We ordered 20 wings for $20 / we chose two different sauces one was (wet) garlic parmesan and 1/2 was the new Lemon Pepper (dry Rub)! The blue cheese dipping sauce was thick and cool which is just the way we like it!! We have never been here before. We will be back for sure!! My husband and I also split a fried chicken breast sandwich!! The sandwich came with pickles! Very good!! Hot, juicy, crispy breading, and full of flavor! If you like Popeyes new chicken sandwich and don't really care for the pepper taste, you will love the chicken sandwich here!! (There isn't sauce on the sandwich so you will have to ask for some) My daughter is a fry snob and she gave the fries here a thumbs up . Cannot wait to come back and try more menu items! Highly recommended eating here! The dining room was clean and tables were closed near us due to Covid restrictions which we were happy about! Everyone was wearing a mask and the food came out quickly from the kitchen and the food was all hot and fresh!

My wife and I dropped in here the other day after an appointment we had in Plainfield. We'd never heard of or noticed it before so decided to give it a try for lunch. I'm surprised at the negative reviews. My wife and I really enjoyed it! She had naked wings and fries. Both were cooked properly and nice and crispy. I had one of their chicken sandwich options with a side of their hottest wing sauce on the side (pretty spicy). I also really enjoyed the sandwich and like hers, fries were nice and crispy. Service was super fast too. We will definitely be back when in the area.

Chicken fingers and those crucial fried mushrooms

For real, there aren't many fast food places where I wholeheartedly say I love their food, but I love Slim Chickens! Wish there were more locations but I come to this one as often as I can. The staff is always friendly, and I love the chicken fingers and FRIED MUSHROOMS!! So many sauces to choose from, but I've gotta have that cayenne ranch. If you dine in, kick back and enjoy some blues music along with your chicken!

Used to be a great place. The chicken was bigger pieces, juicy and lightly breaded. Now the "tenders" are the length of my finger, breaded so heavily that there's no chicken in them, and so dry that you can't eat it without sauce. Also, I heard from a former teenage employee that they've been known to serve expired chicken for over a month past it's expiry date. Lovely.

Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I'm a self proclaimed wing aficionado and try various venues across the nation. I honestly had never heard of or visited a Slim Chickens before, (no idea it was a chain) but I'm glad it's in our area! I definitely experienced the "growing pains" other Yelpers note as a very green staff attempted to deal with the work week lunch rush. When I arrived, I was of the mindset that I wanted to try as many of the sauces as I could. The cashier said I could get two sauces with a 10 wing meal, so I named four sauces I wanted for the 20 wing meal. She seemed taken aback and insisted that I could only pick two sauces. We deliberated about the logic behind the "2 sauce for 10" and doubling that option until a manager stopped by. I explained my desire for 4 sauces with an order of 20 wings and he said, "Of course we can do that!" and proceeded to help the cashier ring it up. I truly don't understand reviewers who complain about "small wings". Look, if you are going to a place that specializes in buffalo-style wings, your focus is not eating wings the size of drumsticks. If I wanted to fill up on fried chicken, I'd visit an establishment that focuses on just that. I DO NOT want Purdue chicken wings. I am focused on the SAUCE. I am looking for normal sized wings with crispy outside and a fair amount of meat. With that background understood, Slim wings are perfect! Putting newly minted employees aside, my only gripe with Slim Chickens is the lack of flavor and heat in the sauces. For the most part, the four sauces I had were rather bland and two tasted like they were thickened with cornstarch + water. During my next visit I will definitely try their inferno sauce since even the hot was rather tame. Will update my review when that happens.

Simple, fast, and friendly chicken at totally reasonable prices. After a few of the reviews I expected Slim Chickens to be a bit run down but that tasty kinda gas station chicken. It was quite the wrong assessment. I found the restaurant to be really clean on both of my visits - even with snow and slush outside. Service was super friendly from being really polite when taking my order and dropping it off at the table to not being stingy with an extra sauce or two. The cayenne ranch chicken sandwich was better than average - but my chicken (read: bun) was really greasy (and the chicken was super hot grease town in the middle). Overall it did rely on the sauce quite a bit for flavor, but it was well executed in a mid premium type way. I got a side of mushrooms with that order which is what really notched up my rating here. It was not very expensive and aside from being really tasty there was a mountain of mushrooms in my basket. They went great with honey mustard and with the mango habanero hot sauce I got. Honestly I would come back for the mushrooms themselves. On my second visit I tried a Chicks meal with 3 tenders, mac 'n cheese for a side, and texas toast. The mac 'n cheese was well above average but still felt like it had a little room for improvement. One of the tenders was a bit small but that was OK because they just threw in an extra to compensate (without me asking). That's my kinda service! The chicken tenders themselves were tasty - they had a finer breading with a good crunch and were nice sized strips. As a sauce lord the inferno sauce was not all that hot and not the best flavor (not bad - just tastes like chilli pepper extract and not much else). They also have a pretty decent selection of soft drinks and if you're in a rush - a drive through window. I want to try their tossed wings and their version of chicken and waffles so I have to visit soon. I still really wanna try the korean BBQ and Slim sauces as well. Simple, fairly fast, darn good chicken. Thanks Slim Chickens!

Heard about this being a new(er) chicken place and took a drive to see how it is since we don't live in the area anymore. Pros - good chicken, fries (they are seasoned), and ranch (I'm a stickler about good ranch). Also, as of right now kids eat free on Sundays with the purchase of 1 adult meal so that worked for our toddler. Cons - cleanliness. And for this I won't be back, at least not to dine-in until I hear it's gotten better. Immediately upon walking in, we weren't through the double set of doors and my shoes were sticking to the floor. As we walked in to the counter it was slightly better but there's also a rug. We ordered and walked around to get drinks. There was a "wet floor" sign but wet doesn't even describe it when it's a greased over floor that we were slipping on. Even standing on the rug in front of the soda machine wasn't helpful. I carefully walked over to the rug in front of the registers and wiped my feet thinking maybe it was just right there. NOPE. The floor was just greased over. Whatever attempt was made to wash the floors wasn't done with clean mop water. It's as if they mopped the kitchen and used the same mop to then wash the dining area. Even the Every table we walked to had crumbs or something smeared on it. Settled on the cleanest one we saw. The place was not busy for a Sunday around lunch time so in my mind there is no reason why the tables (and floor) should be as dirty as they were.

+ nice building, ambiance etc. to match the best of modern fast causal places. + large and unbelievably tender chicken tenders. really amazing. + large menu, lots of sauces, good jar deserts. - lunch wait was insane. 30+ cars in the drive-through so we went in. 10 minutes in line and 27 minutes exactly to get the food to the table for just two people and a basic dish! they were very busy but they won't be for long if you wait 40 minutes to get food at a "fast" causal restaurant. to their credit they apologized and offered a free jar desert ($5) but it's been open I believe a couple of months now and the lunch waits aren't getting better based on the reviews. - the breading on the chicken is very, very bland. it doesn't taste bad, it just doesn't have any taste at all. It's intentional I assume and the reason for a bunch of sauce flavors they offer. I tried their Slim Chicken and Honey Mustard sauces which were "ok." Long story short? Cool place and great "concept" but the waits are brutal for what the place is and should be and the chicken while very, very tender is very bland so if you enjoy seasoned chicken from places like Chick Fil A, Kentucky Fried, or Popeyes you may not like this. read more

Chicken in this town is fierce competition. We've got Popeyes, KFC, Meijer Deli, Walmart Deli, Jewel Deli, Chicken in a Basket, McDonalds nuggets, Wendy's chicken nuggets, BW3s, Subway, Culver's tenders, just to name a few. So when Slimmy Chickabowwow came to town I knew there would be a knife fight behind a Shell gas station. I was right. They tied their wrists together and fought it out. You want to know where Slim Cuckoos came in? Second place! The only one they couldn't beat with Chicken in a Basket. But for quick tasty tenders they are gooooooooood. All I can really say is "so-so". I don't have any strong criticism or any strong compliments to offer. This experience was not surprising for a fast food chain. The service was fine and the food was ok, but maybe a tad to the high side for fast food. I think 9 times out of 10 I will drive right by and choose something else just because nothing in here compels me to head straight for their door, but in a pinch for something different compared to the other fast food in the neighborhood, I'm sure I will give them at least one more shot in the future. read more

Way over priced. The chicken had virtually no meat on them showing mostly bone at $1 a piece. Barbecue sauce was poured over the top of the wings and not covered. Chicken tenders were small for $1.29 a piece. The whole floor was slippery from dried up greasy mop water. I was having trouble walking with out my feet sliding all over. People were trying to place orders and fill their drinks trying to keep their balance. Said something to the lady at register. She said sorry but no one did anything about. Going back to Raising Canes and Buffalo Wild Wings. read more

The staff are very friendly. The place is very clean, it is brand new though. Chicken is just ok, fried pickles were unbelievable. The only issue I'd say is seating. Which maybe that's a sign the food is really good? I've been there three times and seating is very minimal. You feel weird as people stand around waiting for a seat. Maybe they'll have some outdoor seating once it warms up, I hope. read more

I'm a fan of tenders and was excited that this was opening up in Plainfield. Went here once and was a bit disappointed at the taste of the tenders. Prior to them opening up in Plainfield, I hadn't heard of them but was hoping it would be similar in taste to Raising Cane's. I was definitely disappointed and unfortunately will have to keep going to Raising Cane's even if it's a bit further out of the way. I should caution that I haven't tried any of their other options, but if it's similar to their tenders, then I'd say pass. read more

Have been here 4-5 times. First 2 times were amazing, food was always hot and fresh and workers were professional. The last few times we have been we get either fresh/hot chicken but the fries are cold or visa versa. The teenagers working are loud and act like they are customers in the building, goofing off and talking loudly. When we went today all the tables were dirty (there was a worker going around fixing all the paper towels & ketchup on the tables but didn't wipe the tables that were clearly dirty?) the reason we keep coming back is because the chicken really is good when you get it fresh! Not worth it. I had a taste for some crunchy chicken so the hubby and i decided to try this place out. I got wings, fried mushrooms and fried chicken tenders. The wings tasted old, burnt and dried out. I had one bite and threw them out. The mushrooms were undercooked and soggy. The tenders were barely breaded. Wow. Beyond ridiculous the amount of time I had to wait for my meal. My experience started out fine. Friendly staff. Then it was all downhill from there. I asked for the, "chicks plate" with an extra sauce to go. I waited nearly 15 minutes to get my food! The line waiting for their food was ridiculous. There were about 5-6 employees up front doing literally nothing with one cashier and one food runner. They need to transition those employees to the back. The runner finally brought me my food, but it wasn't in a to go box. That was fine. I understand, its an easy mix up, but after she brought my food back it took them literally 5 minutes to repackage my food. Seriously? How hard is it to maintain focus on one task and get the costumer out the door? Oh wait, it gets better. I get into my car and think to myself.. "no way they forgot the sauce too..." guess what? They forgot the sauce!! Holy jeeze! You have got to be kidding me. Never again. Sorry slim, you're no Chick-fil-a. read more

As soon as we walked into the building the floors were full of dirt, crumbs, and sticky substances all over. None of the tables were clean. The chicken and fries both came back to us cold. The tray the food was served in was clearly not cleaned well and sticky. Will not being going back ever again. If I could rate it a 0 I would. read more

If it is a new location, let it sit for a while before you enjoy it. The local one in Plainfield, IL has too many staff sitting around not enough jobs for each of them. They all gather around behind the counter and socialize. It was not too crowded today so I went with an hour available... not enough time. My friend got her food after about 10 mins, she was almost done and I still had not gotten mine. 30 minutes after I ordered I went up to ask and they brought it out 10 minutes later. It was thrown together and was not nearly as good as the last couple times I have enjoyed it. I am giving it a break. read more

YUK! Slim Chickens opened a location at 13429 S. Route 59, in Plainfield, IL that used to be a White Castle. (I wish White Castle would come back and take over). Anyhow Slim Chickens took over the location and I was pretty happy that another entrepreneur willing to take on fast food, with Buffalo Wild Wings, Wing Stop and Chillis in the area. I have visited this establishment several times trying their food and sending delivery drivers with online orders, most always there's a mistake in the order or missing product This place ranks the worst!!! RUDE SERVICE, Low portions of food, your best to go across the street to Jewel-Osco and buy your wings there. conclusion is manager is weak and has no control of the store. Items are consistently out of stock, and I question the freshness of the product. employees are nice but got the feeling they have a gun held to their head and please go away! (Managment has the attitude that your bothing me and go away) similar came from the Waffle House up the street that's failing with the closed Walmart next store. When this this restaurant first opened (once a former white castle) The food was good, and price was decent. Well, as we all know things change. I ate there a few more times to keep finding the dining room closed and had to use the drive thru. What place does this during a lunch rush? On 04/14/23 decided to give them another try. This time the portions were super small, order was wrong, food was cold, I actually believe they gave me someone else's order. They must have gotten new management as I felt treated somewhat rudely. (Kinda like give me your money take your crappy food and get the hell out) word of advice Slim Chickens, hire people who know the restaurant business. There are many other places in the area to eat and unfortunately, I won't be back to Slim Chickens. I give them another year and goodbye! Now I read posts that their food is making people sick! When this restaurant first opened the food was really good with decent portions, but the last few months it has gone downhill fast. Last time I was there a few weeks back the portions have gotten really small; I understand the whole inflation thing but $62 for 2 adults and 2 children is little ridiculous. Sad thing is we still left hungry. I understand new management took over and was treated somewhat rude like I was just a number and got the feeling like PAY FOR YOU FOOD AND GET THE HELL OUT ATTITUDE. Nothing special about this place. Tried them once hoping there was something better than buffalo wild wings or wingstop. As expected Slim Chickens was pretty much the same. Overpriced bones and sauce. The staff was somewhat rude as well. Kinda like they were doing me a favor for eating there. I wish it would go back to being a White Castle. You're best off going across the street to jewel and getting your wings at the deli. At least you know they are fresh. Also heard slim chicken uses expired food making people sick.
