We came here for brunch on a Sunday. As we drove into the parking lot, we saw a couple people playing with a life size Jenga in the outdoor seating area. Since it was our first time here, I was happy to see that this was a family friendly establishment. To our delightful surprise, kids eat free with an adult entree for a limited time. My husband and I tried the chicken and waffles, my son the 3-3 and my kids got the chicken tender kids meal with fries and Texas toast. Each meal comes with a drink. The manager on duty took our order and he was really friendly. He asked us how our day was and thanked us for coming in. We sat at a table and he brought our food over a short time later. Our waffles were in the shape of Texas with chicken tenders over it covered with syrup. The kids meal was a big portion and it filled them up. They have TVs around the restaurant which was great because we were able to watch the NBA games. If you plan on eating here on a Sunday, come before noon because it started filling up when we left. I found this chicken place onYelp and one look at the dessert had me telling my daughter, 'come on, let's go '. The food was great, the world's pickest kids scarfed up their plates. The coating on the chicken was not like you usually get, it was thinner so you really tasted the chicken. They also had a bunch of dips and sauces for dipping. The wings were good and the kids loved the chicken strips. And if you order early you can get this strawberry shortcake in a mason jar thats great. I was so excited when I saw that they opened up a location in SA. I went to one in Houston and loved it! Perfect spot for lunch and they serve chicken and waffles! Love that they keep the areas clean and there's also seating outside. I typically get their chicken and waffles but decided to change it up and get their Chick's plate. Fries are seasoned well and so are their tenders! Their tenders are juicy and I love the coating. It's crunchy and full of flavor! I paired it with their slims sauce, tastes similar to Chick-fil-A sauce but a darker color. My sister got their chicken and waffles, it was amaazzzinnggg. The waffle is super thick and fluffy. Not a fan of chicken tenders really but I wanted to try out the new place. I got the 3 & 3, wings and tenders with slaw. I got the Korean bbq wings and having been to Korea, I'm kind of a snob when something advertises itself as Korean anything. We always get chicken and waffles from here and every time it is amazing. It's basically our Sunday morning go to. However, I decided to branch out one evening and order "dinner food" and I was sadly disappointed. I ordered the family meal and received none of the sauces I asked for (delivered through Uber) and our sides were not a large portion. The large containers were barely half way filled. This is my new favorite place to get wings and chicken strips. The food was excellent. There were tons of dipping sauces and wing flavors to choose from. The staff was very friendly. We've been looking for a new wing spot. This place gots the hook up You can get wings,fries and garlic bread for about 10 bucks. They have sides my kids normally eat as their meal which is definitely a plus. The customer service was okay, they did forget my fried pickles. I opted for their mason jar Oreo cheesecake that was creamy and sweet but I still have to try their friend pickles. They have a pretty decent flavor profile of wings. The buffalo weren't too tangy and the Korean BBQ wasn't spicy. Don't cast aside their chicken tenders, those babies are tender,juicy, and made to order. We stopped in on our way to see Willie at Floore's. We were to meet friends at another restaurant and have dinner but they weren't there yet and we didn't feel like waiting, figured we'd catch up for drinks when they got where they were going. Anyways we scored by going to Slims. I had the four or five-piece plate and my wife had a salad with fried chicken. The chicken was lightly breaded and was just perfect, I ended up having to have three sauces because I couldn't make my mind up on just two. Afterwards, we had a good chat with the manager, I think his name was Andrew if not, I'm sorry for forgetting. Anyways, it was good conversation and appreciate that he took the time out of his busy schedule to check on us. We will be back on our next show to Floore's. I love wings! I really really love wings and my wife isn't a huge fan of them. This means I don't get Wing Stop nearly as often as I'd like. Then the best thing ever happened. Slim Chickens opened and they sell wings and strips, AND they have mango habanero which is by far my favorite wing flavor. I really wanted Slim Chickens to be good. I've been there 3 times. The first time the wings and fries were cold but in their defense it took me a while to get around to eating after I bought them so I figured that was on me. The second time my wings and fries were cold, the wings were very tough and there was very little sauce on the wings. Aside from that my wife ordered a salad with ranch dressing and she was not given any dressing. This on top of the fact that their "made to order" pie was ice cold prompted a call to the store. After my wife told the manager about the poor quality of the food he basically said she was lying. She explained we don't want anything from them, just wanted them to know. To this he claimed he'd check if the fryer was at the right temp (as if that would cause cold fries). Because I'm thick headed and really wanted Slim Chickens to be good we went back a third time. Again my wife got no dressing with her salad and my wings were tough as jerky. I won't be going back a fourth time. Their chocolate pie is good. read more

I had to give this location a star to review and that is the only reason why. I recently visited this location awhile back and was very disappointed. Now, I know why there wasn't any cars in the drive thru. I placed an order for a 6 piece count wings. I waited for someone to come on the speaker after about 3 hello's and I placed what I thought was my order. After arriving at the window. The window attendant didn't repeat my order nor confirm it. However, asked for payment, closed window, gave me my order and I left. I was in the area because my friend needed a ride home from work that day. I didn't check my order, assuming it was correct and I didn't want to be rude about it in front of the window attendant. I drove off. Once home, I opened the order to something I didn't order. It was a chicken sandwich of some sort. I don't like bread so I didn't eat it. Besides that it didn't look good, so instead I called the cooperate office first to complain about the customer service and how I was attended during my visit. I was instructed to call the local restaurant to make a complaint about the service I received that day and the wrong order that was given to me as well. I spoke to both a female manager and a male GM that was visiting that day (I didn't get there names because I was assured that I was going to get my order replaced in its entirely). I was not looking for a free meal because I had already paid full price for what I originally thought I ordered. The GM I spoke to took my name down and number. I did mention that I did not live in Helotes and that I would return randomly to pick up my order. He also assured me that there was no time frame to have my order replaced. Today, I sent my children to pick my order up assuming that my name was written down on their records but it wasn't. I then called the Helotes location and spoke to a GM and he questioned me as if I stole a meal from them. I just sent my kids to pick an order I had already paid for about a month prior. The GM I spoke to today was named Jose Esquido ( excuse my pronunciation). After our call ended he made me feel as if I was trying to get a free meal from their company. Believe me if I was gonna lie and get a free meal off a restaurant it would if been from CANES. Their food is much better. I'm sure they don't make their customers feel as if they were trying to get a free meaI, if the order was wrong and just needed to be replaced. To be honest, what happened to the customer is always right. ***I do not recommend going thru the drive thru at this location nor to give them business, if they are not going to believe in their customers nor write down their names for an order they messed up on. If you do find yourself there. Check your order and give CANES a try. You won't be disappointed. And to the GM I spoke to today. Thanks for NOTHING! Trying new restaurants is always an adventure! The cashiers were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Often times I have a hard time finding a reasonably price wing and chicken plate. I ordered the 3&3 plate which consists three wings, three chicken tenders, Texas toast, Fries and a drink for 9.99. The Cayenne Ranch sauce was amazing though I wasn't really a fan of the Slim Ranch sauce. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. read more

Plenty of chicken options along Bandera Rd in Helotes these days, so when (about 6 months ago) I came close to closing time and received cold food (I ate it in their parking lot cause I was starving) I was pretty bummed. I figured their management would want to know so I emailed them. Got a response by email that I could have a free meal and sorry for their mistake. Tonight I was driving by, remembered the email, and figured I'd give them another shot. Victory #1 - they honored the free meal even though the manager hadn't worked here in six months.
