Portions are generous so hopefully you're very hungry or be prepared to bring plenty home. I was only able to eat half of my food and brought the other half home and my sandwich seemed better the next day which isn't always the case when you bring things home!! At first, it appeared they had 4 bartenders, a manager, and a barback behind the bar. However, other than the barback consistently washing/unloading dishes I am not sure what was going on with the service. Manager was not providing any assistance to his staff. However, he was filling his own water bottle. Other staff were taking selfies with guests. It took awhile to order a second round as well as pay our tab. This was a one and done visit for me.

I dig the packaging wrap on their 16oz cans of Dizzy Up the Blonde; a Marilyn Monroe-esque lady sitting on a 55gal drum, suggestively tugging on her red high heel with one hand and holding a chalice of beer in the other. What's not to like there? They have a trio of pinball tables that get sporadically rotated out. Previously they had Foo Fighters and Star Wars, now they've got Stranger Things, JAWS, and a gorgeous Godzilla premium model at $1 per play. There's a digital jukebox too, if you wanna pick tunes for the venue. * TL;DR * I lack the time and expertise to brew my own beer, so I'm happy to leave it to the pros. Garage Band is a small operation with big dreams, and they already have a handful of solid brews in circulation. I check back every few months to see their new seasonal drafts, like a shandy in the summer and darker Oktoberfest-style beer in the fall. They're closed Mon-Tues. Beer and pinball are significant passions of mine, and since Garage Band has a nice selection of both, they get an easy 5*.

I know my way around a sandwich, and I have to say the offerings at NWB in downtown Plainfield are some of the best around. Look for the blue & white house on Lockport St, and you'll know you've found it. NWB doesn't take reservations, however you can join an online waitlist. Park on the street or in a small lot adjacent to the building. The beer selection is fantastic, a pint ($8) never disappoints although I usually lean towards a Hefeweizen or pilsner with my meal. Yeah yeah, I know this is a WHISKEY bar, but yours truly doesn't do the brown liquor.....bad experience with Jägermeister as a kid. For appetizers, the cheese curds ($14) are pricey but oh-so-worth it. They come with a cilantro aioli and we get an order of these every single visit. The cauliflower popcorn ($11) is also a very worthy choice for starters; roasted and seasoned cauliflower florets are served with a sumptuous clarified butter. Their house NWB Burger ($16.50) is a busy affair, with pork belly, bbq sauce, onion straws and cheese curds on a pretzel bun. The Big Jer ($15.25) is a much simpler yet equally stellar burger with 2x4oz patties, lettuce, tomato, and Merkt's cheddar spread served with a pickle spear. I recently tried the Suribachi ($15.50) and it blew my mind. A 1/2lb patty is lightly fried in tempura batter, then topped with pepperjack cheese, wasabi coleslaw and sriracha on a brioche bun. Next time, I'm giving the El Toro a shot (pickled habaneros, corn guac). My wife loves the pork belly mac ($16), a good portion of cheesy cavatappi pasta with crispy pork belly. Their Cubano ($15) is solid and the Taylor Street panini ($15) is a tasty Italian grinder, with prosciutto, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato and olive spread on focaccia bread. NWB's homemade chips are amazing, I always opt for them instead of fries (which are also great). Bread = 5+ Circuses = 4.5 Service has been generally fine, but last visit it took a long time for our server to come by initially. The inside of this converted house is somewhat cramped so if the weather allows, I suggest dining 'al fresco'. Their outdoor patio definitely passes the vibe check. I honestly can't decide whose doughnuts are better, Empire in Naperville or Next Whiskey Bar's. It might be a tie! In any case, we ALWAYS end a meal here with the fried doughnuts ($11) that come with a heavenly whiskey caramel sauce for dipping. * TL;DR * In my mind, NWB stands for "Nirvana, With Burgers". This 1 star is for the rudeness of the staff . Went to have dinner for 2 sat at the one and only booth they had. After we got our appetizer started to feel rushed over heard manager saying we need to clear up table 18 and on our check I looked it said 18. Wow I thought. May I at least finish my drink and not get looked at by all of your staff very rude and unprofessional I paid 60$ to eat here I should not have to feel rushed nor should I constantly have to be looked at "checked on". NEVER again will I come here. Oh ALSO the workers were rude to each other the way they spoke and looked at each other ...looks like they share the seating screen to input orders and while one was on there were 2 others behind standing and looking so impatient. That's "GREAT" team work alright shaking my head. If I could give this place no stars regarding the service I would. It has been a while since we were last here, and we always sit at the bar. Larry the bartender was fantastic. He was pretty busy but stayed engaged with his bar customers. I had the Vita Mia Rigatoni, and he suggested I try it spicy, and he was not wrong. My wife had the sea bass that was perfect. She also had a drink called the Italian Smash that she said, "was one of the best drinks I ever had". The bar seat I sat in I had to share with the bartender where he makes his drinks, and it was a pleasure to watch this gentleman work. My wife was asking questions about the drinks he was making, and Larry cheerfully explained each one. We also were talking to another staff member Tiffany, who was introduced as the bartender's sister in law. Such a wonderful staff really gives the place a warm and family like atmosphere. He features drinks & wine to begin, the food specials of the evening, his menu top picks, & at the end desert and desert drinks. The food was delicious and well prepared...but the difference maker was the outstanding service. That's where our waitress, Marsha, comes into focus. She was friendly and attentive, passionate and helpful. It was refreshing to interact with someone that "gets the customer" because it was obvious she was comfortable in this role. Capri is our go-to spot! We had a birthday party upstairs this week and the service, the atmosphere and THE FOOD were all 10-stars (if I could). Robert's cuisine is some of the very finest Italian fare my wife and I have ever eaten. He makes a better steak than any I have ever eaten.
