He was incredibly attentive, respectful, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. I didn't love one of the dishes I ordered, and without hesitation he had it taken back, helped me choose something else, and made sure I was completely happy with the replacement. That level of care really stood out. We were also celebrating my husband's birthday, and they kindly comped dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch. The Cesar salad, the grilled artichoke, and the heirloom tomatoes burrata. The one dish I really didn't enjoy was the pasta... they really overcooked the gluten free pasta to the point it was falling apart. This North Italia is located in the Rim- a hot spot for socializing and multiple restaurants. I placed a reservation but we were able to grab seats at the bar. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered the house special Bolognese which was so good, hot and fresh. You can tell the pastas are made in house and they are so yummy. We ordered the white truffle bread to start and it was flavorful and crispy. To end I ordered an espresso martini which was well balanced and maybe one of my favorites I've had. This was my second time here. This time, I came for weekday restaurant week lunch. Loved having a three course lunch for only $30. I started with the meatballs appetizer which was very hearty and savory. The meatballs were placed on a creamy polenta which was divine. For my entree, I ordered the heirloom beet and chicken salad. I was hesitant to order it because I do not like beets but it was so delicious. The beets didn't have too much of that "earthy" flavor. The salad was so beautiful and filling, I could only eat half. I finished with the guava sorbet which was very refreshing and not too sweet. The facility was very clean and spacious. My waiter, Alonzo was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely a go to for restaurant week, especially if you want to try something both healthy and delicious. It was a busy Friday night, so I'm going to give the service a pass but it was friendly and overall okay. The vibes are very cute and ambiance was chill and familiar. Now...the food. The food was not super amazingly good for the price. I went basic with the spicy vodka pasta (in my opinion it's hard to mess it up) but I feel like I could make a better pasta in my house and the pasta was hard. Not al dente. It was hard. we also ordered the spicy broccolini and they brought us temperate hard broccoli sticks, so don't get that. the calamari though was brutally delicious 10 out of 10. North Italia 11-24-24 10/100 Today I tried something new that I really want to highlight. Mainly because I couldn't find a single photo or review about...drum roll LUMACHE ALLA NORCINA 23 fennel sausage, rapini, grana padano crema, herb breadcrumbs, black truffle. (Menu description and price) I ordered mine with Gluten Free pasta. This dish is very unique and has a very special flavor profile. Fennel sausage-which if you don't know fennel I would not recommend trying it until you know more about this aromatic root/onion like plant. Fennel is spicy and sweet at the same time with a hint of anise to it. I absolutely love fennel and drink it as a tea also, so I was excited. Rapini-this is another unique type of broccoli that is actually bitter. Reminds me of eating arugula. Most people don't like the taste. However, the CHEF knows what they are doing here and you just have to trust the art behind this combination of flavors. It is harmoniously paired with the spicy fennel Grana Padano- I had heard of this cheese from one of my favorite movies and was so excited to see it here. It is creamy and dreamy Black Truffle- there are no words required here. I can only say WOW! This is now my favorite pasta dish. The taste and smell of these ingredient pairings is artful and balanced. The breadcrumbs on top gave it a nice texture also. So...if you like fennel and have never tried grana padano cream sauce, give this a try. It's totally worth the adventure of trying a new dish. This is an updated review as I decided to give North Italia another try and as I say, second time is the charm. We went on a Saturday with some friends and we're seated quickly and had excellent service. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us with some recommendations. The place has a very open warm feel to it and you really can't wait to sit down to eat and visit with your friends. We started with the bread service and that was very good and we also had meatballs which were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The sauce and meatballs were in was just enough and it was quite delicious. I kinda wish I didn't have to share. We also had the chicken Parm, sea scallops, and grilled chicken. This is a first time that I can say that all the dishes that we tried were Spot On! The grilled chicken was cooked to perfection. It was tender and moist, which is hard to do and with just the right amount of capers. The sea scallops were very good as well as the chicken Parm. Last night, my long-time neighbor and friend, Michele, made reservations for us to have dinner at North Italia at The Rim to celebrate my birthday. We made it to happy hour but found out it was only at the bar area. Michele had a Malbec and I chose a well drink with cranberry, pineapple, and vodka. Michele ordered the Cacio e Pepe Arancini for us to share. I had never had arancini before and it was very good. Michele had the Chef's Board, a charcuterie of many goodies. I chose the Squid Ink Tonnarelli, which had shrimp and calamari with squid ink pasta. All the food was great and Alonzo's service was on point. For dessert, we chose the Tiramisu. Perfect ending and complimentary to celebrate my birthday! LOCATION: North Italia is located in a fantastic part of the Rim at 1604 and IH-10. It's right behind a beautiful hang out spot with turf, chairs, tables, and an ice cream shop called Lick. Also, North Italia is within walking distance to Rock and Rye, Bowl and Barrel, and the Palladium move theater. FOOD: My fiancé and I usually start with bread, her preferring the grilled bread with olive oil and I the truffle garlic bread. Both are good, but come with only 4 pieces so you'll need multiple orders for bigger parties OR if you're a bit hungry. We love to get the Margherita pizza and the chicken pesto pasta (pictured). For the pizza, Margherita is pretty basic, but here, the cheese, sauce, and crust is all perfect. I'm huge on the crust, and it totally hits the spot. Just enough herbs, garlic etc. as well as a perfect texture in my eyes. I also adore the crushed meatball ragú, although since we don't eat pork, I substitute the porchetta with another meatball! Many Italian places serve very similar food, but North Italia incorporates unique spices and dishes into their menu to stand out. DRINKS: The wine selection is nice here. We've enjoyed the Valravn Pinot Noir and the Edna Valley Chardonnay. I'm a bit more into cocktails, and most I've had are great. I especially enjoy the white lotus which is right up my alley, being a mix of sweet and citrusy. SERVICE: Been here many times and am always satisfied with service.
