Eric did such a great job at my house. My home had no ethernet wiring and I wanted to wire up a bunch of POE cameras and also provide 10GBE to ethernet jacks upstairs and in my office as well as add 2 10GBE APs for my ubiquiti setup. Eric's quote was reasonable, well thought out and easy to understand. Of the 4 bids I requested, Wire Genie came in the middle in price but Eric was heads and above in his consideration and scoping of the task whereas many other installers seemed to be guestimating effort. Eric had a number of helpful suggestions both from camera positioning to running lines for future use and he did a phenomenal job on running a POE Doorbell camera behind brickwork and only needing one access cut that, at his suggestion, we put a 2-outlet blank faceplate over for future access/maintenance if needed. I mention this because I don't like random contractors coming over to my house and do my best to find a trustworthy, competent professional in whatever respective field that I can contact from that point on. Eric is now that guy for me with networking. My home has never had good internet. It was built before internet was much of a thing, it's stone, has radiant barrier, outdated connections, nonstandard shape, etc. I prepped Eric for these challenges among others and told him I had very high standards. He was undeterred and we set up a consultation. Eric had to have really impressed me, as I let him drill through stone which is highly uncharacteristic of me. TLDR: Great installer, don't hire someone else until you get a quote from Eric. I needed ethernet run for 3 cameras 2 wifi APs and a couple other drops. My house has fiber, but AT&T installed the Jack in the upstairs living room, on the other side and a floor above the wiring cabinet (cat5). I decided to relocate Everything to an upstairs closet. I got 2 quotes that were within a few percent of each other. The other installer said they needed to cut drywall for 2 drops, or run one outside and the other on the wrong side of the room. They were also going to just run a line from the fiber jack to the closet, leaving the AT&T box out in the open. When Eric came to do his quote he got deep in all the attics, found that he could pull one of the drops with a duplicate coax, and the slanted ceiling on the other was decorative most of the way so he could drop in the right spot. He also offered to pull a new fiber line to the closet. It all turned out great. one camera needed a small outside hop to the right spot, but he made sure that was OK before doing it. He did a very clean install, labeled the patch panel, wired up the rack beautifully, and cleaned all the mess afterward. The only cut drywall was in the closet for wires to come out. read more

This is the only low-volt professional I will work with in the Austin area. I had a legacy structured media enclosure updated, access points hung, and a few new runs of cat6 run. The job was not particularly large, but I wanted a clean install and the finished product was better than I expected. On top of the basic install part of the job, Eric cleaned up the network cabinet and rack leaving it looking better than I could have expected. The guys showed up on time, wore protective coverings on their shoes, and cleaned up afterwards. These sound normal, but in my experience fairly rare in this industry. For years I've wished for someone who could "JUST MAKE THE INTERNET WORK!!!" and finally I found him! Eric hardwired internet to a couple of spots in our last house so when we moved he was one of the first people we called. He hardwired a bunch of rooms (luckily the new house had existing cabling we could build on, which I would never have know myself!) and did a beautiful job mounting, wiring and calibrating our TV and surround sound. He even managed to get a hardwired speaker across the room without making any holes by temporarily removing some lights and using the existing holes to guide the wire through! Summary: Absolutely no complaints and excellent work. I'll be calling Eric again if I ever need similar work done in the future. Worth every dollar. In detail, I recently moved into a new house and wanted to add Cat-6 drops to several rooms and run them all to a closet. I also asked him to prep the closet and exterior for an eventual Google Fiber install. I wasn't sure exactly what to ask for but Eric was nothing but easy to work with. He did a free consultation and let me know exactly how he'd do what I asked and was clear that the closet I'd chosen to install the enclosure and run all the new cat-6 to may be tricky because of the way the roof was shaped. On the day of, Eric was on time and communicative the entire time. The quality of his work is excellent, down to details like lining up the new wall plates with existing power outlets on the wall where he could. He dealt with some strange wiring choices made by the previous owner without issue and even cleaned up an old coax cable that had been run along the bottom of a wall. It wasn't something I expected but definitely appreciated. I now have a plastic enclosure mounted in the closet, all the Cat-6 run well and labeled at the wall and in the closet, a pull cable for the fiber installer to use, and he even added a second pull for the electrician to use when I run power to that closet. I had a relatively simple job in needing a new ethernet connection for my office as well as an additional ethernet connection to extend my wifi signal through my house. They showcased exceptional customer service and knowledge on how to best approach my problem while accommodating my needs. In the end, we needed to put cable through the closet, coming from outside. The solution was elegant, because while it could be easily shoved behind all my closet junk, they still hid it behind a shelf, so even in the closet, the wire was concealed. Poof, wish #1 granted by the Wire Genie. So, while I knew it was a relatively simple job, these things can take time. They made the process very hassle free, and more importantly, fast. Generally, speediness isn't a quality I often look for, because I want the job done right. I am willing to put in that extra dollar for the time and effort.
