Their breakfast and drinks are delicious, and I really appreciate what they do for the community, as well as their social distancing measures. They have frozen pizza you can bake yourself, and they also do weekly grocery pickups for community members. read more

Great place! Love the cold brew coffee with oat milk paired with a boat of yummy donuts!

I absolutely love this place. There food and beverages are AMAZING. So many special in-shop ingredients, and those jams, my lord. How delicious they are! Also such a chill, friendly, inclusive environment. I hope the eventually move to a larger location, because I know that they will fill the place with loving customers immediately. read more

I LOVE Smack Dab so much! I was back in Chicago for work and had to swing by to visit and boy have they changed in the past two years since I left the city! They started as a pop-up and their location now is cozy and has a great community feel-I brought all my friends here when they visited. The owner is a white woman and though I'm not sure if she's 'family', the store is absolutely queer welcoming/centered and forward when it comes to social justice such as paying living wages and health insurance for employees. Their menu has expanded A LOT but I still go for the classic egg and cheese biscuit sandwich with tomato jam and chive mayo spread. Their coffee/teas are very tasty and the coffee comes from DeWit, a local roaster (also queer friendly). If you're in Rogers Park or Andersonville I recommend paying this place a visit. They have a lot of veggie/vegan items and how could I forget, DONUTS! Many are vegan and they usually have really interesting flavors like black current, all are cake donuts. read more

Smack Dab - Really cute and they've expanded their menu a lot since they were a pop up! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

See all

Came here for breakfast one day and thoroughly enjoyed it! Everyone working was very nice. We each got a breakfast egg sandwich and they were really good. I built my own and had the tomato jam on mine which I can still think about how good it tastes now, a month or two later ha. We also got fresh fruit cups and iced coffee, both were high quality. We were cutting it close to their closing time between brunch and dinner, so we sat outside on their cute patio and they didn't mind that we hung out past closing. Loved the stainless steel reusable cups and straws our iced coffees came in. Definitely will be back! read more

The donuts are just ok, but after picking up a dozen and seeing the price!? I realize they must actually be the best donuts ever!

Overpriced, gentrified, performative hipster BS. No iced cappuccino, ok. No caramel cappuccino, ok I'll just have a cappuccino. 20 minutes later I get 3/4 foam cup with enough salt to be sponsored by Morton's. The veggie burrito was incredibly bland, and what hipster joint doesn't have avocado, come on that's like your one thing. The cinnamon roll was burnt to a crisp and tasted like play dough. We were told the patio was closed despite 10+ people eating takeout out there. The side of "Mexican rice" was just rice pilaf with some baby corn lmao. And charging a "healthcare fee" is just laughable. Overall Clark St could use another taco joint, this place is terrible :) read more

This place is ok. It's mostly people using the WiFi and drinking coffee. Nice ambience but the food didn't really wow me. The donuts were ok. The breakfast sandwich I had was decent but it's not filling. If I'm paying over $12 for breakfast I want to feel satisfied. read more

Very tasty food. A little expensive, but worth supporting a local neighbor restaurant. The store is small and seating limited. Has seasonal outdoor seating. read more

I wanted to like this place... I tried hard to like this place, but I just couldn't. We tried their donut boat - 3 pieces of donuts that are supposed to be cake, but we're kind of rubbery, flavorless, and blah. I love carbs, I love fried anything, but I ate about 1/3 of it and threw away the rest. I got a latte and coffee for my other half, it was too acidic tasting. Biscuits and wonderful service from the crew are the only things that's getting this place 3-stars. We ended up stopping at another place on our way to get our coffee fix. read more

I go here all of the time and my only complaint is that I cannot go there without ordering a damn doughnut (they do often run out of the frosted ones, so you need go early). They. Are. Amazing. The pizza on the weekend is so, so good! I love the vegan meat options and the varied toppings, like the buffalo cauliflower. A true gem in Rogers Park. read more

Love this place! My boyfriend and I came on a Sunday morning and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. He got the Bestest Seller and I got the Indian Omelet sandwich on Texas toast (a special) as well as the vegan Thai iced tea. Both sandwiches were super tasty and perfectly warm. We will be back! You can pre-order with them online, grab your food to go, and drive to the lake for a perfect lakeside breakfast. read more

Tried some left over potato hash and a plain chocolate donut that a friend bought: both were pretty tasteless. I was surprised. Awhile back I did really enjoy the breakfast sandwich. Now that I have had gourmet donuts, I don't see how these are special. read more

The food is always great at this place I have ordered sever times from here usually grub hub and it's always consistent and fresh. And I love the little note the restaurant puts on the bag, just brightens up the day.. one of my personal favorites items on the menu is the banana bread and their donuts...so fresh and so flavorful.. not overly sugary just right and has the perfect amount of sugar. The Pizzas are amazing my favorite is the vegan pizza and I am not even vegan, I have tried all the sandwiches and they are just so good and delicious. I recently tried their bagel with smoked salmon and it's so fresh. My kids hate salmon but love the bagel with smoked salmon.. everything here is fresh and really delicious. I have been to the restaurant once and the staff is really courteous and friendly.. definitely a great spot to grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich. read more

Amazing breakfast sandwiches, great Rogers park spot. I miss the pre-pandemic menu and seating. Was good vibes. Still good vibes and still great food. Yay read more

This place has amazing food! You have to go here, once you do you'll be hooked. The bagel sandwich is a must try and the almond croissant is a delightful treat. read more

Delicious. Amazing. Nice people. I want jars of the tomato jam. Why are you so far north.

I love their selection of vegan AND gluten free items. Such a cute space for dining in. The staff is always so super friendly and you can tell they really care about what they do. read more

I love this place! It's such a cute little cafe right smack dab in west Rogers Park. It's perfect to grab an amazing latte, cappuccino or whatever coffee you like. They play great music inside and it's just an amazing vibe! Food wise they got you covered! They have some really interesting doughnuts that come in these crazy flavors! On my visit, I saw a cold brew doughnut that was vegan! I wish I would have tried it but it look bomb! I decided to order their popular breakfast sandwich, it's called the best seller. It was amazing and monstrous! It is very much worth the 9 bucks because of the time, amount of layers of flavor that go into that sandwich. On top of it, you will be full ALL day--I'm not even kidding. It's not greasy at all or dripping with sausage juice where you need 10 napkins to eat. You will need elbow room though because it's so big. You need that sandwich and a nice cup of coffee to start your day. read more

idk wtf they put in that smokey burrito but its literally so freaking good. i visit my friend quite frequently in the city and every morning we get this burrito and it just fixes all of last nights problems. read more

Their food is delicious and the employees are very friendly and personable. I had grilled cheese and tomato soup with a cold brew with a vanilla shot. All perfect! They have both regular and vegan options so there's something for everyone. They also do community dinners often. The only downside I'd say is the prices are a tad bit steep. Otherwise I'd give it five stars. But I'll definitely be back! read more

First time going to the new location. Staff is nice and friendly. I ordered a sausage and egg sandwich with cheese on a cheese biscuit with spicy mayo. Love the cold brew. When I was working in the neighborhood I would always go to their pop up at the red line tap. Took two cheddar biscuits to go. I would come back here to try other things on the menu. read more

Great place, but hip doesn't have to be shabby. It's a bit overwhelming to eat in there.

Exceptional EVERYTHING! The lovely folks at this hidden gem create magical, luscious foods, including vegan and gluten free options. I had the most delicious breakfast sandwich with sauteed kale, eggs, fresh toasted sourdough bread .. it was fab! Equally fab is the staff. They could not be sweeter! I left my credit card in the machine and went outside to wait for our food. They realized this, grabbed the credit card and kept it safe until I entered for our food. How amazing is that? Smack Dab rocks! We'll be returning customers for sure! read more

LOVE this place! The breakfast sandwiches, vegan donuts, and chaufa are to die for. Also love that they care about the community.

AMAZING breakfast sandwiches! The gluten free cheesy cornbread is delicious. Super open and welcoming environment.

service is awesome.. it was crowded but come about 1its less crowded. food is delish native maple coffee is really good. the chocolate peanut butter doughnut was good. finaly the scramble hash was really good. well balanced. read more

Love this place. Great vibe. Locally owned coffee house that offers delicious options. Pizza is tasty but my favorite is build your own breakfast sandwich: biscuit, egg, housemade sausage, and bacon jam. They are so nice and even offer a community meal every week, so if your hard up on cash and need a meal you can get one for whatever you can afford. Highly recommend supporting this inclusive and fun place. read more

Gluten-free and vegan options! The food is just delicious. I can't stop thinking about that Sassafras coffee; imagine the best root beer float. read more

I love everything about Smack Dab. I've been going since the beginning to the standalone & the pop-up. -(Rip for now to the latter.) The food is incredible & made with love. I especially love their biscuits & quiche, (so. many. choices.) but I've recently discovered their dinner time pizza on the weekends & I was blown away. Some of the best pizza I've ever had! That's saying A LOT. They also make really unique & fun donuts. (Piña Colada, Coffee etc.) Oh & they are not your traditional donut which is a plus due to them lasting well over a day on the freshness. Not to mention we've scored many a free donut upon leaving if they have too many. They do not like waste! Gotta love that. Anyway, I've also become obsessed with their coffee drinks & I'm not even a huge fan of coffee! They are delicious! Every one I've tried. The employees & owners are also exceptional folks. I even love the emails they send out! Who says that?! I'll continue to be a loyal regular. read more

Loved my sandwich!! Can't wait to go back. My iced chai was so good as well, more on the spicy side - which I love!

Our friends in Rogers Park raved about this place and now we are huge loyal fans. Smack Dab rocks not just because ALL of their food and deserts are delicious, but also because they are a business that is full of lovely people with great customer service. Always fast for delivery, and their prices are great for the quality of food you get. Will always support this awesome local business. read more

Best breakfast sandwich ever. Love the staff and love their dedication to the community! Also their pizza is to die for

Got a delicious dinner here! Easy sandwiches, pizza, salads, and more! All with vegetarian, vegan, and non-dairy options! (You can even get a slice of non-dairy pizza!! Woot woot!) read more

I love his place to bits. But the prices have gotten out of hand since they opened. $5.25 for a cold brew with light ice (they charge $1 extra if you ask for light ice). AND, it's just Half-Wit coffee. read more

Worth the money every time! The food is delicious; So comforting like someone who loves you made it. I have done pickup and delivery service, and both are great in terms of friendliness, social distancing, and communication. These are really thoughtful people who put love and care into their food. They also provide for those who are vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, and take into consideration any allergies one might have. Also, their donuts are my #1 donut, I'm addicted!! I love supporting this local business. Five stars! read more

The biscuits are amazing! And the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. Wonderful and kind staff. Can't wait to go back!

Incredible food and service...best gluten free pizza & cookies in Chicago! One time one of the employees left a no-contact order at my door and let me know that the lemonade was left out and they were gonna go get it ... I figured it was in the car, but turns out they drove all the way back to smack dab and back to bring me a lemonade!! I never would have expected anyone to do this, but it just really illustrates one of the many ways smack dab employees have gone above and beyond. read more

I love this place! I went for the first time this morning and was warmly welcomed into their space. They have fresh made donuts and biscuits, an assortment of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options! Their food looks amazing, but I just got a latte this morning. Tried oat milk for the first time and it was delicious! I live walking distance from this place, but so rarely make it before they close at 1 pm! Definitely worth the trip. The staff is kind and welcoming and they obviously support the LGBTQ community, which I love. I will keep coming back! read more

Food quality is superb, however very overpriced. I understand this is a small business in the neighborhood and everyone needs to make money but your food costs are not that high (Especially with donations of food from other organizations) to be charging $11 for a breakfast sandwich especially in the Rogers Park area. Its mainly a low income area. They do things for the community which is great like host a free dinner etc, but I am just not okay with the pricing here personally. Apparently Vegans are rich? If you want great quality food and more bang for your buck, go to Alexander's diner a little further south on clark & granville. read more
