    Flauta Plate
    Nina W.

This was my first visit here. The flauta plate was hardy with four chicken flautas, rice, beans, guac and sour cream. It was just okay. Mostly because it was a bit under-seasoned. The service was also just okay. We went right before closing (1:45) and felt rushed. We understood the time and planned to eat quickly but a customer should not ever feel like a burden. The ambiance was quaint and clean. Not a bad experience and not stellar.

Tacos are not what I remember. We visited as a party of 4, two kids two adults. Order at the counter and seat yourself. The flour tortillas were great but the carne guisada was dry. Something about their recipe changed. . . The country potato tacos came packed with sausage. The sausage is actually really good but I had to take some out because it was overflowing. My kids unfortunately did not enjoy their food. The ground beef soft tacos were too greasy and the beef fajita plate, the fajita meat was too soft and chewy. Not a great cut of meat. Normally a staple when we come into town but not sure we'll stop by again.

I was totally impressed with customer service, food portions & available seating. Every plate that went by me looked sooo good! I will visit Taco House again soon.

Fast Fresh Clean It's not often you get all three is a taco house. The tortilla are made in house and you can taste and feel the difference. The service is fast and friendly and the serving is generous. Highly recommend! It's been here for decades Incase you were worried it might disappear.

    Deluxe Nachos

I was in the mood for nachos, so I decided to try this place out. The Deluxe Nachos came piled high, I had them hold the onions and tomatoes so your order may look a little different. I wasn't a big fan of their Picadio meat on the nachos, it's too grainy for my palette. The guacamole was spot on the chips were crispy and the plate was piled high! I couldn't finish it all. You walk up to the counter and place your order and then they call your number to pick it up. So basically self serve. They have a banner celebrating 30 years in business, so the place is a little older but not in bad shape. It's all wide open with big tables so you could come with a larger group and be ok. They do close at 2pm. So you have to come early.

    Crispy taco

I love coming here. Their food is so fresh and authentic Tex-Mex. Their Barbacoa is not too greasy but not too lean it's just perfect. All the breakfast tacos are packed and the crispy tacos and their tostadas are the best. they're very crunchy and tasty and they're always filled with a lot of toppings like lettuce, tomato cheese, and onion. This is definitely a place you need to try if you haven't ever been here, it's always a little crowded but there's never really a wait you order your food and then you wait for them to call your number and then you go pick up your food and take it to your table. If you're in the area of San Pedro and Oblate area, I would definitely try this place out. It's amazing.

My new go to lunch spot. Friendly service and great food. The salsa bar was on point. I had the soft tacos.

Beef and chicken puffy tacos. Superb, get these!

TLDR: This is a hidden gem, go try it! My first 'puffy tacos' since moving to San Antonio! I feel like I've lost a (food) virginity, and in a most delicious way. I know that most people are fans of Henry's or Ray's Drive Inn, but I was told to skip these and visit the Taco House over on San Pedro Avenue. Turned out this was an old school Tex-Mex diner that's only open 7am-2pm. Everything from the beans/rice/tortilla to the pair of puffy tacos was delicious and made fresh to order. In fact, I had to let the puffy tacos sit for a little as they were really steaming when they came out. One was stuffed to bursting with shredded chicken, the other with ground beef. Both great, though the ground beef one really brought back some memories as it was mixed through with bits of potato. All around excellent! Definitely returning. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

I love this place. The chicken puffy tacos are my absolute favorite. The steak fajita salad use to come in a deep fried taco shell, but they've stopped doing that so I was a bit bummed. Please bring it back! They make their flour tortillas from scratch and they're fresh and freaking delicious. Parking can be a headache if you come during the weekend, if you do, I wish you luck, otherwise parking is okay during the weekdays. Always check their hours, because I've come here on a Sunday at 4 pm and they're closed already. The restaurant is a bit run down, there's only one bathroom for the men and woman so I would have to wait in line in a narrow hallway to wash my hands or use the restroom, but the food makes up for it. Food is always tasty here.

The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.
