Dr. Williamson is not just a highly-skilled periodontist, but an amazing person in general. His staff is top-notch as well.
I went into his office to get some cosmetic crown lengthening done.. As a young guy, my 'short teeth' severely messed with my confidence; the health of my teeth were also taking a hit since I didn't even want to look at them before or after brushing.
I did my research online, and decided that I should consult a periodontist since the appearance of "short teeth" could be caused by "big gums". I found Dr. Williamson on Yelp and decided to give him a try. I was nervous... REALLY nervous. This issue has bothered me and I was worried. What if it can't be fixed? What If I can't afford it? What if it turns out worse?
First off, the staff was very welcoming and totally nonjudgemental. The first visit, Dr. Williamson took a look at my teeth quite a bit, took some X-Rays, and talked with me. He was blunt, honest, and gave me all the options I have. You can tell that the health of the gums after the surgery was of equal importance of the cosmetic results. He told me what he could realistically do and what I shouldn't expect. He consulted with my dentist to figure out the best course of action that would work the best in the long term. After I finished talking with him, the staff talked to me about cost and helped me schedule the appointment. The cost of the surgery was fair and right in the middle of the cost estimates. The crown lengthening work is generally done under IV Sedation, so you need to factor that in your costs as well.
Surgery day was as a smooth as possible. The surgery happened at the end of the day on Friday, which worked out well for me. It lasted a few hours, but the IV sedation made it feel like 5 minutes. Dr. Williamson gave me many different ways of contacting him if I had any questions or problems. I even got a phone call from Dr. Williamson that night asking how I was doing and if I had any questions now that the sedation has worn off.
After 2 weeks, I saw him again, and the staff were excited and wanted to see the outcome as soon as I walked into the office. The reaction was great, and Dr. Williamson took a look at the progress and gave me some tips to finish up the healing quickly.
After 4 weeks, I had my final followup and my gums were completely healed. It was actually pretty sad to leave the office, since I will likely not see them anymore. Every time I brush my teeth, I look at them! When I take pictures, I smile as big as possible!
If you are reading this Dr. Williamson: thank you. Seriously, you changed my life. :D read more
