I hate to write this, but I took my time to write a detailed letter to Dr Laubach over a week ago; I just confirmed that she did indeed receive my letter, yet chose not to respond. I went because of her great reviews on Yelp. *I have not missed having my teeth every three months in over 40 years! I was 10 months late because of trying to get a decent dentist under my lousy Medicare plan; they knew this! I went for a simple cleaning; I was seen promptly by the hygienist who took xrays, then asked me if my doctor requires an antibiotic before cleaning after my knee replacement in '25; I told her no; shortly, she came in with 6 antibiotic pills which I took. She then looked for pockets and told me that I had some deep pockets, so they would need to postpone and do a deep cleaning (Why wouldn't it be standard procedure to look for pockets and then shove the unnecessary pills down me)?! *Also, the wrong dentist came in to check me, who was sweet but not who my appointment was with. The deepest pocket was one area at 6; I have had really deep pockets over my life, e.g., 9's-to even a 12. So, this didn't seem to be an emergency, yet I had to leave with no cleaning whatsoever after 10 months. I was told that it would require two visits; I have had multiple deep cleanings but never required two visits. I asked the hygienist if we couldn't just clean that day, since I was so many months behind; her response was "that's not how it works"! Then, when I checked out, I was charged $15 for those pills. I asked the lady couldn't I have refused them? She said "yes" had I asked before I took them! I told her nobody told me there would be a charge; her response was "we don't give out free medicine"! So, bottom line; I walked out having taken 6 antibiotic pills for no reason, since I never got my teeth cleaned and giving them $15 for nothing. I had to wait to get an appointment with my former reliable dentist (prior to Medicare Advantage), so now I am out $150 for out-of-pocket cleaning, because I also have to see the dentist, all because the hygienist refused to clean my teeth! **There is only one bright spot for the visit. The lady who sits on the left when you go in at the reception desk is a sweetheart; she is so kind! Other than that, it was an abysmal and disappointing experience. When I wrote the letter given her great reviews, I was confident that I would hear from her..but nothing. Again, I called to confirm that she got the letter before leaving this review! I really wanted to try again because of her reviews and the arduous task it is to find a decent dentist in this area, but not now! read more

I have going to Advanced Smile for a couple year. I bought a dental policy years ago which covers cleaning every 6 months and X-rays once a year. I got my teeth cleaned Wednesday and as I was leaving they told me I owed $64. I told them that my insurance covers cleaning.. They said my insurance company is not in their network anymore and because of that they only paid half. Then they said maybe I need to change insurance companies. I was just disgusted. read more

​I had a very poor experience during my last visit due to the actions of the dental hygienist, Shawntel. ​Shawntel pushed for an expensive, non-standard treatment that I did not initially intend to receive. The main reason I agreed was her direct assurance that the treatment was 100% covered by my dental insurance. ​This information was inaccurate. The office subsequently billed me a large out-of-pocket amount because the treatment was not covered, meaning she either gave me incorrect information or deliberately misled me to encourage a sale. ​I highly recommend that patients explicitly verify any recommended treatment with their insurance company before agreeing to it, especially if receiving services from this particular hygentist. read more

The technician talked way too much and told me about all her kids before we even got started. I was there for over an hour and was not able to get what I originally went in for, a routine teeth clean because I had two teeth that were considered in the red. They wanted to charge me almost $400 to deep clean my teeth and it would have to be done in two separate sessions. Are they planning on doing every other tooth, left then right, or top then bottom? it made no sense to me that I would have to pay $400 dollars when only 2 of my teeth qualify as needing a dep clean and all my other do not. Overall, very disappointed in the lack of service I received and the length of time I was there to not receive service. read more

I've been going to ADS for a couple years now, and they've always been great. Today they showed themselves as superior. Yesterday I found myself with a growing dental emergency. Throughout the night the pain was becoming more and more intense. So when 6 am rolled around (when they open) I was one of the first ones through their doors. I didn't know what else to do. Let me be clear, they do not take walk-ins or emergency patients. I was not following the rules. They could've easily just said, Sorry Charlie and send me to find an emergency dentist. But the kind folks took pity on me. They took me back to at least get an idea of what was wrong. I'd take it! Anything! I just needed the pain to stop. They took two types of X-rays and found that a 25 year old root canal had finally failed and I had a bad infection. I was lucky that someone cancelled and Dr Hughes happened to have availability at that moment. He asked me if I wanted to extract the tooth and I couldn't sign the quote fast enough. It was an extremely reasonable. I would've paid 4x that at an out of network emergency dentist. It may seem strange that I'm writing such a glowing review about such a painful event. I am 86 years old, and my teeth are the same age. I was dreading going to a dentist's office. My former dentist had recommended Dr. Eivens. From the minute I stepped into the office, I felt at ease. I was initially impressed by the close knit group of dentists and hygienists back in their earlier days and have remained so as they have grown, gotten a larger and newer team of hygienists and receptionists, and moved into a brand new larger space nearby their original office. Their waiting room is warm and open. The receptionists are always friendly and attentive. The check up rooms are spacious and feature comfy chairs and tvs perfectly positioned. This is the best dentist in Austin and I've tried so many of them. Dr. Laubach is the most gentle, thoughtful dentist I've ever had and she has a special technique for administering novocaine that I've never had another dentist use, but it's virtually painless. She checks in more than any other dentist I've gone to, despite causing the least amount of actual pain. At my last dental appointment, they got me in 20 minutes early and fixed my problem painlessly in less than an hour for a fraction of what it would cost to get an implant. Other dentists in town have ruthlessly upsold me or done xrays and cleanings in two separate appointments (why???) and this place keeps saving me literal thousands of dollars!! I saw another review say they drive 30 minutes to get to this practice and I'm in the same boat, I've tried other dentists close to me and they don't even compare, not just to the experience but the cost as well. Switched to these lady dentists several years ago after being taken for a ride by some unscrupulous dentist at a famous practice on MoPac near Far West. They are super friendly and honest. They don't push for crowns you don't need and refer you outside for root canals. By the way, don't ever let a regular dentist do a root canal on you, unless you like to be in pain and have to pull the tooth he messed up during the root canal.
