We had the Diablo Sticks for an app. The spice was intense with those fresh jalapeño slices but we are from New Mexico so we dig the heat! My hubby had the "Inventory Wings" from the specials menu and OH EM GEE! So flavorful! A definite must! I had the Mulagatawny (sp?) Soup. And wowza! So flavorful and comforting! I could eat it by the gallon in any season! Bry (again, sp?) was our server and she was wonderful and attentive. Beer selection is pretty wide and the place is wonderfully designed and welcoming. First visit to Slackwater resulted in mixed reviews from our family of five. We led off with the appetizer wings, which received a unanimous thumbs up for their flavor, but be warned that the wings are on the petite side. They have a hint of Sweeney honey flavor, and are definitely not too spicy. I tried the Iron Horse pizza and was pleased, but not overjoyed with it. The crust was very good, and it had just the right amount of marinara sauce (not too much), but the rest of the toppings were a bit sparse. My son says he liked his chicken Caesar salad, but only ate half of his half-sized portion salad before he gave up on it and opted to dip bread into his sister's tomato soup instead--if you can decipher what that means, your ahead of me in the parenting game. The pulled pork nachos were just okay, not great, and took far too long to make it to our table. Our server was very attentive and polite, which probably upgraded this meal by one star. Really delicious pizza. This is now my #1 pizza place. The pizza crust is so tasty. Cara the hostess and Amanda our server were great. Good for kids. The kid cheese pizza tasted so good too!!The bathrooms were clean. The stuffed breadsticks were okay but I liked the pizza a lot, next time I will order more pizzas to try out! Was underwhelmed by the pizza mainly due to the dough: wasn't chewy with a nice bite, instead is more of a flatbread that you can buy at a grocery store. I was really impressed with every single thing we had. Slackwater is in a stand-alone building tucked away in the southeast corner of the Target parking lot next to a small wooded area that has a little creek that I assume is dry most of the year. We arrived at about 7pm on a Tuesday and the parking lot was packed! We assumed there was going to be a long wait but we were seated immediately. Their menu is mostly Pizza with Appetizers, Sandwiches and Salads as well. Wait, I should say, their menu is mostly Beer! They have hundreds of beers listed on their menu. It isn't often I find a restaurant outside of the downtown area that has beers I haven't tried yet, but I was in luck. I'm pretty sure they have the biggest beer selection south of The Bayou. I started with a Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn Double IPA. This was definitely one of the better double IPAs I've had. Bright citrusy hop flavors in a very well balanced beer that you would never guess was 8%abv. After that I tried a Mare Island Nuclear Sandwich Double IPA. This was also very good but had more of a dank hop flavor with a bit of a sharp bite and the 9.1%abv was definitely noticeable. My wife had a Hive Winery Cider on draft and then a Sangria. She enjoyed both but said the Sangria was the best she's ever had. We ordered the You'll Be Stuffed Sticks. This is like a cheese filled calzone with marinara sauce for dipping. Seems pretty basic, but it was really good. Could taste olive oil, rosemary, a little black pepper wonderful cheese and the sauce was better than your average marinara sauce. My wife got a Ceasar Salad, which again, she said was the best Caesar Salad she's had, mostly because the greens were so fresh. I got the Joe Pesci Sandwich. It's a hot Italian Sandwich with Salami, Capicola, Pepperoni and Smoked Provolone. Once again all the individual flavors stood out and came together wonderfully. We also got the Iron Horse Pizza but substituted Green Goddess Sauce for the Marinara and added Tomatoes. It was awesome! I really want to come back and try a few more of their pizzas. The sauce substitution was my wife's idea and it worked out but I really want to try a pizza with their Marinara Sauce. We will be back! read more

Amazing service, food, and atmosphere all in one spot. First timer at this place for my boyfriend's birthday and I'm highly impressed with their appetizers and entrees they provide. I tried each of my friends pizza (each pizza different) and they all tasted delicious. You can't go wrong with any pizza and I definitely want more of their chicken wings. The biggest Emphasis I appreciated was how wonderful the service was. Kate was our waitress and she was great at handling our table of 14! She was kind, welcoming and had a great energy. We did have a hiccup during dinner. We noticed Everyone all had their food but my boyfriends, which took awhile. We asked for an update and Kate figured out the situation. For some reason my boyfriend's pizza didn't come through in the ticket and left him to receive his food last. The amazing part was despite how busy crazy the restaurant was, the manager surprised us by taking the time to make an appearance at our table to apologize for the situation. She also put my boyfriend's pizza and a dessert (their made-from-scratch strawberry cheesecake-11/10 recommend) ON THE HOUSE. One of the best above and beyond services we've experienced. We are pretty patient people so we weren't upset about the situation. We understood how busy it was and We knew they were doing their best but they dealt the situation incredibly well. (6/24/2023) came for a late dinner on a Saturday night. It seemed bustling. We were surprised at the strip mall location. Service was very friendly and accommodating and on the spot. Great vibes at slackwater! There were sooo many beer options on the menu. I got the buffalo wings (which were great) and the tastes like burning pizza. The pizza's here are personal sized, and I couldn't finish the entire thing. The tastes like burning wasn't my favorite, but I liked the cardiac arrest (meat lovers) pizza that my friend got more. Tastes like burning was spicier than I expected, and didn't have too much flavor (there wasn't a lot of variety of flavor, it was just spicy). If I come again I would get a different kind of pizza. I visited on Tuesday and this place was packed! Thankfully the wait for a table was only about 15 minutes, but service was really slow. Our waitress didn't check up on us very often and we had to ask another server for help. Despite this, I still enjoyed my experience because of my company and the food was good. I really liked the raspberry sangria because it wasn't overly sweet. The wings and pizza were good, but my favorite item was actually the Thai Coco salad. Went here for the first time today. So yummy! We had a big group but we were able to get right in on a Tuesday for lunch (there is an online list you can add yourself too). Cute sit down place, have several tables for big groups. They do have a full beer/pub selection, but a place you can feel totally comfortable taking kids too. They have a long list of different types of pizzas. (Also have salads, pasta and sandwiches - but we all went for the pizza. The pizzas are 1-2 people pizzas, so we all ordered our own. I did have a few pieces leftover on mine. As far as I saw they don't really have a kids menu- or maybe we just weren't offered one. I had the Grape and Gorg pizza- it was such a yummy unique taste. Ever since the first time I went here I fell in love with it and I have to resist from eating my whole pizza because it makes me sad when it's gone and it's always so great to have leftovers! If I don't, I'm almost always back within the next day or two lol! I seriously love the atmosphere, the people, and the food is incredibly delicious! You can't go wrong! My favorite is easily the buffalo chicken pizza and I always get a side of ranch and an extra side of buffalo sauce because that makes it just that much more amazing! The Cobb salad with added buffalo chicken is also amazing. I have also tried the Italian job theirFebruary special is delicious, their wings are amazing, and their nachos are absolutely fantastic! They have a great selection of local beers and I really like the Schneiderweisse Aventinus or the other Schneiderweisse beer (can't remember the name), or the Pinkus Hefeweizen. Disclaimer, it's not a full bar, but don't let that hold you back from getting in and getting a full strength beer with your remarkable pizza! Every person I have taken here has been blown away with this place that is finally going to be a long lasting restaurant in a location that has struggled for years. When I first moved to Utah, I stayed with my parents in Ogden for about a month. My husband and I explored a fair amount of the city in that short time, and Slackwater became our favorite restaurant. The location in Ogden is perfection, especially with the creek running by, though parking is atrocious. We now reside in Sandy, and happily, Slackwater seems to have followed us! While this location's setting is nowhere near as picturesque, the parking is a great improvement, so you win some you lose some, I guess! The lot appeared packed on our visit around 5:30 on a Thursday, but there was no wait, so don't let a bunch of cars deceive you. We were seated at a small two top along one of the windowed walls. Sadly, they don't offer booth seats (correction: see Blake's note below, they do have 'em!), but they have a variety of table sizes, plus plenty of room at the bar as well. The interior is plain, not really decorated, with the feel of a basic pub. It is also quite dimly lit, not so much that it bothered me (we'll call it mood lighting), but worth noting as I know some diners do not enjoy that. The menu includes sandwiches, salads, and their main thang, pizza. They have some very fun and creative combinations like gyro, barbecue, fish taco, tikka masala, grape and gorgonzola, etc, along with all the standards. Of course you can build your own, and any can be turned into a calzone. They are only offered in one size, about a medium, but toppings are generous, and I think most could feed two, except the hungriest of diners. Our favorite has always been California Sunrise, a fantastic departure from traditional uber-rich pizzas, featuring chicken, avocado, green goddess dressing, and loads of chiffonade spinach. It kind of feels like a salad on top of a pizza. Appetizer-wise, we usually get Check Your Garlic Breath, with whole heads of caramelized roasted garlic and perfect crispy thin toast, but we were feeling an adventure, so went a different route this time. I ordered the mulligatawny soup, which was a lil' spicy, a lil' sweet, creamy with mild curry flavor, and full of tender veggies and chunks of chicken. It was dropped off first, by the most enthusiastic server who brought me several bottles of delicious hot sauces. It sounded like they have a great assortment, but she pointed out her personal fav, a smoky, not-too-hot variety by Humble House Foods, and yowza, it was delish. Definitely try that if you can! I do wish the soup was served with a bit of bread, but that is easily remedied, and next time I will make sure to request some. I also had the Thai Coco salad (full size), featuring a mix of spring greens, a creamy, slightly sweet limey dressing added with restraint, sweet quick-pickled near paper-thin cucumbers, fresh pineapple, and crunchy almonds. It was simple, but very satisfying! I was not quite full after, but I had just left the gym, so particularly hungry, and I think normally a soup and salad would suffice. On the other hand, if you are more than a bit peckish, you can top your salad with a variety of meat, and I think the tilapia, especially, would be a lovely pairing with this particular one. My husband went traditional with an Iron Horse calzone, and this thing was massive! Their dough is soft and fairly thick, and I enjoyed the couple bites I tried, though do not care for their marinara sauce as it is a little too sugary. It was lucky I wasn't too stuffed as, for dessert, we shared the Singles Ward Delight (lololol, cute) which truly was a delight! The graham crust was THICK with a toffee-esque flavor, whipped cream cheese (or maybe mascarpone?) filling, an almost-too-salty chocolate mousse (in a good way!), all topped by a hefty dollop of whipped cream. So good I have been dreaming up a recipe, as I've been craving it nonstop. We are not big drinkers, so I cannot say much about their beverage menu, but I think it speaks for itself in that it's eight pages long in tiny font. Beer fans, especially, will be pleased as they have loads, and seem to make a point of featuring local varieties. My husband was thinking he'd get a cocktail 'cause he forgot we are in Utah, lol (see, told you we don't drink that much), so instead he went with the peach mango sangria, and it was very good: light, refreshing, and fruity. Our friendly waitress was attentive, offered recommendations, and kept waters filled. The manager popped by, and several others also checked in. We felt well cared for, but not in an obtrusive way. I'm giving Slackwater 5 stars for what it is: an easy, people-pleasing restaurant that, sure, isn't exactly pushing the envelope, but makes genuinely tasty dishes at a reasonable price ($10-$20 per person), and offers great customer service. read more

We've been here a few times and it's always been a solid go-to. Today we ordered the bloody sake (knock off Bloody Mary made with sake) which was a 6/10. We also ordered the passion fruit mimosa.. which was very much on the sweet side, 4/10. The green goddess pizza is a 9/10 in my book and quite possibly the best pizza in the south part of the valley. Overall slack water is a gem here in Herriman and easily beats out any "bar and grill" competition around. A nice treat is to stop by for brunch. We had an amazing dinner! We were a party of 17 on a Saturday night so already a challenge. We called a few hours ahead and a manager was amazing and kind, they added us to the waitlist no problem. When we got there it was just a bit of a wait - expected for a party our size. The managers did an amazing job, keeping us updated on the status of the other tables that need to clear in order to make a big one for us. Our server was AMAZING! He was so quick at getting our orders and the food out. He also was very efficient as he split the checks while taking the order which is usually a pain at most places to figure that out at the end but since he did it at the beginning paying was so easy! First off... Oh my goodness the spinach dip is the best on the planet!! We were able to get veggies w it instead of pitas delicious!! We were able to get right in. Right after we arrived the place filled up. They do offer Yelp waitlist seating. The atmosphere is great. It has a lively vibe. Outside they have fire pits and the woodsy area makes it quaint. Along w the spinach dip had delicious salads and wings. Both are a must. Our waiter was great. They have a great beer and bar list. I've never had a bad meal or experience. Absolutely fantastic food and great service. You seriously can't go wrong with the menu here. There are a million craft beers from nitro ale (yeah, that's a thing) to stout beers to try, which you should do. Today, if possible. Here's more: The wait time for us on Saturday for lunch was 5 minutes. Maybe we had lucky timing, but it rocked and there's no complaints from us. This is a very hipster place - nearly everyone I saw had some kind of ink, which is my crowd, and maybe yours too. The noise level was really high so FYI if you want to bring anyone with (or you have) sensory sensitivities (my son is this way. We bring a headset for sound dampening in these cases) so just be aware if this is a concern. There are two places for outdoor seating: the side facing the street and parking lot, and around the other side, near the dry creek which is a woody area. This side feels really different and gives a quieter, more natural setting. Both places are really nice if the weather is being nice. We started with the massive plate of char-tipped roasted pork chili verde nachos, which was amazing. Very flavorful and balanced with a different taste experience in every bite, with no spice/heat (FYI). The chips were crisp and didn't get soft right away, but this dish is so full of ingredients that eventually they benefit from a fork. The amount was utterly huge and easily a meal in itself. This is plenty for a good 4+ people depending on the individual aggression of the partakers. It is totally delicious. My picky son ordered the Picky Pie, which is an anyway-you-want pizza (i.e. ordinary cheese pizza) which went over well and was enjoyed, so while there isn't a kids menu, you have a good option for the unadventurous kids. I got the Tikka Masala pizza and it was smashing. It was comforting and pleasantly warm with all the wonderful spices you hope to experience - cinnamon, cloves, cumin, all the great stuff. It was amazing as a pizza which was a great surprise for me! Plus, the chicken was also spiced and marinated and added a lot to the pizza, not just on there for expectations. I would have loved more chicken on it but it didn't undermine the wonderful pizza. My husband had the meatball sandwich, which he enjoyed. The meatballs are well-seasoned and not overcooked, with a creamy feel. The bread was fresh and not hard at all, like other jaw-breaking sandwiches can be. The ale we tried was the Mother Earth nitro Vanilla Cream which was smooth and mild with subtle flavor. I recommend this one if you are new to beer and ale and would like a pleasant introduction and a lightly sweet profile to add to your new adventures. If you're not a beer/ale person at all but need to take it to save face at the table for some reason, you can get away with this one. We spent about $68 before tip.
