Nearly two years after a tooth extraction, I received a text message that looked like a scam. I almost deleted it. After doing a reverse number search, I confirmed it came from San Gabriel Oral Surgery. When I called the office, I was told I had an unpaid balance of $957.00 for three 15-minute sedation charges at mixed rates -- supposedly not covered by my insurance. The extraction itself had already been paid for. I was told, "Insurance companies don't like to pay for single-tooth extractions." I immediately called BS and asked for an itemized statement. At first I got an "ummm." After asking again, I was told they would email it to me. I also asked why I was being contacted almost two years later. I was told their previous billing/accounting company "dropped the ball" and they're now using a new one. When I received the statement, it only showed the tooth extraction -- no sedation charges. I then contacted my insurance company and spoke with two different representatives, including someone in the dental department. Both confirmed the issue: the office failed to submit the required doctor's notes explaining why sedation was necessary. They told me the office could resubmit the claim. I emailed the office explaining this. After multiple back-and-forth messages, instead of rebilling insurance, they offered to discount my bill by 10%. I repeatedly asked whether they had contacted my insurance company to rebill the claim. They avoided the question. At that point, I told them I would not pay anything until I received a written denial from my insurance company, because I no longer trust the office's billing practices. I also informed them that Texas state law requires medical providers to bill within specific time limits, and attempting to collect nearly two years later is unacceptable. I even offered to split the cost, despite this being entirely their billing failure. That offer was ignored. Instead of holding their billing company accountable, they chose to pressure the patient. Bottom line: Keep detailed records. Time how long you're sedated. Get everything in writing. Because one or two years later, you may receive a surprise bill with the explanation: "We dropped the ball -- now you owe us." This feels deceptive, and patients deserve better.

Please save yourself time and money. Dr. Smith comes off arrogant, rude and unprofessional. He definitely did NOT take the time to discuss the option of having the others removed, the details of the procedure, and what levels of sedation are available. The way it was discussed was not thorough. After the visit I did look elsewhere, but because of timing I came back. Make sure you do not come back. Look elsewhere. The staff does not know how to schedule your appointment. Be careful. Theresa tries to get you in but the timing is off, the entire office is off and the experience will leave you in aww in the most WORST way! They do not check in with you to see how you are--- so don't expect a call back. Possibly the most rudest form of respect in the lowest way possible. If you plan on doing ANY sedation look elsewhere. Do not do it or you will regret it. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Edit: It is now one week since the surgery. Marc used a local time released anesthetic on the extraction site and told me around day 3 there would be some pain. Day 1-3 there was almost no pain, on day 4 and 5 my jaw was a little tight but still very little pain, the surgery is now healed as far as I can tell and I couldn't be happier with the results. If you want an pain free extraction experience Marc is the guy to see!

He promised me he would also "shave" my chin bone down as he was also certified in cosmetic surgery. The actual day before surgery, we met at his office and he proceeded to tell me that he will not be shaving down the chin bone with no explanation. My only guess is the $$$ (we paid in cash). Also, he let me know that I would not be the in ICU (as discussed previously), but in day surgery. I wasn't prepared to how severe the surgery was and all the recovery it took. I had two young children at the time. My face looks worse and I still have problems with my jaw. I am reminded every day I look in the mirror. I wish I had researched and found a more reputable oral surgeon at the time.

The morning of the surgery I was put completely under which is what I wanted and when I woke up I I remember asking "when are you going to start on the surgery"?. I felt nothing. I am in my second day of recovery and I feel great. This was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE and I highly recommend Round ROCK Oral surgery for ALL oral surgery needs. I had a 2nd molar that needed to be pulled as it had broken pretty badly. I had it pulled last Friday, October 9th. It literally took him less than 2 minutes to get it out of my mouth once I was numbed, and I felt NOTHING. I didn't even take any medicine once the anesthesia wore off. Honestly... I would go back tomorrow without a second thought if I needed to, and that's saying a LOT for me. Best medical experience of my life, and Dr. B and his staff are incredible. However today when I arrived at the office and paid about $350 it was not for what I was originally quoted. $204 was supposed to be for a cleaning and two upper fillings on my left and right. I was told I was only scheduled for one so I was very much confused about what I had just paid for. I had to show the treatment plan I signed and was told that is not what is in my chart. After having mine and my daughter's work done I am then told our prices have changed because they were using an outdated fee schedule....which I was asked to sign the new ones. That doesn't make any sense that you cannot even provide me the correct quote so how do I even trust that this "new" fee schedule is correct. I have never had this happen. If anything I'm usually paying over and ending up with a credit. It would have been better to show me the different fee schedules and how my treatment plans were calculated wrong versus showing me to different plans with very different amounts. If you go here I would definitely have them double check your quotes and billing.

On my first visit I made it known that I was nervous but unfortunately, their block lost power before I could be seen by the Doctor and I thought... just my luck lol. They were able to get me rescheduled a few days later and I'm so thankful that I got paired with his dental assistant, Melanie. She listened to my concerns, assured me that I was at the right place, eased my anxiety and told me that they'd help me. She made me feel so comfortable which is exactly what I needed in that moment. When I was seen by Dr. Satish he assured me that we'd come up with a plan to get me feeling better. I received a plan of action which I could alter depending on my availability of funds (dental work is not cheap!). I've already been back for step one which were filings and that appointment went well. I already have my second procedure scheduled. I think I'll request Melanie to assist with any of my future visits because she just made me feel so comforted. But honestly everyone I've encountered there from the front desk staff to Dr. Satish himself have been very welcoming and extremely friendly.
