15 years strong with Sloan, and they never disappoint! This mom-and-pop business has been my go-to for years, thanks to their top-notch service and friendly team. Margie in admin is a gem, and Jacob (who I believe is the son!) went above and beyond when I needed help--showed up right away and fixed everything! Highly recommend Sloan to all my friends and family for reliable service you can trust. #SupportLocal #HighlyRecommended read more

I've had this security service for a long time -- since 2010! Great experience until this last year, when I cannot get a call back for customer service. I call and call, text and text. No. Call. Back. I'd really rather not change my service, but I might have to. I guess I'll try showing up at the physical place as one last effort, but I see that other people on here are being treated the same way. They sure like to get my money every year -- low cost, but come guys, this is terrible read more

We have used them for years and had an error with the system. I called and texted for three weeks but never received a response. The call center tried to help but they also couldn't get them to respond. read more

Our service was disconnected June 16. I've been reaching out to cancel our service, 3 emails (6/16, 6/22, 6/26), and 3 calls/voicemails (6/17, 7/11), but no response. I don't know how else to get in touch with anyone, please assist! admin@sloansecurity.com (512) 312-0205 read more

Sloan Security has been our monthly security service since 2006. We have been so pleased with their work and the technicians response to repairing and updating our security needs. Their monthly price has been most agreeable to our budget requirements. read more

Had Sloan install my system several years ago-installation did not go well and was pretty frustrated with techs they sent out. Calls to discuss with owner were pretty unsatisfactory. I've stayed on with them as the annual charge to monitor is low. A recent repair left me furious. My garage door sensor was giving false alarms...while I was out of town I arranged for a tech of theirs to come out...the bill they gave my wife to replace ONE GARAGE DOOR SENSOR was $357. I was absolutely stunned. I was charged $120 for parts...looking up the parts online with exact maker and pt numbers they totaled $57. $210 labor to replace a door sensor...I asked for no diagnosis, simply to replace. When I called Sloan the woman I spoke to was hostile and defensive...they have had this call before. Never again will I call this company out. read more

When I moved into my house in 2001, it had a security system installed but needed some updates. I got ADT to come out and do it and signed a 3 year agreement at $38 per month, it worked out okay, but I was paying about $425 for not much service. I then learned about Sloan Security Systems and that they used the same call center in San Antonio that ADT uses, and the cost is about $120 per year. Its great if you already have a working system and you just want to pay less. I did need to have one of the cards in my control box changed out and I think the service call and the new circuit card cost me about $180. Every time that Sloan comes out they are going to charge you about $50 for a service call. I guess that is how you stay in business. The owner, Mr. Sloan I guess, is an older gentlemen and not very friendly on the phone. I guess he is tired of working with a lot of dumb bunnies and may just be frustrated. But, he could use some Customer Service Training. He reminds me of the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld. No more Security for you! If you are a drama queen, can't handle rude, straight talking people, you may want to go with ADT or Brinks. But if you are a person who can put up with some BS, just for a few minutes, you'll find that the service is extremely fast and reliable. You do need to check your system every couple of weeks or every month. read more

We have used Sloan Security for 18 years. Obviously we think they are fabulous. They respond quickly when you need something, they are knowledgeable, and they are reasonably priced. We are very pleased with Sloan and recommend them strongly. Linda read more

I have been using Sloan Security since 2009 with two homes in different parts of the City and highly recommend their service. They are reasonably priced and easy to work with regarding technical issues. Transferring service from homes was a breeze and when I move here in a couple of months I will be calling Sloan Security to set up my service in my new home as well! read more

Really happy with everything to do with Sloan! Moved into a condo that already had the equipment installed by them so we called and found out it was $120 A YEAR for monitoring. Jacob, poor Jacob. We've never has a security system so we had a gazillion questions and he was very patient with us. So nice and prompt and helpful. read more

This is a terrible company. If you are looking for an alarm company to set up security for you, I recommend looking elsewhere. The technician that came out for the install was rude and apparently needed to be somewhere else. When you need assistance, the customer service is appalling. Do not be lured in with the cheaper prices, get piece of mind and go with a more credible and reliable company. read more

We've been using Sloan Security since 2007 when we upgraded our security system. Their technicians are knowledgeable and helpful, and they have the lowest cost monthly rate I've seen. I recommend them without reservation. Dan read more

These guys are amazing! Been with them for 13 years. Great customer service. Knowledgeable and pleasant. Monitoring is excellent too!

I have been a customer of Sloan Security Systems for years. I recommend them for security installation and monthly monitoring.

I've used Sloan for 10 years now with no issues at all. Tech calls have been returned promptly, the monitoring service is responsive, and the price is right! read more

Used Sloan for years. Initially when they set up my system, it had a trouble signal when the tech was done. He told me that he programmed it correctly and that he didn't know why. He said not to worry about it and left. They came out several times after that to work on various issues with the system because it was never installed correctly. (By the way, you will probably end up paying more to use them when you factor in all the service calls involved) Eventually, I got fed-up with paying them to come fix the system, so I downloaded a DSC manual off the internet and figured out how to program it myself. After years of being their customer, I had to move. I had just paid them the yearly monitoring fee (it's $20 a month if you have a cell backup) when I found out I was moving. I called Bob and asked him if they would prorate the year for me since I couldn't use it anymore. He said no way. I told him I was going to report him to the BBB. He responded "I'll find out what you do, and I'll go online and say stuff about you." I then asked him if he thought it was fair that I had to pay him for months of service that he wasn't going to provide me. He laughed and said "Are you that hard up for money?" He then went on and on about how much ADT charges. Not surprisingly, when I went to the BBB website I found that they already had an "F" rating. This company is incompetent and unprofessional. I would avoid them at all cost. read more

We've had Sloan service 2 houses over a period of 6 years now. Initial service/interactions were great for the price. We had horrible interactions with them in 2014 when trying to upgrade that resulted in numerous argumentative phone calls and inappropriate bills. Once straightened out, we stuck out the remaining 11 months we had paid for until we had a new company take over/switch out systems to provide services that Sloan could not. New company comes out today and finds out that the Sloan technicians never reconnected our old system to the phone lines for monitoring the last time they were out 11 months ago. Informed Sloan of that when cancelling this morning and simply got a "yeah, we let that technician go a while ago"... no offer of a refund or any retribution - but why would I expect otherwise since we were changing companies. read more

I was ripped off by Sloan Security Systems. A neighbor recommended them because we wanted to "go local." After two months I still have not had any service, no customer service either. When I sent an email to my neighborhood association asking if any of the Sloan users had checked their systems, I got horror stories like one customer that found out that they had never been monitored for 2 years! I have official complaints on this company to their licensing agency. They are beyond bad, I think they perpetrate fraud and I have several testimonials and a legal complaint to prove it. read more

I found out that they weren't monitoring my alarm after I was broken into and NOTHING happened. They proceeded to tell me that it was my responsibility to make sure they were monitoring it by calling them intermittently to make sure that the system is still connected. My response was to tell the owner to cancel my service. Imagine my surprise when they sent me a bill to renew the service. read more

I've been a satisfied customer with Sloan Security for a number of years and never had a problem. The initial activation work was a bit high, but the low annual fee more than made up for it. read more

Our experience with Sloan has been great. Value is superb and active monitoring is always spot on when put to the test. Within 30 seconds of a tripped alarm they are on the phone to us, checking if everything is ok and verifying our security password before declaring an all-clear. On the occasion of a false alarm call that we missed the police were promptly dispatched to confirm the security of our property, which we were highly grateful for. Sloan is awesome, local, not cookie-cutter, and gives you great service and value for the important role that they play in home security. read more

I've been with Sloan for years and years. Whenever a technical issue arises, they're usually able to help me solve it on the phone, and they've always been on the ball about calling if my alarm accidentally goes off (fortunately, no burglar calls!). Have used Sloan for years and found them reliable and worth the price, which is, by the way, a LOT less...and I mean A LOT LESS...than the ADT service I had before. While Nest wifi cameras and doorbells are doing more and more of the type of security surveillance I want, it is nice to know Sloan monitors the hard-wired and cellular back up system 24/7. I haven't needed much tech support lately, so I can't speak to their service there. All in all, a good value for peace of mind. read more

I've been a continuous customer of Sloan Security since 1981 for multiple systems. They are a great value but you do have to take some personal responsibility yourself to make sure that everything is working properly. I have done two major refreshes of my home system with them over the years and both went smoothly. I have a big system that has a couple of unusual pieces and they have always managed to satisfy my requests. They typically do find some parts that are no longer working properly and that need replacement, which can raise the expected cost, but they do publish what each item will cost. I am familiar with the security systems of a few of my friends and am confident that they have paid 50% more than I have, both for installation and for monitoring, yet their experiences overall have been about the same as mine. Just like a car, security systems do need to be properly maintained. read more

That's suprising. I have been with them for years and I have had it work. As in, I have set off my alarm on occasion and had them call. Once I had a note from the police when I got home because I opened a door in my garage to the outside that I wasn't aware was being monitored and left. I set it off this morning and they don't know why they didn't notice so we are debugging it but the guy answered his cell and said for me to call him when I get home and is working with me. It's not perfect, but it's ok, especially for $10/month. read more

Had an alarm go off last weekend and their entire handling of the situation was unprofessional. First they had no method of canceling the alarm other than furnishing a password I set years ago and didn't remember when I was off-site on a Saturday morning. I offered to give my credit card number or any other type of information that would have made it clear that I was the owner and wanted the call to the police cancelled. They wouldn't do it and gave me other numbers to call that were either unavailable or unhelpful. So the police's time was wasted, my time was wasted, and I paid $250 for their useless "customer service." When I called a week later I was given my password _without even identifying myself fully_ and told that it "was my fault." The icing on the cake came when the woman on the phone was rude and condescending. Avoid these folks like the plague! We inherited this installation and I didn't understand how incompetent they were until now. read more

I recently had Sloan install a new alarm system to replace an outdated one for me. Their pricing was reasonable, their technician did a great job and then he took all the time needed to explain everything to me and test the entire system. I recommend them to anyone wanting to switch their monitoring over to them, or to have them install and service a new system... or both! read more

Worst Company! This company is a joke, a really bad one. If you are looking for a local alarm company do not hire Sloan Security. Reasons: 1. They do not monitor your system. Central station does not get any signal from your alarm system unless it is a test date, which they schedule around every two weeks. What does this mean? If someone tampers with your phone line, they can break in and steal all your valuables without having to worry about the police involvement and it's reason being that central station does not receive a signal. 2. Horribel customer service. My alarm system was triggered and nobody from the central monitoring station alerted me of a problem. Then my high tech cell back up stop functioning, you would expect to hear from Sloan Security about this problem, but no. I contacted the customer service office to make them aware of this problem, unfortunatly their staff have no idea how the alarm system is supposed to work. They could not help me so I asked to speak to the owner Bob Sloan. 3. Owner is very unprofesional. He continued to point out that the system is fine, and if I wanted to have 24 hour monitoring I just have to pay an additional fee. And he loved to point out that the big alarm companies are worst that his company. Do your research. Hire a real professional, and not one that only overcharge for their very bad and crapy service. read more
