FANTASTIC!!! Wow!! Considering San Antonio has a ton of of Mexican restaurants to choose from, this one is truly a gem! Located in a small strip mall off of Evers Road, it's definitely worth checking out! The flour tortillas are amazing. The chips and salsa were very good. I thoroughly enjoyed my Carne Guisada plate with rice and beans. My friend loved her puffy tacos. Will definitely return when I'm in the neighborhood! read more

Very small inside, be prepared to wait. My son got a bean and cheese taco and it was quite large. I tried one of the lunch plates, I believe it was called the Tex-Mex. 2 cheese enchiladas, carne guisada, beans and rice. The guisada was so very tender, definitely a good choice. It did look like they do to go orders as well. This is a no frills kind of place, but good friendly servers and good food. read more

Amazing tortillas. Ordered tacos to go and was ready quick. Very nice staff. Tacos ordered was picadillo and cheese and potato and egg with bacon and chicharrones with egg and chorizo and egg and all delicious and hot! This was the first time going there for pickup. Will go next time for dine in and try it. But def our new to go to for breakfast tacos for sure! FYI: location is very small but it feels very homey read more

Delicious every single time we go... Food is always hot, never subpar and they are always welcoming and accommodating to any reasonable need. From the soups (like caldo and menudo), the botanas (nachoooss!) to the hearty tacos and plates...you're going to love every single item on their menu. The puffy tacos aren't greasy, they're light and fluffy while being perfectly filling. The carne guisada gravy cheese enchilada plate is to die for w their American cheese filling(or any one of your choice for that matter) and fluffy rice and bacon cannot be topped. EXCELLENT tacos, tortillas are the BEST! The lunch plates I don't like so much but their breakfast plate of Huevos Rancheros with bacon are the BEST. If you ask them to cook your fried potatoes longer to be toasted and extra crispy, you'll get COLD eggs EVERY time so just don't ask. Eat the plate like it comes, it's still amazing good! The place at breakfast and lunch is PACKED so expect to wait long for a table and shady people will walk in and sit at dirty tables knowing people are waiting, so decide now if it's worth dying for because they are the shady kind and probably packing. Remember what happened at Popeyes. It's not worth it. The service is sweet but sometimes they're understaffed. The tacos here are AMAZING good. Favs are Chiliquiles, Barbacoa, Bean, bacon and cheese. read more

Great food at a great price. Always order the bean and egg taco. Beans are great. I recently tried their menudo and it's the best in San Antonio and Arizona. The flavor is out of this world never had such great tasting flavor and lots of meat and the amount they give you for the price. They only have medium and large so just go for the large even if you think that's to much believe me, you will finish it just like my wife did. My hole in the wall as my wife calls it but then again I'm there for the great tasting food and second the price. Try it at least once and you'll see for yourself. read more

I read the reviews on this place and needed to stop in. Just a little place but service was great! The waitress wore a mask, the tables were clean & the food was very good & reasonably priced! I had 2 tacos, one potato & egg and one chorizo & egg on corn tortillas. Both had great flavor on very tender corn tortillas. He had the sausage & egg plate with refried beans, Country potatoes & 2 flour tortillas. It's tucked away on a busy intersection but has plenty of parking. read more

It's my first day off in weeks. It's time to catch up on long overdue errands of which I'm only halfway done at the moment. It's noon and time for lunch. Within this parking lot is Asian, Moroccan and Mexican. Mexican it is! I opt for the lunch special - two offered today but I choose picadillo plate instead of cheese enchiladas. It arrives pretty quickly. I grew up on the majority of my week having Mexican food. The food here hits the spot, easy on my wallet and I don't have to wash pots and pans. The restaurant has been going down in its quality of services. Depending on who you get as a waitress depends on the price of your meal! Recently Liliana charged me 20% more for my breakfast and when I asked why the charge she said the morning discount did not apply followed by the place is the cheapest in town! Yet, a few days later I got another waitress and the discount did apply!!! I think I am giving up on this place since the quality of service is really going down. read more

The other reviews are not kidding when they say that everything is homemade. I am a fan of both the tortillas, the refried beans, and the carne guisada. The prices are great for what you receive. My one modest complaint is that the cheese is American, not cheddar. Just why? I'll have to bring my own cheese next time. read more

Located in a area which kinda look sketchy but once you enter you're like okay. It's a first come, first serve basis, so we had to wait. But the food was great, I ordered a torta and a chicken puffy taco. Both things I ordered had really good flavor and I finished it in two gulps, not really but you get the point. CALIFORNIA HERE!! WOW.. this little hole in the wall was sure a great find. Right when you walk in your greeted with the smell of Tortillas. It was as if I'm walking into my tia's house after her making her tortillas. I was held back on the part where I wasn't sure if I was supposed to sit myself? or wait for the waiter. But we just sat down and they gave us the menu's. Huevos Rancheros was BOMB. And the sweet tea just topped it off. Delicious off the beaten path. Hidden in this strip mall at Evers and Wurzbach is the a terrific Mexican restaurant. I love the consistency of perfect tortillas and every single taco or plate just delicious. The staff is very nice hard working ladies and always with a smile even at busy busy times. Call ahead for tacos to go is always fast and what I do most of the time. Cafe San Luis is always on point. Great place for consistently good breakfast tacos. read more

All five stars go to the tortillas!! Food is better than average. Let's just talk about the torts. When I try a new place the first thing I do is smell the tortillas to see if they will have good flavor or just be plain. I was happy to smell that they would be good. They had great texture and help turn good food better. The atmosphere was ok for being a whole in the wall kinda place. The restaurant had the smell of being here for awhile but couldn't tell. This has to be the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to here in San Antonio. I come from a little town by the border and the food here reminds me so much of home. This is a little hidden gem that is a great place to eat if you want authentic Mexican food. I came in the morning so I ordered huevos rancheros. It's was Saturday morning and mom wanted a haircut but of course her regular place wasn't open until 10:00am . So we had to waste sometime. So we decided to stop on by Café San Luis for some coffee and some breakfast tacos. What a great choice. The waitress brought us our menus and asked what we wanted to drink. She came back with two hot cups of coffee and took our order. My mother had an over easy egg and one pancake. I ordered a bean and chorizo taco, along with a chorizo and egg taco. Both order we made to your liking. The food was nice and hot , and our coffee cups were always filled to the top. So next time we have time to spear we might make a stop at San Luis for a good cup of coffee. read more

Great prices, fair food. I had the special, the mole plate. The mole was nothing to brag about. The rice was awfully greasy for being rice. The beans were delicious! The salsas were the hit of the meal! I enjoyed the red one, really spicy and yummy! The service was great. My water never went empty, and the food was brought out quickly! The place was a bit loud for lunch- they have a jukebox blaring over the television set. Overall, the place was clean, the service was friendly and fast. I'll certainly be back! read more

Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

The grilled fajitas were exceptional - meat perfectly seasoned and peppers and onions perfectly seasoned and cooked. The beans have a great flavor and even the rice (I'm just not a fan of most Mexican rice because it's bland) had a great flavor. The tortillas are the perfect thickness and are soft and warm. And of course - the green sauce - it's amazing! Our server was very friendly and prompt and the food came out quickly on a Saturday evening during prime dinner time. The true indicator of how good this place is - we were the only gringos in the entire restaurant! We will most definitely be back before long!! Well done!!

We started…read morewith the Pan Fila Conchota combo that is a combination of the two that is 1/2 gallon of hot chocolate made using a base of Abuelitas with additional cinnamon, and cocoa along with something special. It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.

Their host/doorman was kind, he offered the line water on many occasions and made pleasantries with almost all guests as the line moved. It was a hot day so those waters were clutch. By the time we made it to the front of order line maybe 40 minutes had passed. But ladies and gents the wait is worth it. When we plated our trays on the table my family all had heart eyes, and had equally loved our first bites. Their brisket is extremely tender. It's beautifully sliced and made for an amazing welcome back to the South taste for me. I was in heaven. I particularly enjoyed having the fresh pickled red onion for fresh, zesty cuts through the abundance of other saltier elements on the plate. Their menu is slammin! Their sides, and sausages all had crafty ingredients. I enjoyed their spicy link options and their macaroni was delightful. Their BBQ sauce was a nice 4/5 but certainly did the job. As a native Texan who's had their fair share, this was easily some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Top 5 top 5 top 5. I'm of course coming back and looking forward for more banana cream pudding especially. They were small, slightly sweet, and had great balance with the vanilla wafer ratio. That whip cream on top too had me hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome back meal for the bold Texas cuisine, hospitality, and novelty animal and cowboy decor.

The menu itself is expansive and service was quick enough. I ordered the puffy taco plate. The portion was generous but you could taste the industrial "taco seasoning" in the meat. The rice wasn't bad but the charro beans were flavorless, straight from a can but it seemed like the menu lacked focus as it tries too hard to offer "something for everyone ". It did look like a nice place to sit and have a few drinks, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I'll probably give it another shot, but maybe not.

The potatoes were a little undercooked (I like them a little browner and crunchier) and under-seasoned, but okay. Overall: glad a tried it, liked the vibe, and I'd like to go back and try lunch.
