This place is lowkey high end. Each dish was immaculately presented and was very delicious. There were a variety of dishes with breakfast and lunch options. I learned that Humo Eatery quietly took over the spot occupied by SoHill Cafe, which sadly we never visited. The restaurant is small and homey. It was very warm inside, but we were immediately seated. The temperature could be related to the kitchen being open which allows us a view into the prep. We placed our orders for coffee and food. I ordered a vanilla cold brew and the avocado toast and an ube pancake. Our coffee arrived at the table. I didn't have high hopes (this looked like one of those North Carolina milk coffees), but I was happily surprised. The coffee was strong and flavorful. The vanilla was delicious and it was definitely not over milky. *A long time later* Am amuse bouche arrived at the table. It was an adorable miniature cup of oats, chia seeds (maybe), yogurt, fruit, and honey. It was a delicious little bite. I think I don't like oats and chia until I have some like these! *A long time passes* Yay! Our food arrived. The food was beautifully presented. The avocado toast looked too good to jump into. After waiting so long, I didn't realize we didn't get the pancake and my guy's eggs were prepared incorrectly. They rectified that quickly. Overall the toast was tasty. I didn't note the sauce, but I felt like it was way too much. A small drizzle would be enough. The prosciutto was a nice addition. One egg had a slight run, the other almost hard boiled. The toast was tasty and buttery when I was about to get a bite without the sauce. The ube pancake was saved for dessert. It was delicious and sweet and covered in a cream cheese icing (my absolute kryptonite). I can't imagine a plate of these for breakfast, but I could imagine a plate of these for dessert instead of a cake. The food was overall good. The pancake was the star! The vanilla cold brew could be a daily habit. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and trying it out again. read more

This restaurant constantly popped up on Instagram, so after I looked, the food looked very well prepared and delicious. I told my mainest girl about it and she was sort of into it but since she's not on social media anymore, she didn't have the benefit of the visuals from their posts. Fast forward to her meeting up with one of her bff's and spouse and we finally made it in. We were immediately greeted and offered water and coffee. As our friends arrived we browsed the menu and talked amongst ourselves. I opted for the pork Lala with over easy eggs and coffee. Once the food came out, it was well plated and looked delicious. My mainest girl had avocado toast and an ube pancake (which ended up being the star of the show) and an iced latte (I stand corrected, my homegirl got a vanilla cold brew). The good: All of the food was tasty and well plated. I tried her toast and pancake and was blown away. My puerco dish was very well seasoned and delicious. Staff were very friendly and checked on us. The so-so: We waited quite a while for our food to come out. There were four of us, but each of us got one plate. The restaurant wasn't overly full but it was busy. Not a deal breaker but it was noticeable. The misses: It was very hot in the restaurant, like uncomfortably hot to the point where we were sweating. Also, I asked for an over easy egg but got a scrambled egg. They fixed it when I brought to their attention. There's also a massive food truck parked right in front of the restaurant, if you're not paying attention, you'll miss it. My understanding is it's part of Humo which leads to confusion of concept. I'd definitely come back, none of the misses are deal breakers. I want to explore the menu a bit more. read more

SOOO good!! i heard about this place from a coworker and read about it in a Culture Map article, and my only regret is not coming here sooner because apparently they change their menu! My boyfriend and I tried the Green Pozole, Barbacoa Benedict (pictured), and Peanut Butter Banana Pancakes. Phenomenal food and very friendly servers! Solid breakfast all around. The crab cake eggs Benedict was the highlight flavorful, perfectly poached, and topped with Otto sauce. The barbacoa chilaquiles were hearty and well-seasoned with just the right kick, and the French toast was thick, soft, and not overly sweet. We went due to the 5 star review. I wanted to try something different so I went with the Huevos de Torribio as I have never had Barbacoa. After wait about 20 minutes we got our food which also included street tacos and pancakes. My dish was well presented. The eggs on top were perfectly cooked over easy. But I would have to say it was hard to detect the barbacoa as it was so finely chopped it was almost a paste consistency. I was hoping it had more of a "bite" to it. The flavor of the vegetables though was very good. Just disappointed in the meat. The Refried beans and ranch potatoes were good too. My companions enjoyed their street tacos. And the buttermilk pancakes looked delicious golden and puffy. The place didn't appear that busy just moderately busy. But the servers seemed a bit frazzled and a little unorganized. read more
