I've only really been here once, so this review will be purely from first impressions of the place. I think this place is supposed to be an local, organic cafe/brunch place. So I ordered the creamy scrambled egg with salmon (stay in), a protein shake with peanut butter (?) and a chocolate chip cookie to go. The scrambled egg wasn't creamy, but it still was ever so slightly soft enough where it didn't feel like I was eating rubber. The salmon that went with it was delicious, seasoned lightly with salt. It added that nice tender touch to the palate. There was a salad on the side which was meh what can I really say about a salad? They all take the same to me. The protein shake was alright (a little heavy on the peanut butter and they use the regular vanilla whey protein (I couldn't really tell if the peanut butter was actually organic or just skippy). Last but not least... the cookie; delicious, chewy and generous-sized. read more

Such amazing food , all this for only 9 dollars. People who work there are extremely nice and provide you with great service... definitely eating here again!!! read more

Slimak - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I stumbled on this pretty, spacious and sunny cafe on my way to a school tour on a chilly morning. The coffee looked amazing but unfortunately I had already had my morning cup so I didn't have any, but would love to come back and try it. I had a mint tea and a breakfast sandwich and it was all delicious. The staff was really friendly too- lovely find on busy 4th Avenue! read more

So far, everything I've had here has been incredible, from the sandwiches to the desserts to the coffee. Ambiance is also really nice (think clean modern diner). Highly recommended! This is easily the best cafe in sunset park. read more

Delicious food. I'm not a fan of the coffee, but that's okay. My favorite thing I've eaten here was this salad with fried goat cheese. It was soooo good. The avocado toast with bacon is dream-worthy too. Kind of expensive though considering what else I can get in the neighborhood. read more

I just came from there and it was a very nice experience. The servers were warm and friendly, the place was clean and the price was inexpensive. I had the English Muffin with 2 eggs, spinach, avocado and tomato. It was delicious. I also really enjoyed the music, but if you don't like it, stick around; it will change. Songs went from The Andrew Sisters to The Beach Boys, Katy Lang, Wham, Bob Marley, Bing Crosby and U2. I happened to like them all. read more

Really cute place with solid breakfast and coffee. One of the few places like this in the area. I will absolutely go back.

Great place in Sunset Park. Excellent espresso. I like the blend they have - devocion (farm to table). Started buying the beans for home.

Slimak has delicious food, great service, and a pleasant ambiance. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for breakfast/brunch since opening day, and it's been the perfect start to my day each time. The food is made fresh and worth the wait, and we have yet to come across a dish we didn't love! The owners put their heart into this cafe. It's exciting to see how successful this place has been since it opened. read more

Great food and great service, and great addition to an up and coming neighborhood that is being gentrified. I had the salmon hash with a pumpkin spice coffee and it was to die for. The owner even came up to us and told us the story of the establishment and how she started this business. The young ladies behind the counter were very hospitable as well and the place is very chic yet comfortable, warm, and inviting. read more

Wonderful spot for breakfast. Friendly people. Fresh and healthy food. Taste great. Clean, comfortable inside. Very reasonable prices. What else could one ask for? read more

I'm afraid to sing Slimak's praises, as I don't want to see it overrun, but I cannot help myself. This place is terrific. Perhaps the best quiche I've ever had, and I'm an OG quiche-head. Their biscuits and gravy made me squeal. The servers are kind, the place is comfortable. You can bring your laptop, eat like a duke, and bang out a chapter of the ol' novel. And do they have those little misshapen sugar cubes that you drop into your espresso with a little plop? Yes ma'am, they do. read more

One of the highlights of my first trip to New York was stumbling across this beautiful cafe. Don't let the exterior fool you into thinking it's just like everything else, the coffee was amazing, the food was spot on (I had an egg wrap), and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful for my continued travels. read more

I really think this is a good place and have a really clean and nice environment and the staff is always so nice to people !! I really like this spot because they open when I'm getting ready to school and stop at times and their coffee is delicious! I love that it's right by my house and a school so the teachers can get their coffee or even a quick place to stop for lunch hope to stop more often great spot read more

Stuffy environment, food was whatever. It's sad to see parts of sunset park go away, for mediocre places like these.

The food was good but the service wasn't. When you first walk in its a little confusing. I didn't understand how to get a table. I saw a sign saying "order at the bar" and that was it. I tried flagging down the waitress to ask how I can get a table but she was running around and ignoring the people standing by the front door. So I came up to the people behind the counter but they gave me an attitude. It seemed like they were sick and tired of hearing that question. They should have a more explanatory sign. They looked stressed out, so I could understand why they weren't being very nice. So it turns out that tables are first come first serve. If you see one open up you grab one. Basically that means good luck getting a table. All I saw was lots of people sitting around taking up tables with their laptops and newspapers (not eating) and not getting up even when they saw people just standing there waiting for a table. I finally got food...it was cold but otherwise good. Small portions and pricey but tasty. I observed the waitress and the people behind the counter while I ate my food. They were being very nice to the people that they knew. I felt like the new kid at school... Very excluded. read more

I love this place !!! The food is so fresh and delicious. Owners are friendly and the ambiance is wonderful. It's open, airy and a great escape during my lunch break. I had a cold beat soup the other day and it was suburb, hope to have it again. Looking forward to trying it all . read more

This is my favorite place in sunset park. I want to say this is the only cafe with fresh healthy food and amazing coffee. I always come for the coffee with almond milk it is very difficult to find cafes in the area with almond milk the breakfast and lunch is amazing. The staff and management were very friendly and helpful. I wish this place was open for 24 hours lol read more

I am a Sunset Park resident and I have lived here my whole life. I can say this new spot is a little gem. As much as I notice the gentrification going on in my neighborhood, I cannot be upset at this place. I can be a little upset at the prices but man... the food hits the spot! The Quinoa Bowl is my all time favorite. I clean my plate every single time I order it. At first, it was a bit uncomfortable coming here but now, I cannot stop talking about this spot and know what I want. Also, a big shout out to the owner who is always sweet and polite. There are also a couple of new staff members and it's nice to know they're from the community. I had a BLT here and it came with a bag of chips. Delicious! The OJ is sooooo gooood! Yes, $6 was a bit too high but man... worth it. Just ask for a cup of ice as well. The OJ is given fresh right out of the presser machine, so it will be warm. I will be back during my lunch break soon. Oh yeah, and they close at 4pm. Great spot! read more

Great vibe and food. Same owners as news cafe in Village which is another one of my favorite coffee+ shops. The food here was healthy and coffee delicious. Avocado toast perfect proportion and taste. read more

Everything looks really good here! best breakfast sandwich place I've been to in this neighborhood and most of the city. Had the turkey panini with bacon in a chipotle sauce. The freshness of the ingredients was definitely noticeable and the sandwich had allot of flavor. there's a lot of great places for a mexican style breakfast but not so much for breakfast sandwiches so i'm glad this is here now. definitely worth the money. read more

Fellow helpers are definitely on pointe with this new cafe restaurant. Food was good, clean tasting. No unpleasant oilines. Atmosphere was relaxing, wait staff was pleasant. Fairly nondescript exterior but definitely a lovely addition to an area lacking in brunch options. Hope everything continues as is! read more

Came here for a second weekend in a row. Very nice place, very clean. Food is great. Service is excellent. Will definitely be back again and again even though it takes me 30 min to drive but it worth it. Strongly recommend this place for breakfast. read more

Great and welcome addition to the neighborhood. Good design and thoughtful menu at the lower price point than many comparable restaurants. Good relaxed atmosphere unlike in many comparable places. read more

Wonderful atmosphere...beautiful tiling, ceiling, music, magazine selection. Coffee is lovely.

I only write reviews when I truly love a place and want to let other NYers know about it! This coffee shop is lovely. If you need a place in Brooklyn to write or work or bring the family for brunch, this is the spot. The baristas are friendly, the food is delicious, the coffee is great, and it has a tranquil ambience. read more

First time here and what a great find. Food here seems very fresh. Very nice staff also. The deco is simple and smart. I had the turkey sandwich and my wife had the grilled cheese. Great side salads with delicious dressing. Even though the sign said 'soft opening' they had it together. I think they will do very well. read more

Amazing avocado toast w/ a side of smoked bacon! The over easy eggs are always perfect and the toast is seasoned with a pistachio pesto that's to die for. Seriously the menu selections are all tempting. Tanya is the sweetest and the owners are inviting and generous. Fresh mozzarella sandwiches and quiches are so delicious and the cold brew and lattes are perfect. The decor and space is beautiful and I'm excited to see this place take off and expand in places around New York City. read more
