If you want the short version: come here for periodontal needs! Dr. Robinson will not disappoint you. I had skin grafting on 5 of my front teeth. Dr. Robinson had me well-prepared for the procedure. And while all my questions had been addressed at our first meeting, my procedure was still reviewed and I was able to ask additional questions. Dr. Robinson ensured I was extremely comfortable thru this procedure. I chose nitrous, so we waited to get it to the perfect level.  She made me aware of how much I could receive, and worked with me to find my comfort level. My mouth was numbed precisely and effectively.  I felt nothing! The room was peaceful.  Dr. Robinson was calm and focused and reassuring thru the procedure. When it was over, I was given a pain killer shot in the grafting area to help me with recovery. Five days after the procedure I had some concerns, and I was able to get right into the office and see Dr. Robinson.  She checked everything out and was able to assure me everything was healing appropriately. The two week follow up appointment wasn't very long, but gave appropriate time to address the new questions I had. She wasn't rushed, despite having other patients in the office.  I left feeling really good about the status of my healing. My final appointment was terrific.  As with the two week appointment, it wasn't long, but Dr. Robinson was able to give her final blessing on the healing and let me know she truly believes the procedure was the right solution for my problem and will keep my mouth healthy longer. I feel great!

Receded gum before surgery
Lauren C.

Two BIG thumbs up for this woman! Several months ago, I noticed my gum was receding a bit on my lower jaw, but I was in the midst of dealing with having two other surgeries done. When I was finally able to make an appt with my dentist (Dr Tyree FTW!), it had receded nearly down to the bone and was quite painful. I was assuming I'd need to have a gum grafting done, but I wanted to get Dr Tyree's opinion and a possible referral. He checked it out and indeed that was needed and he gave me Melanie's name and business card. They also checked to make sure she was on my insurance and she was! When I first came in, Susan? Mary? went through all the paperwork and payment information with me, which was very informative and very helpful. The actual surgery was a breeze. I had been freaking out in the waiting room because I suddenly realized that I'd be awake the entire time for the surgery (it's outpatient at their location, they just use local anesthetic, although you have the option of other types of anesthesia if you have dental anxiety), but it was just fine. Dr Robinson is very skilled with giving novacaine shots, although you still can't make a shot to the *roof of your mouth* not hurt a little.. D: After the anesthetic set in, I didn't end up feeling a thing the entire time! They even gave me sunglasses to put on so I didn't have to stare into a blaring bright light or keep my eyes closed the whole time. She was very quick and communicated with me the entire time about what she was doing and kept asking me how I was doing. The whole thing only took about 45 minutes and I was out the door! Her staff is always very lovely and friendly. I feel welcomed whenever I come here. I had to go back for a couple post-op appointments and by now, my gum looks totally back to normal! You can't even tell I had surgery. Melanie Robinson is a fantastic periodontist and I will definitely recommend her to anyone looking to have that kind of work done in the future. Check out my before and after pictures of my gums too!

Dr. Robinson is amazing! Friendly prompt and most importantly honest. That's to be admired in the for profit dental industry.

Gum grafts. I knew they were coming for me one way or another (thanks mom and dad). I got referred…read moreto Mike Williamson by my dentist and was initially apprehensive as he was out of network with my dental insurance, but went for a consult anyway. Dr. Williamson operates a very smooth-running practice. Every staff interaction I had (front desk, nurses, techs) was excellent and you can tell there's just good teamwork going on here. I made a special request for my surgical operation and was super grateful that Dr. Williamson was willing to accommodate it. He and Sarah had excellent bedside manner during my operation - it went quick and painless. The recovery was (somewhat predictably) miserable for the first week. I had a few questions about the discomfort I was experiencing and was so appreciative of the staff that went out of their way to proactively check in on me and get answers. They even reached out to Dr. Williamson about one issue on his day off which they didn't have to do. Just had my post-op today follow-up today, a couple weeks later, and everything is in great shape. Despite the challenges in recovery so grateful to have this out of the way and gums that are good to go (as Dr. Williamson put it) for life! Though the office will still bill insurance for you, I could have saved some money working with an in-network provider. However, I think this operation in particular benefits from Dr. Williamson's wealth of experience - my understanding is there's a lot of nuances in sourcing and shaping graft tissue. Some things are worth spending on!

I will definitely have their office do my periodontal work. They were very thorough and only recommended what was truly necessary. V. D. Lawrence May 21,2019

As anyone can see, I rarely write reviews here. But today's experience justified it…read more I was referred by my dentist to Central Texas Periodontics for a periodontal cleaning. Instead, what happened in my opinion is something called Appointment Padding, a revenue boosting technique in healthcare to require multiple or unnecessary office visits to perform what could easily be done with a single or fewer visits. Specifically, once I arrived, I was told that today's appointment was essentially just to look at my mouth *to see* if I needed a periodontal cleaning (which the dentist had already confirmed), and that for the actual cleaning, I'd have to come back some other day, which of course would trigger a brand new office visit charge. When I asked what about this process would require that a cleaning would need to be done on a *different day*, Dr. Desai said "This won't work," and told me I'd be getting a refund on my appointment fee, essentially directing me to leave for having asked a forbidden question. It appeared the only thing they value more than Appointment Padding is not being asked to explain it. The reaction betrayed what seemed to be his inadvertent "over the target" response. Who knows how many more visits, beyond two, they'd have sought to stretch my billing. To be clear, this isn't a critique of CTP's work (which I assume would vary greatly based on doctor anyway). But my advice would be that anyone should only go to Central Texas Periodontics if they want to spend extra time and extra money on lots and lots of unnecessary visits -- and even then, such a patient best not ask about it. Incidentally, the office staff was quite professional and polite. I booked another periodontist immediately who, (now that I knew to ask in advance), didn't require two periodontal visits for one periodontal cleaning.
