Stopped in here for a quick bite before a movie showing down the street. The wait time was a little hefty and a bit longer than the estimate they gave us, but not enough for us to be unable to eat there. Their menu options are fun, and their drink selection seemed plentiful, though I did not grab any while I was there. My partner got the Cuban pizza, which was delightful and honestly way better than I had expected. I got the Gyro Trip, which was also very good. The crust was perfectly cooked and the toppings tasted fresh. Our server was kind, but I wish she had been a bit quicker/checked on us more than once after ordering. I ordered the nachos, and only the top like 5-6 chips had toppings on them. you lift the top chips up and the rest of the chips were completely naked. maybe a few cheese pieces and black bean here and there but it was so bad. we asked nicely if we could maybe get some more topping (chips are served warm so by the time our waiter came and "helped" they were cold, and they didn't even offer to remake them) and when we asked, they seem confused? I'm like, nachos are suppose to be covered in toppings what do you mean what do I want???? anyways, remained nice and than they proceeded to bring me out a tiny thing of salsa like 5-7 minutes later. There's something special about Slackwater. From the 'za to the vibe, this place is one of a kind. Their pizza is outstanding. The slices are relatively thin, but the crust is a thing of beauty! #iykyk I've tried at least 5 different SW pizzas and they've all been equally delicious. (I do wish they would offer red pepper flakes or hot sauce. I've asked each time I've gone but have always been left empty handed.) You can go to Slackwater with anyone for any occasion and everyone will walk away happy. The ambiance is rad; super laid back and chill but also full of good energy. I'm not a beer drinker myself, but I appreciate a good cider and I always find a new one to try when I visit. PSA: Prepare for a wait. This place is incredibly popular on any night of the week. Beer selection is great and food is decent. I sat at the bar, which was quite a high shelf for the height of the stools. I had great service. Not being from Utah, this may be typical, but I was carded immediately upon sitting at the bar. A gentleman came in and sat, but his license was expired, and so he left. The bartender handled an uncomfortable situation perfectly. I had the buffalo mozzarella caprese which was simple and amazing. The "salad" came on top of crostini, so I ate it like bruschetta and it was fantastic. I also got the you'll be stuffed which was like a calzone and mozzarella sticks had a baby. Just an update on Slackwater. It's one of my favorite spots. I have never had a problem getting a table in the two occasions I have gone for lunch. They are often very busy for dinner, so take advantage of the wait list option on yelp if you can. It's a fun environment on the noisier side, so I wouldn't suggest coming here for a quiet meal. Their stuffed sticks are my absolute favorite, and their ranch can't be beat. I don't usually eat meat pizzas, but I love their meat pizza, and their Hawaiian as well. If you're into beer, they have an extensive selection. Service has always been great here as well. You can't go wrong with Slackwater. Don't sleep on it. read more

GLUTEN FREE - CELIAC REVIEW Went here for a dinner with friends and had a good experience. However, the options are very limited if you have celiac disease. The pizzas are cooked in the same over with the gf pizzas just being in a separate area of the oven; so high chance of cross contamination. They do have a separate fryer for their tortilla chips and potato chips. The wings may or may not get fried in the same oil as the beignets (depends on "how busy they get"). Staff was very friendly and willing to answer questions and was knowledgeable about cross contamination. I had the spinach artichoke dip with no problems. read more

Went on a Wednesday night while passing through town on our way home. Recommended by our hotel host. Was thoroughly impressed! When checking on Yelp, saw the option for reservations. Reservations? at a pizza place on a Wednesday night? So I went ahead and made reservations just to be safe. So glad we did! Always a great time at Slackwater. We are closer to their Ogden location and frequent it often, but this time we met up with friends for dinner at this Sandy location. There was a little bit of a wait, but well worth it. The service was great, food was on point and prices are great. It's a popular spot and the energy level is high. You definitely need your outside voice to communicate, but it's a fun vibe and everyone seems happy. Would recommend you try the California Sunrise Pizza. The California Sunrises in Utah! If you happen to be anywhere in Utah, get your butt over to Slackwater to try what they call the California Sunrise. This was one of the best things I ate driving across the states. Whatever is in that Green Goddess base is awesome. The chicken, the bacon, the avocado, everything is just perfectly layered on a beautifully crisp crust. All of this is perfectly packaged togo with extra Green Goddess sauce and a chiffon of spinach on the side so that it is fresh when you want to eat it. I have to award points for the crust as well as I dig the cornmeal crisp, not burnt, that was still present after a short ride back to the hotel. Calling in my order was genuinely friendly and I was given so many helpful recommendations. I'm still kicking myself for not being able to try other things that was recommended. I'd revisit for sure when visiting Utah again. read more

They have some real delicious food here! The nachos are amazing, and HUGE. Their mozzarella cheese bread is so good. Watch out for the diablo cheese bread though, the waitress said it was only a tiny bit hot (and I'm someone who adds hot sauce to spicy things) and it was pretty intense. We got a bunch of pizzas; gyro, hot honey, tikka masala, one or two others I can't remember, and they were all so delicious. Their gluten free crust is fantastic as well! Slackwater pizza is delicious and always made fresh to order. My favorites are the California Sunrise and Iron Horse. You have to try the California Sunrise. The green goddess dressing paired with fresh avocado makes this such a tasty, fresh and unique pizza (in a good way)! My only complaint about this place is that they can get very busy and crowded. I went on a Thursday at 5 pm once and the entire restaurant was pretty much busy. Thought we were early, but apparently not! This place was POPPING on a Saturday night. We joined their Yelp waitlist around 5pm and it was an estimated wait of 55-85 minutes. We got there around 6:15, got checked in with the host, and were seated about 10 minutes later. I would highly recommend joining the waitlist, especially on a weekend night. We thought we were beating the crowd at 5pm, but we were totally wrong! The beer list here is HUGE! And they had two non alcoholic beers on the menu as well. Such a great selection of beers and ciders. We ordered the garlic bread and two pizzas. Each pizza is a personal size pizza, so I would recommend getting a couple to share for a party of 2. The garlic bread was good, but ours had some pieces that were a little bit burnt. It came with some freshly roasted garlic and a Gorgonzola/tomato spread. The pizzas were both great and had a ton of flavor - and the dough was delicious! This is a fun spot that's very popular, with a ton of seating and plenty of room for large parties.
