I would honestly stay away from this place if you have any other options. For $25 I got a cheeseburger, sweet potato fries ($3 up charge for that), and a hot fudge brownie sundae. I was okay with that given it's a touristy spot and if the food was good, I would say that's a fair price. The sweet potato fries were ok. They were super crispy, to the point where they didn't have much sweet potato flavor left. The cheeseburger was inedible. It was clearly a frozen patty from a big box club with a ton of filler in it. I choked down three bites and tossed it. It was advertised on the menu as "World Famous" and as winning awards. The bun was much too large for it as well, but all of that bread couldn't mask the awful flavor of the cheap meat. The sundae was ok as well. The brownie was delicious, fresh and full of chocolate chips. The ice cream had kind of a weird texture to it and there was about a tablespoon of cheap hot fudge. The sundae was the best part of the meal, so if you're going to Slackers, go for dessert. And bring your money. The staff was very nice. There was a young boy running the register and when he couldn't figure out something he called his mom, who came over from across the street (they just own both restaurants?) and she was also very nice. There were young adult girls with a toddler playing in the kitchen area which seemed kind of odd, but they didn't seem to be bothering anything, but I wondered why they weren't helping the young boy who seemed to be working very hard. My husband and I were staying in Bicknell on our way to see arches, capitol reef and Canyonlands and we were trying to find a place to eat and saw this place while heading out to capitol reef. We decided to try it and I'm glad we did because it was soooo gooood. We got the Swiss bacon burger with fries and the bowl of chili with a large drink and it was only $18 bucks. I noticed they had a lot of options for desserts too and I decided to get the brownie sundae and that was reaaalllyy good too it was $5.99. They did also have a peach cobbler with ice cream for $4.50 and that looked good too. I would stop by here again if we were every staying here again or passing through. read more

We had some take out pulled pork sandwiches from here. I am a fan of pulled pork that has been cooked in the sauce and this place serves it plain with a thimble full of sauce on the side. The cole slaw was excellent and the pièce de résistance was this ridiculous banana split that was as enormous as it was satisfying. Three scoops of ice cream - chocolate, vanilla & strawberry with chocolate sauce, crushed pineapple (my husband's favorite) and strawberry with whipped cream and 2 cherries. To 'top' it all off, we ate it in a teepee at the Capitol Reef Resort while watching our beloved Boston Bruins blow it in the Stanley Cup final. Luckily the ice cream made the loss a little less lousy. Not too far out of town...I didn't go in so I don't know about in house service or the place itself, but the take out was good. read more

I first went to this place a million years ago when it was called "Brinks Burgers." But whoever bought it and renamed it 'Slackers' obviously was NOT a slacker, because they have done an EXCELLENT job of cleaning this place up. I'm exasperatingly boring, so I got a cheeseburger and fries. If you ever get fries in Utah, be prepared for them to ask you if you would like 'fries sauce.' This is a Utah thing. It's ketchup, mayo, and some spices, all mixed up until it's pale pink. You're supposed to dip fries in it. I'm just warning you, so you won't pull an 'ignorant tourist' and go "fries sauce? What on earth is THAT?" I did that, and I'm not even a tourist. The woman taking our order was very nice and refrained from falling over in hysterical laughter (which she probably wanted to do, but you couldn't tell), because of course EVERYONE in Utah knows what fries sauce is. AT ANY RATE, the burgers here are pretty good, and so are the milkshakes if you happen to be a milkshake person. I highly suggest the cookie dough milkshake, as they put LOTS AND LOTS of cookie dough in it and it made me very happy. The food took about 10 minutes to make, but I didn't really mind because I was too busy looking at all the cool license plates that are EVERYWHERE, even on the ceiling. So yeah, definitely go here if you're a burger person or a milkshake person. Or even a fries sauce person. read more

For a burger joint in a small town this is the bomb. Family of 4 under $40, and that includes 2 shakes. Got me the blue bacon burger. Wow it was good. Not quite sure what they do to the buns but they are toasted slices of heaven. Burger was cooked perfectly. Shakes are runny but good and smaller than expected portion wise. Will skip that the next time. Staff is really friendly and want to get it right. The decor is cool lots of quirky signs. Men's bathroom has a great one. Came into town with kids to hike at Capitol Reef NP, by 4pm everyone was hungry and came across this little burger joint. Food was surprisingly good. We ordered Old Fashion Burgers, Garlic Burger and 2 kids meals. The sweet potatoes fries are delicious. Kids meal's fries are more like hash brown that shaped like smiley faces. Kids loved the old fashioned license plates decor and Iron Men post sign in the bathroom. All and all we will definitely come back again. read more

A road trip is all about the unexpected stops along the way and this was one of them. We were on our way into Capital Reef and it was just about time for lunch. Since the speed limit dropped to about 10mph, we had a chance to look around as we passed through town. There were a few cars parked here and it had a cool name so we stopped (yelp gave it good reviews too). The woman behind the counter was super nice and the selection was great. E ordered a burger and curly fries and I split a ranch bacon chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries with P. The food came out pretty quick and both meals were pretty damned good. The milk shake got two thumbs up too. The only thing that could make this place better is if it were closer to home! If I lived anywhere nearby I would be here regularly. read more

I am surprised at all the great reviews. I mean in the middle of the desert- sure they are edible. Slackers is a good word for the way they put together their products. Sandwhiches were assembled well, but the quality of the parts is not very good. Boyfriend had the double 1/4 pounder, I had the fried chicken sandwich. The girl told me they did not bread the chicken in house, but they are good. The chicken lacked any seasoning, and tasted like frozen food. I think everything here comes out of the freezer. That is sad- when I have had much better fast food from Chick Fil- or many other roadside diners, that make things from scratch. I also did not like that they shredded the iceberg lettuce, I like to get a little crunch from my veggies. I much prefer the chicken sandwich from the Capital Reef Inn, and it is around the same price point. Maybe they changed the way do things since that glowing LA times review? read more

This one, by default, has mustard and pickles which really isn't what you think of when you order a mushroom burger and you end up not really being able to taste the mushrooms. I love burgers. Simple. This place? Couldn't finish it. I honestly believe they might be using those patties-in-a-bag from Wal-Mart. This place is awesome! It was a nice surprise find for us as we didn't see this one listed until we looked into our hotel's guide. The decor is very cute and well done. Now onto the good part: the food! There was a great selection of burgers. I got the Blue Burger, and if you love blue cheese this is the one for you! The hubby got the Bacon Double Cheeseburger and scarfed it down. There was a large selection of shake choices. We ordered a fudge brownie peanut butter milkshake at its one of the best shakes (dare I say it?) I've ever had. Nice atmosphere for the middle of nowhere.. The older gal that worked there was very professional taking the orders. Food was less than desirable at best. Just seemed like deep fried bar food. Jazzy menu that is about $4 high per, but i do recognize that it is a remote location. Got a milkshake that they clearly use water vs the cream in the ice cream machine mix. Water pooled up before i was 4 bites in. The Oreos were some kind of knock off cookie with a gross after taste. read more
