I obviously went and looked for a second opinion And alas my intuition was correct I in fact did not need all this work and They were Also trying to push a $1600 deep clean on me, in which the new place I went to said I absolutely did not need a deep clean. They calmed me down and looked over all of my x-rays and were a bit confused by the original quote from David. needless to say I walked out with a 4k quote for crowns and a few fillings that needed to be replaced. Dr. Slaughter and his staff are nothing but class. I've gotten some minor work done at his office--and yet they treated me as if I were spending thousands of dollars on treatment with them. He even shared his personal cell number to call him In, were I to need it. I have been a patient here for over fifteen years and before this date there were several people who worked here like Patti the front receptionist who was the Best most welcoming person I have ever met. And, Ellie who is the most professional dental hygienist I have ever worked with, it was my pleasure to be associated with them. But, unfortunately they have since retired and the new crew is well not the best, they try. Recently I had an appointment for a procedure and I called to cancel four days before and they had they sent me a text message that said I would be charged $150 for missing the appointment. Needless to say I was unhappy because I spent many years developing a relationship with this doctor and I was treated like a nobody. I have spent thousands of dollars for dental work over the years and I get a text message? No, this will not stand, I will find another doctor who appreciates customer loyalty. Run don't walk away , after spending literally thousands of dollars out of pocket , Dr Slaughter refuses to honor his work. He put an overlay on a tooth that had an exposed nerve and after 2plus weeks of living on Advil because of pain his response was you need a root canal , and by the way you need to see another Dr. because I don't do root canals. All this after he had been paid over $1300 for the overlay. The cost from his recommended specialist for the root canal was over $3000. It's this type of service that gives all dentist a bad name and why people don't trust Dentist. Why can't they just do the right thing for their patients ,, greed that's why it's only about the money!!! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Slaughter's for nearly 15 years. And even though his office has moved farther toward Cedar Park, and I've moved farther away from his office into downtown Austin, I continue to make a 30 minute drive to visit Dr. Slaughter and his awesome staff...because they are just that good. At the front desk, you'll find either Patty or Amanda. They both have become more like extended family members than medical professionals that I pay for a service. The office is extremely clean. They provide water, coffee, and desktop computers in the waiting room. This is ironic, considering in all the years I've been a patient, I've never sat in the waiting room for more than 3-4 minutes. Patty is beyond professional when it comes to scheduling appointments. And Dr. Slaughter is really cool. He has great taste in music...and great taste in design because I recall that he actually designed their thoroughly modern office. I have a friend that calls him the "Rock 'n' Roll dentist" because of his good taste in music. As a musician, it's great to be able to go to a medical professional who understands your lifestyle and hours. Someone who has empathy for fitting you in, even when your schedule is difficult to schedule around... I could write for days and days about how great Dr. Slaughter and his staff of hygienists, scheduling and billing professionals are...but as I think about it, what it all really comes down to is that Dr. Slaughter and his staff have great compassion for all of their patients. Never in my life have medical professionals ever become like extended family members...at least not until I became a patient of Dr. Estes (and then a patient of Dr. Slaughter's when Dr. Estes retired). These are truly good people, working at the highest levels of the dentistry profession. read more

Dr. Slaughter has been our family Dentist for more than 10 years. I cannot praise enough his skills and perfection in his work. I had multiple crowns during this period and I really cannot tell next day which is which as the look is natural and no pain or sense of it. Dr. David is the best! This is the cream of the crop of dentist offices. It feels almost like a dental spa. They use state of the art technology. I could tell I was getting the best of the best in dental care. I went for an assessment and standard cleaning, and my husband thought I went and got ZOOM whitening! The services here are not cheap, but it's the absolute best care you can buy for your money! Also, if you're a wine lover, make sure you mention it to Dr. David! Even though they are out of network for my plan I will use them for anything major. Had 2 front crowns and 2 veneers done and they are better than expected. Had a minor problem with one veneer but Shayla came in on her day off to repair the temporary. They use the best tools, latest technology and I feel comfortable in this setting. Dr Slaughter glued on my loose crown so poorly I had to have to it redone by another Dentist. Almost lost tooth because of poor job by Slaughter. The dentist that repaired Slaughter's work thought I had glued it back on myself. read more

I 've been to Dr. Slaughter's office twice in the past three months - once for a consult on a possible root canal, and the other for a regular cleaning. Both times the staff was very friendly and professional, and worked hard to get an appointment time that was convenient for me. Dr. Slaughter was very familiar with the type of veneer work I had done when I lived in the Seattle area, and gave me a referral to a fantastic endodontist. I had been with Dr. Estes for many, many years before Dr. Slaughter took over the practice. Even though this dentist office charged higher prices, I adored Dr. Estes and Ellie. Due to insurance issues, I have had to change who I went to for a dentist (all that out of pocket medical stuff). I called into the office during the last couple of days to get prices on a couple of things that I use to purchase from this office and was told that due to not being a patient any longer I would have to pay a higher price. Dr. Slaughter and his staff are the best dental team I have ever worked with. If you look at my x-rays, I look like Frankenstein (a very complicated case) and I have had a ton of experience with many many dentists and oral surgeons. Dr. Slaughter is the prefect blend of professional, friendly, knowledgeable, understanding, resourceful and respectful. He is clearly an expert and strives to learn the latest and greatest techniques. Not only that, but he brings his adorable Golden Retriever to the office with him and lets you pet him! The staff is great too- from the front of the house to the hygienists to the assistants - they all make you feel like you are part of the family. Even if you only go twice a year, they seem to remember all the details of your life. all of the other reviews talk about the wonderful equipment and the state of the art office, and that is all true too. They also offer blankets! we all know how cold it can be in a dental office. All in all, you can tell these people love coming to work. I have been going to Dr. Slaughter for about 2 years now; and I am glad he is young enough that I don't have t worry about him retiring any time soon! This place is top notch. read more

Ever been FIRED by your Dentist? Well, I have. Dr. Slaughter and I have had a patient relationship for many many years. He has serviced my family and some extended family and friends through my referrals. Yes, he has a full state of art technology practice....and we definitely PAY for that! The rub came when I would not allow his technician to take a full set of x-rays on my last visit. We have a history of family thyroid cancer, and I have recently discovered that I am flirting with high thyroid numbers as well. When I asked if they would only take the most necessary bite wing x-rays I was told it was all or nothing!!!! The most disappointing thing was that David did not even come and speak with me personally about my concerns or what "options" we might be able to use to reduce my fears of over radiation. So I was sent packing without so much as a "thanks for your patronage"....and then the capper ... I was sent a letter telling me it would be in my best interest to find another provider. Don't look here for concerned care.....but you will find an aggressive marketing selling job every time you're in the office ...after all they do have to PAY for all of that technology. I think I'll try a good 'ole fashion Dr. that listens to their patients next! read more

Yes Dr. Slaughter's Dentist Office is "As good as it gets"!!!! It is the best dentist office I have ever been in. He pampers his patients with every convenience you can imagine. He and his staff explain everything they will be doing to you. I have never had my teeth cleaned by the baking soda/air method and I must say they are cleaner and whiter than they have ever been. I don't live in Austin, I live 2 hours away and that does not bother me a bit to drive that far to come to this dentist. What a wonderful experience it is. I am so glad I found this office. read more
