A welcome addition to the Stone Oak area! Our waitress, Linda (Who was fantastic, by the way) explained that this is the first franchise outside of Canada, right here in San Antonio. I wondered when I saw on the Menu, the Poutine Skillet--which I ordered. The interior is open and very greeting with shades of yellow and other welcoming colors. As I mentioned, our waitress, Linda was very helpful in pointing out menu items and sharing a bit about the restaurant. The poutine was fantastic, a perfect blend of flavors with the poutine adding a subtle nuance of texture and flavor. My wife loved her shrimp and grits. Pur & Simple was perhaps too similar to an IHOP for me and simply put, did not purely impress. Now, in fairness, I did order a simple egg, bacon and biscuit breakfast so not a thrilling meal to begin with. The potatoes side was cold and lacked any flavor. In a bit of an odd location rather than a standalone, P&S doesn't lack on insta worthy shots (both in food presentation and decor). The usual trendy vibes, with the usual brunch foods. What stood out to me, and made the adventure worth it, were the service and variety of gluten free options. We happened to have the pleasure of being the only ones sitting outside, but that didn't mean we were forgotten! We received excellent and friendly service which made us hang around for a little longer than we normally would have. Many items on the menu are either gluten free or can be made gluten free and the server seemed to have good knowledge about what contained what, always a good sign. Stopped in at Pür & Simple for an early morning breakfast on my way to Austin and was pleasantly surprised. It's a cute, upscale diner with a fresh and modern feel -- definitely a step above your typical breakfast stop. I was recommended the Ray's Extravaganza Bowl, and it did not disappoint. The spicy hollandaise was so tasty and really brought everything together. The bowl itself was hearty and filling, perfect fuel for a road trip. This place popped up and in my area and looked like a great breakfast and lunch place. We went around 1pm and the wait was about 15 to 30 minutes but turned out to be less than 10 minutes. We were greeted pretty quickly after being seated by Kia. A fantastic person and super fun to talk with when she has time! There's actually some cocktail offerings and mocktails which were actually pretty good! The decor felt like something I would see in a downtown eatery but around the corner from a local HEB. I had the prosciutto sandwich with the signature potatoes and we also ordered the smash burger and a club sandwich. Everything tasted local and fresh. The bread tasted home made and that made it more savory for me. The smash burger was perfect and everything was great. It's a very enjoyable spot but you have to find the right time to go because when you go during peak time it's pretty busy. Second visit today for breakfast and knowing how busy it gets I checked in online. I arrived and waited a few minutes to get seated but just as my first visit waited over 45 minutes for food after placing my order. The manager passed by several times and seemed to be very engaged on his mobile phone but did stop and apologize for the wait and ask if there was anything they could do in the meantime. I asked for a Bloody Mary and he turned around and asked our waiter to take the order instead of just handing it. I overheard the waiter ask if they would be comping the drink and the manager said no. Not that I expected it to be comped but it would have been nice. This is a busy restaurant and it seems that the kitchen has a hard time keeping up but the food is fresh and delicious and portions are generous. Finally had a chance to check out this spot for brunch with my gym friends for a post-holiday get together. I was starving and none of us had ever been here. We were checking out the menu and Maryanne was our server. She asked if we had any questions and gave us a few minutes. I was in the mood for savory and protein so I chose the Corned Beef Bowl with a poached egg. My other friend had the same but with an over-easy egg. The other friend ordered the Xplosion which includes 2 HUGE pieces of French Toast topped w/strawberries, bananas and Nutella. My other friend just ordered an omelette(I think Ham) with their house potatoes. Our food came out within 15-20 minutes and we were all surprised at how huge the portions were, esp. the French Toast which was very thick, but with a soft texture even for the crust vs. being toasty. I loved the Corned Beef Bowl, though as it had chunky pieces of beef, tasty potatoes which weren't flat tasting and I'd say the sides of Hollandaise weren't needed, really. My friend and I asked for the Hollandaise on the side and they gave us one regular and one slightly spicy in a ramekin. We assumed we were going to share it even though I said I just wanted the regular? I asked for the red onions on the side because I thought they were raw so my friend asked for me to have them on the side and she'd eat them. I think the manager was the one who came by to ask who wanted the red onions on the side and if I also wanted the bell peppers also on the side? I told him that I only wanted the red onions on the side for my friend. They were sautéed so that was good to know. My friend asked if I liked the Hollandaise and I tried both. They were okay and I told her kinda cheesy tasting vs. a traditional flavor w/some lemon. She thought it tasted cheesy as well. I added some Tabasco on the side to dip my potatoes in but the dish was already flavorful and didn't need anything else, IMO. I couldn't finish my dish nor my friend so we took our leftovers home. Service was attentive when we first arrive and Maryanne would check up on is if we need anything or if we were finished and needed any boxes. The manager who I assumed was the manager as he was the one who asked about the onions and how we were doing, also came by. One of my friends was taking longer to finish her meal as she was talking so Maryanne was attending to other tables. When we were asking other employees for the check, they'd tell us they'd notify her. It took awhile for her to come by and we waited maybe another 10-15 minutes until we asked another employee and were ready to just go to the front desk to pay. She finally came and knowing it was busier but other servers were sometimes behind the front counter, perhaps Maryanne could've given us our individual checks when she gave our to-go boxes. I ended up paying with cash and my bill was $18.94. I gave Maryanne, the waitress $25 in cash. ($20 bill & $5 bill). She only gave me 5 $1-dollar bills but didn't include the change from the $20($1.06). That should've been returned as well as my receipt. We had to go so I just left a tip. It's unfortunate that this is what happens when you don't pay by credit card. I'll be back for the Corned Beef Bowl but be mindful of how I pay next time. read more

It's our anniversary and we wanted to start our day with a great breakfast. I've read many great reviews of this restaurant, so we thought we'd check it out. We arrived closer to 11:00 am and the parking lot appeared full. Good sign! We walked it and there was no wait, but the staff was nonstop busy. The restaurant is large, bright and inviting. There's seating available inside and out. Prices are on par with other restaurants in north central San Antonio serving breakfast and lunch. Not expensive, but not cheap either. Our server, Anela, was so pleasant and attentive. My husband ordered the 'mish mash omelette' and I ordered the 'waffle with fresh fruit and vanilla cream drizzle'. I also had a glass of fresh orange juice-YUM! My husband had a cup of coffee. BTW, they serve Nespresso. He said it was very good. They also offer, lattes, americano, espresso, etc. I must say, we were extremely satisfied with everything! I'm a foodie, and I take reviews seriously. This establishment is doing everything right! We had gone once and absolutely loved it. Our second visit was not quite as enjoyable, especially the sticker shock... $90 (including a modest tip) for 2, blowing that displayed internet average of "$20-30 per person." DH started with a Cappuccino. For a cappuccino, it was TINY. He ended up ordering a soft drink since he was finished with the coffee before the food even arrived. I had a regular coffee. His breakfast, according to the in-restaurant menu, came with pancakes. There are different online menus, even for this particular location, that list French toast as part of it, and other internet menus list options. DH doesn't like pancakes, so he asked if it was possible to give me his pancakes and order a side of toast. No problem! The waitress then pointed to three types of pancakes on the menu and asked which ones I wanted. I chose berries because everything else sounded way too sweet. I ordered the avocado lox, understandably the most expensive dish on the menu. The portions were huge and we couldn't finish, but you can't really take leftover avocado toast with smoked salmon home now, can ya? Not really. Our bill arrived and were charged $6.50 for the toast, another $18 for the pancakes that were supposedly part of his breakfast that I was taking off his hands. We asked our waitress, who was otherwise very nice, but she said this was how they handled plated situations like ours. Ouch. For roughly the same price, we could have had lunch at the nearby Brazilian steakhouse with prime cuts of beef, like ribeye, as much of it as we wanted. The food was tasty, no question, and looked delicious as evident in the photos, but I don't think most people would look at that and say "I'd pay almost a hundred bucks for that!" And after that instance, we decided we wouldn't do that again either. All that aside, service was good, the space is very inviting, clean, and vibrant, and the food is tasty! read more

Went on Sunday morning around 9:30 am for breakfast. We got seated right away. Upon being seated we noticed the yellow fabric chairs are not made for people with large behinds. Our menus were dirty, had food dried in them and the spiral was coming out one end, which I fixed. We looked over the menu and decided on what to order. It took 5-10 minutes to be acknowledged by a server. And then it took a bit to get our water and one coffee. The server appeared to have 3-4 tables. We ordered and waited for quite some time for our food. The scrambled eggs were not cooked all the way, still wet in the middle and cold. Bacon was ok as well as the potatoes. But for as busy as they were the food was cold. Which means it sat in the window for a bit or they cook all the food ahead of time. Not sure. 55$ for three people to eat and one meal was a kids meal is honestly horrible for the quality of food and service we got. I had high hopes this would be great due to other reviews and family members personal experience. But I was not impressed. We placed an online breakfast order at 9:50 AM and even got a confirmation email with order tracking. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. We intentionally killed time at Starbucks so we wouldn't rush them. When we arrived, the order status still showed "Accepted" not "preparing" or "ready." My husband went inside and waited over 10 minutes without a single person acknowledging him. No "we'll be right with you," no eye contact, nothing. After waiting for a while, a manager comes out and asks to see the receipt; specifically to confirm my husband's name. The receipt literally had his name on it. Another employee even tried to tell the manager he was the correct order. He often deals with people doubting that his name is his name, it's weird and exhausting, and this felt like more of that. After that, the manager disappeared and never came back. No explanation. No apology. No update. Then a different employee came out, asked again what he ordered, took a picture of the receipt, and walked away without saying anything like: * "We're remaking it," * "We're behind," * or even "Sorry for the wait." After nearly TWO HOURS; yes, from 9:50 AM until almost 11:45 AM; he finally got the order. At no point did anyone communicate what was happening or acknowledge the inconvenience. We weren't upset that they were busy, we were upset at the customer service more than anything. A simple, "Thanks for your patience, we're just behind. Give us 10 more minutes," would've been enough. If the restaurant is overwhelmed, understaffed, or disorganized, that happens. But basic customer service and communication shouldn't disappear with it. Breakfast shouldn't take longer than a dentist appointment. And by the way, the order tracking still shows "Accepted." Not "preparing." Not "ready." Just... accepted. The menu has a variety of food options to include breakfast plates, omelettes, benedict varieties, crepes, all day lunch, and a kids menu. I had the "cup" sized latte but would recommend ordering the "bowel" size as l'm a huge coffee drinker and the smaller size was not enough. The food portions are large! We tried the all American plate, corn beef hash bowel, the ray's extravaganza, and kid's party pancakes that did not disappoint.
