If you want the short version: come here for periodontal needs! Dr. Robinson will not disappoint you. I had skin grafting on 5 of my front teeth. Dr. Robinson had me well-prepared for the procedure. And while all my questions had been addressed at our first meeting, my procedure was still reviewed and I was able to ask additional questions. Dr. Robinson ensured I was extremely comfortable thru this procedure. I chose nitrous, so we waited to get it to the perfect level.  She made me aware of how much I could receive, and worked with me to find my comfort level. My mouth was numbed precisely and effectively.  I felt nothing! The room was peaceful.  Dr. Robinson was calm and focused and reassuring thru the procedure. When it was over, I was given a pain killer shot in the grafting area to help me with recovery. Five days after the procedure I had some concerns, and I was able to get right into the office and see Dr. Robinson.  She checked everything out and was able to assure me everything was healing appropriately. The two week follow up appointment wasn't very long, but gave appropriate time to address the new questions I had. She wasn't rushed, despite having other patients in the office.  I left feeling really good about the status of my healing. My final appointment was terrific.  As with the two week appointment, it wasn't long, but Dr. Robinson was able to give her final blessing on the healing and let me know she truly believes the procedure was the right solution for my problem and will keep my mouth healthy longer. I have had 2 bone grafts, 2 dental implants, and 1 gum graft completed by Dr Robinson. She is absolutely the best periodontist on the planet! I have received the most compassionate care from her and her amazing staff. As an example, after my implant procedure she called me directly to check on me during post-op recovery in the evenings. I was very nervous about getting a gum graft procedure as I heard that it was painful and hard to recover from. First of all, let me tell you that I have had cavities filled that hurt worse than this procedure on which there were seven teeth at once! It was so efficient and she knew exactly what she was doing that my anxiety went away right away This is day two and I slept all night. I do not need pain medication. The only thing a little alarming is waking up to find blood and a small clot in my mouth which is absolutely normal. I used Listerine and brushed the other teeth and absolutely no pain doing that. The worst problem I had at all was taking out the stent and putting it back in. Note to self: put the stent in right side up lol I am so grateful to have found Dr. Robinson and her team. I really needed this procedure and I'm so glad it's over with no drama whatsoever and I didn't have to miss any work at all. I had had a graft procedure a few years ago and found this to be an improved experience with oral sedation, a palate stent and non-narcotic pain meds. Two BIG thumbs up for this woman! Several months ago, I noticed my gum was receding a bit on my lower jaw, but I was in the midst of dealing with having two other surgeries done. When I was finally able to make an appt with my dentist (Dr Tyree FTW!), it had receded nearly down to the bone and was quite painful. I was assuming I'd need to have a gum grafting done, but I wanted to get Dr Tyree's opinion and a possible referral. He checked it out and indeed that was needed and he gave me Melanie's name and business card. They also checked to make sure she was on my insurance and she was! When I first came in, Susan? Mary? went through all the paperwork and payment information with me, which was very informative and very helpful. The actual surgery was a breeze. I had been freaking out in the waiting room because I suddenly realized that I'd be awake the entire time for the surgery (it's outpatient at their location, they just use local anesthetic, although you have the option of other types of anesthesia if you have dental anxiety), but it was just fine. Dr Robinson is very skilled with giving novacaine shots, although you still can't make a shot to the *roof of your mouth* not hurt a little.. D: After the anesthetic set in, I didn't end up feeling a thing the entire time! They even gave me sunglasses to put on so I didn't have to stare into a blaring bright light or keep my eyes closed the whole time. She was very quick and communicated with me the entire time about what she was doing and kept asking me how I was doing. The whole thing only took about 45 minutes and I was out the door! Her staff is always very lovely and friendly. I feel welcomed whenever I come here. I had to go back for a couple post-op appointments and by now, my gum looks totally back to normal! You can't even tell I had surgery. Melanie Robinson is a fantastic periodontist and I will definitely recommend her to anyone looking to have that kind of work done in the future. Recently, I had my first-ever dental surgery. Initially, I was not overly excited about the notion of having any type of surgery. I was referred to Dr. Robinson by Dr. Karla Frazier, my dentist who is absolutely amazing. After my consultation with Dr. Robinson, I was a little less anxious about the thought of getting an implant (or the procedure that I have described on occasion as "getting a screw drilled into my jawbone.") On the day of the surgery, Dr. Robinson and her team helped put me at ease prior to IV sedation by addressing last minute questions and providing a mini-post op training session (that's what I call it) for my driver who accompanied me. Everything from check-in to surgery was smooth. I experienced great customer service at each touchpoint. It wasn't until after the surgery that I can whole-heartedly, unequivocally rate Dr. Robinson with 5 stars (as opposed to my great service getting 4 rating system)! Dr. Robinson personally called and spoke with my "care provider" a few hours after my surgery to ensure that all was well. A few days later, I had a question/concern after hours and she immediately answered the phone. The matter was quickly resolved. To my surprise, she checked in with me briefly a few days later WHILE she was on vacation! I have NEVER experienced that level of accessibility, immediate response and personal attention as that provided by Dr. Robinson! One word: Wow! Dr. Robinson is fantastic and I highly recommend her. I had a chronic, undiagnosed issue with one of my dental implants and was referred to her by my regular dentist. Dr. Robinson assessed my situation and clearly laid out and explained the possible options. The surgery that was conducted was NOT the most expensive option but, in her assessment, the appropriate one. During my healing period, she called me over the weekend to check in with me and was just a phone call away if I had questions/issues. During my first consultation with her, I sensed she was kind as well as likely highly talented. I think the kindness was as important as the talent. The surgery was apparently as near perfect as one can be. Painful but not overwhelming with very little discharge, no discoloration, and only moderate swelling. It was vital that her staff be professional and they were. Cleo was very thorough, and Laramie very present and efficient. First, I hope to not ever have to see Dr. Robinson again. :-) BUT, if I have to have periodontal work done, I would definitely recommend her and her staff. I had a receding gum line on three teeth that after years of monitoring, I needed to get a gum graft. I didn't even know this procedure existed until about a year ago. Dr. Robinson used tissue from the roof of my mouth. Overall, the experience was better than I would have expected. I had a quick recovery and was really impressed with the pre and post care follow ups. If you are anticipating needing to see a periodontist, schedule an appointment with her asap as she books up fast. My first appointment with her for a consultation was booked over a month in advance. Called to ask questions about getting an extraction and the office manager I spoke to was extremely short and rude. Her tone of voice made it sound like I was wasting her time. Having to get a procedure like this done is a stressful event and being talked down to does not help the situation. I hoped to go see Dr. Robinson given her great reviews on here but I won't get a chance given how abruptly I was cut off. "Who told you to call here?" "No I won't give you prices over the phone." Dr. Stocker (spoken in soft German accent), whilst trying to fit a crown on one of my back teeth: Susan, you do not have enough tooth left to properly attach a crown to. I suggest you have crown lengthening surgery. Me: wha wha what's that, Doc? (stomach in knot) Dr. S: A periodontist will cut off some of your gum tissue, exposing more tooth so that a crown will fit and not fall off every time you eat hot soup. Me: Waah! (need my mommy immediately) Dr. S: Here is Dr. Melanie Robinson's number. Tell her I sent you. Well, I took the good Doctor's advice, which was spot-on, seeing as how the temporary crown fell off twice before I could have the surgery (damn tiny tooth). Dr. Robinson and her staff made me feel at home and put me at ease, from the initial consultation through the dreaded procedure. The environment is warm and friendly, and everyone that works there is personable and professional. I was told that my mouth would be totally numb and I wouldn't feel a thing. True. They gave me a pair of Bono-esque dark glasses to wear during the procedure to shield my eyes from the super bright lights, which made me feel all cool and sh*t. I told Dr. Robinson about my tendency to get dizzy if my head is not propped up a little, and to my surprise she said, "no big deal" and kept me propped up, and stood up to do the scraping and scraping and cutting and stitching up of my gum tissue. Impressive. She stopped several times and asked how I was doing. Good. The procedure took about an hour, and the staff made sure I was good before I had to maneuver South Mopac at 3:30 in the afternoon . I joked around a little about the Vicodin prescription she gave me before I left, and her assistant told me I was a wonderful patient. Sweet! About 7:00 that night, my phone rang, and it was Dr. Robinson, checking to see if I was ok! Super impressive. That just doesn't happen very often. read more

You hope you never NEED a periodontist but if you do ... go see Dr. Robinson! I didn't take care of my teeth for years. And who knew a root canal was not the end of the life for a tooth?! Not me. I had a root canal fail and after a second one, the tooth had to come out. My dentist recommended Dr. Robinson. She is awesome! She's very professional and says it like it is, which I appreciate. The extraction procedure was explained. I don't get too hung up on process when it comes to this kind of thing. I just want the person doing it to understand. And I don't have a problem with pain but I get very anxious with dentists and the like (which you would think would have made me take better care of my teeth ...) I was given halcyon for the procedure, which is maybe the best thing ever! I don't remember any of the procedure. Afterward, the pain was minimal (I'm sure this varies with patients) and at my follow-up appointment, all looked great. Then another tooth tried to kill me and I had to have another extraction. Believe me, I take GREAT care of my teeth now but I went back to Dr. Robinson and had a second tooth removed. Another good (as good as it can be) experience. I am having implants so I went back to Dr. Robinson for the stents that get put in that the crown will be attached to. All that went smoothly too. My husband also had a couple of teeth that needed to be pulled. We're quite a pair. His implants are complete and his experience with Dr. Robinson was also really good. Her staff is professional and pleasant and her office runs very smoothly. The projected procedure costs have always been accurate, estimating insurance payments correctly. I don't know how important that is to some but I've had horrible experiences with dentist offices overcharging (up front) and then have had issues with trying to get refunded timely. If you need a periodontist - and I hope you don't - I highly recommend Dr. Melanie Robinson! read more

A bit of background: I originally went to Dr. Yu's office (for a gum graft which I've needed for awhile) to get an evaluation done for this surgery. They were out of network, gave me this super confusing paper with numbers on top of numbers which was impossible to follow, then couldn't tell me what my insurance would cover, and gave me a ballpark number. I asked my insurance company who said they should absolutely be able to tell me what insurance covers vs. not. I called back and the woman at Dr. Yu's seemed annoyed and said it would be a bunch of extra work for them and probably wouldn't get done before my surgery. Dr. Yu seemed really great but the whole thing made me uneasy. So I instead went to Dr. Robinson's office (in network) for a consultation and they immediately gave me an exact cost breakdown of what I'd have to pay. It was significantly less (1/4 the cost) than what the other office "ball parked" and it was for 4 teeth instead of 2. Obviously this may have been impacted by it being in network, but either way, the staff was much more pleasant to work with. I had a really great experience overall with Dr. Robinson and everyone in the office. They were super helpful from start to finish. She has a very calming presence, and makes you feel super at ease during the surgery. It was pretty painless, and she's super available at all times if you have a question. Procedure wise, everything went great, and I'm really glad I ended up at her office. Also as an added bonus, Dr. Robinson is such a lady boss. If you have to have surgery, it might as well be from an HBIC. She's really great; I want to be her when I grow up :) As a side note: I mentioned this to them, but I thought the instructions were super great for the first few days but after I wasn't really sure what to do. When to begin flossing, whether or not the stitches would come out on their own, etc. I got kind of stressed out about that. Also they aren't open 8-5pm everyday, so if you have a question and they aren't open, Dr. Robinson is available even if the office is closed. Definitely take a close look at the instructions though if you're a stress case like me and get any questions clarified before you have to spend days on a liquid diet and have a hangry induced stress spiral about loose stitches. read more

No one wants to have a gum graft or any other gum surgery but this was really the best possible experience! Before my first appointment I read about the procedure and cost online so I went in expecting the absolute worst. Luckily, it wasn't all that pricey for a graft on one tooth and Dr. Robinson assured me that I'd be fine with just local anesthesia, could drive myself home after the procedure, and might not even need pain medication. The procedure was not bad at all. The whole thing took 30 minutes at most and the only pain was I felt was the injection in my gums and the roof of my mouth. I had mild discomfort for a few days but no real pain. Dr. Robinson saw me for a follow-up two weeks later and although everything looked good, I am going back for a second follow-up in another two weeks. I like that Dr. Robinson is this thorough! Everyone in the office is great too. I hope I never need to visit Dr. Robinson again but I'd recommend her to anyone who needs a Periodontist.. read more
