The pizza isn't terrible, but it didn't impress either. I tried four slices: Sweet Gino, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Purple Potato, and the Wiseguy. Of the four, the Sweet Gino was my favorite. The others tasted heavily processed, with rubbery cheese and toppings that didn't seem as fresh as I expected. The crust leans on the thicker side, which may appeal to some people, but I personally prefer a thin, European-style pizza made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Parking is a bit tough here. There were no spots outfront but we found a spot on the street over behind the restaurant. We placed an order ahead for the Meatlovers detroit style pizza. It said it would take ~35 mins to make after placing the order. This pizza was good and the slices are huge. One whole pie is 4 slices. I feel like they could cut it up into more pieces. Apparently although Slice House is new to Millbrae, it is not a new franchise as I've learned. They have dozens of locations across the US. This location is on the outskirts of downtown Millbrae and faces El Camino Real, so if you're in the area often enough, you will probably either casually drive by or walk by the front of Slice House. For my first visit to Slice House a few months ago, I just had one slice of their Hot Honey pizza, which has pepperoni, sausage and house made hot honey. It was absolutely delicious to the point where I asked myself why haven't I gone to a Slice House before this. There are a small handful of tables and some seating in front of the window. I noticed a lot of people were getting their Slices to go or picking up to go. I will certainly be back to try more of their creations soon. read more

Two things would make this pizza better: Friendlier staff and less salty pizza. I don't mind thick crust, but I got the thin crust instead-- the crust here is okay, the tomato sauce and pepperoni is super salty though. I don't eat the crust unless it's super tasty and I wound up not eating this crust and just eating the slice with the salty toppings. Staff seemed like they were distracted. They kept talking amongst each other and there was no one in front of me or behind me. So service was slow on their own terms. I went on a non busy day and time. We decided to try this place because it's new, and we love pizza. The first thing I noticed on the menu was that many of the pizzas include pork. Since we don't eat pork, that immediately limited our choices. A few of the pizzas sounded really delicious. For example, the BBQ chicken with pineapple, but it also came with bacon. I'm sure many people enjoy that combination, but it would be nice to have more pizzas without pork. In the end, we ordered the burrata and pesto pizza. The portion size was generous, and the pizza itself looked beautiful. It was tasty, but it wasn't really our style. We prefer thinner crusts, so this one felt a bit too heavy. A good sign for me is whether my husband finishes the whole pizza (he usually does) but this time he didn't, and I ended up eating the leftovers the next day. He told me he didn't like it felt sweet. The price also felt a little high for what we got. One thing I didn't like was the interior of the place. The space felt cramped, and I found the layout a bit confusing when picking up our order. It just didn't feel very welcoming. Overall, I'm glad we gave it a try. If you eat pork, you'll probably have many more interesting options on the menu and may enjoy it much more than we did. If you don't eat pork or prefer thinner-crust pizza, there are other pizza places that might be a better fit. Meh. Everyone hyped this place up so much and it did not meet the standards. I've tried it 3 times now, so this review is credible. The first time, I got a hot honey pizza right out of the oven, and when I opened it up, it was a thick crust, although I ordered thin. The crust needed a big, long bite just to chew, which is not enjoyable. Bad bad bad experience the first time. 4.1/10. So I gave it another shot! I thought I just got a faulty pizza due to it not being thin crust, so I had to get a thin (depicted). This one was a lot better. It had a little crunch, but still super floppy with an okay under carriage (Dave Portnoy style lol). Nothing great, but a lot better than the first time. 6.4/10. I went back last week - since I didn't get any meat on the last pizza, I wanted to see how the carnivore slice was. The slice had barely to no sauce and cheese on it, which was weird for a more premium slice of pizza. The sausage and pepperoni tasted really good, but it just felt like I was eating bread with meat on it. I also tried a vegetarian slice although I am not vegan, to prove that I tried everything!!! It was alright all of the slices have no sauce and skimpy on the cheese. 5.7/10. The inside was very cool with paintings of Steph and the Godfather (depicted). It is nice to see yet another new pizza place open up in Millbrae, especially in the downtown Millbrae area. As expected in the area, parking can be hit or miss. The inside of the restaurant is decently sized with a good amount of tables available for those who would like to dine there. Slice House is a bit unique in the sense that it offers multiple styles of pizza, including New York, Detroit, Grandma, and Sicilian. I ordered the Motorhead on Sicilian since I was intrigued by the focaccia-like crust. The Motorhead includes tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, mushrooms, pepperoni, applewood smoked bacon, Italian sausage, ricotta, and basil. Since I don't like how pepperoni usually makes the pizza oilier, I hoped to substitute the pepperoni with extra Italian sausage. However, I was told that I am able to remove toppings but cannot substitute; if I wanted to make this change I would need to pay an extra $5 to add Italian sausage even after removing pepperoni in order to "respect the craft." After looking at the menu, I realized there is no way to create your own pizza from scratch by choosing specific toppings of your choice. The pizza was quoted to be ready in 45 minutes, which seemed quite long relative to quoted wait times from other pizza spots; fortunately I ordered ahead. The Sicilian is advertised to be 11" x 17" but didn't really look too big in person for some reason. The whole Sicilian pizza only provided six large squarish slices. I enjoyed the focaccia-like pizza dough although others felt it was too bready. The dough was also a tad oily even after not including pepperoni. I felt the amount of toppings per slice was adequate and overall tasted good on the Sicilian. Overall, I did enjoy my first pizza from Slice House, although it was a bit pricier than I was expecting. I hope that in the future they could add the option to choose your own toppings or at least allow you to swap out toppings since most of their menu offerings have pepperoni which I do not care for. Been here a few times now and the pizza is consistently great. They offer a wide variety of daily slices, which I love for quick visits. The pepperoni is one of my favorites, they use the small ones and are generous with it, which makes every bite so good. They also have Sweet Gino's, which is another favorite of mine. We've also tried the Wiseguy and the buffalo wings, and everything has been solid so far. Customer service has always been good. The space itself is on the smaller side, but they do have outdoor seating available. There's a public parking lot nearby along with street parking, which makes it pretty convenient. Pricing feels fair for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, really glad they opened this location -- we used to drive out to the Belmont one, so this is a great addition for us. read more

There is a really good selection of delicious pizza and on certain days they have specialty pizzas made. Make sure you come in on Saturday for the pepperoni and hot honey slice. The place is a little small, but if you're lucky you'll get a seat. Other than that, call in an order, stop by and take your stuff home. My first visit and I was really excited to get pizza from them since I moved out of the city over 5 years ago. First, the service wasn't great. The guy barely held back a sigh as he took my order. When my order was ready, he didn't even look at me when he handed me my pizza, just continued talking to his coworker. Didn't respond to my "thank you" either. It's not like it was busy when I visited either (4 people in the restaurant, not counting employees). Second, they were extremely stingy with toppings. I got a medium pepperoni. The Detroit and Grandma slices were excellent. I wouldn't have tried this place because the pricing is higher than I normally pay for pizza. It's on par with other places that sell Detroit style, but that whole market is typically more than I spend. But their rewards program gives a welcome coupon, and on your birthday, you get a free slice. I'm glad I tried it out, because now I know what I've been missing, and have been back twice since then. While I think I slightly prefer Pizza My Heart's crust to Slice House's "NY Style" pizzas, I definitely prefer Slice House/s other offerings over PMH's single style. Every day, they have a NY style daily special, and a Detroit Style daily special. We had the Little Italy daily Detroit-style special. We also had the Hot Ron and Cheese of the NY style, and one of the grandma style with tomato, mozz, and basil. One slight bummer was that when I tried to use a $5 coupon, I didn't realize until after my card went through that the coupon wasn't applied, since it had a $15 min purchase requirement. I asked if I could cancel and place the order again with an additional slice to hit that min purchase. They said they couldn't cancel an order that was already sent to the kitchen. So then I ended up buying two more, which ended up being too much pizza, and we regretted getting so much. Kind of a bummer that they weren't able to cancel a single slice order even though I had never even left the counter. But the place is clean (which I would hope, since they are new), and the staff was efficient and nice without being overly "fake" friendly. The seating area is small. They give you a number for your table and then they bring you the food when it's ready. Limited space, but they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Pizza is the main attraction (they also sell meatballs, garlic, bread, chicken, wings, and sausage) and you can buy by slice or by whole pizza. LFG!! So stoked this place is finally open. We've been big fans of Tony's pizza for years, primarily having dozens of slices at Oracle Park every season. So while we've eaten a lot of Tony's, we've been relatively limited in the types and styles of pizzas we've tried. Needless to say, we were ecstatic to see that Slice House was coming to Millbrae. I had the pleasure of attending the first day of the Grand Opening weekend. I had no idea what to expect, so I got there way too early; they were still hanging the sign when I parked. I didn't want to awkwardly hover, so I waited for the first group to get in line and then hopped in behind them. They had a table out front with some cheese and prosciutto samples, which was a nice way to warm up. Right before the doors opened, they went down the line and gave out raffle tickets and free Slice House hats to the first 50 people. There was someone greeting folks at the front door, and the owner, Ron, was down by the pizza display explaining everything to people as they approached. It was super helpful to have him point out the different flavors, Daily Specials, and types of crust available. FOOD: There are a ton of pizza combos, so it's helpful to scope the menu and have an idea of what you want if you're getting a whole pie. If you're getting slices, you're pretty much limited to what they have in the case at the time. For the Daily Specials, they have a different New York style and Detroit style slice each day of the week. If you want something a little fancier than the more standard slice options, definitely check the Specials menu and go on that specific day. If you're feeling Italian, but not necessarily pizza, they also have pasta! There's fresh Gemelli pasta with vodka cream, alfredo, or pesto sauce, Bucatini with alfredo or meat sauce, and even plain pasta (Bucatini noodles). If salad is your thing, they have a Caesar Salad, Bacon Arugula Salad, House Craft Salad, and Caprese Salad. There are a few Antipasti starter options such as Meatballs, Sweet & Spicy Italian Sausage, Wings, Garlic Bread, Cheesy Garlic Bread, and a Meatball Sub. For dessert, they have Freshly Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies, Spumoni, Cannoli, Buddy V's Rainbow Cake, and Gelato from Leo! Leo! DRINKS: They have several options to wet your whistle. They have a self-serve fountain soda machine with Pepsi products (Pepsi, Diet / Zero Sugar, Wild Cherry, Starry, Crush, Mug, Dr. Pepper, Tropicana Lemonade, and Lipton Iced Tea). To the right of that, they had a fresh mango lemonade drink that is straight up delicious. It's not too tart, not too sweet, and the mango flavor is delectable. Behind the counter there's a cooler with some bottled sodas (Mexican Coke), beers, and other drinks. For the 21+ folks, there are around 4 beers on tap and the option to buy half bottles of a few wines. You can also get apple juice, sparkling / bottled water, Boylan soda, and Red Bull. PARKING: This can be hit-or-miss depending on the day and time. Parking is generally free if you can find a space out front or on the surrounding blocks. OVERALL: The pizza here is honestly some of the best I've had. It's fresh, authentic, incredibly flavorful, and the slices are HUGE. I've now been twice already (both times on Saturday - only somewhat on purpose since the Saturday Specials were bomb). The first time for the Grand Opening, I came solo and got one of each special: Hot Honey (NY) & Motorhead (Detroit). The second time I came with the wifey and we got both Daily Specials, plus a slice of the Sweet Gino since neither of us had ever tried the Grandma Style with sweet sauce. It was simple, unique, tasty, and I'm happy I tried it. However, I will say it's hard for me to get away from the pepperoni here. They use the small cup and crisp ones that curl up and collect all the delicious grease when they cook... which are objectively the best kind. The Motorhead Detroit style is next level. This slice is THICC and loaded with sauce and toppings, while the edges are perfectly cheesy and crispy. Of the sauces I've tried, both the ranch and the vodka sauce were good. The sides of vodka sauce come cold, and were extra good warmed up in the microwave at home. The dining space inside is small with only 3 tables, and a bar seating area that looks out onto the sidewalk out front. The one complaint I have would be that there is only one way in and one way out. Meaning after people get their food and/or eat, they have to walk up past all the people waiting in line to get to the exit. I noticed several traffic jams in the short amount of time we were there. We are super jazzed about this location, and are looking forward to coming back to eventually try all of the Daily Specials. A convenient place to come to if you're looking for a quick bite to eat - they have premade pizza that you can buy by the slice here and each slide is a generous portion - the size of almost two standard slices. They will quickly heat up your slice in their oven and bring it out to you so it's nice and hot. The pizza was decent - I didn't care as much for the specialty white sauce one I got, but the traditional was a Chicago style thick crust that was nice and crunchy with a good ratio of cheese and sauce on top to balance it out. We were so excited to hear that Slice House opened in Millbrae. We found street parking around the corner. The restaurant is quite small with a few tables inside and outside. It can get very crowded and sucks that there's only one way to get in and out. (People were squeezing by the ordering line to pick up their orders) Everyone working was hustling and got orders out as quickly as possible. They give you a beeper to notify you when your order is ready. The Hot Ron and Wise Guy were delicious. A bit greasy, but flavorful. I don't usually eat the pizza crust, but this was yummy- especially dipped in Caesar dressing. Caesar salad was good- fresh romaine with cheese, thin croutons and Caesar dressing. Kid-approved! What I would avoid ordering is the Gemelli with Vodka Sauce. Pasta was very undercooked and the shape of it wasn't enjoyable. I was expecting a corkscrew type pasta. Happen to be the "appointed" Door Dash guy for pizza and some Hainan chicken which was another restaurant around the corner from Slice House. This place is tiny and not fond of the pathway as you will find you backtrack the same way you come in due to the rails that they have up. Other than that my to go order were for two different slices of pizza along with my order of the medium size Little Italy. Solid 4 but not the best pizza that I have ever had (nothing beats eating a slice of pie in Rome) but all things considered it was pretty good. I'm still partial to my Toto's in San Bruno or Pasquales in the Inner Sunset . Not sure if they offer alcohol here but if I come back I would probably eating outside on a nice sunny day as they have some seating on the sidewalk. Just recently discovered this location in Millbrae, while getting my oil change across the street. Tony's pizza was always a treat in the city. Miss the one near the ballpark. Love that they offer slices, which makes it a great spot for a quick lunch. I've tried the Hot Ron and loved the sweet peppers and ricotta for balance. Second place goes to the Picante, very bright and zesty. I even like the slices with white sauce, not too heavy. Their pizza crust is airy with a great chew. Pizzas tend to run on the greasier side, but that's not a deal breaker. Slices have a generous size so you'll feel nice and full after the first. Service is fast and friendly, and bathrooms are clean. Wish they'd let us sample the hot oil to try on our pizza but they only sell it in bottles. Also wish they'd rotate more variety to choose from for slices. Street parking can be challenging depending on time of day. Overall, highly recommend to try if you're in Millbrae. read more

Super yummy, not too spicy. Slices are huge! I have a five-year-old and so often he just wants one slice of cheese pizza. Now I can go somewhere close to get one slice of cheese pizza. They even have thicc Detroit style, grandma style, and Sicilian style pizza. You can order full pizzas, too. Lots of options, toppings, flavors combinations. Sweet, spicy, traditional. Weekday specials, meatball Mondays. Something for everyone. Starters, pasta, pizza, salads. Bucatini is my favorite pasta. It hits all the notes. Spicy kick at the end. The good thing about this place is that you can order by single slices rather than buying a whole pizza! We got: -the Hot Ron: severely disappointed. The line wasn't super crazy and moved quickly even though there was a steady stream of folks coming through the door. Not many tables for larger groups - I think there were about 5-6 small tables in the middle of the restaurant and then some counter height tables/seating near the window. This spot is probably better for grab and go, or maybe small groups/couples. Pizza was sooo good! I got the cheese slice and wiseguy slice. I love ricotta on pizza in general so the flavors were reallly good. My son really enjoyed the cheese slice. My husband said it might be the best pizza he's ever had..and he doesn't even LIKE pizza. Very excited for this spot to have opened in Millbrae and so conveniently located. Hot day = zero patience for cooking or anything fancy, so Slice House by Tony was the easy call. I like that you don't have to order a whole pizza - they have a variety of slices to choose from. The real struggle? Picking just ONE slice out of nine! The slices are huge - equivalent to 2 slices and prices range from $6.75 -$8.50! They have the Everyday Slices - Cheese, Pepperoni, Tomato Pie, Wise Guy , Sweet Gino, Traditional Sicilian and Different Daily Specials 7 Days a week! I went with the Sicilian traditional--warmed up to perfection. Fresh, focaccia style bread, rich tomato sauce, and that pepperoni hit just right. The staff seemed more friendly and relaxed now that they are in the groove from the wild and crazy opening weeks. They added additional tables in front which is nice as there is limited seating inside . Simple. Satisfying. Exactly what I craved and needed. Been here twice already to pick up lunch from the office. I love that they have a display area of their weekly rotation! I've tried their NY style and grandma pizzas. Their NY slices have a nice chew to them and their insanely delicious red sauce! Whatever is in that - bottle it up! Parking is available on the street only, although there's a parking lot a block away. I've tried just a plain cheese NY and the sweet gino. I find that the grandma's crust is a bit denser but I appreciate a sweeter and tangier sauce on it. I really hate writing a negative review for someone who works in the industry but unfortunately the lack of common sense. Good product but bad service. I went there at 5pm and saw 2 whole pies (sausage & pepperoni) in the window. I said can I just buy that whole pie room temp. He said no, I have to charge you per slice (extra $12++). I asked are you going to sell the 2 whole pies in 20 minutes for them to make me a fresh pie, he said probably not... I was willing to buy a room temperature whole pie and don't understand. As I mentioned, good product and bad common sense and customer service. When I picked up pie 20 minutes later, the 2 whole pies were intact. read more

I was really looking forward to stopping by Slice House in Millbrae to grab a slice of pizza after putting my kids to bed. Unfortunately, when I arrived around 7:30 p.m., there were only two slices left, and they both looked like they'd been sitting out for quite a while. It was really disappointing, especially for a place that's known for selling pizza by the slice. If you're hoping to grab a fresh slice in the evening, I wouldn't recommend making the trip. I'd suggest going somewhere else where you can get a fresh pizza instead. Also the servers did not care, horrible customer service after my disappointment. read more

Was super excited when this place was being built, finally decent pizza coming to Millbrae. After trying a couple times, I'd say it met my original expectation of decent pizza but I wouldn't go so far as to saying great pizza. Both times I tried to re-live my NY reheated pizza experience and my only real complaint is the price. $2.50 - $5 a slice for re-heated pizza is the norm in high rent Manhattan, $8.50+ per slice here as of this posting. Bit rich for my California taxed budget, but sure others don't mind the price. The staff is nice as well dressed, and the space is nicely built out for a small retail storefront. I admit I did not try to have my own pizza made, which likely tastes better than reheated pizza from the window - just no affordable options for a single person. I absolutely love Slice House honestly, my only complaint is that I can't physically eat more of it in one sitting. The pizza is that good. You'll definitely be seeing me back (probably more often than I should admit). Only knock is the limited space, I wish there was a little more room to lounge and fully commit to my pizza decisions. But let's be real... I'd happily eat this standing in a parking lot. Not a dealbreaker at all. read more

Slice House by Tony Gemignani - Pizza Near Me - Millbrae, California

It was good to see how the soft opening made the street roar. I went on day three at 4:15 PM & hardly had to wait to order two slices. Had to toss my own garbage, but couldn't find the trash bins. Finally found them, behind people waiting for their pizza near the window. maybe a better place that's more visible? By 5 o'clock, the line went out the door. Hooray I thought! It was a little tricky exiting though, because the line coming in was blocking the people leaving. Saw another couple larger trash bins behind those people. Not sure how that's going to work its way out, but all in all, congratulations to a non-Asian restaurant coming into Millbrae. read more
