I had call them multiple times and give the insurance information and they promise they will make the claim., that never happened. Dr Patel is very nice, but seems unable or very reluctant to perform anything around a root canal. He seems to automatically refer to the same endodontist(pre printed referral slip), and says "it's too close to a nerve" 2 times in a row. After the referred procedure, he's ready to do a crown. Hmmmmm. We returned to our former dentist in Austin who handled the procedure quickly and without a problem, and although it's a further drive, we'll be remaining with him going forward. Dr Judy and her hygienist are absolutely amazing. They work seamlessly to provide the best experience. The office is clean and they are punctual. I get anxiety BIG time with the dentist from a bad experience at another dentist in Chicago back in the 90s!! However Dr Judy has the patience of a Saint. I am just so grateful to be under her care. 1- I scheduled a dental cleaning appointment for 2/5 and on 2/2 the X-rays and records from my previous dentist was emailed to them, as requested. 2- The scheduling experience was already bad because the lady that took my information including insurance didn't take notes then called me back to get them lying about it. 3- As I walk in, Mike says the dentist wants a panoramic of my teeth. As I refused he said this was only for dentist to see and there was no charge and they didn't send this to the insurance company. 4- As I sit down for the procedure, Mike takes more pictures with a pen like tool and says these are just pictures for new patients as procedure, and they don't report that to the insurance either. But tells me the dentist is requesting x rays. 5- As I refuse Mike tells me the dentist will come and talk to me. 6- The dentist, Jessica, comes in and says she needs new x-ray s because the images she received are blurry. I'm not sure where the images are blurry. I'm simply in for a cleaning, have no treatment pending or absolutely any issues with my teeth. I do dental cleaning every three months. 7- I refused to do the x-rays which she insisted I need to as the images she received from my dentist are blurry which is a lie and they simply wanted to charge my insurance stating this would not be an out of pocket cost to me. 8- X-rays were absolutely not needed. If they weren't going to accept copies of my x-rays why did they ask my dentist to send them? This is not about paying or not. My plan just renewed and I know these would be covered 100%. The reason I don't want them to do it because they are being dishonest about the reason they were doing it. I am calling my insurance and reporting them. They'd better not have submitted a claim! I received a call from the general manager. A very kind lady who took the time to listen to me. And we gained agreement that the communication was not done properly which gave me the impression that they were being dishonest. read more

This place has made me cry multiple times. I had to come here after their sister office, Leander Dental Care, dropped my insurance. (They are similarly horrible, see my other reviews.) I came in for my first appointment and the dentist told me that based on my x-rays I needed to see a periodontist to be approved for a cleaning. I told them that I had literally JUST been told the same thing by Leander Dental (who had also refused to clean my teeth) and had subsequently seen a local periodontist who had cleared me. Luckily, they accepted this and cleaned my teeth that visit. I showed up for my next scheduled visit and was told there was a note in my file that I needed *physical proof* of my periodontist signing off before they could clean my teeth. When I told them they had ALREADY cleaned my teeth last time, they insisted there was nothing they could do and turned me away. Why didn't anyone inform me of this before I arranged childcare and drove across town? Why are they suddenly liable for the cleaning this time when they were ok with it last time? Why are these two sister offices THE ONLY DENTISTS I have ever been to that have ever required this, despite me having had these dental issues for eight years and visiting 6 other dentists in that time? No one knows. I was literally turned away and went and sat in my car crying and having an anxiety attack. I am a really easygoing patient who hardly ever has an issue with anyone, and I was made to feel like they would rather treat me like a weird scam artist than care about maintaining my dental care. I will never set foot in this office again. Highly recommend you do the same. read more

My family and I have been going to this office since my kids were in grade school. Now they have graduated from college and got their own jobs. We still see Dr. Judy because she is phenomenal. I am giving 2 stars just because she really is authentically awesome! However, I am with Laurie C., Lauren R., Jeff D., Lynn C. and many others who expressed their frustrations with the scheduling and billing department. Now, I am contemplating of staying away from this office because of the stress and frustrations they have caused us recently. If it's not the confusion on the scheduling, it's the confusion on the billing. (And at one time the ridicule that one of the hygienists did to one of my kids when he was younger- and they did it in front of me-I'll never forget!) -but that's just a story for another day. They need to get themselves together or they will lose more repeat customers. Right now, I am still awaiting a call back from a billing manager. They do not want me to hold the call because billing account manager "is busy". It's been about an hour now....still waiting. We will see how this plays out. I've always had great experiences at Avery Ranch Dental. The front staff are efficient and friendly, the hygienists are personable and professional, and the doctors are everything you could want. They seem genuinely interested in your life and use everything in their vast arsenals to maintain your dental health. A recent event has made me a patient of theirs for life! My wife and I were set to fly out of the country, and the night before our departure, a filling, put in by a dentist at a different practice, came out, leaving the root completely exposed. The amazing Dr. Judy fit me in, first thing in the morning, even though she had other scheduled appointments, and put in a temporary filling so I didn't have to miss my plane. To me, that shows that Avery Ranch Dental is truly committed to, and cares about, their patients. There are major problems with their billing department. They used the wrong dental codes, overcharged, and billed the wrong insurance. It took a long time to fix these multiple problems due to the manager never being available over phone and often not in person either. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. read more

So disappointed in this Dentist office . When I entered no one acknowledged me or said hello . Then proceeded to tell me to fill out new patient information with no enthusiasm for me being there . Then had to take x-rays the woman showed me the room I'd be waiting in .She had proceeded to put me in a used bib which someone else wore during Covid still going on also which is unexceptionable . She wasn't very welcoming or talkative . She just left me there and never received acknowledgment about the Dr coming by and waited 15+ until she let me know. The Dr that saw me was decent and acknowledged me . Seemed to question me about the bib being dirty like I was making it up wasn't even wearing makeup which was on the bib. Which I proceeded to take pictures of which is attached in this comment . Thought I had a Oral appointment with the surgeon but was not told during my set up appointment it was just a regular check up . Even though I made it adamant on the phone while setting up the appointment I had an impacted wisdom tooth and covered wisdom tooth which requires surgery and also I have braces it's not my first rodeo . She made it seem like it was my fault again by questioning my intent and making excuses about the situation.Will never be back and do not recommend this location . Debbie, you don't get it. My frustration isn't with my insurance provider, it is with Avery Ranch Dental, and your ridiculous insistence on getting approval from my insurance provider before allowing me to get my teeth cleaned. As stated, I've been a patient for over 20 years at ARD, and trust me, have the resources to pay cash for any services needed. But that wouldn't have been necessary, if you would have simply looked at the proof I brought in, proof that showed I had COBRA in place and paid for through next month! I explained that it would be a day or two before the COBRA admin got my payment over to my insurance provider, but that wasn't good enough for you. Nope, you treated me like a liar; you didn't trust that you would be paid. I'm neither a liar, nor an ARD patient anymore. Keep that revenue first focus rolling; it appears from other reviews here that I'm not the only one that feels that way. read more

Oh boy. Where to start... This was my first and last appointment at Avery Ranch. Their communication was awful across the board. They changed my appointment time without notifying me. When I realized it the morning of, I called and asked for clarification i.e. when I was supposed to come in. They couldn't figure it out, and told me they'd call me back asap. They never called back. I went ahead and drove the half hour out there. The receptionist was confused, because the system hadn't been updated to indicate that the dentist would take over my cleaning since the hygienist cancelled last minute (they left two voice messages that morning notifying me). I explained, and she checked me in. None of the staff knew my full name. I used my first and last name to check in online, but their system only had my last name put in. Okay, fine. Whatever. I clarified over and over; maybe they updated the system. However, the dentist who did my cleaning was awful. She was obviously distracted and unskilled. She accidentally sprayed my face and shoulder multiple times with water. She let water pile up in my mouth without vacuuming it, she sprayed water OUT of my mouth, and she let water dribble out the sides without cleaning it up or offering me a break to do so. Her cleaning was painful, and she was constantly talking to other people who came by and looking at them while she was cleaning my teeth. Abruptly, she said we were almost done and that she just needed to get some floss. She left and I never saw her again. 15 minutes later, a completely different staff member came in and brushed my teeth but didn't even floss them. Honestly, the worst part is that I wasted 2.5 hours (1 hour of driving, 1.5 hours in the building) for the worst dental experience of my life. I will not be returning read more

I arrived for a crown and cosmetic filling. Anxiety was in my throat. Let me start by saying I dislike dentists. Fear is a terrible feeling as a child sitting in the chair anticipating pain with most visits. It was the 50's and my Mom was not aware of what appropriate dental care entailed. I am 71 yrs old now and have experienced great care in California AND NOW IN TEXAS!! I will always be somewhat nervous, even having my teeth cleaned, but Avery Ranch Dental has been nothing but a great fit for me. I've been getting my dental care with Avery Ranch Dental for many years, I have always had a good visit. The facility is always clean, staff is always professional, courteous, and helpful. The hygienist who take care of my teeth have always been friendly, and have the right touch. Never too rough or rude while performing their task. The dentist is always very professional. They will work with you when you don't have dental insurance, which I appreciate. Although, I do think routine cleanings and x-rays are too expensive. My family and I have been going to this dentist for over 8 years. The dentists are great but I don't know what happened to the office / billing staff. They are in network and incorrectly charged my husband for a cleaning. When I called to talk to them I was told they consider billing my insurance a "curtesy" and "privilege". They don't HAVE to do it. They also told me they can charge whatever they want for a cleaning (even if in network with the insurance), not notify the patient, and charge whatever the insurance won't pay. When I objected they told me was yelling (I wasn't) and hung up the phone on me. It's a shame, Dr Judy is a great dentist. We will be looking for a new provider. read more

I was very unhappy with my dealings with Avery Dental. I was happy with the cosmetic work itself (veneers) but overall it felt like a cash grab. At times it felt like I was being upsold by a car salesman. There was constant pressure to expand the scope of my cosmetic work. They said I "urgently" needed to replace several fillings. My family dentist said they didn't need replacing any time soon. He has since been proven correct. I cancelled a mouth guard when I learned it was optional and that my insurance would not cover it. I was charged anyway, even though I confirmed cancellation, I cancelled prior to it going to the lab, and even though I never got the mouth guard. Honestly, this is a new experience for me. I've always felt I could trust my dentist and doctors and that they were always looking out for my best interest. With Avery Ranch Dental it instead felt like they were trying to make as much money as possible. read more

Dr. Zeh is probably the best dentist I've ever had. I moved to Austin last fall and always had a ton of anxiety whenever getting dental work. I was nervous going to a new dentist because I had been with my previous one for a few years, and just expected the same experience. However, everyone at Avery Ranch was really friendly and continues to be for all interactions and that puts me at ease. Dr. Zeh is very sweet and explains everything that is going to be done very throughly. She lets you have breaks if you need them, but honestly I just feel like I didn't experience any of the discomfort as I had at my previous dentist. She is great at what she does and even followed you with my after an intense procedure. Really appreciate her! I'm looking forward to my next appointment once COVID gets a bit better. The only downside to my experience with Avery Ranch Dental is that i was recently billed for a balance from my previous appointments. I was told that the office was in my insurance network when I first called in to schedule, but it turns out that Dr. Zeh as an individual doctor was not yet. I understand the situation but I was never informed and was always told that I had no balance after each visit. I pay for great insurance each month to make sure everything is covered so I was a bit disappointed, and this is pretty much the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars. read more

Really disappointed in this place. We've been part of this dentistry for years (5+). We haven't been the entire pandemic. Prior to that I would give them 10 stars. After returning this past week, my wife experienced the assistant being VERY unprofessional. I'm talking about everything from Hitler and the Holocaust to slavery to politics to religion and abortion. My wife was horrified as you would never go to a business establishment and expect to have conversation surrounding this topic. This is NOT something that I ever would have seen prior to the pandemic. Something has changed obviously. I don't think we will be going back. I've been a patient for about 2 years now. I didn't grow up with the best dental hygiene and I had lots of plague build up. I have never been comfortable going to the Dentist and often very anxious. I needed a deep cleaning and Dr. Lowrance was amazing. I was very forward telling her that getting work done makes me nervous and when I did get my deep cleaning done she was great and anytime I wanted to stop to take a small break or any concerns she would. She is very personable and pays good attention to the patient. I trust her recommendations and the work she does. Most of the dental hygienist are extremely friendly, gentle and go a great job. I only had one experience that wasn't the best and it wasn't necessarily bad, but that hygienist was a bit more rough than the others, who are very gentle with all cleanings. Dr. Judy and her assistant "Eric" are just the best. They are everything you want at a dental office...caring, thoughtful, compassionate, knowledgeable, hard-working, etc. They always put me at ease. They are never judgmental, harsh, or rushed. They make you feel important, valued, and heard. Even Dr. Judy's voice is comforting and kind. They obviously try very hard to please in their work and their service. As long as I live in town I will not switch as I've found a real "gem" in these two.
