Gluten-free focaccia. I repeat, gluten-free focaccia. It's soft. It's pillowy. It's BREAD!!! So, so good. We absolutely love smack dab! Their peach jam breakfast Sammy is simply the bomb. Everything here is freshly made to order, with lots of care to keeping things healthy and clean. We love the food, we love the staff. Smack dab it's good! if we haven't made it to smack dab, we have not done Chicago!

Delicious! Sat outside since we had our dog with us. Our food was so good and the staff were all very nice.

Overall this is my Top 1 Favourite Spot of all time. If I can give a 100 stars this is it! This a not your ordinary cafe or anything you're thinking of. This is Smack Dab! The foods, drinks, snacks, vegan donuts are all the best in every way. Making there food delicious, healthy, guilt-free, many ways help our immune system, natural ingredients. This is the spot. The food feels like you're eating a delicious meal but it is light. Donuts everyday different flavours. The coffee drinks always delicious. Also this is vegan, vegetarian friendly, Gluten free friendly and religious dietary friendly here. The service always Everytime above and beyond the universe. They are so kind. They do go by pronouns here, it's on their name tag. We all love that. Owners are there, you will get to see them bc they are fanatic. When walking yes you will a lovely big spider with some sort of festive outfit!! And magnolia flowers around. Very chill vibes. As well it does get loud bc it is a sit in and dine in. There is a line time to time but the food and drinks are delicious. Also most of times, donuts do get sold out so hell come and get some. You can do take out, order online. This cafe is the best of the best. It's my approval of everything.

I just visited Smack Dab and I have to tell somebody about it. Y'all! First of all, they have so many great options for all the difficult people like me with dietary restrictions that don't make sense - gluten free vegetarian. I was still able to enjoy an amazing super filling breakfast sandwich with vegan sausage which is unheard of in most places. They are doing the good work. Secondly, they serve cafe du monde, which has its own distinct flavor but it is one I happen to LOVE! I had the Marie Louise and it was delicious! The gallery wall had me hooked and the staff were all so kind as I made my choices. And, the most touching thing is that when a man, who was clearly suffering from some challenges came in, they did not hesitate to feed him. My heart... there's still good people out here... I'm forever a fan.

Ambiance!

Good breakfast sandwiches and wraps. Tasty coffee options. A variety of dietary options. Fun/weird ambience. You order at counter. But food is brought out, servers were attentive. A little pricey for what you get though. $80 with tip for 3 people with lattes and OJ. So keep that in mind.

Smack Dab Chicago is a gem in Rogers Park! Gourmet breakfast sandwiches, donuts, and coffee with a side of awesome vibes. Love the inclusive options - vegan, veggie, and gluten-free eats for everyone! Food was DELISH, and the atmosphere's got that perfect community spot feel. Worth every penny (even if prices are a tad steep). Can't wait to come back for more brunch magic The service was impeccable too

Super friendly staff. I was greeted with a big smile and huge thanks for coming in for my first time. I was on my bike looking for a unique and healthy stop for lunch with outdoor seating. Delighted to find Smack Dab- yummy green Sammie and coffee with gluten-free cookie will fuel me for my ride back to Chicago. Thank you!

What a gem! I have celiac (gluten free) and they had a ton of gf options! I got the strip mall bowl and an iced matcha and it was so filling I had to take leftovers! It's very refreshing to see a place be so firmly itself and its beliefs, with reminders about the servers' pronouns and political messages throughout. Definitely a community spot, lots of regulars and it's clear to see why. Expect a bit of a wait on weekends, but it is very worth it.

We had an impromptu brunch here and love a good shaded patio. They were okay with pets and the food came out quick. We ordered for two ppl and got Golden chai, Salted Carmel latte, The bestest sandwich, and The best sandwich all for $47. They have GF/Veg options available and overall the food was seasoned well and the eggs were fluffy. Plenty of parking options and seating inside and out. Would recommend!

these breakfast sandwiches are insane. everything is so fresh, the bacon jam compliments the flavors so well, and the biscuit is super soft

Inclusive and tasty place for breakfast/brunch. Many vegan options and non-pork for folks like me. It's a counter service place. Place your order, find a seat and it will be brought to you. Everything is made to order. Modern pop hits plays on the speaker and funky art and witty quotes line the walls.

Got breakfast here on a Saturday morning around 10:30am. Definitely kid friendly, and the staff are super sweet. We got our food quickly, and it came out as it was made which is always a benefits when you have kids. The place is cute, LGBTQIA friendly, pro-Palestine, incredible. The food... very good, but I think I liked the vibe more. I got the breakfast burrito with smoked bacon, I think I wanted less egg more burrito ingredients like beans, salsa, something along those lines. It was more of a breakfast wrap. But a VeryVery good breakfast wrap. My partner got a Shakshouka breakfast sandwich which looked and tasted great. Lots of flavor is what I am told. My kiddo got a donut, tempered hot cocoa and loved it all. Great New Orleans style coffee, wonderful environment.

First of all, everything about this place is amazing! The food & drinks, the consistent mutual aid efforts, the moral backbone of the owner & staff, the community engagement & support, the welcoming atmosphere, comfortable dining experience, and more... I enjoyed a knockout spicy peach sammie on a bogo deal so I could enjoy one for me and drop off one for the community fridge! And 5% of my order total went to two families affected by ICE abductions! I also scooped 5 ICE spotter whistles for free to pass out to my crew. Love this place !!! Not to mention I once placed a large order and received a surprise free take-and-bake cinnamon roll kit that was absolute perfection!

How do you handle cross contamination for customers that have celiac disease? Do you use different cooking space? Toasters?

Hi there! We cut our gluten free bread with separate knives on clean boards, toast celiac bread in the oven on a separate tray away from our main toaster... plus we change out gloves, pans, spreaders, etc. while there is no separate cooking area, we…

Do-rite, Voodoo, Firecakes, even Stan's under some conditions; Doughnut Vault beats them all! Maybe it's because they were made an hour or two ago? Maybe they use better/fresher oil? I don't know, and frankly, it makes no difference to the smile on my face. The two donuts I had that day were their daily specials. IIRC, one was a Salted Caramel Old Fashioned, and the other was a Yeast Apple(something) filled donut. The Old Fashioned blew me away. The dough had a very light, but nonetheless present crispness from being fried. The dough itself was sweet, and the salted caramel coating was on point, with actual salt notes coming through. The apple-filled was similarly delicious, though I regret cutting this into pieces and enjoying it over three days, for this made it seem like there was not enough filling! Learn from my mistakes, and enjoy these things whole! More to love is that their prices are more than reasonable for the quality, and the service is friendly, knowledgeable, and fast! If there is one quibble that I have, it's that the donuts were just a touch sweeter than I would prefer. However, this is a matter of personal preference, since these are donuts for crying out loud! Final verdict: Best donuts ever! Go! Do!

Before we looked at the menu he showed us the variety he had left. 9/10 service, definitely a fun way to start the day! This was actually my first time trying an old fashioned donut. The pistachio old fashioned was nothing too special. It tasted more like a dense cake, was slightly oily, but I did like how dense and filling it was. 6/10. Definitely want to come back earlier next time to try more of their flavors!

I wasn't particularly impressed by the selection, and the freshness of the donuts left something to be desired. The presentation also took away from the experience. Seeing donuts sitting exposed in boxes where customers can easily view them isn't particularly appealing and doesn't create the freshest visual impression. I tried the maple pecan glazed donut, which was overwhelmingly sweet. Even after just one bite, the intense sugar rush was immediate and overpowering, making it difficult to enjoy the other flavors. The vanilla donut was the better of the two--pleasantly doughy, though it still lacked the freshness I was hoping for. Overall, this was an average experience. The donuts were serviceable, but neither the selection, presentation, nor freshness gave me much reason to return.

It also doesn't hurt that they are open from 6am to Midnight - perfect for those sudden doughnut cravings! One thing that can be improved is how they handle big orders. I recently ordered over 5 dozen doughnuts and it came in 6 boxes and a small bag. First problem: they don't deliver. Second and bigger problem is that they don't pack big orders so you can carry them out. How the heck am I going to carry 6 boxes and a bag of donuts??? Maybe they want to keep their business "small". A simple brown bag or even something to tie the boxes together would have been very helpful.
