This place never lets you down if you do it right. Things sell out, so don't wait until the end of the day if you want the specials. Once you check in, stop by their coffee shop, Sweet Serenity, for a great little waitlist self care item. And don't forget cash! They have ATMs at both locations if you do. Everything here is great, so you really can't go wrong. The corned beef hash is a must on my list. Get there early, bring cash, and enjoy.

The service here is always impeccable. All the servers are genuinely engaged with the customers while having fun when doing their job. Get the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes, they are so good. Love the Brie and fig preserve omelette and we're always blown over by their corn beef hash made with real corned beef. Great music, eclectic atmosphere this place is worth seeking out.

My daughters and I went here for breakfast and I can't say enough how great the experience was. The atmosphere was so positive and welcoming. The food was so delicious! Our server was awesome, he was such a cool dude & had great vibes. The payment experience is unique, it's cash only but you leave there with a sense of pride & community spirit. We will definitely come back again and I absolutely recommend this place!

This brunch spot had been on my list forever and we finally made it in after a morning hike at OP Schnabel Park. Be forewarned, this place gets quite busy....actually very busy, so depending on the time of arrival, expect a long wait. I think we waited up to an hour. When we were finally seated, our server introduced himself and gave us a little story on the background of Comfort Cafe. Know that this is a cash only donation based restaurant- all proceeds go directly to their rehabilitation programs. Account for $15-$20 per person. Their menu was extensive- breakfast/brunch and lunch menus. I opted for the corned beef hash- nice poached egg atop corned beef potato hash, seasoned nicely and not overly salty. Maybe could have used a side toast and jelly. Hubby ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs and bacon- delicious! Not one crumb left behind lol The restaurant was open, warm, and friendly. Everyone, including the servers seemed so happy to work there. Lots of Birthday celebrations were happening, many songs to be sung and candles to be blown out : )

I absolutely love comfort cafe! This was my 5th time coming to enjoy the delicious food and drinks. Usually i'm in a sweet mood, but today I was craving something savory and saucy. The alfredo with all the veggies satisfied just that. My friend got the huevos ranchero and absolutely loved the unique flavors and tastes. The chicken in my pasta was incredibly juicy and flavorful and honestly think it's the best pasta i've had in town. The staff is always so incredibly sweet and helpful. I love the pay what you can concept as it creates a welcoming and loving environment and supports those who may not be able to afford expensive meals. Can't recommend this place enough!!

It had been a while since I had been to this restaurant and I had forgotten how good it is. They have amazing food and it is a unique setup with a good cause. Give it a shot and you won't regret it!

Came here on 12.14.25 with my two girls. It was SO WORTH the wait! Between the food and the mission, everything was amazing! Friendly tip, join the Yelp Waitlist in advance so that you get seated quicker! They take cash only and are a "pay what you feel" place. $15 is suggested per dish but not required. My eldest got the jalapeño popper omelette, which comes with choice of potatoes. She selected the cheesy casserole style potatoes. She said everything tasted so good - as evidenced by her empty plate lol. I got the breakfast special, which comes with 2 eggs (over easy), choice of potatoes (homestyle with peppers and onions), choice of meat (sausage) and toast. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage was juicy and delectable! My youngest got the Just for Kids, which comes with 1 egg, 1 chocolate chip pancake, and 1 meat. I asked if they could do a substitution of sorts cuz she doesn't like eggs. They let her have more bacon! We got the pancake flight so we could sample more. Everything was so yum! Eldest loved the lemon ricotta blueberry. The brown sugar was my personal fav and the youngest loved the chocolate chip.

Good food, good service, and great ambiance for an amazing purpose! First time at Comfort Cafe, you're welcomed into the establishment with a smile and it feels like you're going into a family-owned restaurant. Everyone at Comfort is super sweet, and my husband and I were blessed to be served by Johnston, one of the sweetest humans you'll ever meet. He has the most warming smiling! He answered all our questions and took his time to let us decide on the right dish. There's a huge selection to choose from, we were craving breakfast items and went with the chilaquiles (special of the day) and Crabby Bennys. The chilaquiles were okay, the green and red salsa were not spicy at all and needed more salt. The crabby bennys, were also okay. The coffee was okay, and you get constant refills. Now the churro French toast was an absolute delight!! So so good!!! Comfort is a place where people have turned their lives around for the better, a great charitable organization to support. We will definitely come back to try other items. The staff is absolutely superb!

Absolutely one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while! The story of this place is great! Had breakfast here this morning I had smoked salmon scrambled eggs with dill hollandaise sauce. My wife had lemon blueberry crepes. My grandson had churro crepes! The decor is great and the service was good! Only accepts cash. And it is a donation based payment. Recommend highly!

From the warm greeting at the door by the lovely hostess to my sweet waiter Brian, everything was amazing. The music was exquisite, the food was sooo comforting and delish. I also loved knowing comfort cafe is a non profit organization helping those in need. I'm so grateful to have been able to support such a beautiful mission. My family definitely enjoyed comfort cafe. *cash only. If you did not bring cash like us... Don't sweat it, they have an atm in the back by restrooms. Their menus have no pricing so it's purely donation.

My dear AXO sister, Sallie, and sister in Christ and I celebrate each other's birthdays. Grateful for her. We had brunch @comfortcafesatx today. Such great food and even better cause. Sallie had the Lone Star, which was 3 scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown casserole, and swapped the pancake for raspberry crepe. I had the Blueberry Crepe (came with 2 in an order) and a side of crispy bacon. Maya was a great server. Everything was fabulous! We also stopped by @sweetserenitycoffeehouse to check out the new bakery. Very nicely decorated and welcoming. i bought Lemon Blueberry Scones for tomorrow's breakfast.

Had been wanting to try comfort Café for quite some time I'd heard that the lines were long at times so at this particular time that I went it wasn't a wait. my spouse ordered pancakes and I ordered an omelette. Everything is delicious. I truly enjoyed the meal there and like they said before for those of you who have not been there, there are no menu prices. It's all based on a gratuity that you fill is worth they suggest $15 an entree which I think is fair like I said I saw some of the other plates. the stuff French toast looked amazing and I will try that when I go back, the service was impeccable.

Ask the Community - Comfort Cafe

    Is a cash only business?

Yes, cash only. They do have an ATM in the restaurant.

    Wait time to eat?

30min if they are busy, and they are almost always busy. Such a good cause I don't mind the inconvenience. You can sit in your car cause they will text you.

How u check in or place a reservation?

Reservations are for 8 or more everyone else can walk in - the wait is not what it used to be at Los patios

How can I make a reservation for Thanksgiving?

You can get on los patios waitlist or if your a party of 8 or more you can make a reservation at either location on FB messenger or call

    Do you take reservations?

For parties of 8 or more yes

How can I get on the waitlist for Mothers Day at the Loop 410 location?

You will probably have to wait until Mother's Day. I don't see where there is a " Call ahead". Another option is call the cafe itself and ask.

Are there better times on weekends where the wait isn't that long?

Usually within the first hour of opening, you can get in fairly quick. After that, go through Yelp and join the waitlist ahead of time so when you get there, you only have a few minutes to wait after checking in. The location on Bandera seems to do…

How do I get on the waitlist?

There is one for los patios location sign on through yelp - there isn’t one for Bandera just walk in

    Do they do takeout?

Yes but need to come in and order

How do I reserve a table? How much time in advance is needed for a reservation?

You don't reserve a table. I would either go first thing in the morning, get in line online, or just be prepared to wait because it gets packed quick.

Is there a coffee bar at the Bandera location?

We have Vietnamese and cold brew but not full bar

Hello! What forms of payments are accepted?

Check or cash - we do have ATM on site

    What's my place in line?

Los patios yelp should tell you

Years ago I used to have a job where I needed to wear suits and professional attire on a daily basis. For years I kept those suits and dresses thinking I was probably going to need them again in the near future. Well after five years of just storing them and never wearing them I decided to donate them at Dress for Success. Why I chose this nonprofit? Because I know that the clothes I donate will go to someone that actually needs it and will make good use of it. The donation process was super easy. They take donations Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 12:30pm, except for the first week of the month. When you arrive to the building, you need to head to the back area where you will see a gate. A staff member will let you in and will pick-up all your donations. If you need a donation receipt for your taxes they can also provide that for you. I am so happy that I was able to support this amazing organization and I appreciate all the work they do to empower women!

Our veterinarian had originally quote us almost $1,000 just for the spay, which seemed a little over the top for such a common procedure. I went online and found Spay Neuter Network which is a nonprofit that provides affordable spay/neuter services for dogs and cats. Making the appointment online was super easy and I originally only had to pay $20 to secure my dog's appointment. On the day of the appointment my husband dropped him off at 7am and by 3:00pm he was ready to go home. At the end, we did end up paying about $100 more for some additional vaccinations that our dog needed prior to the procedure. This place is hard to rate. They have a couple of outlets - one on S Probandt, and one on Walzam…read moreRd. Probandt is an old warehouse and the goods are presented in a commensurate fashion, making it kind of a dump to go to. BUT it is very large and they have a lot of items. The Walzam Rd location is smaller, more store-like and a lot cleaner. Selection is similar but my impression is of smaller quantities and more limited selection. They both carry a wide range of construction and household materials, whether reclaimed from remodels or demolitions, or closeouts, seconds and scratch-and-dent. They also have a lot of paints, much of which is "evolve", a brand that keeps excess project or returned paint from being senselessly dumped in landfills. Prices are better than the building materials stores, but you still need to know what a good price is, as some of the smaller household goods can be found for less elsewhere (mainly online). But bargains are to be found if you don't mind spending time browsing. I suggest coming prepared with a complete list of what you might need, so you come away with what you really want at a price that suits you. All of that said, remember that this is a thrift store for Habitat for Humanity, a very good organization that makes affordable housing available for low income people. So anything you buy supports a great cause. I would have rated this 3-stars, but the nature of what their main focus is caused me to make it 4-stars since the dollars you spend here contributes to helping people in need.
