An extremely qualified four stars. It gets one more for being an independent place that tries. We arrived to find most of the place filled with macho people there on a team building exercise. The spent a lot of time being VERY LOUD and completely inappropriate going over how out of the box everyone would be. Once they left, things ended up pretty decent. The fried mushrooms were tasty. The special a Bleu Cheese Grilled Chicken burger was very tasty and was a pleasant surprise. They also served fish and chips but while OK, looked the farthest thing from fresh fish for sure--looked very much like a Van deKamp fish dinner. That was a tasty burger! We've been camping nearby for a week and wanted something different than we normally eat (which is all home cooked). Found out about Slackers and really wanted some burgers so decided to get the Attack Your Hunger burger. Seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had! The meat was perfectly cooked and not greasy at all! The beer battered onion rings were also delicious. We're here for another week so we might return to try something else on their menu. After a long drive from Denver, Colorado, we were looking for a tasty meal and really could not find much in the small town of Torrey, UT after 8pm on a Tuesday night. We decided to hit up Slacker's after exploring Capitol Reef National Park for a few hours. Not being in the burger mood, I actually got the fish sandwich to be "healthy". My friends got burgers because Slacker's apparently is one of the best places in Utah to get a burger which I have to disagree with after trying a friend's burger. This place as just OK in my book and only had average food. The fish burger is just as good as the fish sandwich at McDonald's. We visited Slackers for a quick lunch just before heading home from Torrey after a couple days visiting Capitol Reef National Park. Now, for those of you who have been to Torrey, you will know that options for anything are pretty limited beyond its small town charm and the scenery around it! However, this hit the spot perfectly. Bacon cheeseburger: Definitely a good one, fresh ingredients and certainly a nice change from the usual burger chain fare. 4/5 Sweet potato fries: Also very delicious. 4/5 Service: Fast and friendly. 4/5 One additional thing that Slackers has that you don't get at most chain burger places is the quality signage adorning the walls, especially in the bathrooms. I mean come on, you don't often get to see things like... "Who cut one?" and "Our aim is to keep this bathroom tidy. Gentlemen your aim is important. Stand close it's shorter than you think. Slacker's Burger Joint is not good. My burger was mediocre at best, with a flavorless pre-made patty, a tough bun, and slopping toppings. Everything was soaked in ketchup and very wet. The shredded lettuce was also gross. Fries were nothing special. It's to bad the food wasn't better because Slacker's is a cute place with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. This is a great little restaurant. Always busy so if you're coming during peak lunch or dinner hours you may have to wait a bit. Dine in was closed when we visited due to COVID-19 but we ate outside. Though famous for its burgers, I tried the pulled pork sandwich which they indicated was slow roasted in house and pulled the same day. Along with a side of onion rings and my choice of sweet BBQ sauce. The pulled pork was good but very fine. The pork was more of a crockpot pulled pork vs. the grainier smoked pulled pork which I generally prefer. The onion rings were fresh and flavorful! We later got desert - as you do after a long morning of hiking Cassidy Arch and Hickman Bridge in 90 degree weather. I ordered the seasonal Peach Cobbler with cinnamon ice cream and my wife the banana split. Both were very good. Well, I really wanted to like this place, but it was not to be for me today. Ordered a yummy BLT with fries and a chocolate milk shake, which did NOT disappoint. I sat inside and was given a number so that when my meal was ready they'd bring it to my table. Sweet! Unfortunately for me, other diners came, ordered, received their orders and left while I was still sitting there waiting for my sandwich. I finally went up to the window and held my little Number card up. She said "we're pretty busy, we'll get to you soon." About six minutes later, a server came up and essentially dropped my meal onto the table and walked away. Suspicions confirmed. The fries were cold. The burgers here are really good. The wife and I each had the bacon cheeseburgers, fries, and tots. They were pretty tasty and good sized. I would've given 5 stars, but we had shakes made to take back to our room. The wife ordered a chocolate malt...actually it was more like vanilla with a squirt of chocolate in it. And not even that much chocolate. And they forgot the malt flavoring. We had sandwiches packed for lunch, yet we're intrigued to find this spot with a review from the Los Angeles Times advertised outside. We had ordered the bacon cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, a regular cheeseburger, a fish sandwich, and a veggie burger. All items were excellent: the buns were shining and puffed and delicious and the fries were just as good. We didn't have time to try their fried cheesecake, yet are eager to try it the next time we're there.
