This is a quaint Mexican restaurant that has very good food and prices for the amount of food you get

Waitress Veronica was probably best one we've had in a long time very friendly and managed multiple tables smoothly! Good crowd all families who just know the staff, no music playing but everyone talking and enjoying the company so has a great vibe! The Winnie egg is hard to mess up and they do it perfectly - sausage egg was good added the green salsa but didn't really add any flavor - the potato and egg (add ketchup) was the best from the 3 needed a little salt but overall highly recommend!

Stopped by for a late lunch. Terrific casual cafe in an older part of SA. Lively decor, very traditional colors (see photos). We were greeted immediately and had chips and an awesome red salsa within a minute. Next up complimentary borracho beans. My husband said one of the top 3 maybe top 2 boraccho beans EVER. Iced tea came out while we were reviewing menu. My husband went for the standard breakfast: eggs, sausage and huge pancakes, all very tasty. I had a chicken fajita salad, well balanced with guac and sour cream on top. Added some of their delicious salsa as a dressing. Plenty of parking in front and side of cafe. We were there at 3 pm yet there were at least 5 tables plus delivery pickups. Clearly we are not the only ones who enjoy this traditional Tex-Mex cafe.

Seat yourself. Large parking lot. Came for lunch and was not disappointed. Prices are fair, worth coming here instead of fast food if you're looking for an actual meals since there are options you can get for close to the same price. the big daddy nachos are two tostada shells split into 4 with beef beans cheese and bell peppers. On the side it comes with guacamole, sour cream and jalapeno slices. Good as an appetizer or meal. The cheese enchiladas and gusiada comes with rice and beans and is a large helping. My husband and toddler were able to share. Lots of tables inside.

Had breakfast here today and it was really good! I wasn't too hungry so I got 2 tacos. The best bean and cheese you will ever have and a country and egg that was bomb as well. They were busy so service was a little slow but not too bad since our food came out fast. Lots of seating and place was clean. They also sell sweet bread, candy, t shirts. I will definitely be returning.

Fantastic service and food. The huevos rancheros with carne guisada was outstanding! Can't wait to go back and try lunch.

We were given the option of waiting about 15 minutes for a table or sitting in the bar area, so we chose one of the high-top tables in the bar. The café itself is very cute and has a charming atmosphere. The bar area has red neon lighting along the ceiling, which gives the room a distinctive glow. After ordering coffee and waters, we decided on the fried mushrooms, the meatloaf plate, and the Breakfast Pile. They never ended up refilling any of our drinks. The fried mushrooms came out first and were piping hot. They were served with both white gravy and ranch. The ranch was pretty tasty, but the mushrooms themselves were fairly bland and quite greasy. To be fair, deep-fried mushrooms aren't exactly a light dish, but I found myself adding salt to everything to bring out more flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meatloaf contained carrots, which was an interesting touch. The slices were very thick and firm, and honestly didn't resemble or taste like a traditional meatloaf. I asked for the gravy on the side and ended up dipping each bite into it, but the dish still wasn't my favorite. The green beans were the biggest miss for me. They had a mucky flavor that reminded me of mop water. The Breakfast Pile was decent enough: potatoes, sausage, eggs, and gravy layered together. Unfortunately, it also felt underseasoned and could have benefited from more flavor. The standout item of the entire meal was the biscuit with honey butter. They initially forgot to bring the honey butter, and I'm very glad we asked for it because it completely made the dish. The biscuit was warm, soft, and by far the most enjoyable thing we ate. Overall, Mama's Café has a cute atmosphere and friendly service despite being understaffed when we visited. However, most of the food felt underseasoned and lacked flavor. If you're looking for a cozy spot to sit and chat, it's worth a visit, but based on this meal, I probably would only come back if someone said it was their favorite restaurant and I try what they order

Waiter said it was fine and that I could pull them off.... Nice. I did and revealed quite a bit of ice-burg lettuce just getting a little brown.....maybe a free specs of bacon that costs extra.....they really push it also. I won't eat here again. Besides the place needing a really good cleaning..... everything. You'd probably be amazed how must dust you are eating when the air conditioning system starts blowing. Look at the picture frames and electrical outlets with power cords, blow up the picture and see. They don't bother cleaning the table sides or menu holders......YUCK So I tried with the on duty Manager in the ASH gray tshirt who I thought at first was the Dishwasher. He was Ok the first conversation, we told him we just wanted the table to be cleaned. They complied, took them twice though. The second conversation he listened but I could tell he couldn't care less, so I looked for reasons to not to call the Health Inspector and asked him for some??? He told me to call the Managing Partner and kinda laughed then walked off. I saw this place must be owned or Managed-by Texas Roadhouse...... what a shame, this place could be great !! It is NOT. Additional note: Restrooms were filthy and unattended, used paper all over and unattended trash overflowing. I just think this is a sign of poor Management at this location. Maybe some re-training is in order ?? The single bartender was also overwhelmed. Plenty of waitstaff checking phones, group talking where they could have been helping out other areas that needed attention. This is the Culebra and Loop 410 Location. I never had a problem at 1604 and Culebra/Shaenfield Rd. Location....... I just wanted to be clear.
