Came in for a girls brunch and, to be honest, I'm not usually a big fan of First Watch to begin with. That said, I have to give credit where it's due -- the food was actually really good this time. The chorizo omelette was good. I couldn't finish it all plus we did order pancakes too and they were just great. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the experience we were hoping for. Our waitress seemed visibly annoyed when we ordered, like she just didn't want to be there. I completely understand it was busy for a Saturday, but service felt really slow -- it took quite a while to get basic things like silverware and eventually the check. Overall, the food was a highlight, but the service left a lot to be desired. Sadly, I don't plan on coming back. For San Antonio, I think I can find a better spot for girls brunch. read more

Stopped in for breakfast while visiting the San Antonio area, and wow--what a fantastic choice. Breakfast was truly AMAZING. We started with the lemon blueberry cornbread, which was the perfect warm-up. My husband ordered an omelette, I went with the avocado toast topped with smoked salmon, and I paired it with the Morning Meditation juice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The coffee was delicious, and they even surprised us with their homemade bacon--sweet, savory, and absolutely unforgettable. Everything was okay, but I will say the glasses for water were dirty, as well as the water jars/jugs. We asked for a clean drinking glass, but was handed ANOTHER dirty glass. First Watch was recommended by a very good friend of mine. I finally got an opportunity to have breakfast there today, the night before Christmas. There are several of these First Watch locations around San Antonio but I tried the one just north of Wurzbach on the frontage rd. The restaurant is very nice inside, clean, modern but not cold looking, a place you would want to meet friend for breakfast or lunch. The staff was very friendly, seating me at a booth where I could look out the window. I told Lia,my waitress, this was my first time and would she recommend a few items. Her input was very helpful. I had the Tri-Fecta breakfast. A multigrain blue berry pancake with eggs sunny side up and I upgraded to the million dollar bacon side and coffee. OMG was this good! I like real maple syrup, so I added that to my order but the pancake came with a blueberry compote which was excellent. The pancake was tender and cooked to perfection. The bacon is to die for. Excellent coffee topped off the meal. There were so many items on the menu I want to try, their versions of eggs Benedict and different hash but it will have to wait until next time. While I wanted a skillet, I opted for something less oily and heavy. The BLT Egg Benny did the trick. While the eggs weren't as runny as I'd expect, it was still full of flavor. My family enjoyed their meals. We decided to split a stack of blueberry pancakes, and we learned that our stack was delivered to the wrong table. It took a while to actually get the pancakes, yet when they came, they contained the most and largest amount of blueberries I've seen in any pancake. My husband said the blueberry topping was good with the flapjacks. It was challenging to layer the butter since the pancakes broke apart early when we attempt to lift the top one to butter the bottom one. I was good with just butter and syrup. For all the time we waited to get them, they took them off our tab. If you plan to visit, make sure to check in via Yelp. That's saved us a wait every time. read more

I had gotten a call as soon as I was about to get seated and the hostess was kind and patient enough to let me finish my conversation. Thankfully there wasn't anybody behind me. I got seated to the corner. A waiter arrived and didn't introduce himself but seemed to be in a rush and asked me what I wanted to order when I haven't had enough time to glance at the menu. I was like hold on dude let me decide so I had told him. I didn't want any juice so I ordered water. I decided on a waffle with sausage and ham. The waiter took my order then left. He sent a runner to bring me my food. The waffle was OK, sausages were meh and the smoked ham was great. I was passing by and needed to eat something before my next meeting so I ordered a breakfast sandwich to go. The front staff was helpful but I thought I ordered a plain bacon and egg. I still got charged about $12 for it. The back of house staff brings out a large to go bag and calls out for Kim. Kim's not there. After standing around, because they didn't offer a seat in the empty restaurant, I asked if perhaps that was my order. Are you Kim? No. Then no. Okay but no one else is here. I ask a different person and sure enough that was my sandwich! I never gave them a name. Do I look like a Kim? Totally bizarre. I take my sandwich to the car and of course there's not one fork for the potatoes and definitely not a napkin for the runny egg. The food itself was delicious, which is the only reason they're getting three stars. They definitely need to work on customer service. read more

I wasn't brave enough to order the whole thing, because it was new to me, so I ordered the half and a broccoli soup. This sandwich was incredible! I ordered it just as it comes: Roast beef, Horseradish Havarti cheese, house-roasted onions and tomato with lemon-dressed arugula on grilled Parmesan-crusted sourdough. Horseradish sauce on the side. Once I picked it up...I could not put it down. Actually I suggest not putting it down because it was kinda messy but in a good way Then it was all gone and I realized I hadn't even taken a photo...it was that good. Okay Yelpers! Back to First Watch this chill, damp Saturday morning, hankering for coffee and breakfast. Last minute decision, we failed to join the wait list, which found us in queue for 25 minutes. (Note to self: ALWAYS join the waitlist!! ) But no matter, our hippocampus was primed with memory of the delicious petit-déjeuner we previously shared. Marjan chose the classic breakfast, but for me, I chose new option: "Power Bowl" ! This is a bowl of quinoa, tomato, Italian sausage, mushers, a pair of basted eggs (steamed eggs) kale, strings of Parmesan, and a bit of dressing. Quinoa can be a bit bland, so salting and peppering, adding a bit of hot sauce (Marjan) really amped up the flavor. But in truth, the dish as served prevailed on its own merits. We enjoyed the dish, and i will definitely order on return. Marjan's classic was as expected: perfect for her hunger this morning. I've been here several times and staff is always friendly. Checked in using waitlist on a Friday morning but it wasn't necessary since there wasn't any wait. The dining area is bright and very clean. I ordered the Tri-athlete and it was very fresh and yummy. It came with pico-de-gallo which was a bit watery but still tasted great. The fruit accompanying it was a nice mix of pineapple and berries but a little warm due to it being served on a warm plate. Otherwise it was perfect. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food. This place has always been great. Been to other branches in several states, always good and homey. We would come here to drink coffee and watch the weather honestly. Simple and comforting feels. Had time for brunch and got some pancakes. I don't even eat pancakes regularly but these were pumpkins and it's the season, I went for it. So fluffy and soft and delish!
