This place is so good. The server Blake is great. His knowledge of beers is unparalleled. Overall, amazing dining experience.

I love this place & Worth the drive from Bountiful! Staff is always super fun & nice. Great recommendations. The 5 cheese pizza is so good! Simple but I love it! Original sin cider was recommended by our waitress & it was one of the best ciders I've ever had!!!! read more

This is my new favorite restaurant. Artichoke spinach dip was plenty for our group of six, but could use a few more chips. My husband and I shared the Buffalo chicken sandwich, which was amazing with the salad, and The Hulk that was best pizza we have ever had. Our server was ontop of everything, checking in with us the perfect number of times, and our drinks were always full. Can't wait for our next performance at Hale Theatre that is only four minutes from Slackwater. read more

We visited on NYE, which was a busy night. Knowingly, we joined the Yelp waitlist ahead of time, so we didn't have to wait too long at the restaurant, which worked well for our plans. We sat at the bar and ordered our food and drinks. Our bartenders were lovely. Our problem came mainly with our pizza, the main dish we ordered, and the restaurant's specialty. It was wholly burnt on the back and was entirely black. Given that it was such a busy night, and it had taken around 20min+ for our pizza to come, we didn't want to create a fuss and send it back, so we picked around the toppings and ate what we could. However, the point is that the pizza should never have been sent out in this condition in the first place; there should be some QC before serving it to customers. We also ordered the Santa Fe salad; the spinach was crisp, and the pico de gallo tomato and black beans were nice. read more

Good pizza, nice clean place. Wish they had hard liquor. Pizza was cooked to perfection. The only real problem I had was that it was very loud, and I felt the bartender was trying to hurry me out. I was 2 slices into my pizza, and he was asking if I wanted a to go box. I said eventually, and after that, he just ignored me. I was at the bar, and there were only 4 people there. He sure made sure he was attentive to the other people at the bar. read more

Fun spot and good pizza. Definitely would come back, they had a great atmosphere and great service. The pizzas came out quick and we're very good. Got the chicken Alfredo and the pepperoni pizzas. I came once and was very underwhelmed but felt like I had chosen poorly so I thought I'd give it another try. After all, this place is always so slammed it must be good, right? (Tip: plan ahead to wait for a table, even at 4:45). The tikka masala pizza had so much promise, but under-delivered. The hummus and artichoke dips are highly recommended appetizers. The California pizza was California dreaming and the Buffalo chicken was amazing. The crust was so tasty, I almost looked forward to finishing my slice so I could enjoy it by itself. read more

Love the nachos!! If you are going to come here for anything, come for the nachos. Skip the pizza. The crust is thin and hard. The pizza choices are underwhelming. They have unique choices, but what does it matter when the pizza is not good? The service is quick and efficient. The ambiance is loud. So, if you want to go somewhere where you can hear what your friends/family are saying, do not go here. Also, make sure to put your name on the list on Yelp. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD! TERRIBLE SNOBBY HOSTESSES!! Updating my review as I'm livid at how my family and I were treated today. We came in to get early dinner and were told we were *allowed* (yes, they permitted us to eat there! Wow!!) to eat there with the large group of us but that we had to leave by 5:00pm to make room for a larger party. The hostess said if we didn't finish eating by 5 that we would have to wait for another table to open up. This makes zero sense. We were treated so badly that the large group of us ditched this terrible restaurant and went around the corner to the AMAZING Via 313 pizza where we were not disrespected! Would much rather spend our money where we aren't treated like sh@t! How snobby of your hostess. She was SO STUCK UP!! Too bad so sad you'll never be getting our business again. We loved eating here 2x a week min. Never again and our friends could not believe the way we were all treated either! You should be ashamed of yourselves for hiring such snooty hostesses! read more

First visit to Slackwater resulted in mixed reviews from our family of five. We led off with the appetizer wings, which received a unanimous thumbs up for their flavor, but be warned that the wings are on the petite side. They have a hint of Sweeney honey flavor, and are definitely not too spicy. I tried the Iron Horse pizza and was pleased, but not overjoyed with it. The crust was very good, and it had just the right amount of marinara sauce (not too much), but the rest of the toppings were a bit sparse. My son says he liked his chicken Caesar salad, but only ate half of his half-sized portion salad before he gave up on it and opted to dip bread into his sister's tomato soup instead--if you can decipher what that means, your ahead of me in the parenting game. The pulled pork nachos were just okay, not great, and took far too long to make it to our table. Our server was very attentive and polite, which probably upgraded this meal by one star. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again, but it's not at the top of my list. read more

Amazing- sat at the bar and had the best service! Beer options are extensive and well done. We had the Italian Job with feta. As picky crust people we were very happy! The pizza is just not for me for the following reasons: The crust is pretty flavorless except for an odd sweetness. I like slightly salty crust. It was crispy, which I like, but to the point of cracker dryness. There wasn't much tomato sauce on my pizza, I love fresh, salty tomato sauce. The Margherita pizza had small sliced tomato's on it, not a fan of this style. The bbq chicken pizza was inedible for me because of the flavor of the bbq. I enjoyed my salad with the creamy Italian dressing, it seemed a little unique and was large for a side house salad. The restaurant is very loud, but I liked the vibe. Service was just standard. read more

Really delicious pizza. This is now my #1 pizza place. The pizza crust is so tasty. Cara the hostess and Amanda our server were great. Good for kids. I've always had takeout pizza from this place but I finally dined in with a party of 7 this last Saturday around 11:30 am and it was great. We didn't wait too long for our table and our server was quick to come to the table to get drink orders even tho our whole party wasn't seated yet. They soon were and she was so patient and got appetizers going right after. The mulligatawny soup ( misspelled?) is delicious and a cup is big enough. The half house salad with chicken was huge and I took it home because I scarfed down the delicious nachos! Not impressed with the chicken wings as I found them very small and not worth the effort plus I didn't like the glaze on it but the blue cheese that accompanied it was to die for. I usually don't like blue cheese as I'm a ranch girl but man I would convert for this stuff! Don't get me wrong the ranch is good but not as good as the blue cheese. The carne asada pizza is delicious and a little spicy but tolerable. My favorite is the chicken Tikka masala pizza. Really flavorful. The pizzas are thin crust and not filling. Good cold or hot but since I was eating in I prefer it hot out of the oven then takeout. But again everything is better fresh hot out of the oven then takeout. But takeout here is good too. The beer selection was great and one beer actually got me tipsy! Great prices too. Located by South Towne Mall but not in the parking lot. read more

Was underwhelmed by the pizza mainly due to the dough: wasn't chewy with a nice bite, instead is more of a flatbread that you can buy at a grocery store. The toppings of the iron horse pizza was great however, just didn't do it for me bc of the sad dough. The Mulligatawny soup was good, very rich and hearty, especially good on a cold day. Ordered take out, wasn't impressed by the service/friendliness of hostesses. read more

I was really impressed with every single thing we had. Slackwater is in a stand-alone building tucked away in the southeast corner of the Target parking lot next to a small wooded area that has a little creek that I assume is dry most of the year. We arrived at about 7pm on a Tuesday and the parking lot was packed! We assumed there was going to be a long wait but we were seated immediately. Their menu is mostly Pizza with Appetizers, Sandwiches and Salads as well. Wait, I should say, their menu is mostly Beer! They have hundreds of beers listed on their menu. It isn't often I find a restaurant outside of the downtown area that has beers I haven't tried yet, but I was in luck. I'm pretty sure they have the biggest beer selection south of The Bayou. I started with a Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn Double IPA. This was definitely one of the better double IPAs I've had. Bright citrusy hop flavors in a very well balanced beer that you would never guess was 8%abv. After that I tried a Mare Island Nuclear Sandwich Double IPA. This was also very good but had more of a dank hop flavor with a bit of a sharp bite and the 9.1%abv was definitely noticeable. My wife had a Hive Winery Cider on draft and then a Sangria. She enjoyed both but said the Sangria was the best she's ever had. We ordered the You'll Be Stuffed Sticks. This is like a cheese filled calzone with marinara sauce for dipping. Seems pretty basic, but it was really good. Could taste olive oil, rosemary, a little black pepper wonderful cheese and the sauce was better than your average marinara sauce. My wife got a Ceasar Salad, which again, she said was the best Caesar Salad she's had, mostly because the greens were so fresh. I got the Joe Pesci Sandwich. It's a hot Italian Sandwich with Salami, Capicola, Pepperoni and Smoked Provolone. Once again all the individual flavors stood out and came together wonderfully. We also got the Iron Horse Pizza but substituted Green Goddess Sauce for the Marinara and added Tomatoes. It was awesome! I really want to come back and try a few more of their pizzas. The sauce substitution was my wife's idea and it worked out but I really want to try a pizza with their Marinara Sauce. We will be back! read more

Amazing service, food, and atmosphere all in one spot. First timer at this place for my boyfriend's birthday and I'm highly impressed with their appetizers and entrees they provide. I tried each of my friends pizza (each pizza different) and they all tasted delicious. You can't go wrong with any pizza and I definitely want more of their chicken wings. The biggest Emphasis I appreciated was how wonderful the service was. Kate was our waitress and she was great at handling our table of 14! She was kind, welcoming and had a great energy. We did have a hiccup during dinner. We noticed Everyone all had their food but my boyfriends, which took awhile. We asked for an update and Kate figured out the situation. For some reason my boyfriend's pizza didn't come through in the ticket and left him to receive his food last. The amazing part was despite how busy crazy the restaurant was, the manager surprised us by taking the time to make an appearance at our table to apologize for the situation. She also put my boyfriend's pizza and a dessert (their made-from-scratch strawberry cheesecake-11/10 recommend) ON THE HOUSE. One of the best above and beyond services we've experienced. We are pretty patient people so we weren't upset about the situation. We understood how busy it was and We knew they were doing their best but they dealt the situation incredibly well. Big appreciation for their great customer service. Make sure to get there early because it's Highly busy. No surprise there. Definitely check it out when you can. read more

There's a reason this place always has a wait. The Spin Art Dip was the perfect blend of artichoke, spinach, cream cheese, and sour cream. My only wish was for it to be bottomless as we couldn't help ourselves and ordered another. Thankfully it's not bottomless or we likely wouldn't have made our way to the mains. The Ogden River Club Sandwich was ordered by two of us because who can resist avocado spread with a roasted red pepper aioli. It's like everything on this sandwich was meant to be put together and then the house made chips. Don't get me started. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza is a safe classic wherever you are and this did not disappoint. The crust crunchy, not soggy. The right ratio of cheese to other ingredients and it's quite nice to look at. The vibe was nice, the service quick and friendly, and the location clean. read more

The nicest thing about this restaurant is the ability to get a reservation online. The service was very slow. Pizza was not much different than you would get at any pizzeria. They do have interesting choices, but many of them are not to my liking. It's so noisy in the restaurant that it's difficult to speak with anybody at your table. read more

We were told our wait would be 15 minutes. After 35 minutes, we noticed two parties who checked in after us being seated because they complained. We decided to give it a try and even though the queue said we were third on the list, we were seated. He put us in the sun so we asked if we could have the empty table in the shade. He said it wasn't wiped off. Without wiping it off, they immediately sat another couple. That couple ended up being served 5 minutes sooner than us. One of your hostesses kept leaving to grab food to eat. The hosts/hostesses need to do a better job. Fortunately, we enjoyed our dinner(in the hot sun) and Brook was a great server. read more

Seriously good pizza. Even the gluten-free crust, which by the way does not taste gluten-free. Amazing Thai coconut salad. Order this if nothing else. It was fantastic. I really want that dressing recipe. All the dressings are made in house. It was so light and refreshing. Great buffalo wings with homemade blue cheese dressing. They came highly recommended by a friend he was excited that we were going to try this place. Great service. They really worked hard to make sure that we knew exactly what we were getting and that we were fully satisfied with our meal. The only con to this place is the noise level. We were there on a weekend and was it ever loud! We have a hard time hearing it restaurants this may not be the place for you. But it might be worth it anyway just because the food is that good. I'm looking forward to working my way through that pizza menu read more

WOW I am always completely blown away. The aesthetic is fantastic for one; I love a trendy spot that isn't going to sear my eyes with fluorescent lights. Everyone is always polite, love the service. And then the FOOD. How does a pizza place have the best soup I've ever had in my life? I've had 3 different soups there and they all blew me away. The pizza is of course also amazing - I've had The Hulk, California Sunrise, Iron Horse, and Tikka Masala ---- all are phenomenal. The only thing that I haven't liked is the buffalo sandwich. that is actually absolutely awful and they should get rid of it. I visited on Tuesday and this place was packed! Thankfully the wait for a table was only about 15 minutes, but service was really slow. Our waitress didn't check up on us very often and we had to ask another server for help. Despite this, I still enjoyed my experience because of my company and the food was good. I really liked the raspberry sangria because it wasn't overly sweet. The wings and pizza were good, but my favorite item was actually the Thai Coco salad. Went here for the first time today. So yummy! We had a big group but we were able to get right in on a Tuesday for lunch (there is an online list you can add yourself too). Cute sit down place, have several tables for big groups. They do have a full beer/pub selection, but a place you can feel totally comfortable taking kids too. They have a long list of different types of pizzas. (Also have salads, pasta and sandwiches - but we all went for the pizza. The pizzas are 1-2 people pizzas, so we all ordered our own. I did have a few pieces leftover on mine. As far as I saw they don't really have a kids menu- or maybe we just weren't offered one. I had the Grape and Gorg pizza- it was such a yummy unique taste. Ever since the first time I went here I fell in love with it and I have to resist from eating my whole pizza because it makes me sad when it's gone and it's always so great to have leftovers! If I don't, I'm almost always back within the next day or two lol! I seriously love the atmosphere, the people, and the food is incredibly delicious! You can't go wrong! My favorite is easily the buffalo chicken pizza and I always get a side of ranch and an extra side of buffalo sauce because that makes it just that much more amazing! The Cobb salad with added buffalo chicken is also amazing. I have also tried the Italian job theirFebruary special is delicious, their wings are amazing, and their nachos are absolutely fantastic! They have a great selection of local beers and I really like the Schneiderweisse Aventinus or the other Schneiderweisse beer (can't remember the name), or the Pinkus Hefeweizen. Disclaimer, it's not a full bar, but don't let that hold you back from getting in and getting a full strength beer with your remarkable pizza! When I first moved to Utah, I stayed with my parents in Ogden for about a month. My husband and I explored a fair amount of the city in that short time, and Slackwater became our favorite restaurant. The location in Ogden is perfection, especially with the creek running by, though parking is atrocious. We now reside in Sandy, and happily, Slackwater seems to have followed us! While this location's setting is nowhere near as picturesque, the parking is a great improvement, so you win some you lose some, I guess! The lot appeared packed on our visit around 5:30 on a Thursday, but there was no wait, so don't let a bunch of cars deceive you. We were seated at a small two top along one of the windowed walls. Sadly, they don't offer booth seats (correction: see Blake's note below, they do have 'em!), but they have a variety of table sizes, plus plenty of room at the bar as well. The interior is plain, not really decorated, with the feel of a basic pub. It is also quite dimly lit, not so much that it bothered me (we'll call it mood lighting), but worth noting as I know some diners do not enjoy that. The menu includes sandwiches, salads, and their main thang, pizza. They have some very fun and creative combinations like gyro, barbecue, fish taco, tikka masala, grape and gorgonzola, etc, along with all the standards. Of course you can build your own, and any can be turned into a calzone. They are only offered in one size, about a medium, but toppings are generous, and I think most could feed two, except the hungriest of diners. Our favorite has always been California Sunrise, a fantastic departure from traditional uber-rich pizzas, featuring chicken, avocado, green goddess dressing, and loads of chiffonade spinach. It kind of feels like a salad on top of a pizza. Appetizer-wise, we usually get Check Your Garlic Breath, with whole heads of caramelized roasted garlic and perfect crispy thin toast, but we were feeling an adventure, so went a different route this time. I ordered the mulligatawny soup, which was a lil' spicy, a lil' sweet, creamy with mild curry flavor, and full of tender veggies and chunks of chicken. It was dropped off first, by the most enthusiastic server who brought me several bottles of delicious hot sauces. It sounded like they have a great assortment, but she pointed out her personal fav, a smoky, not-too-hot variety by Humble House Foods, and yowza, it was delish. Definitely try that if you can! I do wish the soup was served with a bit of bread, but that is easily remedied, and next time I will make sure to request some. I also had the Thai Coco salad (full size), featuring a mix of spring greens, a creamy, slightly sweet limey dressing added with restraint, sweet quick-pickled near paper-thin cucumbers, fresh pineapple, and crunchy almonds. It was simple, but very satisfying! I was not quite full after, but I had just left the gym, so particularly hungry, and I think normally a soup and salad would suffice. On the other hand, if you are more than a bit peckish, you can top your salad with a variety of meat, and I think the tilapia, especially, would be a lovely pairing with this particular one. My husband went traditional with an Iron Horse calzone, and this thing was massive! Their dough is soft and fairly thick, and I enjoyed the couple bites I tried, though do not care for their marinara sauce as it is a little too sugary. It was lucky I wasn't too stuffed as, for dessert, we shared the Singles Ward Delight (lololol, cute) which truly was a delight! The graham crust was THICK with a toffee-esque flavor, whipped cream cheese (or maybe mascarpone?) filling, an almost-too-salty chocolate mousse (in a good way!), all topped by a hefty dollop of whipped cream. So good I have been dreaming up a recipe, as I've been craving it nonstop. We are not big drinkers, so I cannot say much about their beverage menu, but I think it speaks for itself in that it's eight pages long in tiny font. Beer fans, especially, will be pleased as they have loads, and seem to make a point of featuring local varieties. My husband was thinking he'd get a cocktail 'cause he forgot we are in Utah, lol (see, told you we don't drink that much), so instead he went with the peach mango sangria, and it was very good: light, refreshing, and fruity. Our friendly waitress was attentive, offered recommendations, and kept waters filled. The manager popped by, and several others also checked in. We felt well cared for, but not in an obtrusive way. I'm giving Slackwater 5 stars for what it is: an easy, people-pleasing restaurant that, sure, isn't exactly pushing the envelope, but makes genuinely tasty dishes at a reasonable price ($10-$20 per person), and offers great customer service. read more
