He was called by the cashier for fixing the error yet instead of refunding me the difference by cash which I never received in the first place he charged me twice for the item and didn't even want to give me the receipt and afterwards the receipt for cash was found in the trash can by his boss.....! After all his boss took care of the matter and refunded my cash back.....! Honestly I don't want to visit this store anymore since It feels suspicious and fishy......! I love this Smart and Final! First of all, the Air Conditioning is heavenly! Second of all, it's well behaved Pet Friendly! (I know I'm one of those people) Thirdly, there are always AMAZING deals! Remember to browse the clearance section for treats, we love scoring a pie for dessert for half price. The price on the large ulta-pasturized half and half is unbeatable. We get some of the basics here to keep well stocked in case the world loses its mind and we have to hunker down and be homebound. The cleaning products have a good selection of options too. If you want a treat, the mini chocolate croissants are lovely heated up at home. I have an active imagination, so when cruising the cooking aisle, I had to pause in awe of the big boxes of lard and beef shortening. I had recently spoken to my friend that just rode out the hurricane in New Orleans and my thoughts were on southern cooking as the previous week they caught a gator and were planning on marinating some if it and deep frying the rest.... The snack shack we do at our annual baseball tournament is usually a big fundraiser for our Cooperstown-bound team. But this year, COVID's effects still have a hold, and our snack shack did less than half what it usually does. Fast forward to the day after, the Supervisor, Joe, and Angel the check stand guy made the returns painless. We bought with previous year's quantities in mind, but ended up selling less than half. I've seen much bigger smart and finals before, so this is probably a smaller one relatively speaking but has mostly everything needed from Smart & Final. Shelves are mostly stocked, although greens and veggies could run out occasionally. Lines back up pretty often, but the workers try their best to open new registers when lines are out of control. read more

It's hit or miss when you go into the store. I like consistency but i haven't yet figured out the best time to go. I would like to go when the shelves are stocked but often times certain things are cleared out, such as water. I went in one weekend and this guy kept dragging out pallets of items to restock down several aisles. I guess he was annoyed because my cart seemed to be in his path everywhere i turned and/or he placed a pallet down the aisles. It seemed like he has a hard job but maybe do all that when its less busy. It could be a safety hazard too. Sometimes staff is friendly but usually not. One checker wanted me to hand her certain items off the conveyor in a particular order (chicken first... then whatever else she wanted next). I thought it was odd and the attitude was unpleasant. Keep in mind the customer may be limited in their physical capabilities so it's not easy for everyone to do what this cashier was demanding (reaching, lifting and using hands repetitively). Please be mindful. We had another weird experience with a young lady with very long (fake?) nails. It was difficult for her to perform the cashier duties with these nails and took too long. The nails were pretty but they got in the way and made customers wait much longer. Produce isn't always as fresh as it should be. Again, hit or miss. read more

This will be my final update. I have had it with this place. I have patient over the years as one can read in my previous reviews on this page. I'm done! This AM I was repeatedly blocked, cut off or ignored by store employees who seem to spend their time socializing with each other and ignoring the customers. Also today, there were several items that they were totally out of, including bananas. Unacceptable! Finally, in doing some recent price comparisons, it seems that about 90% of the items that I regularly by at S&F I can obtain at the Albertsons down the block for the same or similar price and besides they have more variety and some better items that S&F. Store is clean, well stocked with common items and yes the air conditioning works well. Good value on store brand items. This is a smallish store and sometimes it can be difficult to navigate with items to be stocked/restocked etc. S&F has gone downhill since being bought by a Mexican company in 2021. They have a high turnover of employees/managers (some don't even seem to speak english). Cashier errors like charging for the wrong type of produce or something that wasn't in your cart. I've noticed some store brands and healthy food choices are no longer available - there is lots of junk food though. Surprizingly there is a small organic produce section.There is no fresh fish available; it's farm raised (yuck) or frozen. The dairy isle has a fair selection of cheese but, good luck if you want something besides plain yogurt. Have found that they advertize items on special and may have NONE in stock. Caution; some customers have complained that meats didn't weigh as much as the sticker indicates (overcharge) and I've personally seen some rather disgusting produce, rotten/bruised apples, moldy onions, gross boc choy and celery. I've noticed disturbing trends where prices are either not marked or the price goes up at the check-out. I'm seriously considering shopping at another store... read more

I'm gonna cut to the chase. I got home realized I left my wallet in the cart that was sitting in the parking lot. I called and spoke with a cashier who put me on hold and later told me they found it! When I arrived 15 minutes later I met with the store Manager who verified ownership. Once confirmed, he informed me a new employee of only two days, who's name is Chris, went out brought it back and secured it with the Manager. I went up, shook Chris' hand, thanked him fully, and offered him a reward which he cordially declined. Chris was humble and busy stocking the store. Chris is an asset to the Smart and Final company. I thank him and the entire Smart and Final staff from the Manager to cashiers for being so efficient, professional and honest. read more

I felt good shopping at Tujunga Smart and Final when they had Covid precautions that included a single line around the side of the store and a screen that told when it was my turn at the register. Why did that system disappear??? Covid rates have risen! As they rise, safety precautions evaporate. Please! Now we are back to multiple lines. People going into the lines from the front of the store, driving face to face to get to the end of a line, or ignoring that there even are lines / standing by the front of the aisles, understandably wondering where to go to get cashiered. Social distancing is often disregarded altogether. On top of that, the payment system now requires that you wait for the cashier to allow you to insert your card and the approval is delayed. By that time, on my last 3 visits (I stopped shopping there as often), the next customer is right next to me. My daughter said to put my cart behind me as a buffer. The next customer just scooted on up to move my cart. I was not done. They were not being rung up yet, but even if they were, I believe the checker ought to wait until I am bagged and leaving. Please restore the great line-up system you had and have checkers deal with one customer at a time. It was better than before Covid. It worked. I had some nice conversations while waiting on the spots. The clever things printed on the spots were entertaining. I felt safe and respected. And I bet I wasn't the only one who bought more ice cream and wine while waiting in those departments. :-) read more

If you are looking for a place to shop where the customer is the enemy, this would be the place! This store is totally disorganized, the staff stocking the shelfs are rude, the checkout lines allow your frozen items to defrost before even having the opportunity to pay for them, and almost every time I shop there, they have some kind of cash register computer issue. Apparently today was "cash or credit only day", no debit cards, which would have been ok had they had a sign up front or announced it to all the people in line prior to them getting to the register. My unhindered credit card which to be inserted 3 times before it was finally accepted, and that was after standing in line for over 15 minutes watching those in front of me return items or fight with the clerk. (Mostly because no one told them their credit card processing system was not working, so these poor people had to dig through their wallets for cash, and return items they did not have enough cash money to pay for) There is always, ALWAYS, something grossly irritating about this store. I would just like to know one thing. Why can't they stock their store late at night, or early in the morning when it's not full of shoppers competing with the limited isle space in that tiny store? The really sad thing is that their stock clerks fully believe they have priority over shoppers. Better yet, why don't they just go out of business? As of today, I'm done shopping there! Their not so discounted prices do not warrant the mental abuse or anguish of shopping there. I continue to shop there, but I suppose I am to blame because I continue to go back. This place is an absolute joke when it comes to customer service. Their lines takes forever, the employees look like they're falling asleep half the time and instead of smiling and apologizing for lousy customer service, they just joke around with each other, like the customers aren't even there. The remodel is great! The in stock on shelves is nearly 98%. Great place to shop if you do not want to go to Costco and buy bulk items The negative issue is when they have deliveries and block the aisles with pallets that is hard to squeeze your cart by. Produce section is clean and fresh; fruit section is clean and has seasonal offerings. The checkers are always friendly and greet you with a smile no matter how long the line is.Parking is iffy due to the narrow travel lane and is on a slight slope so watch out when you want to unload your shopping cart that it wont get away from you! read more

I thought they're cheaper than most supermarkets. If you choose to buy less bulkier than Costco, this is a better place. I do highly recommend this super store for party favors, cake mixes, fruits , frozen food and basic everyday consumable items. Horrible customer service! Poor customer service, rude, and ignorant of common decency. Only one classy person in the entire store Aracely! She is a shining example and clearly alone. Staff and managers ( CONSISTENTLY) could care less to help! They act like they are inconvenienced when you ask a question. I was looking for a type of spirit, the so -called "manager" ( a tall young blond woman) stated that the cashier had the keys and they would help me find what I needed. She then dismissed me and went back to stocking. I approached the cashier at checkout, the cashier had a huge line and had to call the tall blond woman to bring the actual key as she was clueless on info just given to me from "manager". Then with other people in line behind me ( about 4/5) the tall blond woman , was condescending to the cashier and told her where the key was, it was very disrespectful to embarrass the cashier in front of customers. Clearly this blond manager should be demoted back to stock exclusively and should be leashed up and not be allowed to talk to customers, no less manage! In many occasions, I've waited in line, only to have several people behind me to be taken to a new opened line, while I'm still waiting. Avoid!!!!!! My wife had left me to find out about product they may have in the back, when this kid, with a greasy Beatle cut, comes out of the back. I call to him, "Excuse me?" He looks me in the eye, grins, turns and leaves. Without so much as a hello. The only reason this bugs me is I was not at my peak today, and I don't care how old you are, no one should be ignored. I feel bad being the first to review this place and giving it such a low rating, but I feel it is deserved. First, they are periodically out of products that they should have. Most of the time it is Bananas. I will go in there specifically to buy bananas (because they are cheaper than Vons) and they will be completely out. They give a different excuse each time. They are the only Smart and Final that I have been to that has this problem. Also, don't even think about trying to get ice here for a party. It may start out as cubes, but it is a block of ice by the time you buy it. Employees are half and half...some are friendly and competent and the others are disinterested and slow. Great store - Well organized and well stocked and a lot closer and more convenient than its competitive store (and you don't need a membership!) Also on a side note, the workers are real honest and friendly. I had to give this place at least a star so I can write the review but this place deserves no stars . First , I don't why this place still has the same staff. All the employees have horrible costumer service skills from the cleaner to the cashier. I would have thought smart and final would care for their costumers and at least try to clean the carts, nope not at all. But the employees sure have time to stand and talk nonsense. Roxanne I believe is her name, worse costumer service skills ever I don't know why they haven't fired her she's a liability waiting to happen. REALLY DISAPPOINTED! I always buy all of our office kitchen supplies there and I get great service. But when I called to get some information on pricing for a large order I spoke to Leslie or Letty, and was just really given the brush off. I was told that she was a manager, which I hope is not true because she was super rude, kurt and short. I cannot imagine that the manager is ruder and less professional that the actual staff is. I inquired about purchasing 50-70 cases of bottled water and no one was able to get me "out the door price" including tax and CRV. One of the associates actually tried to tell me that the total Tax and CRV on a case of water with 35 bottles costing $4.99 was only 21 cents, for a total of $5.20. I thought my request was simple enough, but Leslie/Letty felt it more important to Lecture me than assist me in obtaining the correct info. Perhaps it's time to go back to Costco... read more

FOOD POISONING !!!! Couple of days a ago we pick up the ROTISSERIE CHICKEN took it home and consumed with in 10-15 minuets which make my four year old daughter and I very sick. Getting better since it was converted into an Extra. They're bringing in more organic items and more fresh produce than before (organic grape tomatoes for $1.49-1.69!?!? yes please! That's at least a dollar below TJs or Ralphs.). Some really good sale prices at times. I see a lot of complaints here about the staff, but I've never had a problem. In fact, I was impressed by the store manager over 4th of July weekend when I watched him handle an incident in the parking lot promptly, professionally and effectively. I LOVE how they're taking the new (and extremely disappointing) Haggen store head-on in their in-store advertising. About the only gripe I have about this store is that parking can be difficult at times. The lot is just too small for the number of stores in this strip mall and a lot of the spaces are on an incline, which can be a challenge for those with mobility issues. read more

The name says it all: S&F = "Sauced and Foul"! At times I am forced to stop as it's off the freeway to grab a few decent deals. But I'm done! This is the most foul store! I've been to many markets (Super A, El Super) in East L.A., Pico & Montebello and they are much more professional. Coming here is like stopping into a dive bar on skid row NOT a grocery store! Some of the female employees start yacking at male employees who are just trying to do their job. Waiting in line, you're forced to listen to this stupidity! I think these women have been working there the longest and feel entitled and too way too comfortable. I grew up in a ghetto but that doesn't give me a license to make a low class fool of myself. They behave like they're already sauced. There are also 3 really nice lady employees so I feel sorry for them. Think you can get thru this dump & slip out faster? You'll pay the price during slow times when you're dead center of their gossiping clear across to their buddy in the next checkout stand. God forbid you should interrupt because they'll cop you an attitude. Good luck getting through the aisles when they're stocking up. They're so overcrowded you can actually get trapped! I have been shopping at this smart and final for meany years and for the most part found it to meet my needs. Lately I have noticed a change in the employees, it seams that the have discontinued caring about the customer and making the shopping experience as unpleasant as possible. Placing pallets and ladders in isles making it difficult if not impossible to get past. Recently I went there to purchase my favorite Coffee as I was getting pretty low and found the shelf empty, a little panicked I just decided to return the next day and found the shelf empty once again. Now I am really panicking and decided to ask for some help I searched all over the store and finally found an employee blocking the isle with a ladder and asked him if the store was discontinuing my brand of coffee, I gave him the brand name. He looked very perturbed and said he didn't know what I was talking about. I told him if he would fallow me, I would show him. Well now he is really upset and followed me part of the way. I showed him the shelf was empty and he reply's it's right here, so I walked over and looked where he was pointing and found what he was pointing at was some other brand. I told him no and told him the brand again and he showed me the same thing again. Well we went back and forth three times all the while he is getting louder and more condescending and started cursing at me and finally told me "why don't you just get the F out of here" so I did as a number of his coworkers were gathering and looking quite hostile.
