We were seated by the door to the bar area which inexplicably still reeks of smoke even after years of California's no smoking anywhere laws. Again Sloans never lets me down. For Valentine's Day the hubby and I decided to go for dinner. And let me tell you We were not disappointed! We had such a horrible experience, the restaurant was so stuffy and gave me an anxiety, the only thing where the air flows is from the front door, it desperately need decor update, The service wasn't great as well, the waitress didn't even check up on us nor have gotten our waters until we had to stop a busboy to get it for us. The food was not something I would feed my family we had their German Pancake which that's the only thing we ordered that was edible, my husband had Porkchops and Eggs with Hash Brown, we had to send it back to the kitchen it was still raw, my kids had their kid's breakfast meal, the scrambled egg was so overcooked and the sausage had an after taste to it. Overall it's not something I'd recommend, I'm surprised that it had so many stars but then again the people that come here aren't from here, they're out-of-towners. This is a great spot for comfort foods for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I've never been disappointed within anything I've ordered. A few favorites are the cheeseburger salsa and chorizo meatloaf. Fantastic Belgium waffle with perfect ratio of whipped cream to strawberries. Home fries with onions tasted great, and my egg-white omelette was delicious. If you are coming off an all nighter at Coachella fest- or 3 or 4 nighter- or you have been driving all night and you are starving or nursing a klller hangover, then you will like the breakfast here, which is enough to put you into cardiac arrest. Seriously these other reviews MUST not be legit. I've been here twice. First time it was a group meeting situation. The restaurant smelled, was dirty and service terrible. We tried to talk to a manager - some guy more interested in schmoozing than running the operations of the restaurant. He was a arrogant waste. Second time I went with a friend (maybe the first time was a fluke?). Not! Food was awful - the restaurant was run down and dirty(er). I was aghast to see a roach crawl up the wall. Yes - a roach. I was in Indio for business I looked on Yelp and found Sloans with all its great reviews. I stopped in and had a delicious breakfast. I ordered my bacon crisp and although that sounds like a simple request 5 out of 10 restaurants get it wrong. Sloans had it perfect. I ordered hash browns and often times restaurants cook the hash browns with oil that is too old so the potatoes take on a bad flavor. Sloans hash browns were magnificent. My eggs were perfect and my pancakes were delicious. If im ever back in the area I would be definitely stopping back again. I loved it. And as a side note, I ate there with a friend of mine that is a professional chef. And she felt the same. read more

I have been here a few times now because it is on the way to work, but I am going to have to find somewhere else to go!!!! I wasn't expecting much - well because it is just a coffee shop type restaurant - but the food is bad even for a coffee shop. Not only is the coffee weak but it has an off flavor. I got eggs but never got toast. But my favorite part was the HASH BROWNS. I still can't figure out how they made them look like, have the consistancy of, and taste like particle board. I was out in Indio for the Coachella Music Festival with my fellow lovers of music and breakfast. After 20 miles of walking and hours of partying, we were in need of a hearty breakfast prior to our last day at the festival. Sloan's was in the "Area Guide" from our hotel and I was sold with two words in their add: "Breakfast" and "Cocktails." I headed to Yelp on my Blackberry and saw great reviews so we ventured into town to find this great location. The main restaurant area reminded me of any other generic restaurant. Lots of tables and windows, nothing out of the ordinary. My friend went to the restroom and came back to where we were waiting to be seated and said there was a lounge area in the back with open tables. We were able to be seated back there in a comfy booth. The lounge was much darker than the restaurant area, which was awesome since we were sleep-deprived and hungover. The walls were adorned with regular bar decorations: beer neons, beer signs, and other kitchey decor. The bloody Maries needed a bit more spice, but the margaritas were delicious. I had the country fried steak skillet and could only finish a third of it, regardless how hard I tried to finish. I've never had a more tender country friend steak before. My friend had the nacho omelet and said it tasted just like a nacho. Breakfast and nachos - a great hangover combination. Our servers were all very friendly and quick to bring our drinks, food, and check up on us. The people at the tables around us all seemed to be regulars. I found out someone became a grandparent the day before and another group doesn't go to Coachella but the Stagecoach music festival. My 4 girlfriends and I went here for brunch during Coachella weekend 2, and it was crazy packed. There is plenty of parking. However, the front desk had a clip board to take names. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of seating they accommodate. With about 20 people waiting to be seated we were seated in 15 minutes. Fantastic. We had a very sweet waitress consider there were 5 Chicana's barking requests and orders to her. The food was tasty with the exception of the fruit plate. The hazelnut French toast and spinach omelet (add bacon) were tasty! Overall the service is pretty fast, and attentive considering it was packed with other concert goers. This is my new spot for breakfast or brunch the next time I am attending Cochella. read more

I have lived in Indio for over 3 years and never came to Sloan's until we wanted to try something different. I ordered the honey dipped chicken from the country dinner section. I am from Texas and expected more. It came with 4 pieces of chicken, 2 of which were small wings. I wanted to order some sides appropriate for a country meal such as mac and cheese, corn, beans, or a biscuit. All that was available was rice or mashed potatoes with green beans and a piece of bread with cheese that looked like it was from the day before. The meal was also over priced at $17.99. If you add up the lack of side items, the small chicken portions, and the high price you will come to your senses and go somewhere else. Great choice for breakfast - especially if you're looking for something similar to, but a big step up from IHOP or Denny's. Great selection of your standard breakfast items, as well as a few unique dishes like German pancakes and a chile relleno omelette. They have great pancakes, the best country fried steak in the desert (per my mother), fluffy homemade biscuits, and excellent egg dishes (omelettes, scrambles and such). If you like spicy, ask for the ranchero sauce on the side - it's great on eggs or country potatoes/hash browns. Oh, and the portions are huge, so be prepared to be full until dinner. Not a place for foodies or health conscious diners. Seems to be popular with the locals - most of whom were quite large. I ordered a vegetarian omelet. I like my omelets fluffy - this was paper thin, flat and tasteless - there's no way they used real eggs. The decor is low rent with old tables, old chairs and old booths with seats so worn even the tiniest butt will sink a good 4 inches. The ceiling however is amazingly beautiful - made of wood beams. It must have cost a fortune - and apparently there wasn't money left to purchase high quality food products. read more

Now it's Sloans. I'm extremely picky about prime rib and beef all together since I don't eat it very often. Their PR is so flavorable and soft it just melted in my mouth! My family and I have been coming to Sloan's for years! We absolutely love this place. We had a party of 14 on Sunday and the breakfast and lunch items that we ordered were delicious. I even here about five times. Everything is great. The price is great. Breakfast , I think is the high point. Huge portions, great pancakes. We take half home and have the rest for breakfast the next day. Have eaten in the bar area too. Kind of dive bar, in a good way..:). Went for Monday night football, and we kept getting free beer, how great is that. Happy hour is all night. I hear the fish tacos are great , but haven't eaten them yet. My boyfriend had the best patty melt of his life here. Service is always fast an efficient. Atmosphere, is well..kind of tired and dated, but hey, great food, great service , great price.
