Cute Italian restaurant with lots of menu choices. Outdoor seating was great and there are heaters provided in the morning hours. Pros, friendly staff, clean area. The bolognese and Caesar salad are delicious. The pizza was great and has a good kick to it. Cons, the Strozzapreti pasta needed salt and was heavy on the spinach side with little pasta. I wasn't too impressed with the Faux me twice drink due to it being tart. The bar was out the red wine we wanted, server said they didn't have WiFi but it "North Italia GUEST" pops up - asked for password and she said she didn't know and didn't follow up. Food took over 30 mins and we were told our Togo order would be coming with our food but they forgot to put it on our tab and then we had to wait an additional 15 mins. If you are coming during the weekend, I highly recommend a reservation. This a unique Italian spot with rich flavors but I think it is a little on the pricier end for a casual vibe. This North Italia is located in the Rim- a hot spot for socializing and multiple restaurants. I placed a reservation but we were able to grab seats at the bar. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered the house special Bolognese which was so good, hot and fresh. You can tell the pastas are made in house and they are so yummy. We ordered the white truffle bread to start and it was flavorful and crispy. To end I ordered an espresso martini which was well balanced and maybe one of my favorites I've had. The one dish I really didn't enjoy was the pasta... they really overcooked the gluten free pasta to the point it was falling apart. The Caesar salad was honestly one of the best I've had--super fresh with just the right amount of dressing and crunch. .I'd make it sharper, credible, and a little more memorable. Reviews that sound reasonable tend to carry more weight than reviews that sound purely angry. I rarely leave restaurant reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share it. First, my waiter was great. He was attentive, professional, and had nothing to do with the issue. I ordered the Braised Short Rib Lumache and was genuinely excited based on the description and presentation shown online. What arrived was a beautiful plate of pasta, but there was one major problem: there was barely any short rib. The dish was overwhelmingly pasta with very little of the featured ingredient that justified the price. The photos and marketing for this dish create the expectation of a hearty braised short rib pasta. What I received looked nothing like what was advertised. It felt misleading and left me wondering where the short rib actually was. The pasta itself was fine, but when you order a braised short rib dish, you expect to get braised short rib--not just pasta with a trace of it. North Italia has a great atmosphere and excellent service, but this dish was a major letdown. Hopefully management takes a closer look at consistency because the gap between expectation and reality was hard to ignore. read more

This was my second time here. This time, I came for weekday restaurant week lunch. Loved having a three course lunch for only $30. I started with the meatballs appetizer which was very hearty and savory. The meatballs were placed on a creamy polenta which was divine. For my entree, I ordered the heirloom beet and chicken salad. I was hesitant to order it because I do not like beets but it was so delicious. The beets didn't have too much of that "earthy" flavor. The salad was so beautiful and filling, I could only eat half. I finished with the guava sorbet which was very refreshing and not too sweet. The facility was very clean and spacious. My waiter, Alonzo was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely a go to for restaurant week, especially if you want to try something both healthy and delicious. From the hostess, who for some reason sets us at the farthest point, even though the restaurant is half empty, to the waitress, who's very nice, but probably new and makes multiple mistakes, to the manager who comes to correct them and promises to comp one of the dishes, but probably forgets or who knows. Last night, my long-time neighbor and friend, Michele, made reservations for us to have dinner at North Italia at The Rim to celebrate my birthday. We made it to happy hour but found out it was only at the bar area. Michele had a Malbec and I chose a well drink with cranberry, pineapple, and vodka. Michele ordered the Cacio e Pepe Arancini for us to share. I had never had arancini before and it was very good. Michele had the Chef's Board, a charcuterie of many goodies. I chose the Squid Ink Tonnarelli, which had shrimp and calamari with squid ink pasta. All the food was great and Alonzo's service was on point. For dessert, we chose the Tiramisu. Perfect ending and complimentary to celebrate my birthday! When we arrived, we were told that our party could not be seated until 5 people had arrived we gave the girl our name on the reservation told us we can wait at the bar till all party was here so we waited at the bar the reservation was at 6:30 about 6:50 we noticed our 4 friends were seated outside and it was only 4 of them after the girl told us she would not seat us till 5 people were present When I brought this issue to the manager's attention, he stated that it was a "human error." North Italia 11-24-24 10/100 Today I tried something new that I really want to highlight. Mainly because I couldn't find a single photo or review about...drum roll LUMACHE ALLA NORCINA 23 fennel sausage, rapini, grana padano crema, herb breadcrumbs, black truffle. (Menu description and price) I ordered mine with Gluten Free pasta. This dish is very unique and has a very special flavor profile. Fennel sausage-which if you don't know fennel I would not recommend trying it until you know more about this aromatic root/onion like plant. Fennel is spicy and sweet at the same time with a hint of anise to it. I absolutely love fennel and drink it as a tea also, so I was excited. Rapini-this is another unique type of broccoli that is actually bitter. Reminds me of eating arugula. Most people don't like the taste. However, the CHEF knows what they are doing here and you just have to trust the art behind this combination of flavors. It is harmoniously paired with the spicy fennel Grana Padano- I had heard of this cheese from one of my favorite movies and was so excited to see it here. It is creamy and dreamy Black Truffle- there are no words required here. I can only say WOW! This is now my favorite pasta dish. The taste and smell of these ingredient pairings is artful and balanced. The breadcrumbs on top gave it a nice texture also. So...if you like fennel and have never tried grana padano cream sauce, give this a try. It's totally worth the adventure of trying a new dish. This is an updated review as I decided to give North Italia another try and as I say, second time is the charm. We went on a Saturday with some friends and we're seated quickly and had excellent service. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us with some recommendations. The place has a very open warm feel to it and you really can't wait to sit down to eat and visit with your friends. We started with the bread service and that was very good and we also had meatballs which were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The sauce and meatballs were in was just enough and it was quite delicious. I kinda wish I didn't have to share. We also had the chicken Parm, sea scallops, and grilled chicken. This is a first time that I can say that all the dishes that we tried were Spot On! The grilled chicken was cooked to perfection. It was tender and moist, which is hard to do and with just the right amount of capers. The sea scallops were very good as well as the chicken Parm. This visit was by far much better than the first and we look forward to many more visits. read more
