A delicious smoked turkey, turkey bacon, avocado, and aioli sandwich. Super friendly and quick service, so glad I stopped by.

    NOVEMBER RAIN

Small format is a cute, small café on Wickendon Street in Providence and somehow I had no idea about it until I forced myself to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. This cafe has several small and large size tables indoors as well as a few smaller tables outside adjacent to the street. I was absolutely clueless about what to get to drink and eat at this café. I asked the employee at the front and she gave me a thorough breakdown on what's on the menu. After much contemplation, I decided to go with NOT 4 VAMPIRES, which has Hashbrowns, Sharp Cheddar, Veggie Sausage, & house-made Whipped Garlic on a Everything Bagel (vegetarian). This sandwich was really delicious!! The overwhelming flavor was that of the sharp cheddar and hash browns as the vegan sausage was more mild. This sandwich looks small, but it will make you stuffed (in a good way), so come hungry. I also had a White Raz Mocha Latte and it had the perfect combination of coffee flavor along with some sweetness. The white raspberry mocha flavor is not one you see so often, so I'd go for it if you come. I can't say enough about the staff. Everyone that I've encountered there are hard workers, very kind and super knowledgeable. Please give them their well deserved tips because they certainly deserve it. -ODL Connect with me! Food: I love their breakfast sandwiches here! We tried the "not 4 vampires" sandwich on an English muffin, cheddar scone and on an everything bagel before. All versions were yummy! I also tried the November rain and it was also really good. For drinks, the salted caramel latte, the miso brown sugar latte, and the pistachio latte were my favorite! All are so good! Service: Their staff have always been so nice and friendly. Love the service there. Ambiance: It's a cute and small cafe. There are about 4-5 tables inside with seating so it's not that tiny. There are some nice art and plants inside as well. They also have some outdoor seating available as well. Parking can be tough because there's mainly just street parking. It's one of our fav new cafes in RI!

4 words: Miso Brown Sugar Latte. That's what the magicians at Small Format made for me the other day. That's what turned my day from disaster into doable. The employees here are so kind. I knew my latte was going to smack just by my interaction with them. That's when you know the aura is STRONG! As well as the Miso Brown Sugar Latte, I also ordered the "November Rain" sandwich which was egg, turkey bacon, hash brown, pepperjack, & sun dried tomato aioli. I asked them for hot sauce & gluten-free bread. This was my 2 PM breakfast of champions & it exceeded all expectations. Enthusiastic 5/5 stars!

Very sweet!!!! I stopped in quick for a latte and to check out if there were any vegan pastries, luckily there was one matcha lemon frosted sugar cookie left! I mentioned I was on the way to a job interview and the barista wrote me some luck and love on the cup that truly just made my whole day. I wish I took a picture of the cookie but I scarfed it down SO quick, it was so delicious! The seasonal maple latte I tried was awesome, can't wait to come back here & to try the other vegan specialty drinks & items!!!!

Small Format is an adorably cute cafe on Wickenden Street in Providence. The outside is colorful and definitely stands out on the street. The interior is tiny, but it's quaint and cozy. Be aware, however, that there is no restroom at this cafe, even for customers. I ordered a hot Brown Sugar Miso Latte with oat milk and the Not 4 Vampires breakfast sandwich with an egg added. Wow! I loved both of these items! The latte came in an adorable green glass mug and was sweet, but not too sweet. I liked the flavor combination of miso and espresso with the natural brown sugar sweetness. My critique for the latte would be that the milk texture was more like milk foam, rather than a nice, smooth steamed milk. But I still enjoyed it. The breakfast sandwich was so, so good! It was big and hearty and outrageously tasty! The garlic flavor was very pronounced, which I LOVE, and the sandwich stayed together as I ate it. It was like a comfort meal and it kept me full for a while. I also liked that it was served on a cutting board - very cute. The workers at Small Format were super friendly as well! Everyone was nice, helpful, and efficient. Great environment to enjoy your meal. I would 100% return to Small Format, and I highly recommend for others to give it a try too!

Not 4 Vampires - subbed egg for the vegan sausage

Small Format, perfect name for this little hole in the wall coffee shop. I've walked by so many times wondering, how is that spot? Looks fun in there.. Well today is the day. Parked my car down the street behind coffee exchange on Alves way and walked up. You can probably find street parking closer, but I like the walk. I bursted through the door all excited and didn't even realize they don't technically open for another few minutes- the staff was insanely nice though, 2 kind people greeted me with a smile, a good morning, and a welcome in. I took my time digesting the menu, asking some questions and I was happily given some recommendations. I ended up going with the "Not 4 Vampires" and what an aptly named sandwich this is. There is so much garlic flavor packed in here that I could feel my Italian ancestors smiling down on me from the great beyond. This is an ultimate comfort food sandwich. A grilled bagel, topped with a crisp and fluffy hash brown, whipped garlic, cheddar cheese and I subbed an egg for the vegan sausage. I really enjoyed it. It was so tasty, and the greens were perfect for eating up all the bits that fell out of the sandwich (and they will). It's jam-packed. Be warned, not for the faint at heart when it comes to garlic. Personally I can't have too much. I also got an Americano, tasted and looked like they used a light roast espresso- pulled a double shot and topped with roughly 3-4oz of water. It was such a nice ratio of espresso to water, I could still taste the espresso and it maintained a nice crema. So many places will just dump 12oz water over a few shots of espresso and call it a day, not here. Very well executed! I thought the space was fun, it's laid out to maximize the space, and the staff is amazing. It's also pretty much full service. They'll take your drinks to you as well as the food and will clean up after you head out. Will absolutely be back here. They have quite an extensive list of flavored coffee drinks/specialty lattes they make, not my preference, but if it's yours, might be worth the stop in as I believe they make most of their ingredients/syrups etc in house, similar to their condiments for the food.

On a fun and busy street like Wickenden, Small Format still stands out. Not only because of its colorful exterior or unique interior with different types of seats and interesting artwork. Small Format stands out with their friendly and welcoming staff, delicious coffee, and tasty food. When you visit, make sure you try their Coffee Cake... it's amazing!

Uhhhh woah. This place is amazing and I'm so glad we came across it. We were in town and I wanted a good coffee. This popped up so we gave it a try. The location isn't very big but so cool inside, the aesthetic was such a mixture of styles but it was so cute. Lots of small groups hanging out and some people working. Truly a place for everyone. The coffee drinks were fantastic and the baristas know what they're doing. The star of the show was the Not 4 Vampires. If you like garlic. Woah. It was AMAZING. Great coffee, great breakfast. Such a cool spot.

What an adorable coffee shop on a busy, fun street in Providence. The ambiance is comfy with different types of seating for your different moods, beautiful art installations and crafts displayed (and for sale), and a super fun menu. I had a lavender latte that was simply perfect. Not too sweet. The lavender simple syrup is house made, and they assured me I wouldn't be disappointed. They were right! My friend got a breakfast sandwich that made me very jealous. The folks working were so inviting and kind. Looking forward to going back!

Absolutely loved this quaint little coffee shop! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in picking the best beverage choice! Their lavender London fog was amazing! Can't wait to be back to try more of their brunch food!

I got the salted pistachio latte. The description of it tasting like melted pistachio ice cream is a great description. The space is small but has done a good job at maximizing seating options while keeping the space interesting and airy feeling

All the glowing previous reviews are spot on. Friendly folks, very much a community cafe. Cooperatively owned, and socially conscious. FOR GLUTEN FREE/CELIACS- see photo below. The GF coffee cake was so good, I didn't know whether to eat it or fuck it!

We ordered drinks before the meal. I had a Vermont Red Ale for the first time which was very good and worth remembering. At this time they were serving'cocktails for a cause' in support of the Alzheimer's Association, which my other half decided to have. The drink, Fuchsia Butterflies ($15), was made solarium gin, house-made lemoncello, with a Gran Classico & Violet Rinse. It was quite excellent. I had a sip to try (I am usually not one for cocktails) and enjoyed the taste. Perhaps I will try cocktails in the future. For food we shared curry moules frites, well done, just how I like them, and salt and vinegar Wings - tasty but too salty which detracted from the dish. We ended with a good chocolate mint creme brûlée. The check came to $80 to which we added a decent tip for our friendly server, Triston. We have always enjoyed the vibe and cozy environment of this place and are sure to return.

Not the kind of place I really want to sit in and enjoy a cocktail. Dungeon like. The music is loud hip hop, not something I mind, but worth noting if thats not for you. I sat at the bar, and honestly didn't feel like it was super clean. I don't think the counter had been wiped down for a while. Staff were doing their best but seemed overwhelmed on a Saturday night. I was watching them make the cocktails and did not feel like it was very sanitary. They've got one small sink they're rinsing everything in, they were chucking stuff, literally chucking and slamming metal. They were dumping out people's drinks into the same side of the sink and then rinsing in the other side. But stuff was splashing into what should be the clean side. It's not a good setup for a cocktail bar. The cocktail menu had 8 drinks on it, 2 they were out of. Nothing had whiskey in it. I got a drink called Darjeeling something. Really didn't like it, didn't taste balanced and it looked different than someone else's who ordered the same thing, not sure if the bartender forgot an ingredient. The bartender also wasn't tasting the drinks which I usually see to ensure it was made correctly. This one had curry in it as a listed ingredient and it was just way too strong a flavor. It was a rum drink with some mezcal but it just tastes like mezcal and curry powder. The place was pretty busy but people were coming and going frequently. There's only one bathroom which really isn't enough for a bar. Seems like there's potential here but I didn't like the menu offerings and the sanitary concerns leave me with no desire to come back here.

Every bite had great balance and you can tell they really care about the ingredients. One thing that really stood out to me was the seating. The Frida booths in the corner are the most comfortable restaurant seats I've ever sat in in my life. I could have stayed there all night. The atmosphere overall is fantastic. The lighting is mellow, the music is at the perfect level where you can actually talk without shouting, and the bartender was well-stocked and clearly knows what they're doing. Another bonus is the view. Looking out across the street at the park lit up at night is gorgeous and really adds to the vibe of the place. The only downside is parking, which can be a little tricky depending on when you go. But honestly, once you're inside and the food hits the table, it's totally worth it. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to

We ordered one taco each (different flavors) and neither of us could even finish it, it was that bad. Additionally, I have a severe gluten allergy and they were making an accommodation to what I ordered (grilled fish instead of fried), but initially when they brought me my taco, it had been made with fried fish and I had to tell them so that they could re-make it. I'm glad that I noticed, but because of that, I would not consider them food allergy-friendly and wouldn't risk eating there again. That being said, the waitress admitted that they were understaffed, so it's possible that we may have had a better experience on a different night.
