead of avocado spread maybe REAL avocado so you can actually taste it, lettuce (lots of lettuce packed in the sandwich), tomato (ehh I could slightly taste it), hummus ?... Maybe there was just too little hummus or something because I couldn't taste it, and finally the cheese. I tried the Monterey Jack cheese included with the sandwich and it just tasted like rubber. Maybe some feta would be nicer with it? I wouldn't mind getting a smaller sandwich if the ingredients were better tasting. Like I said, it ended up tasting like juicy (from the tomato) lettuce BREAD. Luckily it comes with a pickle so I could give it a little flavour. I did try a bite of a lamb gyro and it was very good compared to my sandwich... Okay next time I know. Oh and their potato salad was VERY GOOD .. but I didn't get it for myself and I started eating what was left of it from my boyfriend's plate until the waitress grabbed it away from us :'( thinking he.. I mean I was done with it. Also, don't come here during the lunch hour if you're in a hurry. It can get crowded/busy and it doesn't seem like they have a lot of lunch staff so you might have to wait a bit for everything. read more

I figured for a sandwich spot some of the bread was made my in house, but from what I saw they were all loaves you could by from the grocery store. We waited for our food for about 40-45 minutes, at first I thought maybe they were just backed up, but then I noticed people who came in after us had already gotten their food. Some were take out orders and one table had 2 orders of things you actually had to cook, the 4 of us all ordered sandwiches! The guy who was the server that day, seemed like he kept avoiding our table. He would check in with everyone one but us. It was only when he checked on the table next to us for a second time is when he asked how we were doing. I asked how much longer for our food and he looked like a deer in the headlights until he finally answered saying it should be coming out now. I think he knew he messed up, because he came right back asking if we wanted waters or anything else. Not saying this place is a bad place, I just wouldn't pay $16-17 bucks for a turkey club when I could get it at Jersey Mikes for $8-$9 ON house made bread WITH a drink included. The wifey and I decided to check out smarty pants after reading all the great reviews on yelp; good food for sure, but this place does not deserve 4.5 stars on avg from over thirty reviews... I think that if they cut prices just a dollar or two this would be a new favorite spot, the food is solid and well made. You get a sandwich with a choice of three sides for about $7-9 (cole-slaw, potato salad, or chips/salsa). The chips and salsa side was better than average. The cole-slaw was on the bland side but good. I had a toasted cheese (with tomato, and avocado, and onion) while the wife had a BBQ chicken sandwich (I love their BBQ sauce). The bar/beer selection was about average. Atmosphere is what smarty pants has, it's a fun place to eat. Inside there is a bar and a few tables, outside a fairly large fenced in dining area that I would imagine is a fun place to have a few drinks with friends at night. Perhaps I don't know Georgetown well enough, but parking seems limited. The food was on par with any of the better bar/brewery restaurants, but nothing special. I'll give it another chance since I live nearby, but I expected better from the reviews on here. note: I would give an extra star if I could for playing hairmetalbuttrock on the stereo, I think it was the best of Motley Crue (The wife would probably take away half a star for the same resaon =p ) read more

As someone who I guess you would say involved in the "motorcycle scene" , I have probably been to Smarty Pants about 20 times. At first I liked the place...for obvious reasons. But now I refuse to spend a dime there and here's why: Smarty Pants refuses to maintain very basic levels of service that any drinking/eating establishment should have. A large percentage of their business seems to be people such as myself: folks who like vintage motorcycles, Vespas, roadracing MotoGP, etc. I believe Smarty Pants feels it can skate by with its alternately slack service from waitstaff and brusque treatment at the bar based on knowing that, no matter what, people like me will keep coming in there simply because there's motorcycle stuff everywhere. Unfortunately, they will--although I can not think of any other place where such crappy service would be forgiven time and again. On not one--not two--but THREE occasions I went hungry there because my order never materialized. It happened to my girlfriend once too, so I guess you can make that FOUR times! The food is pretty good, and I certainly have no issues there. One other minor-but-still-significant incident was when I settled up for a drink and realized I had only my debit card with which to pay. The owner looked at my $4.50 tab and asked very sneeringly "Do you have CASH!?" I know it seems goofy to have to pay for such a small amount with a debit card, but I also know this: he's done it, you've done it, we've ALL done it--so get over it! Do you want my money or not? I should add that I am hardly what you would call a "high-maintenance" customer nor am I unfamiliar with the whole kitschy, "Ed Debevic's-cool-to-get-treated-like-shit" jive. But that's not what this place is about; the owner just wanted to let me know that I was seriously putting him out. Alas, all of the Seattle motorcycle intelligentsia will keep going back time and again (a friend of mine admitted that he too has had his "food orders consistently fucked up") just because there's motorcycle shit on the walls. I'll get my criticism out of the way first: The place is pretty sticky, probably from delicious, delicious BBQ sauce. Oh man is mah belleh full of a ridiculously good BBQ pork / slaw sandwich from Smarty Pants. I mean, like, I know I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing, and didn't really since I lopped off a (smaller than I ought to have, but I was sharing out of guilt) section for my fiancé, but seriously. The Ms. Piggy is enormous, and frickin' tasty. I've also had the Gringa before and it was really good too! The server was nice, the place was busy during the lunch rush, but we still snagged a table, the potato salad was yummy ... All it could have used was a bit more elbow grease on the gummy table surfaces. Won't deter me from eating there again, though! I'll just channel a bit more Emma Pillsbury and break out a Clorox wipe or something. ;) We'll be back! read more

The Troublemaker sandwich was absolutely deliciously delicious! Just the right amount of spicy heat. The potato salad side was good. Our waitress had that hipster "I'll take your order and serve you, but I don't have to like it." attitude. The atmosphere was a little dark, even at midday. I am not as huge a fan of going after work, but it's not really their fault that Georgetown has become a hipster paradise, with parking at a premium and fixed gear bicycles to dodge. I've read some of the bad reviews and it seems many of those are from first timers. But I've been going here for a few years now for lunch and it's still as good as my first time. Big sandwiches and plenty of sides. The beer selection is not so big but interesting. At lunch, service is fast and they keep you moving, the counter is a good place to sit if you're watching the clock. The servers are pierced and full of tatt's which doesn't bother me a bit, so expect a lil 'tude with your lunch. They have a bench for parties larger than 4 and covered outdoor seating as well - great for large parties and if you're not in a big hurry. The potato salad is homemade there and wonderful. A small open kitchen as well, watch your food get made to order. The best bet for lunch on the small Airport Rd foodie strip IMHO. read more

As a loyal customer of Smarty Pants I would just like to say this place is awesome. I like the staff they are awesome. I love the taste of the troublemaker it is awesome. I sometimes eat the happy hour tri sampler and it is awesome. a few times before I was a regular I got really shitty service with messed up orders and I got kicked out once for my license being expired ---- but shit happens. And also paying 10 dollars for a sandwhich gets you a little down sometimes - but honestly it is impossible to recreate the trouble maker sauce.... I encourage you to go experience the awesomeness and to leave and never return if you do not like it. read more

I think I've had every sandwich now. And they are all great. Pair any with their killer potato salad and you can't go wrong. It's a cool place and fits in perfectly in Georgetown. I've been eating here for about 10 years and nothing has changed. Decided to go here for lunch one day and I'm definitely going to keep going here as much as I can. The vibe inside was really nice and the staff was sore friendly. I ordered the troublemaker and it was absolutely delicious. It has the nice traditional bar food look, feel, and taste. It's not meant to be upscale or fancy but man did that taste deliver. It was great. I didn't other drinks since I was working but it definitely looks like a nice bar to hang out at as well. I'll have to try their new location closer to home. Definitely would recommend. This was an amazing find in the Georgetown district. Stopped here due to convenience and proximity and found a gem. The staff was amazing. Friendly people and perfect Seattle ambiance framed what may be the best sandwich I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and get the pit boss. Ham and bacon with veggies is the foundation but the star is what I think is a mustard vinigrette with the whole thing built on the most wonderful bread roll ever. Amazing. read more

Tom is one of the best bartenders I've met. Super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I visited with a friend from Italy, and Tom answered in detail all our questions about beers. A cool place to go, without the hipster attitude. I live minutes from Georgetown, and frequent Smarty Pants a couple times a month. It is a great restaurant to bring people to right after they fly into town: cold beer, great food, relaxed atmosphere, and the staff is friendly. My husband adores the Miss Piggy and Scamp sandwiches, while I love the Turkey and Avocado sandwich, or the Hummus Plate. And you can gross out your friends by buying them a Bacontini. The 'troublemaker' goes down easily, as do the 'Ms Piggy', 'Pit boss' and pretty much all of them. The hummus plate is delich and have plenty of food on it for the money. Ordered the daily special yesterday at lunch which happened to be the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, and chips and salsa on the side. The sandwich had good flavor, and at a good price. I would have liked a little more cheese but maybe that's just me. Unfortunately I didn't get to try out any of the drinks this time but I'll definitely be back for more food. My wife ordered La Gringa sandwich which was pretty freaking delicious. I don't know what the sauce was but I would definitely order that next time. I was in the neighbourhood and was curious to see if this establishment is as amazing as everyone claims. The atmosphere was pretty chill and the staff were kind, but my food wasn't very lovely. I've ordered nachos at the Can Can and at other pubs, so I wasn't expecting what I received: A cold concoction of wet cheese, soggy corn chips smothered in watery pico de gallo and topped off with sour cream and cheapy store bought guacamole. Mmmm. Reluctantly I ate it anyway. Guess I should have ordered a sandwich! read more
