Gorgeous scenery and a nice interior. Pleasant , professional and quick service. Sauce on the steak was not for me but the steak it's self is lovely. Corn bread was good and served as a nice snack on the road back home

This was hands-down, the best meal we had in this town. We've been trying different restaurants every night and this one was a home run. It was also $200 for the three of us to eat here but holy moly the service was amazing and the food was the best ever. My daughter and I got the salmon and ate everything. My husband got the filet mignon and it was cooked so perfectly. Everybody's meals were cooked so perfectly. I wish I could afford to come here every night. We also got the lemon sorbet for dessert and it was kind of creamy and delicious.

Great Food Bison Meatloaf and Trout were great. Antelope special was great as well as the cornbread. service was excellent and helped us make great choices. Signature margarita was so refreshing. cute decor and very farm to table.

Hidden gem. I wasn't sure what to expect- however I was impressed. Every dish was perfectly executed, staff was super kind and knowledgeable. Slow down for a nice and relaxing dinner, and definitely try anything the staff recommends. We had the antelope, bison, and trout.

We love Hunt & Gather! The vibes are so amazing and the service is great! We love Suzie we had such a great experience sitting outside on the patio. All of the food is delicious and I would recommend anything on the menu.

This place did not disappoint. Such an awesome menu. The Antelope appetizer was incredible, tender, flavorful. Definitely a must. For dinner, my wife had one of the specials, Cast Iron Steak Marsala, and it was an absolute flavor bomb. The steak medallions were flawless. I went for the Buffalo Ribeye. It was cooked properly but a bit lean for my liking. Nothing like a beef ribeye. But the dish was good, and the potatoes and vegetables were great. Their ice cream is made in house and OMG was it great. I also ordered the Sweet Potato Bourbon Pecan Pie because... sweet potato pie for dessert? Yes please. My wife got the flourless chocolate cake and it's one of the better ones (if not best) we've ever had. Super happy, very impressed, and not at all what we expected the dining experience to be like in a tiny rural town. Also, we were here at the end of May and sat outdoors. The views were just gorgeous and the weather was perfect. I hope this little restaurant flourishes. They deserve it!

Such a cool place...great ambience and setting. The wait staff was terrific and food matched this.

The food was delicious, the service was incredible ~ our waitress was a 6th generation Hickman and we hiked today just to see the bridge. This place is a little treasure.

Amazing spot to visit for dinner when exploring Capitol Reef National Park! Delicious food, great service and a well kept dining room! Started with the bread assortment, which came with 5 different rolls and butter. They were served warm and all were equally delicious. For my entree, I ordered the duck and oh my goodness, it was SO GOOD! I haven't had duck prepared this well in quite some time. The apricot sauce was fantastic and the rice pilaf and vegetables were a great addition I would gladly return when in the area again!

I was disappointed with the entire meal quite honestly, outside of the bread. The antelope and the filet mignon had the same "barbecue" glacé, which was so disappointing on a $51 steak. No butter in sight either when I asked for no bleu cheese. The mashed potatoes were decent, and the veggies were tasty. Presentation was lovely. No one bothered to turn on the heaters near us despite voicing this with servers near earshot. The creme brûlée lacked the hard surface and was fridge cold on the inside, not what creme brûlée should be like. Then, despite mentioning it was a birthday, no one bothered to do anything special for my friend (such as writing happy birthday on the dessert we ordered). I have had better service many other places. For the price, I expected more than a sweet baby rays sauce on my steak. Hard pass next time. Don't believe the hype.

Finish with the Chocolate Flourless Torte. It's shareable but order your own. You're welcome. Amazing service with Kerry. Al fresco dining with beautiful red rock views.

Tucked away off Hell's Backbone Road, the setting is absolutely beautiful, and the combination of the rustic atmosphere, incredible views, thoughtful food and great cocktails makes this a place I would definitely return to. We had the Rainbow Trout Filet, which was pan-seared and served with celery root purée, celery, almond green beans, baby tendrils, sundried tomato, remoulade and lemon vinaigrette. It was beautifully prepared, fresh and full of flavor. The BBQ Rib Eye Pork Chop was incredible--so tender it practically melted in your mouth. It was pan-roasted with sage and a homemade BBQ glaze, accompanied by summer corn, pepper drops, caramelized onion and an apple chutney. The combination of sweet and savory flavors was fantastic. We also tried the corn chowder, which featured late-season corn, bacon and micro cilantro. It was a delicious way to start the meal, and the cocktails were definitely worth mentioning. The Mountain Spring cocktail was refreshing and perfectly suited to the beautiful mountain setting. The Sugar House Rum Prickly Pear cocktail was another favorite--such a fun, flavorful drink and a great complement to dinner. What really stood out was how much this restaurant feels like an experience rather than simply a place to eat. Sweetwater Kitchen embraces the area around it, with seasonal ingredients, locally sourced food and a relaxed ranch atmosphere. The restaurant describes its philosophy as seasonal cooking with ingredients at their peak, including ingredients grown or raised right on the ranch. (Sweetwater Kitchen) If you're exploring Boulder, Escalante, Capitol Reef or Scenic Byway 12, put Sweetwater Kitchen on your list. It's worth getting off the main road for! Beautiful setting. The beers are mostly domestic with only one micro brew selection but there were plenty of national brand choices. The food was home made and not bad for bar food. I had a Pittsburgh cheese steak sandwich that I thought was good. I ordered it with a side salad instead of fries as I had also ordered the loaded Pastrami fries which came with cheese, pickles and mustard on top. It was a bit too rich and heavy for my taste and the flavors didn't really work well together. Maybe without the mustard I would have liked it more. Not a bad place for a rest stop or a reasonable local hang out as well with some decent food.

My family stopped by here and our way to the National Parks and are so glad that we did. As my dad said, "this was the best meal of our trip so far", comparing it to fine dining in Seattle. Circle D is a relatively small establishment overall, and so we had to wait for a table for about 20 minutes or so. The owners and a young waitress whom they had hired a couple weeks before were the only front staff. All of them were very friendly. As far as the food, we ordered the smoked tuna Niçoise salad, the bone-in pork chop, and the lemon chicken. We also had the truffle fries for an appetizer. The TRUFFLE FRIES were super flavorful and packed with umami flavors. The cheese was perfectly melted on top giving it an extra rich and savory flavor. The SMOKED TUNA NICOISE SALAD was also excellent. The fish had a well-rounded smoky taste and the salad was HUGE. All of the vegetables were extremely fresh and crisp; they included tomato, avocado, red radish, green beans, and olives. While the smoked fish was the star of the dish, the baked potato was by far the BEST baked potato I've had in my life- crisp and browned on the outside and soft in the inside. The BONE-IN PORKCHOP was the highlight of the dishes. I don't normally like porkchop as I usually find it too dry but this one was super moist. The apple and parsnip compote was BOMB. This is the must-get dish if you come. The LEMON CHICKEN was wonderfully tender and came with the amazing potatoes as described above and fresh green beans. It had prominent olive and lemon flavors and reminded me of the chicken my mom bakes in the oven at home. The atmosphere is cozy; and homely. They have about 10 tables in total or so. It is clean and they have an open patio if you want to dine outside. Overall: 5/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

We stayed at Austin's Chuckwagon Motel for a night while exploring Capitol Reef in one of the…read moreretro-Queen rooms above the store. This is a room that isn't advertised in 3rd party sites and has to be booked on the property website only - it's something like 50% cheaper than the rooms in the hotel. The room comes with unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate from the General Store/Cafe. We were a bit confused with how it worked since other customers have to pay for drinks, but the clerk assured us we could go whenever to get drinks (which we did multiple times!) While we checked in too late in the day to eat at the deli and left too early in the morning for Chuckwagon's famous lunch boxes, we did hit it up in the morning for breakfast pastries, which according to the cashier are all baked in house (and why we were attracted to them in the first place). We were having trouble deciding between the Kouign Amann and the Chocolate Croissant, eventually deciding on the former, but the cashier tossed us the latter for free! What great service! Chocolate Croissant (Complementary, normally $6) - This is a gorgeous looking croissant, golden brown with a drizzle of sweet chocolate on top, still soft and gooey thanks to being fresh from the oven. It's baked hard, so croissant shards fly everywhere while eating. I'd say it's baked a tad too long, so while extremely flaky, the interior isn't quite as chewy as I'd like. The lamination does look quite good from what I can tell after having some difficulty slicing through with a plastic knife. As is traditional, two chocolate batons are baked inside. (5/5) Kouign Amann w/ Cream ($6) - Again, this pastry has a really hard bake, so almost the entire thing shatters easily, except for the stellar caramelized sugar layer covering the bottom. It's hardened, sticky, and sweet with a great crunch factor. The interior is actually correct for a Kouign Amann, which is really surprising for a small-town bakery. It's not laminated nearly as much as the croissant, and instead seems to be a nice enriched brioche interior, albeit not particularly airy and soft in texture due to the bake. There's a really tangy and somewhat sweet cream cheese frosting that's piped into the center. I'd actually prefer the pastry without this extra flourish, but beggars can't be choosers! (5/5) Both pastries are more of a 4.5/5 due to the bake, but the ingredients and technique (other than bake) seem to be well thought out. We were not expecting much from these baked goods given that the Chuckwagon Deli isn't exactly a specialty bakery, but in the end we were extremely surprised by the quality. I'll definitely be revisiting if I'm ever in town again.

They only offer breakfast sandwiches now but it's made to order so we got to choose type of eggs and proteins. It did take a bit a time for them to make it so factor that in when planning your visit. The sandwiches were ~$12 each but were pretty filling so perfect for another day of hiking.
