    12" Longanisa Pizza
    Chastity V.

Came here to try their unique pizzas, specifically the Filipino-inspired ones, and they did not disappoint! The Ube pizza (5/5) has delicious dollops of Ube ricotta, and was my favorite. I also loved the Longanisa pizza, which tasted like a tasty Filipino breakfast served in pizza form. Service was friendly. Plenty of seating in a casual sit down dining room. Pizza came out in a reasonable amount of time. Will be back for more pizza!

Came here for a pizza party and I thought everything was just okay. Definitely give them a plus for having such unique pizza flavors though! For example, they had durian, ube, and longanisa pizza. The ube one was pretty good. I felt that all the pizzas ran in the oily side and the toppings felt very skimpy too. I also tried the bbq & maple chili wings. These were solid. It wasn't necessarily that the food was bad, but there just wasn't any item here that made me want to come back per se. Fav was the maple chili wings & the pepperoni pizza with jalapeños on top. Great service given how large of a party we were. They were working really hard to get all the orders out. Place is great to watch the game (we watched the Knicks win here!). They have a bar and serve beer, and a very casual spot overall.

We came here on a Friday night, and it was extremely busy due to a large group that appeared to be a kids' sports team along with their parents. Unfortunately, the atmosphere wasn't very enjoyable because it was very loud, and the dining area felt cramped with the small tables. We ordered two pizzas and a tornado potato, and our total came to around $90 after tax and tip. We were a party of four plus a baby, and the gratuity was automatically included. That caught us by surprise since we weren't a particularly large group, although perhaps the baby was included in the headcount. The food was good, but we felt the pizzas were a bit pricey for their size. Service was also bad. The older woman serving tables, who I assume may be one of the owners, seemed more focused on chatting with other tables while we had to ask multiple times just to get water. We ended up feeling overlooked throughout the meal. Overall, the pizzas was good, but between the noisy atmosphere, pricing, and service, it wasn't a place we'd be eager to return to. Maybe if we were in the area and it wasn't crowded.

Longanisa with a good spread of garlic and Longanisa sausage. The vinegar really brought it up a notch.

We stopped in today after a morning at the ball park. We were promptly greeted by the owner (I believe) and seated. The business is clean and has a welcoming environment. We ordered the Longanisa and Ube pizza. Our order came out quickly and we were served some fresh, hot pizza. Both pizzas were beautifully presented and had their own unique feature. Overall I think our family enjoyed the longanisa slightly more than the ube. The longanisa was balanced in taste with a hint of sweetness. The crust was perfect and the spread of toppings did not disappoint. We're so happy we got to stop by and look forward to bringing our family and friends to try!

Bbq chicken, so bland and sparse on toppings
    Abbie C.

So bland, the amount of chicken and red onions was so sparse. To top it off the bbq drizzle was so light. The dough and crust had no depth in flavor and was so dry and thin. For $26.25 the quality, size, and flavor was a complete miss.

If you love clams, and you love garlic, the garlic clam flatbread pizza is to die for! If you've ever had a pineapple softy from Hawaii's dole pineapple plantation or at the Disneyland tiki juice Bar without getting on a plane! Enjoy one at Modern Eats or even an Ube softy!

Dropped by here for dinner Friday night & unsure how we feel? First off, we love supporting local businesses & we've walked by this spot so many times, we decided it was time to give it a try. They have really good reviews so we were excited to try it. When we walked in, a family of 5 or 6 had just been seated and the server (whom we presume is the owner) was walking to the back to bring water to this table and didn't see us so we just grabbed a menu and seated ourselves. When she did notice us, she greeted us and brought us water, super friendly and welcoming. I didn't see any other patrons come in besides us and the other family so was a little sad to see they weren't getting much business. The space is well lit, clean and has tons of TVs around so great for catching a game or catching up with friends. We ordered a 14" PMS pizza and bbq wings. The wings were decent and I am interested to try the Louisiana hot wings next time. Pipping hot & smelled really good, definitely had a tangy bbq flavor. The pizza was okay honestly. My fiancé read some reviews that said it tasted like frozen pizza or that the dough felt premade. I did like the thin crust BUT I will say, looking at the dough it did seem a little TOO perfect. Fiancé wasn't a fan of the thin crust and how crispy it was, he said it felt like he was eating a cracker lol. He also tried to take a peek to see if the cook was making fresh dough but didn't see any action. The toppings seemed fresh though. We had half a pizza left over because between the 2 of us, 14" is quite big. We originally wanted to order the 8" but she told us it's small and that it might not be enough food for us. Now cut to today, we reheated the other half of the pizza for dinner and I have to say it tasted a lot like reheated frozen pizza. Echoing some other reviews, it could be very beneficial for them to bring in a pizza specialist to help get the ball rolling. We also really want to see this place succeed. Especially with Slice House opening up a few blocks away. Rooting for you guys & hope to see some improvements when we return!

Modern Eats fish and chips is so delicious. Their PMS (pepperoni, mushroom, sausage) is my favorite. PMS pizza is my favorite. Now, they have added a bit of Taiwanese flavor desserts. Cindy and Matt are my two favorite servers, friendly, big smile and warm. Very bright pizzeria with sports TV to enjoy your food.

The service and ambiance were excellent with no complaints. The pies were beautifully presented and each had an unique flavor and personality that made Modern Eats a standout eatery.

Though the garlic flavor infused into the fries, but the rough chopped raw garlic is a bit too sharp for my taste. I would probably try the truffle fries at least once though. And the one in house option was NOT something I typically drink, but you know I had to try and support. The food was good! Mango Habanero Wings - Dry, but with decent flavors. In summary, come for the burgers and fries unless they can do a better job brewing! Ambiance - Brewery warehouse setting. Semi open kitchen. Small parking lot, but I was lucky and got a very good space. Kid and dog friendly. Clean bathrooms with outside sinks, thank you. Pinball machine row, see pictures. Plenty of indoor and outdoor picnic style seating. Open 6 days a week from noon until 8pm or 9pm. Closed Mondays. Events, see their website. Service - Counter service. Water and utensils self service. I even had to go back up to get "to-go" containers. The first guy was not very welcoming. The second guy with the longer hair was slightly better. Then the second long hair guy started bussing and cleaning tables was more personable. Price - $118; expensive for what we got. Next time I will just come for the food. A more generous tip than earned or deserved. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 2012 and at this location since 2017. Good luck.

I think the restaurant could have made up for this if they added bread and butter and perhaps a salad. Walked into what is clearly a local institution - the kind of place where regulars know the staff's kids' names. Weekday evening crowd skewed silver-haired, which in my experience is always a good omen. These people have been eating out for decades - they know where the bodies are buried and where the good food is. Server was legitimately excellent. Paced the order so apps didn't collide with entrees - a simple move that most places fumble. Checked in without hovering. Knew the menu cold. Then this happened: I asked for a Pliney. He asked, "Elder or Younger?" That's when I had to pause. In all my years of ordering Plineys, no one has ever asked me that. Because no one has ever randomly had Pliney the Younger on tap. These guys did - apparently a locally advertised special that had been going on that day. They had a Keg of this rare stuff, and it was depleting quickly. I got the Younger on repeat till I was barely stumbling out of the place. Life is good. Ordered the Cheesesteak and it was legit - not playing around. The family went burgers, hot dogs, and wings. Dear Daniel Jones and Management Team, I am writing to bring a serious customer service issue to your attention that occurred at your establishment tonight, Saturday, June 13, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Earlier in the day, at 2:19 p.m., I called the pub to verify if the Giants game could be shown, knowing the NBA Finals would also be broadcasting tonight. The male employee who answered the phone graciously assured me, "We can put anything on that anybody wants." Relying on that promise, I came in later that evening. When I arrived around 7:00 p.m., I initially asked a male staff member to help change one of the screens to the Giants game. He was unsure how to operate the system, so I turned to the female bartender working behind the bar. When I asked if she could accommodate the game, she dismissively replied, "It's the NBA Finals." When I explained that I had called ahead and been told a TV could be accommodated, she flatly told me, "Nobody told you that," essentially calling me a liar. When I challenged her on this, she doubled down and repeated, "No, but nobody told you that." (Please note: I did not have my phone log open during the argument to give her the exact time, but I have since verified it was 2:19 p.m.). Fortunately, the male staff member stepped in to circumvent her hostility and successfully put the game on for me. However, her confrontational, rude, and accusatory behavior completely ruined the experience. I do not have her name, but she is a Caucasian woman, likely in her mid-to-late 40s, with dirty blonde hair, and she was working directly behind the bar at 7:00 p.m. tonight. As a business management team, I know you value your reputation. This is not how paying customers should be treated when simply following up on an agreement made by your own staff. I expect this matter to be addressed with the employee in question, and I look forward to hearing how this will be resolved.

I'm also always on the lookout for great spots for a girls' night out, especially ones with a unique wine list and a vibe that welcomes conversation over a special (even expensive) bottle. There's a lot of potential here. The wine selection was interesting -- definitely not your typical grocery store picks -- and the Japanese sake selection stood out, which was a nice surprise. That said, our experience could have been much better. When we walked in, it wasn't clear what the concept of the space was: a wine shop? Cheese store? Soft serve bar? Wine tasting room? A little clarity or signage could help. More importantly, there was no greeting at all. Three staff members were visible -- one talking to guests at the bar, the other two chatting with each other. Despite us walking around for a solid five minutes, no one made eye contact, acknowledged us, or offered a welcome. That lack of basic hospitality unfortunately left a negative impression. At any place that depends on customer interest -- be it a restaurant, wine bar, shop, or tasting room -- hospitality is everything. A simple hello, eye contact, or "let us know if you have any questions" goes a long way. Even better would have been a brief introduction to the wine program, the soft serve, or how tastings work. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving without the matcha soft serve or a bottle of wine -- and both were things we came in specifically to try and purchase. We didn't even get noticed, as if we never came through the doors. We genuinely want this business to do well. If the staff can be trained to lead with warmth and curiosity, we believe people will not only return but also tell their friends -- just like we would have. That kind of word-of-mouth builds loyal followings, especially in local neighborhoods. We hope to come back soon and see those small but essential improvements. You've got something special here -- now just add the welcome.

One of the things that happened when I visited this bar was I asked for a simple lemonade. The reason was because I had a soccer game the next day and I didn't want to drink alcohol and I wanted to get some electrolytes in me. It would have been very simple for the bartender to just say, "I'm sorry we don't serve lemonade." Instead what he did is say I worked here 20 years and he never served lemonade and then kept scoffing at me. He kept saying this three times, walking back and forth, up until the point the patron next to me even said, "Don't worry about him." After that without even me talking to him, he said, "Who orders lemonade at an Irish pub?" Then without me saying anything, he said, "No one orders lemonade at an Irish pub." I was honestly just trying to get a drink and he made me feel very dumb. Overall if a patron asks you for a drink, it's very easy just to say, "I'm sorry we can't do that," but he kept making me feel like an idiot. I was also surprised they did not serve lemonade; that's a very simple request. He didn't offer any alternatives except for 7-Up, which I didn't really want but paid for anyway. I ended up not drinking it even after I paid for it and leaving the bar. I guess the bartender got what he wanted. He gave me a drink that was other than lemonade; he made me pay for it and I just left the bar unhappy. I would highly recommend against visiting this establishment, especially with the grumpy bartender. He is an older white Irish guy. I understand they might have your own customers at the bar but I think it costs nothing to treat patrons with respect and not tell them that they're stupid for asking for a drink. This place almost knocked me out a few weeks ago! I mean literally. I got hit by the shade. But you…read moreknow it was an accident and the owner was so gracious and took care of our table. I have been back now 3 times in the last three weeks. Food selection is plentiful, it has all been delicious, fresh and hot! Restaurant staff are attentive, kind and all smiles. Pretty quiet inside though! Hope to give them some love and get a few people to get back in and try them out again. Hash and Brews is a great place for a quick bite to eat with family and friends.

I'm honestly sorry to have to give Hashes and Brews a poor rating, as I'm generally a lot more…read moreforgiving for non-chain restaurants and diners, but eating there just wasn't a good experience. Let's start with the food. My partner and I had the Mexican Hash and Elvis pancakes, respectively. My partner (who is Mexican) was not impressed by the hash, and said it didn't taste very authentic. I enjoyed the Elvis pancakes--named for the fact that they're made with peanut butter, honey, and bananas. The flavor profile was good, but the pancakes were chewy and dry. I enjoyed the flavors, which is the only reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1. Beyond that, the service was not great. Our table was dirty and while the server said she would come clean it for us, she never did. The table only had one set of silverware and I was never brought any during our meal, I had to grab them off of an adjacent table. We were not given water, or asked if we wanted any, and our server checked in on us so infrequently that we had to flag down a different one just to ask for water. The prices were fine. Nothing unusual for the Bay Area, so that was a bonus at least, but there's no way I'm ever going back.
