We redid all of our house windows and sliding door through Josh and his company. Initially, we only wanted to do 4 windows but the result and feel of the 4 windows was so good we ended up doing the whole house (11 windows, 1 sliding door). We also went with a company that would not shy away from new construction windows since we knew we had termite damage around one of the windows. They did a great job and the extra cost for new construction was well worth it. The window company they use is located in Anaheim and has a showroom and is very comparable with Milgard and Anlin windows. Josh always answered my calls or called me back shortly, always explaining everything in detail to not only myself, but also to my family. I needed a window and sliding glass door replaced, so I contacted 4 different companies on yelp. Sustainable Home Construction was the only business where I was not given an automated response either asking for my phone number, or telling me someone would get back to me at a later time. Josh (the owner) replied the next day with a detailed quote, including a price breakdown for windows that followed the HOA restrictions I had provided. He was very responsive with any questions or concerns I had, and was very knowledgeable on the subject. After someone came to take final measurements, a date was set for the actual installation, which included haul away of the old window/door. Instillation took only a day, and the installers were quick and efficient. They also took care of handling the permit and scheduling an inspection, for an additional fee. The final product looked amazing, and I would definitely recommend their services to anyone looking to retrofit new windows or sliding glass doors into their home. PS: if you are replacing a sliding glass door, indicate ahead of time if you want a keyed locking mechanism or not. Also be sure to discuss any trim options as well, if you have a preference. Our house was built in the 1950s and needed lots of love. We hired Josh and SHC two years ago for the roof (complete tear off and replacement), attic disinfecting, air sealing and new insulation, 14 new windows, exterior wall insulation, and two new bathroom exhaust fans with duct installation. We had been thinking of adding insulation for some time as our home is a bit old. What a difference it has made in our lives. To the point our son can now comfortably sleep in his own room. The crew was amazing and were so polite as we were working from home when the first phase (insulation) was being worked on. Second phase was removing very old stucco (previous owner was here a little over 40 years). The new windows in the sunroom and the stucco. I wish I had pictures of how our home looked prior to "her" facelift. The sunroom exterior wall was old, had termites and was just in bad shape. I originally found Sustainable Home Construction through the REEL website (California's energy efficiency loan program site) as an approved contractor. I called several, and Josh gave me the most competitive estimate and knew what he was talking about. I pretty much trusted him right off the bat. I had him do a LOT of work on the house. We removed the old attic insulation, sealed and cleaned it, added new bat insulation, did the external wall blown in insulation where they drill a couple holes every foot and blow it into the wall, redid the entire roof (complete with replacing a ton of bad rafters and fascia boards), painted the whole house, all new exterior doors and windows, landscaping, some sandblasting on my porch to remove the paint, and lastly, concrete work on the driveway. Although the roofing subcontractor was a total pain in the butt and was the worst possible contractor to work with, Josh mediated extremely well and still managed to get the job done as anticipated, within budget. I added scope on a few things from the original estimate, but the price was always competitive and reasonable for the work added. Sustainable Home Construction is a general contractor subbing out all of the work, but aside from the roofers, every sub he brought to the job was great and a total pro at what they did. Next was the billing after the project was done. Josh handled the financing with the bank (to work with the REEL loan requirements, submitting all necessary paperwork, permitting, etc.) and got it financed and handled really quick. It was effortless for us. Josh was extremely reliable, always easy to reach, very involved in the job, visiting frequently to manage the status and progress of each subcontractor, and honest/friendly to talk to. My particular project was a big one, it was over 50k, but I'm glad I did it. Now I've got the best looking house on the block if you ask me. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the result, and if I had unlimited money to throw at the house, I wouldn't hesitate to hire Josh and his company again. Professional, flexible, and timely. Couldn't recommend Josh and his team more for AC needs. New homeowners to a hoopty house (1955), that didn't come with AC. Josh and his team collaborated with my wife and I for the best placement/cost for a ductless minisplit and due to the nature of our house with poor ductal mapping, zone cooling via mini splits seemed the most beneficial. 3 condensers installed, 2 on the roof, 1 on the side of the house with a total of 4 mini splits, 1 in each room and 1 large one in the living room. They have a very experienced team working cohesively with effective communication wherein no setbacks were made during their primarily "1 day install". As quoted, they expected the install to be done in 2 days, but my wife and I were able to enjoy the benefits of cooling on the 1st night. 2nd day was primarily cleaning up/covering up lines and drains. Communication with Josh was impressive. Gets back fast, even going out of the way replying after hours. Answered all my questions after doing my own research of mini splits Vs central and x vs y brands, making a solidified decision was easy. Wife and I has lived in places prior with poor cooling and with these splits, we're chillin with Mr Freeze and Sub-Zero. Too soon? Sorry, had cold feet about using puns. Oops, another pun. I live in a condo and was going through the headache of dealing with the HOA after water damage from a damaged roof. My husband and I wanted to enlarge our front bedroom window, which at the moment is used as our office. We had a smaller 35"x55" window and were looking to go to 80" wide. The room is facing east, so it gets nice sun exposure in the morning, but the small window didn't bring much light in. The cherry on the top was that this entire project pretty much took one day to complete. The crew did their job efficiently while being neat and precise. The end result was/is amazing. The window is beautiful and brings in so much natural light. I was surprised at how much of a difference it made. The window even makes the room look bigger. I called Sustainable Home Construction to repair wood siding on my parents' house. Sustainable, via Josh, replied quickly and came out for a quote within a couple of days. Josh gave a very well written bid. After numerous other bids, we decided to go with Sustainable. Josh was very responsive and due to rain had to keep pushing out the work. We appreciated the care because rain would have ruined my parents' walls if work was done. Not only did Sustainable take down and replace the siding to match the rest of the home, but they painted a color match as well. Other companies I had contacted were refusing to match siding and refused to paint. After three days of beginning the job, the work was completed. We asked about gutters to stop the damage from happening again and Josh sent out his gutter guy John. The price was good and John did an amazing job! He not only matched the color scheme of the house but contoured the downspout to the home. We feel very lucky that the company just happened to be Sustainable Home Construction. We scheduled him to come give us an estimate for removal of old attic insulation, installation of new insulation, 2 Gable vents, attic fan, soffit vents all the way around the house and Radiant barrier.. I came across Sustainable Home Construction while searching for home energy audits. Our HVAC had gone out twice in the first year we bought our home, so we knew it needed replacement and I wanted insulation as well. I found myself in contact with Roman, who was super knowledgeable, quick to come out and give an estimate and explained everything in great detail to me and my family. We had the previous HVAC taken out - it used to be in a hallway closet, and Roman and his crew were able to put the new one in the attic, so we got a bonus closet space! So they put in a new unit, new vents wherever they were needed (oh yeah, old house so it had asbestos in the old ducts - they took it all out safely and put in fresh new ones, hopefully now all non carcinogenic!), filled the attic with insulation and built the new closet out of the old HVAC housing area. It was a lot of work for the various crews that came in, but everyone was super friendly and efficient and I think the whole project took 4-5 days. Anytime we had a question, Roman (and his subcontractors too!) was quick to answer. He explains things thoroughly and not in a way that makes one feel like they're stupid or being taken advantage of. It's hard to trust businesses, especially when the risk is your home, but we're glad to have found this company and had our improvements done. I know it will be beneficial for years to come as we grow in our household. I would have put 5 stars but I had to take 1 down because there was a lack of communication during an integral part of the process that gave me quite a bit of stress. I understand it was due to them being super busy, which is a blessing but does have an affect on some of the customers. Long overdue review. I purchased my home in Sept 2018 and focused on the interior of the house first. I live in an area of Whittier were many home have old single pane picture windows and I was looking for a contractor that could update one window on one side of the house while remove and relocate a window on the other side, in addition to replacing my old wood roof trim and re-stucco the house. When I met Josh, he was one of the only contractors that brought a sample window with him and he quoted a fair price and addressed my concerns: mainly the outdated picture windows that would transfer a lot of heat in the summer and cold at night. I had to hold a few months on the work but he was more than patient with me. Fast forward to the first day of the job, workers power washed the exterior of the house, and that alone already made the house look fresher. The following few days, workers removed the picture windows: one in the Master bath room and one in my son's bedroom. The Master bathroom got an updated window and my son's bedroom had the picture removed and relocated to a small window, since the other wall had a huge window already in place. Went with white stucco and black trim. My house got a definite facelift and received many compliments from the neighbors. In March 2021, Josh and his crew installed a new AC and a new tankless water heater for our first home. It was the first time we had ever worked with a contractor and Josh was incredibly informative, never pushy, and completely accommodating. He worked with us to find the right equipment within our budget, took time to explain the process of doing the installs, and updated us on any changes. And, this was in the midst of the pandemic, so he and his team had to make sure they stuck to our house rules and worked with us to make sure everyone was safe. They also installed a Nest thermostat, and removed our old janky gas wall heater. Honestly we still can't believe the dry wall patch work they did on the wall where the old heater was. It's like it was never there, and they matched the floor trim too. Everything is performing great.
