Chris, Jake, Alex, Gavin, Jarod, Randall, Zach... everyone we interacted with at AHS throughout this process has been fantastic. From the initial design conversations, to install, and finally the hand-off and training on the system, you won't beat the level of professionalism here. These guys clearly know their craft and care about their customers! Our home is running on Control4, and while there's a bit of a learning curve at first once you start to understand what it can do it's an incredibly powerful system. Control4 essentially acts as the operating system for your home, allowing you to control lighting, audio, video, pool, climate, security, and more from one interface. So instead of juggling a dozen different random apps, Control4 integrates all of your devices and apps into a single platform so the whole house functions as one cohesive ecosystem. Ultimately, what really made the experience stand out, though, was absolutely the AHS team. Technology is only as good as the people who design and install it, and these guys were knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about what they do. Install was clean, the training thorough, and they've held our hand every step of the way. We did a major remodel of our home and our builder (RBuilders) recommended Austin Home Systems. We did quite a bit of automation as well as security and security camera system. In these types of systems there are always going to be technical issues. The difference is how a company deals with these issues and resolves them. I'm not an electronics shopping lover, to say the least. The last time I bought any stereo equipment was in 1991, I think. I've been wanting to get speakers for my house but haven't had the drive to actually research it all and figure out how to do it. So, it seemed like Austin Home Systems was my answer - they come to your house and tell you what would work best for you and install it. Pros: Lucas did come to my house and made some great recommendations for me. The prices seemed very reasonable and I didn't feel like he tried to sell me more high end products than I needed or wanted. He even worked a lot with what I had, which I really appreciated. helping me prioritize. In the end, I like my system very much. Cons: They blew out the installation budget by 50%. This was pretty shocking to me. Also, I was quoted "a" hole in the wall and instead got 11 holds in the ceiling and one hole in the wall, which now have to be repaired. Like I said, I like my system very much and I'm glad Austin Home Systems got me moving but it all cost a lot more than I had planned. read more

The Austin Home System's guys have been in and out of my new high tech James Bond house for the past few months and they have gone above and beyond and been nothing but a pleasure to work with. I can now control every TV, DVR, DVD, stereo, thermostat, light etc in my home from my iPhone or iPad. The wiring is meticulous and neat and precise. About a month ago I contacted several companies to bid an A/V system for my new condo. Jayson responded quickly and gave me a bid that was in line with the others, but offered much more help over the phone and their labor was quoted lower than the other guys, so I gave them a shot. He even invited me to his personal home to see some speakers that I was considering. Jayson was such a great help during the entire process. I sort of knew what I wanted and he showed me several different options (by several options I mean that I made him re-quote the setup with different equipment about 20 times). I finally landed on a setup that I was happy with and pulled the trigger. The install was professional and the system looks and sounds fantastic. We ended up not needing one piece of equipment because the new Denon receiver had the option built in, so I actually saved a little from the quote, which was music to my ears. Overall, they did a great job. All pros, no cons to this experience. I wish my other "home gear" shopping experiences were like this! read more

Had a great experience with Austin Home Systems from start to finish. Gabe and John came over to our home and listened to what we wanted, took detailed notes of what we had, and then they put together a detailed proposal incorporating existing and new system components that would accomplish the the project at hand.... to upgrade our 2010 system (control of media room, 4 TVs, throught home sound system, upgraded wifi, and lights). They made great suggestions and didn't try to push us for stuff we didn't want. Then Jason's installation team did a very professional job. The team was able to work through a couple extra problems that popped up with ease. Mike, the onsite hardware lead, did an amazing wiring job in our media rack. Its actually a pleasure to look at and in itself a piece of artwork...particularly when compared to what the previous owner had installed with a different company. Now we can control and view various media (apple TV's, android, blu-ray) components to any of our TV's, or listen to music in any room with either our iphones or the c4 remotes, and get wifi from anywhere on our propery (inside or out with full strength). After installation, there's only been a couple of minor glitches, but their support service was able to take care of it within a reasonable amount of time, and things are running really nice now....the house feels like a new smart home again! If we add additional upgrades or if any friends want a similar system, we wouldn't hesitate to use or recommend AHS! read more

I purchased a new construction home in Lakeway that was about 95% finished. My last home was a Smart Home, and I wanted my new home to be one as well. I got some estimates, met Jason, and found that he was the most knowledgeable about both equipment and installation. He listened to everything I wanted and we came up with a plan. 7 TV's, with surround sound in 2 rooms, 3 Directv receivers, 2 Apple TV's and a Roku. Now I can control 5 TV's, HVAC, indoor and outdoor lights and my alarm system with my iPad or iPhone. Whenever there was a glitch, and with a system this complex there were bound to be a few, there was a technician here within 24 hours to take care of it. I can't recommend Austin Home Systems enough. We had a couple of errors like wall speaker holes cut in the wrong place, but Jason agreed to pay for the repairs. His staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I had the best experience with Austin Home Systems. I researched and bought the speakers/receiver and set everything up myself. I love, love, love consumer electronics, so I wanted to go through the experience to learn more about home audio. At any rate, I realized I needed assistance to mount the back two speakers (wiring/electrical/attics all things I definitely avoid). So I called Austin Home Systems. Lucas came to my house personally because they were booked for consultations a month out. Within four days he scheduled the installation. The installation specialists - JD and Eden were phe-nom-e-NAL! They not only wired and mounted the speakers, but they optimized the connections among all my components so that things worked far more efficiently and made the most of the limited connection slots. They also hid 90% of the MOUNTAIN of wires that were crammed and visible below the television credenza. Excellent service and expertise are worth every penny when you consider the value of your own time lost taking ten times longer to attempt the same task (poorly). I definitely recommend Austin Home Systems. And plan to buy products from them in the future. read more

AHS did a great job designing and installing our A/V system. They incorporated several pieces of equipment we already had, without trying to sell us new. The actual labor time exceeded the quote by a few hours, but they didn't try to charge us extra. Lucas did a good job training us on the new system, and even returned to fine tune it a couple of weeks later without additional charge. The installers performed magic, in my opinion, fishing wires through an impossibly small crawl space to install a wall-mounted TV without making access holes in the ceiling or wall. That feat alone saved us a few hundred dollars in sheetrock repair and painting. The components and associated wiring were installed very neatly, and our home was left clean and orderly. All the boxes and left-over parts were left neatly stacked in the garage. (One star off for not removing the mountain of trash and recycle generated by the project. It took me hours to sort through the boxes, plastic, styrofoam, and trash bags, find all the operating manuals, separate out all the recycle, break down the boxes, etc. Then it took several rounds of trash and recycle pick-up to finally get rid of it all.) The crew was on time every time, with no cancellations or rescheduling. We were very happy with the work and continue to enjoy the system. I confidently recommend AHS for all your A/V needs. read more

My review is based on potentially hiring Austin Home Systems. My initial contact was via their website and a contact form. I was promptly sent an email response, then a prompt personal call from a representative. Great! We discussed at length my needs and I felt that the company could do a great job. Still feeling great! However, I was promised a call from "the owner" to see if this was a job they wanted to take. Reasonable enough. The caveat, I believe was that my needs were a bit low budget for their appetite. I was hoping to use existing equipment and get suggestions for future (or maybe now?) improvement based on my space and needs. Once I was hit with a "Would a (insert very large number here) budget be in the realm of what you were thinking?" my gasp of a reply, and no promised return call, Yelpers... my final impression is AHS "may" be for you if you have very expensive taste and the wallet to support it. read more

Had Jason and his team at AHS install a projector ceiling mounted and screen along with some audio equipement. They are professional, courteous and provide good follow up service. Jason worked with me and gave me an accurate estimate that appeared very fair and that the estimate he gave was not going to be changed after his crew arrived. I also got an estimate from one of their competitors, whose representative acted like he was trying to save me money by telling me I did not need certain equipment and he would set me up with a great system. Unfortunately, his estimate came back with some sub standard items and a ridiculous labor estimate. The competitor saved me money on the inferior equipment he steered me into, but he more than made up for it in a ridiculous number of hours. So watch out for that trick. Jason and AHS will work with you and get you the equipment you feel comfortable with, without gouging you on labor charges. And AHS team was very helpful and nice and followed through.
