We really liked the atmosphere too. We ate the aracinis for an appetizer and for entrees we had the short rib pasta and the salmon. We would definitely come back. The one suggestion I have though is to have at least one high chair on hand. Our three year old could manage on the normal chairs but the table was a little high for her.

But then when I was looking up their burger week menu I came across the valentines menu and it looked good, so I figured I would give it try. My husband's dinner was alot better than mine so I was eating some of his, even though we always share anyway. He got the oysters with a dragonfruit sauce and they were good. I ordered crab and corn soup with grilled focaccia bread. The soup itself was fine , but it was only half a bowl and not much crab in it. I would have liked more soup instead of the bread. I gave the bread to my husband because we got a good amount of bread for the appetizer and I didn't want to fill up too much. I probably should have ordered the calamari instead , that looked pretty good. My husband's scallops with risotto was very good. Seared perfectly, creamy risotto, good flavor. Normally that is what I like to order, but I got the crab pasta because I love crab. I was disappointed In this dish. The crab tasted a little too fishy like it went bad or something. I also got a number of shells in the crab I had to spit out. I feel like they could have mixed the crab with some kind of seasoning or flavors. It seemed like they just dumped the crab right out of the can into the pasta and didn't even clean the shells out first. And they didn't even put the pasta in any kind of sauce. I would have liked maybe a creamy sauce with it. The pasta was just in like a watery garlic broth, and it broke apart and crab went all in the water and I didn't even have a spoon to pick it up. Dessert was ok. I'm glad we got the dragonfruit cheesecake instead of the chocolate cake, it was refreshing . The tiramisu wasn't bad but it was still somewhat frozen. I was kind of surprised because we are fans of the Pieri group restaurants. We have been to their sister restaurant Stonerose for burger week for a number of years now and love it. We also came to burger week at bar sera the one year and really enjoyed theirs too. I wish they did them separate weeks so we could go to both . Maybe it was just an off night tonite. Sometimes valentines menus aren't as good as their regular menu. Maybe we learned our lesson to go out the week before valentines instead for next year.

We started with the Blackfish classic--the hen egg wrapped in freshly smoked salmon--a must-order every time we visit. For entrées, we enjoyed the lobster agnolotti and the crispy dorade in a saffron sauce. To finish, the freshly baked beignets were light, warm, and so GOOD! Every course was outstanding. We've been coming here twice a year for over a decade, and it never disappoints. Don't forget--it's BYOB, so plan ahead. We'll definitely be back.

Part of me feels the tasting menu tonight is a bit of a letdown. 1) The caramelized onion with cream sauce is super salty to the extent that I couldn't eat it. My husband was hungry so he ate both without much thinking, but later he said the high sodium level became obvious towards the end. 2) One of the two main dishes: the scallops are super salty too! But I still ate them as there are only three medium-sized scallops anyway. 3) Seating is super tight, almost uncomfortable. You're literally on top of each other. So the restaurant became very loud and it's hard to hear clearly what the servers are saying. We didn't hear the "inedible sea grass" part, so I was poking the sea grass after I finished my single oyster. The lead female server almost "yelled"'at me. We also witnessed her harshly tell the male server to move faster to clear one table, which we find unnecessary as he was already moving as fast as the tight space allowed him to. But our tall young female server is very friendly--her warm mannerism makes us feel better during the long wait between courses. My favorite out of the seven-course tasting menu is: the smoked salmon with poached egg. It has a very balanced flavor and the texture combination makes the dish interesting. Maybe it's better not to do the tasting menu especially if it's your first visit, as it doesn't allow you to make any choice.

They also have HH on Saturdays! Nice perk. What we snagged: -Brussels (Very good. Crispy and well cooked bacon) -Mussels in a white wine sauce. VERY flavorful. We were about 1/3 of the way done and found and long black hair. Not great, but manger came right over and apologized. Took it off the bill and offered for another. We were good with just taking it off the bill. -Black Cod. Best dish of the night. Had a noddle crispy dish on the side. Fish was cooked perfectly. -Lobster Ravioli. Good, but nothing crazy. Snagged a few drinks: Baklava Old Fashion and Espresso Martini. Both amazing. Very well done. Overall, we'd come back for a HH or a quick dinner. Raven was a great server and focused on us all evening. Even before the hair LOL.

Was there earlier this month for a retirement party of 50+ people with lots of different tastes and dietary restrictions, but Hook & Ladder had us all covered. My table and I tried the generously sized charcuterie board, Brussels sprouts, mushroom soup (soooo good!!), and for my entree, I ordered the braised beef rib (also excellent). We had a lot of salmon orders at the table, too, and every plate was empty before the dessert menus came around -- I didn't try the crème brûlée or bread pudding, but they both looked like a nice end to a great meal. The staff had a bit of a hard time keeping up with drink orders and refills, but we're a pretty heavy drinking crowd with a lot of different tastes, so that's no surprise. They were friendly and timely in clearing plates and silverware though, and the bartenders were friendly and swift. It's not easy accommodating such a large group, so I can see us coming back here for future big events. I can also see how it would be a good place to celebrate any kind of special occasion with a smaller crowd, too.

This place is huge with plenty of outdoor seating (with gliders) multiple dining rooms each with their own bar and a rooftop deck. Starting off strong. The brisket fries were tasty, cheesy and kept their shape even under the brisket. Things went downhill from tThe roast beef has good flavor but was not served as hot as we would have liked. Our waitress did not come back around until after we had eaten so the opportunity to try and get it remedied did not present itself. My burger was good enough but not juicy or flavorful. Just a basic bar burger. Sandwiches come with house made chips which usually are my favorite, sadly these chips were rubbery, stale, and dull. If you're not going to include fries with your sandwiches make sure your chips are edible. The rooftop offers a different limited menu that offers a few of the same items the dining rooms have with some different "lighter" additions. We will try and come back when it's cooler to check it out. Three stars for this trip with room for improvement: Food = just okay Atmosphere = comfy and relaxed Service = definitely could have been better
