We had been looking at having our house painted, so we made few checks on the internet and e-mails and SHS responded. We were totally excited at the HERO program for the finance and the Textural paint that would seal the house. SHS responded all my requests during the process and cleaned up everything every day and at the completion. I thought that at times I was a real pain in the neck with my request, but they were eager to please me. I highly recommended them. I've enclosed a couple of ariel pictures from my drone that shows the completed work. The color is titled Silver Spur where we did have red bricks around our planter that we had painted white. We had planed to change our lawn with Smart Turf, but unfortunately the city had just change the rules and couples months before that provided specific guidelines. We were only the second family to apply for permission, but were disapproved only because we were replacing to much grass. read more

The installation team was great, they accommodated to my scheduled! This would have been a 5 star review, but there was a misunderstanding with the production of the windows. We thank Eric (supervisor) for coming personally to my home to explain why there was a delay in the production process and they have now made adjustment to their overall time frame that is given to their customers. I have mixed emotions about this company, first off the price they quote you is not in stone do your own research and have other quotes before using them. The Hero Program is a lean on your home no matter what they tell you if you refi or sell your home after the program is in place Hero gets paid first. Next this is your home so you have every right to stop and question anything going on before, during and after the project starts. I personally requested a crew to never come back to my property as they did not respect my home and destroyed some of my landscape that could have been moved, plus it seamed as if they where out to make some side money of their own. The sub contractor they got to finish the roof replacement job was terrific he did a great job and explained everything to me and all the necessary repairs that he encountered. The job should have taken 30 - 45 days to complete but actually took close to 3 months and that's because I am a persistent pain in the butt and will not stop calling until I get a definite answer and you better believe that if they did not show on the promised day I would blow their phones up with calls and text messages. now this is what really gets me after everything is done and I finally get the county to give the job their blessing I get a letter from the roofing material company/sub contractor stating that they have not been paid by Home Solutions, first wondering if the job was done to my satisfaction and wondering why the subcontractor has not been paid for his job. I spoke with Brenda and Terry at Home Solutions and they told me not to worry that all they needed was a few documents to be place on file like Contactors license # and proof of insurance, really they did not get this info ahead of time, now this poor guy purchased all the materials and paid his help but wont get reimbursed because Home Solutions didn't ask for this info before hand. I DO NOT believe a hard working man should be punished for a job well done because a corporation says they can. Home Solutions you are so wrong you got paid by Hero Program on time when in fact you should not have because you asked me to sign off on the job before the year end when in actuality you completed the job in mid January. so Shame on you Home Solutions you are looking more like a company that prays on innocent home owners and laborers.. read more

I have had windows installed and am now having green landscaping done. I've also added a few more windows to be installed and a couple of windows removed and and closed up. My experience with Smart Home Solutions has been good. A couple of glitches but nothing worth mentioning. I do have to say that I have received excellent customer service. The Hero financing program application was a breeze and the approval immediate. Eric,and Arthur are very knowledgeable and professional and easy to work with.. This company has been redeemed as far as their customer service goes! I received a call from Jesse who acknowledged my frustration about the confirmation call and apologized for the experience. He came to my home and gave me the estimate I was looking for. He was extremely professional and informative about my options. I had an estimate from another company recommended by HERO and had a pretty good experience for the most part. However it was obvious they were not happy that I did not sign on the dotted line that day and told them I needed to weight my options after getting a few more quotes. I did 12 windows/2 sliding doors & HVAC & had meh experience. Communication: Biggest issue is lack of communication/training. Signed contract late July 2015 & I was told whole project would take approx 2-3 weeks to complete. Everything started great w/someone coming in the next day on a Saturday to measure windows & the HVAC people do planning system. "Project manager" was supposed to contact me early the following week to give me dates. A week after I was supposed to be contacted, I finally got in contact w/ project manager & I was told the windows had been ordered & that the windows would come in Mid-August & it would take a few days for HVAC & windows to be done at the same time. From here on out, I started having issues. Mid-August I followed up w/ project manager to see how things were coming along was told they were able to start on a Monday. We spoke on the phone & come Monday, nobody showed up. I finally called after nobody showed up from the 8-9am appointment & was told that the manufacturer was behind on the windows. 2 weeks later, the project finally started. This was 7 weeks after contract was signed. Next 2 weeks, HVAC was worked on, & numerous times along the way someone was scheduled to show up at a certain time, usually 8-9am, but someone always kept showing up late, usually 11, 12 & our project manager never gave us a courtesy call on lateness. Don't expect to have someone there every day once started, they will work 1-2 days & then a 1-2 off. If you are going to be late or going to cancel, no problem, but be courteous & consider your clients time. Communicate Schedules!! We had to contact them everyday to ask if they were going the next day. We had to move our schedules a lot to accommodate their time, as a client, we expect our time to be considered. Contract vs Delivery: Make sure everything is agreed on is on paper, w/as much details as possible, even if you think it's insignificant. System was to be 4 ton w/4 zone wifi. Someone later came in & I was told the system was too big & there were too many zones for my house, I understood this & had no problem w/making it 2 zones & reducing to 3 tons. Issue I had was that I was verbally told I would get top of line 26 seer Lennox system w/Wifi, but come install time, system was a 16 seer system. After back & forth, issue was resolved w/a change in price. Written contract had no model number or seer offered. It just had HVAC system. Contract promised termite inspection before anything started & was to have fumigation included if needed. Inspection never happened. I didn't press much since I didn't think I needed one, but don't offer something you aren't going to deliver. Dog door was also to be done on a sliding door & wasn't done. Also resolved by doing dog door on wall. Price, quality & Hero: Before doing any projects, do your homework & check prices. Get at least 3 quotes for anything you are planning to do. This is a big expense & you shouldn't settle. The plus side w/SMS was that they matched HVAC competitors quotes. Prices on windows also wasn't bad compared to other quote. They came in lower than 2 other quotes for same type of windows (Anlin). All in all, quality wasn't bad. Hvac cleaned up nicely & so far AC running great. Windows look nice too & we do notice temperature difference. I had a change in project manager due to poor communication w/first one & the second person was better. He listened to my issues & was patient enough to have one issue after the other resolved. Every company has issues, its how you resolve them that shows a companies integrity. Hero Program, extremely important. Only reason I decided to do this project in the 1st place, & biggest reason many homeowners are doing this project, is because of Hero. But BEWARE, there are HIDDEN FEES! Can't fully blame them for this part, but they need to understand how the program works & make sure they provide proper info. I didn't catch a few things until it was too late; it was my fault for not reading contract & researching. I was told Hero program finances the entire program 100% & you can re-pay back in 5, 10 or 20 years. This is true. Yearly interest is anywhere from 5-7% depending on years. The issue was that I was told there would be NO interest for the first few months until you give the 1st payment in November of the following year. This is A LIE. What they don't tell you is that they charge a one time financing fee. This is anywhere between 5-7% of the total financed. Also charge yearly $35 admin fee & they charge CP fee & record fee. A loan I was supposed to receive for $20k, I would have ended up paying $30k total in 5 years. Over $1K+ just in program financing fee & $2k+ just in pre-financing fee. They will say, don't worry, you can tax deduct the entire thing, THIS IS ALSO A LIE. You can only deduct interest. read more

I signed a contract with this company and was told the job would be finished in less than a month. Well, that's what Arthur stated before we signed the contract back in August 2015. Jobs to be done were HVAC, new doors and jams, tankless water heater and electrical upgrade. It took 2 months to get it started after financing was approved. We actually had to keep calling the company to get the ball rolling. Once we got a hold of Arthur to find out what's going on, he then blamed the project Manager, Terry, for not acting on it. Well, we got a hold of Terry finally, but getting them to come out to do a job was task in itself and it became annoying. We would set a day for this company to come, but they don't show up. No show and no call. Instead, they would just show up at your doorstep unannounced while we're at work. It's frustrating!!! They have done this a few times. Communication with this company is very poor. The problem is that they don't come or call unless we hound them ourselves. This is not just a few times, but ALL THE TIME. This company wanted me to advertise them and put a sign on my front yard, to let my neighbors know who's working on our house, but I refused to do it because this company is so unreliable. It has been almost SEVEN months and the job is still not done, not even close to being finished. The 5 month financing approval had already expired and we had to re-apply with the bank again. Still waiting for the doors that were "supposedly" in stock when we were given the brochure back in Sept 2015. We reordered them in November 2015, it is now mid-February and still no doors. Aside from the doors, there are still a few more things that needs to be done. NO BUENO. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. read more

This guy came to our door today, shady. First he was trying to act like he was a city worker of some sort, he had a construction vest and I kept looking at his badge, he said they were doing a lot of work in the neighborhood and apologized for the possible loud noises. I said okay and he continued trying to make conversation he was kind of just trying to engage me in a conversation so I asked what sort of work they were doing and where and he couldn't give me a specific answer he was very vague. He then started "noticing" all the work that needed to be done around the house and started talking about a federal program for home owners to make improvements to the home he said it was called H.E.R.O. He brought it up as like a "oh I just know this info that may be beneficial to you, type of thing" so I said cool, thanks and I'll look it up/look into it. He continued to try to engage me in conversation and asked if I was the homeowner, etc. I said no, it was my mom's house and she wasn't available, I noticed at this time the logos on his hat and badge, no city information, and he had flyers in his back pocket that he kept messing with and would eventually hand me. Shortly after I told him my mother wasn't home and I had nothing to do with home type decisions my mom shows up from around the corner and he starts talking to her, he tries to get her to set an appointment to meet with his supervisor and says that they can help her with home repairs with this government money and one of our neighbors had gotten her roof repaired and was only paying $88 a month... wait, if this is federal grant money, why is she paying? He said it was a Ms. Garcia - well this is Pico Rivera, that could be anyone, so I asked him to point out the house and again he pointed vaguely and didn't give specifics. He got my mom to set up an appointment with someone he called on his own phone, he said "the office" and I was vague with him telling him if and when I'd be home. Around that time my husband came out to see where I'd gone off to and I slipped away and left him with my very tall husband to try and engage him in convo and bs. I was over it and annoyed with him. it's there that my mom set an appointment, but I had her cancel it later. I went to the page on the flyer he handed us www.smartgogreen.com and the top of the tab said "copy of smart home solutions." when I googled them, they are just contractors. My wife and I had 4 windows a new front door and a complete front yard landscape done and couldn't be happier. The landscaping crew was very hardworking and a hoot to be around, and finished in about 3 days, we got DG and rock with desert plants and the guys really broke their.....butts to do a good job just how my boss (wife) wanted it. We have an older home and the windows all had to be ordered so we had to wait for that, but once the windows arrived the window/ door guys came out and did the job in 2 days and did a beautiful job, we couldn't be happier and there prices were very reasonable considering the amount of work involved, I watched the install and got tired and had to take a nap, these guys really worked, we are very happy we went with Smart Home Solutions. read more

Too many marketers for too few workers. They came to the house, got my phone, called back multiple times to set up appt. Then they cancelled the appts 3x. When we finally met Anthony, he seemed friendly and genuine, we settled on a large insulation and turf project and signed up for HERO financing. Then I tried to call the project manager(s) about making slight adjustments to the landscaping design. Never could talk to anyone! I did get a couple of calls from a customer service rep to set up a meeting with a project manager but no-one ever showed up or called, so I cancelled the project after waiting almost TWO MONTHS. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say my house was out of their area (although they came canvassing my neighborhood!) so maybe their work product is better closer to home. They didn't rip me off or lie, just didn't seem to have the manpower on the ground to follow through. read more
