First time here and I fell in-love with this place. Service: amazing! Our waiter was attentive and even had great suggestions such as the mixed grill for one so my husband could try a variety of the meats. Very welcoming staff. Ambiance: it felt like I was on a vacation. You step into a cozy atmosphere with pretty lighting and art. Beautiful place for a date night or group of friends. Food: tasty and refreshing. The flavors just weren't there. Wait staff was slow and a bit in the clouds, had to remind him twice for our beverage order( 2 waters). One order got messed up but corrected immediately. When asking for olive oil instead of their spice blend for the complimentary bread, we were informed they didn't have any olive oil... yyaaa.... Oookkkkaayyy..... Again, the flavor just weren't there for their price points. Were there a good amount of options? Yes. But when it came down to the flavors, size of food plated and quality. This place was such a unique and fun restaurant in San Antonio. The food was all fresh with amazing flavors and great ambiance. As other reviews mentioned, service was a little slow, but the waiters were super busy so it was understandable. Great place to go for cool vibes with something different! First time trying this place out. A small restaurant. We had a short wait for our table; we waited in the pastry shop next door (connected to the restaurant) Of course Saturdays are always a busy time for restaurants. I had the chicken Shish Kabob which was quite delectable. Portion was ample. My dining guest had the Lamb & Beef Doner which was an ample portion. I saw plastic water bottles on the neighboring tables and thought it looked tacky. It kind of took away something from my dining experience. We tried the baklava (pistachios with filo pastry and butter syrup). Not really a fan of it... we will be returning to try other dishes. read more

Great vibes. Great food. The meat, rice and salad Combo is perfect. We did beef and lamb. Even my son enjoyed all. It's a solid meal that could feed 2 with the entree if you aren't hungry or greedy af. It came with bread but they forgot the dipping sauce... bummer but my son still tore up. Pretty slow service and not the most attentive but the food more than makes up for it. Their complimentary bread and dipping sauce is addictive, and everything I've ordered is consistently delicious. My family and I stopped by for the first time and tried the falafel, Mediterranean salad, lamb chops, and the Dubai chocolate from the connecting place next door. The lamb chops were absolutely bomb and could give Chamagocha a real run for their money. The rice and salads were fresh, flavorful, and honestly exceeded my expectations. Be careful choosing to spend your money here!!! The lady with lip filler is shady and is a terrible waiter. Me and my partner wanted to order the mixed grill for 2. The chick said we should get the mix grill for 1 and lamb chops. For variety and a lesser price without explaining the price difference. And, at that point she had the menus in hand so we couldn't check. Instead of paying $55 she up charged us to $75 and that's just the entree! We waited 20 mins to be told we got completely taken advantage of. My boyfriend called her out and she threw us $5 out of their cash bag. DISGUSTING restraunt service. Go to Selda or Kababchi. If you have not been to Chef's Table - go...now. I've been here twice now and both times have been Excellent!. Having spent a little time in Turkey (2 years) where I ate a lot of food I appreciate that eating here evoked so many memories of food shared with others. On our first visit, we started off with the mixed grill. Really loved the muammara, though the baba ganoush was also outstanding - and who can forget that bread! Its warm, and so good at soaking up pretty much anything. For my main, I had to get the lamb tava. You don't see this on a lot of menus in the US. This is flavorful, with bell pepper, onion, garlic, and tomatoes. It was perfect, truly warmed the soul. On the second visit I opted for the Iskender kabob. Lamb and beef thinly sliced layered over.....bread.....which soaked up all those juices. Again - perfect. Don't forget dessert (store next door, but connected). There is nothing better to end a great meal than a great dessert. I'm a huge fan of pretty much pistaciho anything. I think its times to plan another trip to SATX! read more

Tonight we tried this restaurant and it was amazing! The staff, the food, the location...everything was great! We've never had Turkish food before so we decided to be safe and order the pide. It's basically a Turkish pizza. My husband had a cheese pide and I had a spinach and feta pide. So flavorful and filling. The bread and dipping sauce they bring when you are seated was also fantastic. The sauce is spicy but not too spicy. It's a kind of sweet and salty and like nothing I've ever tried. They also have a Turkish coffee and dessert place connected. The pastries look like they are out of a magazine. So perfect looking. We went a little late in the evening so I didn't get to try the coffee but I definitely intend to the next time I come back. read more

So received a pop up ad for this place and decided to try it for dinner today. The food is oh-so flavorful. For appetizers we ordered the falafel and it was cooked to perfection. The fried cauliflower isn't quite fried but moreso boiled. My partner ordered chicken Iskender and the sauce mixed with the chicken was so good but add the crispiness? OMG so good. There was so much to choose from and I couldn't pick so my waitress picked for me (she didn't miss). I had the mix grill for one. I hate to write this as I had such a great experience at the Babcock location. My family and I walked in to the Bandera location and as soon as we entered we were rudely greeted by an older woman because my sister walked straight to a table. She started pointing to a sign that was backwards by the way that said "please wait to be seated". Unfortunately we did see it because the sign was backwards and not facing the entrance. The woman then asked how many in our party. My sister told her that there are 8 in our party. She then, with an attitude, said I need to know how many kids and how many adults. I didn't understand why this was important as all the children needed a chair to sit in regardless. She kept going back to talk to a gentleman and he just told her to seat us. She then offered us two large seating areas and told us to choose which one. As soon as my sister chose the table on the right, she then suggested we take the table to the left instead. I don't even understand the purpose for giving us an option then suggest something else. My family and I just felt very uncomfortable in the 5 minutes we were in there. We ended up just walking out. I can only imagine how we would have been treated if we stayed. I hate to even write this because we have only positive experiences at the Babcock location and the food is delicious. read more

I was really disappointed with this place. I came for the Manti and Chicken Shawarma, but it wasn't worth it. The service is a mess because there was only ONE guy doing everything--seating, cleaning, phones, and orders. He was doing 4 people's jobs while another guy just sat outside on a laptop. Not sure if laptop guy worked there, but he was familiar enough to walk in and grab something while the other guy had zero help. We couldn't order more rice or extra yogurt for the manti because the server was too busy. The chicken shawarma had no Mediterranean spices and just tasted like plain American chicken. The bread was semi-cold, too. The atmosphere is just weird. Tree-trunk tables that are awkward and heavy chairs that are super loud. The lighting is an identity crisis--half Turkish lamps with burnt-out bulbs, half dark dungeon. Also, they don't give you free water. They charge $1.50 for those tiny bottles you buy in bulk and don't tell you until the bill comes. To top it off, the woman in the bakery was so rude. The display cases are built so she can't see what you're pointing at, and she was yelling at us to say the names of the desserts even though half of them aren't labeled. If you can't see, come around the counter and help. read more

Heard so many reviews about this place and had to try it out. Walked in on an early Saturday afternoon, around 1130am, and it wasn't that busy but it did pick up later! We beat the rush! Our server was incredibly nice and gave us recommendations on what to eat. She was patient and kind. The ambiance transported me to turkey with the decor, and the beautiful lights! We ordered the following: Hummus: it was excellent. The kids tore it up! Not overly lemony or oily! It was actually very good and excellent for dipping with the free bread they give you! Chicken Tava: it came out piping hot. Full of onions and peppers in a nice gravy sauce. Rice was included with this meal which is similar to a rice pilaf. I'm torn with the dish. It was good, but I think if they added a little more salt, it would have taken it to a different level. I'd still recommend it if you like stew! Beef tenderloin shake kebab: my daughter loved it with the rice. The beef was tender but needed a little more flavor as well. The salad was good as well but a little overdressed. The dressing was bright and tangy. Cheese Pide: the dough is very similar to the bread they provided us at the beginning. The cheese is so good! It taste like fresh mozzarella! It was very good and the kids loved it! Lamb & Beef Doner (Gyro) meat: the server brought this for all of us to taste because I couldn't make a decision between this and the chicken Tava. Let me tell you...this was probably THE best dish and it was complimentary! It was packed full of flavor. There were hints of lemon in it too! I would definitely recommend this plate/meat above everything else!!! It was so good! There were crispy ends & tender ends! Definitely a must! While some dishes fell a little flat, they were all still pretty good but I'd still recommend this place! The service was great, the ambiance was beautiful and the food was good. The other best part of this restaurant is that it attaches to the most decadent pastry shop right next door! You don't even have to go outside...they opened a wall for easy access!! lol!! Though this restaurant is on the opposite side of town, it is well worth the drive for the delicious food and desserts. Chef's Table is one of my favorite Mediterranean restaurants in town. Service is impeccable and there are a variety of options for both vegetarians and meat lovers. I love the beautiful decorative plates hanging on the walls as well as the glass chandeliers. This is was a unique Mediterranean restaurant. There is an inviting outdoor seating area and a beautifully decorated interior. There was no waiting and we were immediately seated. We were served bread with a spicy chili dip. We had never had this dip but my husband loved it. I don't care for spicy food so I only had a tiny taste and that was enough heat for me. We both ordered the Mediterranean salad, one with lamb and the other chicken. The portion was a sizeable amount. The dressing was delicious and the meats were very tasty. I've come to this location a few times and the experience is on average really good! The location is clean and decor is festive, you feel welcomed in and ambience is good. Service varies per visit - there have been times we were served in a timely manner and times we waited 30+ minutes for appetizers. This is regardless of the business being busy or not. The quality of the food doesn't miss - the hummus is fantastic and not overly seasoned, and we loved the flatbread that comes with the meals. We typically order two or three mixed grill platters to share with family - they are huge! I recommend one platter per two people (and you will have leftovers). I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the mood for great food in the northwest side of town. read more

The ambiance was lovely: great mellow music and quiet enough we could easily converse. But the food was the star of the show. Ample servings of fresh salad, moist and tender rice, delicious hummus and bread, and the best gyro I've had in San Antonio. The meat was tender, plentiful and well-seasoned.
